Oh Baldo's...I miss you already!
Consistently consistent yummyness!
Being open 24 hour is great. This place is a little old and run down but adds to the character I think, but you can always hit the drive through if eating there is not to your liking.
I have been coming here for years and have had their tacos, burritos, enchiladas and various other items. Nothing ever disappoints and I won't even ding them for not having coke products!
Portions are huge and usually can't be finished unless you plan to have this as your only meal for the day! Use as much hot sauce as you like cos it's good, I think my bff uses a bottle service visit.
Prices are very reasonable and I'd pay more if they charged more, but glad they don't!
Has good parking and is close to the freeway. Service is always fast and they have never messed up an order, and for someone that's picky, they get extra points for that.
If your in the 707 make this your first stop when your hungry and if your out of the area make the drive, or if just passing through the area...STOP HERE!! -

My mother and I were visiting my brother in Fairfield when he suggested we stop by this place to get some lunch. Apparently, he really likes it here. However, my brother and I are also as opposite as two people can be, whether in interests, tastes, or physical appearance. Needless to say, it's not a fine dining establishment; the interior is falling apart, almost all the booth seats have colored duct tape on them to cover up the rips, the table was sticky, and I couldn't seem to detract my eyes from this hideous blinking light show on the back wall in the shape of a Mexican candle, but I've seen far worse. Some of the best food I've ever eaten came from total hole-in-the-wall businesses that made a tool shack look like a hotel on the coast of the French Riviera.
One thing I never like to see when I walk into a Mexican restaurant is a bunch of white people. My prior (and current) restaurant experiences have led me to the conclusion that the food isn't going to be that good (or at least authentic) when the customer base doesn't reflect the ethnicity of the food. Almost all of the best ethnic food I've ever had came from restaurants where I was one of the only, if not the only, white person present. But I digress...
I ordered a burrito with beef - I can't remember the exact name - and wondered how long I'd be on the toilet after I ate it. Fortunately, I didn't have to worry about that. After just three bites, I put it down and left it. The beef was incredibly dry, and there was a total absence of ingredients and flavor. The tortilla was overcooked - almost crispy. I expected at least a little more given that I waited almost 10 minutes for it. Even people who walked in and placed their order after I sat down got their food before I did. My brother got a taco that probably tasted better than my burrito, but it still looked like regurgitated lamb curry.
Apparently my experience seems to be vastly different from that of most people who came here, but, shocked as I am, I still don't plan on returning if I'm ever in Fairfield again unless I'm about to die of starvation at 2:30 in the morning and I just happen to be on West Texas Street. -

Fairfield, CA
24 Hour Mexican Food! This place really hits the spot when you're really hungry late at night. The prices are reasonable (about 5 dollars for a big burrito) and they have plenty of items on the menu (burritos, rice plates, tacos, etc.) The food is decent but sometimes the steak can be too chewy or any of the meats can taste bland. Despite these minor gripes, I recommend this place if you are in the Fairfield area with a craving for good Mexican food.
Best things on the menu:
- Carne Asada Fries
- Horchata
- Carne Asada Burrito
- California Burrito
- Chips and Guacamole -

Absolutely horrible!
Had a $6.50 super carne asada burrito to go....threw half of it away.
For $6.50 they don't even throw in a few chips!
A burrito should have the contents disbursed equally right?
First bite salsa
Second guacamole
Third onions
forth meat
never got to the fifth!!

My son couldn't stop raving about Baldo's Mexican Restaurant. He even woke up in the middle of the night from a dream about their food. Apparently, he's a regular and loves their Carne Asada Fries. So to validate his praise I checked out the Yelpers reviews and it looked pretty interesting. I had to try it!
He volunteered to pick up a few dishes to go. We got two orders of the Carne Asada Fries and an order of Al Pastor Tacos which was not on their menu (I saw a posted picture of this dish and the tip) thanks to Yelper Samantha H. I also found out that you can order an Al Pastor Burrito as well. I guess I'm always attracted to things that are off the beaten path go figure...
The Carne Asada Fries were the bomb delicious and the portions were hefty along with the yummy Al Pastor Tacos. Both dishes were tasty good and super filling!

