Ballard Blossom created the bouquets, corsages and boutineers for my wedding in 2011.  As evidenced by my 5-star rating, the experience was superb from beginning to end.

We met with the bridal florist (Jamie Stine) a couple of months in advance.  I brought pictures of bouquets I liked, but was otherwise clueless about the particular flowers I wanted.  I told her I wanted blue and white in the bouquets with green accents.   Jamie knew what would be in season (and therefore cheaper) and guided us in picking out the right flower combinations.  Jame took her time showing us lots of pictures and instilled in us trust that she knew what she was doing.  She gave us the caveat that if certain flowers we had decided on together were unavailable or sickly looking on day-of, that she and her team would substitute with other flowers within our color scheme.  The end result was absolutely wonderful!  The flowers photographed beautifully and stayed fresh throughout the entire day.  Every detail (down to the silk wrapping on the stems) was carefully executed.  Jamie even labeled all the bouquets, boutineers and corsages with the names of the individuals they belonged to so that the groom's didn't get mixed up with the groomsman's.

The sales experience was totally low-pressure (which can be rare in the wedding services industry!).  No one tried to up-sell us on more expensive flowers, and the staff was totally fine when I called a few days after our consultation to get rid of one of the arrangements (we decided we didn't need it).  They didn't pressure us to get delivery either.  The flowers were available for pick-up on the morning of the wedding which saved us the delivery charge.  They have a parking lot directly east of the building which made it super easy.

Overall great experience.  I'd recommend them to anyone planning a wedding.

I was the recipient of a lovely bouquet of flowers from Ballard Blossom. It was my mother's gift to me for my birthday. As beatiful as the arrangement may have been, the flowers ARRIVED THE DAY AFTER my birthday and they included THIER APOLOGY ON MY MOTHER'S NOTE!

Apology not accepted. Your flowers were a day late. Delivery from Ballard to Fremont is not a difficult task.

I got my bridal and bridesmaids bouquets here. The colors were on point - I had chosen vibrant purples and blues, which can be tricky. The flowers in my bridal bouquet were a bit wilted, though. Not the look I was going for. The arrangement that sat on the stage at the ceremony was beautiful. I chose Ballard Blossom because I didn't like the idea of spending a crazy amount on flowers I would only see once. I thought some of the other places had a more interesting aesthetic and were better about trying to come up with a vision that i liked. I ended up going more standard and basic with Ballard Blossom and don't really regret it.

    Their flowers are gorgeous.

They'll customize the messages that come with them to say all kinds of weird stuff (we started writing crazy stuff just to mess with the flower people).

The balloons are awesome and adorable.

My boy at the time even got the flower delivery guy to whistle a song for me while delivering the flowers (it was off key, but hilariously wonderful).

This should all call for a 5 star rating, right?

YES. Except I don't like cut flowers, so my boy at the time bought me living plants. I loved them. And then it got spider mites and died, infesting all my other plants and killing them in the process.

So I bought new office plants. And I got mad at him. And he bought me plants. Aaaaand it got spider mites, infested all my other plants, and all my plants died.

So I bought NEW office plants. I'll give you one guess to what just happened. That whole damn basket is in the garbage right now, and I'm sitting here, seething, wondering if I'm going to have to buy all new plants in my office AGAIN.

THE HELL WITH YOUR PLANTS AND YOUR SPIDER MITES, BALLARD BLOSSOM.

Ok, I haven't set foot in this store either, but my boyfriend sent me flowers from here!  I probably have good memories because they were my first flowers (you know in the beginning when they do stuff like this?! haha) and I was totally taken by surprise.

Someone (from Ballard Blossom, I presume) came into my work with these flowers.  I was completely embarrassed and surprised, especially because we had a lot of customers around.

I received the purple lisianthus and limonium in the green vase with the hugging teddy bear and a note.  The flowers were beautiful (though I suspect dyed) and were very healthy when they arrived.  They lasted quite a long time (I want to say about two weeks) and I was very happy with them.

I know my boyfriend didn't order them off Ballard Blossom.  He ordered them off some other website that distributed the work to local florists.  He did not report any customer service issues either.

I was a little hesitant with the 5 stars simply because I haven't been inside, but with my experience it was all great and 5 stars-worthy.

On the top ten list of things a guy does not want to do on a Saturday off (when it's 85 and sunny) is pick out flowers for his upcoming exit party from the bachelors world........yes ladies, it's true, I'm getting married. Sorry...........But any way...... Saturday, sunny, Ballard Blossom and a promise I'm not getting out of. Sound hopeless?

Maybe I'm being a bit melodramatic.

