We've tried it a couple of times now and we really like it. The kids remarked the last visit that they liked it more than Famous Dave's.
On Sundays, they have a special where you can have one of three or four sandwiches with a side and a drink for $7.50. Great deal for lunch after church. The pulled chicken and pork are both good, but we prefer the pork. I liked the sauces--we've tried all of them. The sweet BBQ is my fav. They have this sweet corn bake that is kind of like a creamed corn with cheese in it. Gold Peak -

I've been here twice and both times have confirmed the following:
*Food - I can barely taste the smoke on the meat. Most noticeable point to me is that I can't even smell this is a BBQ joint when I walk in. When it arrives at the table, my suspicions are confirmed. This is not a BBQ joint on anything other than name.
*Atmosphere - Acceptable, but due to every thing else I'd prefer to go to Famous Dave's or better yet, any other BBQ joint north of the river.
*Service - it's counter service and slow. The young folks they get to manage the register give the impression that I'm inconveniencing them with my desire to give them money for food.
I can only hope they can grow and succeed, as south of the river is in dire need of more quality BBQ options. -

My wife and I were finished eating for a full inning and a half of the Twins game prior to our waitress stopping by to ask how we were doing. When she asked if she could get anything else for us, I wanted to say, "the last twenty minutes of my life," but I'm too much of a pansy.
Needless to say, the service was not good. There was a sign near the entrance saying "Please wait to be seated," so I waited. And waited. I had just started to think that the sign was just a cruel joke when the waitress came by and said, "Go ahead and have a seat wherever you like." Really? Then why did I need to wait to be seated?
The inside of this restaurant is like a large open box. There are no faux walls, hallways or other nooks/crannies to divide the seating area. It works ok, but it feels a bit odd and seems to make it difficult to regulate the temperature (it was probably in the upper 70's during our visit). The menu is plastered along the top of the East wall, presumably for take-out patrons. Frankly, this is the type of restaurant that would be better served by setting up a queue that feeds directly into the cash register where the customer can place his/her own order, seat him/herself and fill his/her own fountain beverage.
Anyway, our waitress took our food order and then we began to wait for our food. While sitting there, I noticed several other servers who all seemed to be rushing around (5 total). I don't know why everyone seemed to be so damn flustered. There were exactly ten occupied tables in the restaurant which works out to be 2 tables per server. Our server was paradoxically hurried and painfully slow at checking in with us.
Eventually, we got our food and the truth of the matter is that our meal was fairly tasty. All of our meat items were both tender and juicy, but somewhat bland without any sauce. Fortunately, they have all of the standard BBQ sauces you would expect from this type of restaurant. The potato salad was very good (creamy, not tangy) and the cheesy corn bake is decent too.
Overall, the meal satisfied my appetite, but it took long for the things that should be quick. I'd consider getting takeout sometime, but I doubt I'll be back to dine-in. -

Baldy's is a family favorite of mine. My mother (who is picky as hell) really enjoys the food here.
Pros:
Decent priced BBQ
Flavorful and great variety!
Good sides choices (great corn bites and fries)
No wait to seat and take out/catering
HD sports to watch, don't overtake the eating experience though
Cons:
Not perfect for romantic sit down/cordial dining but it's not meant to be cordial either....
You seat yourself but have a server (not a deal breaker)
Overall a great place to eat for a family meal, lunch with coworkers or an evening out locally. I have heard good things about the take out service and catering and might try it this winter for some parties. -

Came for the brisket. Got the brisket and the brisket was good. Sauces are original, spicy, gold (Heinz 57) and sweet. Staff was nice and left spending $20 for including tip. All around pretty decent and I would try it again.

Great BBQ. The fries rock , are seasoned with a sour and cream (or maybe it was parmesan with chive) like seasoning.

Stopped here after a round of golf. I walked in and the place smelled great! The gal helping us out was very friendly and the food came really quick. I had the Panther Brisket sandwich and it was very full of flavor and the sides were right on too. The place is tucked away behind the mc Donalds and the hotel right there so you have to be looking for it when you get in the parking lot. We were in there mid afternoon so there wasn't much of a crowd there at all. This is the kind of place I would travel to for good BBQ, because there isn't a great selection of these types of places around the Twin Cities that aren't a chain.

This is a relatively new restaurant in the little mall next to McStop in Lakeville. Good barbecue. Excellent sausage. The sides are good, too, especially the beans. Would like to see corn bread. Getting better and better as time goes on. Friendly.

Okay BBQ. Meat doesn't stand it's own, needs dipping sauce to give it flavor. Some of he sides need a little more flavor.