Still some of the BEST Mexican and it's 24 hours, yeah buddy!
Brief Summary
-- 24 hours, what-what!
-- Not too far from the freeway
-- This is the OG location, which means it's the BEST
-- Super Burritos are ridiculous
-- Carne Asada Fries are the BEST
-- Horchata, still the BEST
I just wanted to update my review. I'm still coming here, at least every time I go to Sacramento, which has been at least every few months.
I'm still loving the Chicken Super Burritos, Carne Asada Fries and Horchata. I add a lot of the red sauce they have on everything I eat. I also like to get onions and cilantro added to everything, it makes it better!
My GF tried the shrimp burrito and it was pretty good. We didn't know it was gonna come in like a fajita style shrimp with onions and bell peppers. Otherwise it would have been perfectly on point.
I don't ever go to the Vallejo or Vacaville locations because I believe this is the BEST one, but maybe someday I'll check them out if I'm really that desparate.Listed in: My Favorite Food, Dinner Dates, Mexican = mhmmm, My 707 Spots

Large horchata is a must to go with any choice.
I live in the OC and have access to better Mexican food coming from LA & SD. Sooo, these carne asada fries are alright, not bad though. They need to marinate their meat a little bit more, but it's good for a Mexican spot in Fairfield, CA. -

Fairfield, CA
So.... I went with my friend. He surprised me when he told me we'd be going to Baldo's. I was annoyed because I did not want to go. The food is all junk. I hate junk food. He forced me to eat the carne asada fries.... I was kind of mad that he didn't let me order what I wanted. Ugh.... Anyway, when I got the meal, I looked at it in disgust, honestly. It looked really gross....
But, I was really surprised; it was actually pretty tasty! I loved the gooeyness of the cheese and the sour cream with the steak. But, I didn't even eat a quarter of it. It was too much for my tummy to handle (and I was afraid of consuming more bad calories, honestly).
I went into a food coma.
I really LOVED the horchata. Hands down, that was one of the best I had ever drank in my life. It reminded me of the horchata that one of my classmates had..... I think I want to go back soon for that...
Well... not too soon because I'm a super health nut, and I don't normally eat these things, perhaps only once every few weeks I go out. Though, the regret that I usually get from eating fast food quickly diminished after about 10 minutes eating it. It was too darn delicious.
All the fatty protein gooeyness of the carne asada fries made me super sleepy though. -

Infamous to all those who inhabit Fairfield, Baldo's is a spot that effectively redefined my limited viewpoint on Mexican cuisine. Where I once held the typical ignorance of the many, courtesy of Taco Bell and Chevy's, I have Baldo's to thank for making me stop and think before I step into another inauthentic, Americanized style of food. I'm not even going to comment on specific items I've tried on the menu, it's hard to go wrong with this place.
And like everyone else, my votes in for Carne Asada Fries. Though I have not had the joy of eating it since my conversion to vegetarianism, those fries continue to make me hesitate. -

Baldo's is one of the best places to get Carne Asada Fries. It's a large serving, for a reasonable price. Their menu is full of traditional dishes as well, all of which have yet to let me down.
Definitely a must try if you are close by.Listed in: Mexican

It is what it is, it's Taco Bell on volume 10... it's what fast Mexican food was suppose to be. No fuss, no muss. The food is hot and very tasty. The California Burrito is killer! No frills place, no happy meals, or soft drink cups with Spiderman on the side or no free trinkets with the meal, just damn good food, generous portions.
I support this local business Mom & Pop type family ran business. The place is impeccably clean too, another plus. -

Vacaville, CA
In the fastfood breakfast burrito department this place is hard to beat. My baby bro got me hooked on 'em a year ago when I broke my ankle. Sometimes he'd bring the bacon & sometimes he'd bring the sausage. I just ordered one w/both & it's HELLA scrump! Cheese status is halfway melted which is my preferred way. They don't put salsa on it so be sure to grab some extra on the side. Grab a fat horchata & it's over! You might be useless for the next hour so keep that in mind. Now go..all of you..to Baldos!

I had the carne asada burrito today and it was hella HUGE. It was filled with MEAT to the MAX! $5? Bargain. But I've had better burritos better. Quantity doesn't always mean tasty.
I almost finished it... :)

Food for one thing and one thing only... CARNE ASADA FRIES!.
On my way to tahoe to get my snowboard on all I wanted was a stop for carne asada fries!
After a long day on the slopes and heading back home, all I wanted was a stop for carne asada fries.
When you never really get carne asada fries, you take every oppurtunity possible to stop and get them at Bald's.
Fries, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, packed to the max carne asada!
Minus one star because, they're pretty dirty and I hate the paper they put the fries on, i end up eating at times!!! -

Service in the drive thru is pretty fast...watch out for the pot holes tho. If you got the late night munchies and feeling some Mexican food, hit up Baldo's feed the craving. -

Baldo's is similar to that of Adalberto's. Both restaurants serve breakfast burritos, combo plates, carne asada fries, burritos, tacos, etc. The prices vary at each location as well. Now, if I had to choose between the two, I would definitely go with Baldo's.