It was was a very refreshing experience with customer service. The woman who helped us was knowledgeable, professional and nice. We got through the entire wedding plan (bridesmaids, bouquets and all the other stuff I knew nothing about) in an hour and after she brought out our estimated bill I was able to breath a sigh a relief. It was actually under budget!

...... before long I was halfway through a cold pint of Pilsner Urquel with the sweet smell of BBQ wafting through the air........

Thank- you, Ballard Blossom. Nicely done.

I've ordered bouquets several times via their website without problem. In fact once I clicked submit too soon and when I phoned the shop to edit my order there was not one delay or excuse or hint of attitude. So I was delighted to get their notice of their Christmas Open House. Probably should've remembered that the night before while I was accruing alcohol points to reach my hungover goal. Yep, I walked slowly around Ballard Blossom come Sunday morn cursing my want to drink that pint of beer in front of my face. I should get water when I'm thristy! But nooooooooooooooooooooooooo ... uh ...

But Ballard Blossom! Yes, a very lovely shop with some very patient women working and creating. There were several tables for demonstrating how to make a wreath or swag (hehheh, swag). And as I adore the living Christ (hehheh, Christ) outta of Christmas my weakened condition could not deter me from purchasing a Santa mat for the front porch, or a jeweled bird for the tree or an ornament of old-fahsioned keys clustered ... HEY!  Oh well, they are pretty and I am part crow, ooooooooooooh shiny!

Remember all those awkward high school dances? Ya know, the formal ones where you get a corsage for your date and everything? Well, when you buy such items here they come out looking pretty darn spiffy. The staff are extremely nice and will answer any number of dumb questions for the flower novice.

Since high school I've ordered flowers several, several times from them for a wide variety of occasions. All of their bouquets manage to be elegant and simple. Nothing grossly over the top, and even if you don't quite know what you're looking for, the knowledgeable staff will ask you a few quick questions on what the flowers are for and will prepare an arrangement accordingly.

I also like how they're a member of FTD or whatever... whenever I need to send flowers out of state I just ring my local florist and either same day or next day a gorgeous bouquet of flowers is delivered anywhere in the country. Even though Ballard Blossom doesn't personally prepare flowers sent to someone in New York or California, I greatly enjoy calling in orders to Ballard Blossom since they're so darn nice.

Very nice variety of plants, bouquets and gifts.

We stopped by here on the way to the hospital to visit a new addition to planet Earth.  However, the timing was the day before Valentine's Day, so you can imagine the chaos.  The store was packed with men of all ages coming to gather their required token for sex.  We snickered, since we never really participated in the sex for chocolate and flowers routine.  It's easier just being a hussy!  And more fun.

But aside from that, we had a fun time looking at the beautiful plants, garden gnomes, and stuffed animals.  We settled on a lovely azalea plant that was trained to grow like a tree.  It was very reasonably priced.  So much so that we splurged on a stuffed toy too.

The staff roaming the store was especially friendly and helpful, even in the environment of count down to cupid's curse.  However, the poor woman working the register seemed to be completely new to the store and to using a register.  We took pity on her since we were fairly sure some of the other clients may not.

Needless to say, it's an easy stop to grab flowers to make someone smile.

Never had a problem with them, nor anyone complain about an ugly arrangement. OTOH, the last time I ordered flowers I did get into a weird tete-a-tete with the salesperson about the delivery location, which was next to the Ballard Bridge.

Me: "I think it's in Ballard."
Her (loudly): "NO! IT'S NOT BALLARD! THAT'S MAGNOLIA!"
Me: "Sheesh! Can I just get the flowers delivered today?"

My future mother-in-law ran around Seattle the week of our wedding to look for the perfect flowers for our ceremony.  It wasn't your usual wedding ceremony - it was a Thai water ceremony.  The MIL wanted flowers to cover the basin of the water bowl, all the while laying on top of a small pedestal.  This meant the flowers had to have a particular circumference and the arrangement needed to consist of flowers that could be thrown in a wreath shape.

Of all the places she contacted, only Ballard Blossom could envision what she was talking about.  On the day of our event, she went to pick it up and could not stop gushing about how perfect it it was!  Our ceremony pictures were that much better because of the beautiful arrangement.  The price was a little steep, but well worth the money!

To be perfectly honest, I have never set foot in Ballard Blossom, nor even ordered from them in any fashion.
However, I do receive flowers from my boyfriend fairly often (never because he is in trouble, only because he is awesome and just buys me flowers just because) and they are always beautiful.
And I just realized yesterday that he's been getting them Ballard Blossom.
In fact, I asked him where he was getting the flowers, but he refused to say, but then I saw the wrapping sitting outside. Sorry, babe, I wasn't looking for it, I swear!

My point is, I have received many a gorgeous arrangement from him, and I am now sure that they were all from BB. I have no idea how much they cost, but whatever it is, it is worth it, as they always look great, last a long time, and he keeps going back.
To me, it's a win win win situation.

Keep up the good work, Ballard Blossom! I love my beautiful flowers!

It's not a very common occurrence to walk into a flower shop, but the few times I've been in Ballard Blossom it's been a pleasant experience.

The setup is fairly nice with a number of plants and flowers in the front with staff arranging bouquets in the back. On the side is a small arrangement of flowers that really does smell fresh. It's like walking into my garden, just without the towering man-eating weeds. On the counter are a few books that you can peruse if you're not sure what you want. Word to the wise: they do offer some things that you can find at http://FTD.com that aren't in the book.

The staff has been uniformly helpful and their suggestions have been spot-on. Conveniently, they are open 6 days a week (closed Sunday). The delivery range is fairly wide ranging from Issaquah to Tukwila to Mill Creek. Deliveries have been on-time, although a instruction was missed once (thus the 4 stars instead of 5). But I'd certainly use them again though.

You've probably seen their distinctive black vans whizzing along the roads of Seattle festooned with the company logo on the side. There are so many vans around sometimes I've idly wondered where they're going. To a church for a wedding arrangement? A sick friend in the hospital? To a lover back from a long trip? To a mistress having a torrid affair in a Super 8 hotel room?

I can't answer those questions. But I can say that whatever your reasons for flowers, Ballard Blossom is a pretty good place to get them.

I've never been to the actual store. I've just ordered the flowers on line and had them delivered. They have a very friendly staff when I have called to place an order. The flowers always arrive in a timely manner and always look and smell wonderful. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I've never been to the actual store.

Update 7/18/07: I've been to the store a few times since the orginal review and its just as nice as expected. I'm bumping it up to a full five stars.

The missing star is only because I have neither been in the store, nor even called them.  I haven't had to, and don't think I will.  But if I should find myself in the neighborhood with time to kill, and I go in and it's cool as it sounds, this will be updated to a five.

I have been fortunate to receive their bouquets in the past.  They can't exactly be described as avant-garde or cutting edge, but that's often not  what's called for depending on the occasion and recipient.  They are always fresh, beautiful, arranged well and packed sturdily for transport.

I had occasion yesterday to send flowers, and chose Ballard Blossom after scoping out a few of their competitors.  I wanted a simple few lilies as a sympathy gift, to a residence.  I feel that sometimes less is more, and a giant elaborate arrangement would have felt a little inappropriate for the situation.

I notice that on some flower delivery sites, the shopping cart attempts to overcategorize in this regard.  "I'm sorry, a small lily vase means 'Thank you.'  For 'Sympathy,' you must choose one of these giant overdecorated white things that look like they belong in a Vegas wedding chapel."  Not so at Ballard Blossom.  You can pick what YOU think is appropriate.

The prices were also very competitive.  What I wanted cost more at the other sites I checked, by the time delivery fees were said and done.

I placed my order online at 9am, and received an email confirmation that they had been delivered at 2pm.  My giftee said that they arrived looking and smelling beautiful and fresh, and that ferns and greens had been used nicely to offset them.  (Because, you know, three or four lilies will start to get kinda top heavy in a vase without some filler.)  I don't think I'll even bother price checking around next time.  I'll use Ballard Blossom again and again.

I've used Ballard Blossom in the past to order flowers and today for the third time in the past two years I received flowers from them.  The flowers have always been vibrant and beautiful no brown anywhere and everything always still alive and fresh.  Gerber daisy's are my favorite and whenever I receive them from Ballard Blossom's they make me happy.   Plus the delivery driver today was friendly and thankful which I thought was funny because he was bringing flowers to me not the other way around.  :)

Though I don't tend to buy flowers from florist because I think that the prices are often outrageous for a bouquet that will wilt away within a week I do think that this is an exceptional shop.  Walking in you are hit with the wonderful smell of fresh flowers; I don't know what it is but some flower shops don't have this.  Unlike many, the shop is not so super crowded that it is hard to walk around and actually see the items; Ballard Blossom is actually rather spacious.  It has an selection of gifts items as well as flowers (planted and arranged) to choose from.  The prices of the arrangements seemed about on par with any other florist that you will find in the area.  The staff also was very nice, they weren't pushy and let me browse around (I was looking for a gift for a person that is extremely hard to buy for; thus a flower shop because who doesn't like flowers even if it is a 'well I can't think of a darn thing to get you so here you go' type of gift).  Though, I didn't end up purchasing anything in the end.  Overall though for those of you who need a really nice floral arrangement this is a shop that won't fail you as far as I could see from what they had on display.