Traveling for work all around northern california brings me to a lot of random destinations. I was driving down the street starving and wondering what I could eat on my long drive home. I can make a mess with many a food, but would consider myself an expert in the 'driving while eating a burrito etiquette dept'. I saw this place and remembered I had tried the Baldo's in Vacaville about 5-6 years ago and enjoying it, but honestly couldn't remember what I ate or what I enjoyed about it.
Baldo's has a fast food feel, but tastes better than your average Taco Bell or Del Taco. You can go through a drive thru and you can eat late night. Your food is served quickly and it is cheap. I was a little nervous about getting an upset stomach so I got a basic chicken burrito. The chicken was shredding and juicy and the burrito was perfectly wrapped. For some reason I was really into the hot sauce they gave me although it didn't seem to be something special. I dumped it all inside my burrito.
Not that I ever want to go back to Fairfield, but if I do, I'll probably eat here. -
Review from Betty W.
It's a running joke between my roommates and I that there's nothing in Fairfield. We all go to school in Davis, but for some reason always have a reason to be in Fairfield. Whether it be in passing to get gas or to visit a friend, someone's always mentioning Fairfield.
"Dude, what's in Fairfield anyway?"
"Bitch, there are jelly beans, okay?"
Nothing but love for Fairfield (or Fartfield as my dear friend Tim B. lovingly calls it - shout out!) and for having one of the two Jelly Belly factories in the country (hell yeah), but there's actually more than just jelly beans there.
There's Baldo's, too.
Carne asada fries are arguably, or most likely, way tastier down south. But, for the Fairfield/Vacaville/Davis crowd? I really don't think you can do any better. Especially when you've spent a whole night getting emo!drunk wasted with your roommates then making the barely-awake drive for some carne asada fries.
$6.75 for a styrafoam box stuffed to the brim with greasy skinny fries topped with sloppy dollops of sour cream, melty cheese, and a massive, delicious smothering of chewy, fatty carne asada for days. Drench the entire concoction with 2-3 containers of hot sauce and salsa verde, and then go to TOWN on it.
I woke up feeling like death warmed over, my sheets reeking of tequila and cheap rum, and smelling like pork grease today (sexy can I? I know) . . . and it was awesome. -

I was really apprehensive after I went to the location in Vacaville (Scary)!
What a breath of fresh air! Ok, I'll knock off the drama.
This used to be the old dairy queen. I can only be happy that they are gone, even though I was the DQ fan, just not the one at this location. But that's not what you want to know about, it is.
Let's talk about quick and inexpensive Mexican Fast Food, done right. My favorites -
Carne Asada Fries - Yes Gringo ala Mexico. Crispy crinkle fries topped with cheese, chopped carne asada, guacamole and sour cream. Weighs about 3 pounds and is about $6.95. Enough for 1 sumo wrestler or 2 normal eaters, or 3 of those skinny you know who's.
Super Carne Asada Nacho's - A layer of Nacho's (duh), beans (refried), spanish aka Mexican rice, Carne Asada, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, salsa and lettuce. About 5 pounds and about $7.95. Enough for the Jolly Green Giant or the seven Dwarfs.
Taquitos - Little tortillia's filled with beef or chicken, rolled and deep fried. Top with cheese, guacamole and sour cream. Don't remember the price, but I think they average about $.075 each with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5. When I get the large order, I may or may not share 1 of them. Depends on how much I like you.
Carne Asada Salad - $$$$ BARGAIN $$$$$ I think this is under 5 dollars. Lettuce, tomato, avacado and a ton of Carne Asada. Only drawback...... No dressing. My suggestion - Keep a bottle in the refrigerator at work (ranch works well).
And - HORCHATA!
Open 24 hours - You can call your order in - limited parking - drive thru available! No, they don't have a menu on-line. No, they don't have a menu to-go. But, pretty much if you've seen it on a Mexican Menu, they either have it or can make it! And this location is nice and clean. Can't vouch for the bathroom. I have one at work that I can vouch for. -

Baldo's sucks as far as Mexican food is concerned. Terrible food with equally matched workforce. If I were rating them for their X-Lax like qualities, I would give a 5. Garbage in...Garbage back out quicker than expected. Be sure to try the $5.75 stomach ache or don't miss the fiesta Intestinal Cramp Combo... Compared to Baldo's, Dennys is fine dining.