I received a special delivery from Ballard Blossom on my birthday a few days ago. A dozen long-stemmed red roses--so fancy! Long story short, I don't know who they were from. Since I've always wanted to be a detective, I emailed them to see what kind of information they could give me about the order-er. I got a prompt reply, and while it didn't solve the mystery, it was an excellent clue. Plus they wished me a happy birthday too! I'll keep them on my list of witnesses...

After a not-very-satisfying phone call with my boyfriend, I was feeling pretty down. We have a long-distance relationship, and it's tough to not be face-to-face sometimes. So, I thought I'd send my plant-geek boyfriend flowers, extending the floral olive branch so to speak.
I called Ballard Blossom as I knew they were close to his apartment and could deliver the same day. The girl I spoke with understood exactly what I was talking about, even with my vague suggestions. I wanted a flower arrangement but didn't want it to be too girly, and it was also meant as a bit of an apology. She rattled off what she was thinking; simple, with some exotics, masculine etc.
Well, I got a call at work later that day. Those flowers made a huge impression (besides the fact that no one had ever sent him flowers before, I guess guys do like that too) and he was impressed by my thoughtfulness. He also was sure that I had given explicit detail about colors and style, because they actually co-ordinated with his apartment and the other plants in it.
So, to summarize, Ballard Blossom staff has taste and style, and worked magic out of my vague ideas. I will definitely shop with them again.
ps. The price was very reasonable too.

Since it's one of the biggest florists in town you can be pretty sure the place earned it with gorgeous arrangements and great delivery. You see their black vans all over town. Smells good and looks good when you walk in the door, and online ordering is available. I wouldn't call the place "hip" but if you want a traditional or formal arrangement this is the place to go.

Been ordering from Ballard Blossom online for years now. I live in San Diego, so never been to see the store. My mother is a gardener and plant lover and has been to all the nurseries and flower places. All of the plants I've sent her have been spectacular, knock-your-socks off, shock and awe specimens. You could spend a week looking for the best all over Washington, and not do better than anything from Ballard Blossom. And they don't know me from a turnip, just an anonymous online customer. Very impressed!

My lovely Susan and I have been happily married for 16...or is it 17? (Just kidding, I remember!) 17 blissful years now. We've known each other for 19 years so we're really close. However, in all those wonderful years and especially the early ones, I must confess, Ballard Blossom has bailed me out of some potentially cold and lonely nights of sleeping on the porch (again, Kidding?) In all seriousness though, they have helped me apologize the right way for misunderstandings and nicotine stimulated knee-jerk reactions to my flower-loving, lovely, witty, wonderful, gorgeous, snuggle-muffin, model-like wife. Fortunately for me, she now has her own garden full of flowers and all I have to do is take pictures of them for her from time to time. But, I still like to get her flowers on occation, as a surprise, and Ballard Blossom is The Place to go. They have really friendly and knowledgeable staff to put together a wonderful and colorful arrangement for the love of your life or if in a pinch, they have prearranged bouquets in some nice vases to choose from. They also have great cards and gifts for the really desperate...I mean adoring spouses/loves. And there's plenty of parking in their lot and on the street. Either way you sneeze it, It's a win-win situation.

I absolutely loved my wedding bouquets, corsages, etc. that we got a couple weeks ago!!  We wanted classy white flowers that were reminiscent of cherry blossoms while also being affordable (i.e. the flowers were not a budget priority at all), and I ended up being SO smitten with the flowers that I couldn't imagine anything else no matter what our budget could have been!   I did the entire ordering/design process over the phone and by email with Jamie, and it was super easy!  She knew all the questions to ask that I hadn't thought of.  And for my bouquet, I had some unique ideas that they handled beautifully!  Specifically, I wanted my unity candle taper to be integrated into my bouquet, so I could actually carry it down the aisle with me, lit.  It was gorgeous!  (I posted a photo)  Also, when my parents picked them up (we didn't do delivery), everything was labeled with the person's name to whom they belonged.  The whole experience was professional, artistic, and affordable.  Thanks Ballard Blossom!!

We used Ballard Blossoms for our wedding flowers - they did our personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages). I was so happy and impressed with the way they turned out, they were so beautiful. I had a really hard time expressing what I wanted - I just knew general flowers and colors I kinda liked and what I didn't like but I wasn't able to put my ideas into clear ideas. Tajah did a wonderful job of taking the bits of info I gave her about what I wanted, and turning my ideas into exactly what I wanted. She is a mind reader! The flowers were fresh and beautiful. Tajah was patient and wonderful to work with. The price was perfect for us. The flowers were ready when they said they would be. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience! A+