How could it be I passed through Vacaville all them years (and even outlet shop 2x more) and never knew about Baldo's till a college snowboarding trip?
Not saying its the best, but will say its the best 24hr mexican joint (that i know of).
Hands down, the ONLY reason to come back:
CARNE ASADA FRIES
so disgustingly delicious. Afraid I would get heart attack if I ever tried to finish an order alone! -
Review from Solano N.
Fairfield, CA
I can't believe how many reviewers are saying this place changed how they look at Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, Baldo's has it's place- but that place is 3:00AM when you're drunk.
Their food is fast, cheap, and 24 hours. Loaded with salt and grease, it's the perfect cap to a night of debauchery. But please, please, do NOT use this style of food to represent "Mexican" food. The Mexicans around here would be appalled! Carne Asada Fries? Fries?! Seriously?!? This place is Mexican like Panda Express is Chinese!
With that said, I think I'm going to go get a Carne Asada Taco and a Horchata. It's late Sunday night, and Alejandro's is closed. -

My recommendation: CARNE ASADA FRIES W/ BACON. And their Chicken Quesadilla is also pretty good.
This place isn't fancy nor is it healthy, but it is for sure good! If you're craving carne asade fries and don't mind getting a bit fat and don't wanna spend too much money, this place is where to go. The only problem for us San Franciscans is that it's all the way in Fairfield. -
Review from Jaime P.
Ahh Baldo's my favorite Mexican restaurant in the North Bay! This place has all of the essential offerings that I could want and expect from a cheap Mexican food spot! They have a 24 hour drive thru and the best carne asada fries that you can find in Northern California.
Once I got a chance to meet the owner during one of my daytime drive-thru trips and I mentioned I had come all the way from Danville for some of those delicious carne asada fries, and he gave my horchata for free!
On a side note I usually get their food to go, just because I'm usually heading home at that point and the area is slightly seedy. However the Fairfield location is way better than the Vacaville one, only because its slightly less ghetto, but if you're just getting your food to go, no biggie. -

Decent carne asada fries. Pretty cheap and large portions. The bathroom situation is kinda sketch and requires you to step outside the restaurant and walk around 2 corners before entering in this shady room with toilets and dividers but not really any doors. Pretty disconcerting for those who aren't exhibitionists.

Dang man, if you're in Fairfield and you're craving, say, a burrito, rolled tacos, or a torta, HEAD HERE FOR GOODNESS SAKES!
The burritos here are huge and super flavorful. The meats are well seasoned and juicy, not dull, bland, and dry like some other comparable spots. The rolled tacos here = the ultimate snack (or meal if you're a glutton). You get your choice of meats, and it gets all rolled up and fried, nice and hot. Breakfast burritos here are super filling and delicious. You may not need to eat lunch after having one of these bad boys! Another thing you gotta try here is the carne asada fries. Some people will tell you (especially obnoxious food snobs from San Diego) that any other carne asada fries are not real carne asada fries. Please do kindly shut up. Don't act like there's only mexican cooks where you live, HA. That said, the carne asada fries here are amazing, and you get a whole lotta em. Words do em no justice, just go have them! They work the same magic on the nachos as well =]
Another plus is that they're open 24/7, so if you have some late night fixins for mexican food in Fairfield, skip the taco bell and head over here. This place may be small, but the food here is big and you will definitely leave satisfied. -

Los Angeles, CA
Eating Carne Asada Fries brings back memories of frantically gobbling down delicious, soggy, meat-y, cheesy fries without attracting the attention of my Spanish teacher during 5th period. Oh, Junior year.
It's best to share those fries with a friend, or maybe 3 friends because it's seriously enough to last for a few meals. Apparently, the portions are bigger when you choose to eat there instead of ordering it to go. The horchata is A+. Basically, expect a food coma to hit about 2 secs after finishing your food. -
Review from Christopher L.

What the hell, I don't care if it's authentic or not. All I get here is bland, heavy, and unsettling. Soggy carne asada fries. Boring chimichanga. One-dimensional flavors all around. I suppose it's okay for the post-drunkfest crowd.

Came here because of fellow yelpers. Was a little apprehensive because I was taking a client here. Wasn't too bad when I saw it. It was a franchise place before.
Not much to say about it. Quick, prompt service at the front. When your orders ready they yell out your number and you walk back up to pick it up.
Check out the pictures. I had the Taco and Enchilada. My client had the Tostada and Enchilada. Looks almost the same under the mass of lettuce and cheese that they put on it. Oh...underneath? Underneath is where the beans and rice are. They smothered sauce around the outside edge of the plate.
Since we were eating in-house, instead of giving us a styrofoam lid box, they gave us a small flimsy styrofoam plate. That's why they had to stack the entrees on top of the rice and beans. Kind of a moshy way to eat and sounds like something I'd do at home. However, if I'm at a restaurant paying $7.50 for each plate, I'd expect a nice big hot real plate. Not something piled up on a styrofoam plate.
Taste? It's okay. Nothing special. Not too salty. Not too tasty. Didn't taste bad. Didn't taste great. Hot sauce provided was not hot.
Eh...It says it's open 24 hours. I guess if it's a last resort late night run I may run here instead of the border...
(My dog loved their taquitos. But that's not saying much. He loves eating anything...) -

Did someone say Carne Asada Fries?
Menu:
First of all, II don't recommend the shrimp.. it didn't taste all that good. If you get tacos, expect them to be a bit on the large side. The burritos are ok. But the one think this place has is good carne asada fries! I remember making treks here during college to get late night carne asada fries. or order from friends when I was heading to Davis.
Drinks:
Sodas mainly. They also have good horchata.
Price:
Cheap! items are usualy around $5-$10
Service:
Not the best... but not the worst either. Some days they can be a bit rude.
Ambiance:
Yet another hole in the wall place with good food. Totally casual. great for a late night run!
Location:
Its got its own beat down lot. Not too hard to find and right off the freeway. -

San Jose, CA
On a trip back to San Jose from Lake Tahoe, we made a stop here because they supposedly have the "best" carne asada fries.
I don't know about the best, but one of the most surprising things about the fries was the fact that they weren't TOO greasy. Compared to local favorites in San Jose such as the Iguana's Burritozila, the steak fries at Baldo's remain crisp and don't have oil dripping out of every forkful.
Smothered on top of the fries, as usual, was sour cream, cheddar, and carne asada. It was all good, but they really lack a kicking flavor. While the hot salsa and salsa verde gave it a lot of its flavor, it's a bit disappointing to know that Baldo's doesn't have their own signature style sauce.
But for the price you get everything at, Baldo's is quite legit. I didn't even mention the fact that breakfast burritos are served ALL DAY, and the other cool thing is that it's open 24 hours, so if you have any sort of gluttonous craving, Baldo's is the place. I didn't try a regular burrito, but I will one day.
What's stopping this place from getting five stars? The heat of the place. Sure, Mexican joints don't usually have air conditioners, but you'd at least expect to see an electric fan. The windows aren't even open. What's the point of having windows that cannot be opened? I sweat like an animal the entire time I ate, and with that--I felt like Adam Richman from Man v. Food.
But yes, this place is quite a spot. -

The food is very typical Mexican style food but they get another star because they're open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week! That's dedication!
Again, not much to say except that you can ALWAYS get your mexican food fix here. -

My SO and I have been missing our Baldo's nachos in Vacaville since the unfortunate accident caused it to close indefinitely a mere week ago. I was delighted to find out via Yelp that they have another location just off the highway in Fairfield! I drive through Fairfield every week to and from class, so I decided to stop by on the way home and satisfy our nachos fix.
I was really pleasantly surprised by this location. I was expecting it to be a carbon copy of Vacaville's Baldo's, but it was much nicer and cleaner inside, with no ripped up seats. It's still doesn't have exceptional ambiance or anything, but it's more on the level of a typical fast food chain. The area it was in appeared to be less sketchy as well. I could actually see myself sitting down to eat a meal here in the future, which I can't say of the other Baldo's. As hoped, this location has very friendly staff and delicious greasy Mexican food, of course, as well as the same drive-through and 24-hour schedule. I think I'll be dropping by here more after class in the future. -

Let me start with this...I have lived in Southern California for a while before moving back to the Bay Area. While there, I was introduced to some awesome Mexican food and the concept of Carne Asada Fries.
Living in the Bay Area, I still crave the massive burritos and tacos packed with meat, the huge cups of horchata, and of course...Carne Asada Fries. Baldo's definitely fills that void. It's Mexican food for a cheap price, which is a plus for a 20-something year old.
HOWEVER, it's just not the same. The quality and taste just does not even compare to the restaurants in Southern California (if you want awesome Carne Asada Fries and you're in the greater SoCal area, try Lolita's in San Diego). If you can't understand that, perhaps you should try living in SoCal for a few years. On the other hand, Baldo's does the job. Overall, it's STILL good Mexican food. Definitely give this place a try!
PS: A nifty trick that I learned from my friends in SoCal was to replace the carne asada in the fries with something else (like carnitas for example). Try it sometime! -

Oh my.......
I do love this place. I drive from Vallejo just to get late night baldos. Of course the carne asada fries are the best. The #24 breakfast burrito is a DEAL!! This place tops all breakfast burritos in my neighborhood. The super burritos are also great...i have not tried everything on the menu because there is such a wide variety.
Also...order the horchata with your meal. Complete the mexican dining experience.
