I had a pretty good experience with Baldo's, I cant complain about the grease on my food as I did order Chorizo.  I do agree with one of the previous reviews mentioning a girl who was rude, but the girl in question wasn't really rude, she was just unpleasant.  I can't be sure if it's the same girl or maybe they just like hiring unpleasant women at that place.

I got the Chorizo, Egg & Potatoe (that's really how they spelled it on the menu), greasy as expected but can readily serve as a pick me up from late-night benders or just to fulfill whatever munchies you have.  I was disappointed that I had to pay for chips and pico de gayo, but the chips were worth the dollar as they give you a to-go box full of hot off the fryer (or maybe heat lamp) tortilla chips.

One last observation I have though that I thought was hilarious and ironic was that there was a family of four eating the same time as us and the dad went up to the counter asking for a bag and complained to the manager that he asked for his eggs over-easy and that "they f*cked it up" and as a result his son supposedly refused to eat his food and instead made a mess at their table.  I saw the manager feeling bad for the guy but the gentleman didn't look like he wanted any consoling and more to the point he was just bitching.  ANYWHO the family of four walk out, a few minutes later when we were finished with out meal, long behold the family of four with a car that wont start and who is out there to help?  The manager of course.  :)

I was glad to have made that HILARIOUS observation on top of getting my grease fix.

I've eaten there quite a bit over the last year.  Their food is overall really good but there are times when my carne asada nachos are swimming, literally swimming in a pool of grease.  You don't notice until you've eaten past half the chips then you want to vomit.  I've bitten into a lot of gristle when eating a cali burrito or anything else with carne asada.  Also, it seems like a lot of my carne is actually ground beef, regardless of what I order.

This might sound bitchy but the food is overall really good.  I'm just very picky and I know where they can do better.  I'm sure they do, too.

Last time I ate here, I did not get what I ordered.  The girl acted like I was a bother.  And my taco al pastor was DRIPPING grease.

It will be a while before I venture back.

Comparing this Baldo's to the one in Fairfield...it's just eh-ah-ight.  When they first opened up, I got my usual...CARNE ASADA FRIES.  Unfortunately, it just didn't do it for me.  The fries were super soggy, the meat was tough and the cheese didn't melt right. And it just wasn't the first time I went....but also the second/last time after that.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time (grand opening and all) but because they did me wrong 2x in a row...hmmm..thanks but no thanks.

Since then I told myself Fairfield Baldo's only.  It has been awhile (more than a year) and mayyyyyybe they got the hang of things by now...so we'll see. Maybe I'll give them one more try.  Stay tuned for an updated review.

I'd never eaten here prior to the other day, but am super familiar with the Baldo's in Fairfield and the Vallejo location doesn't dissappoint one bit!

    But some background information..

When I was an undergrad student at Davis, whenever I'd come back for the weekend..I used to stop by the Fairfield Baldos on the way home to San Jose or on the way back up to Davis (or sometimes both lol). So over the span of almost three years, I ate here alot!

Baldos is a hybrid between a taqueria and a taco bell. By no means is it authentic at all, but it does give you more taqueria meat choices like chorizo, al pastor, and carne asada.

So authentic? definitley not..but is it good?? HELL YES. You'd probably develop health conditions if you eat here on the daily, but it sure is tasty. Portions are huge and extremely cheap. the orders of nachos and fries can be easily shared amongst two or three people.

They are most known for their carne asada fries, but i am also a big fan of the rolled tacos, breakfast burritos, and carne asada nachos. There is no better drunk munchies then Baldos! The chorizo breakfast burrito and a gatorade is the perfect hangover cure.

I hadnt even here in here since late 2009, but pricing hasn't changed too much and more importantly the food is stiill the same :) . And when I jammed my fork into that styrofoam box of fries and gooey mess of carne asada, guac, and sour cream and put it into my mouth..the old memories came back as if it was yesterday!

    LOVE THIS PLACE!

I seriously have bowel issues every time after I eat here.

Here are the culprits to satiate my drunken munchies:
#21 breakfast burrito with egg, potato and chorizo
Chile rellenos plate (it's huge, so share!)
Carne (they have al pastor also) asada fries
California burrito (carne asada with fries inside)

I'm spoiled with drunk Mexican food in the mission and in so cal. I've definitely had better.  Blame it on the alcohol for me coming back here all. the. time.

Carne Asada Fries are sooooo GOOD (:

the one thing i regret is adding the bacon though. i thought it was going to be the thin crispy kind of bacon that comes on breakfast platters. but it came out to be big thick cubes of bacon. and that was just a fail. so beware of the bacon!

Drive through Burrito's in the middle of the night in any town is a good thing. I work nights and I've pulled into this place after 2AM and got some of the biggest burrito's I've ever had. The chips are very good and the hot sauce dip is very tasty. I think the drive through is open 24\7.

    I love this place.
One of my favorite things about Vallejo.
Best 2am stop on my way home after playing shows, getting a last minute dinner for the kids (older daughter LOVES the chicken nachos, and younger one loves the carne asada tacos) or just because i'm feeling too lazy to cook.
Reasonably priced, good drive-thru service and did i mention the food's good?

FYI - the breakfast burritos are F@#KING great.

OK for fast food; my boyfriend likes this place but the only thing I can find that I like on the menu is the chips with guacamole and cheese (they don't melt it).

They never melt the cheese for some reason. I had cheese enchiladas once and they just rolled cold cheese inside and put red sauce on it :(

Carne Asada Fries: Overpriced and tasted like eating up someones vomit :(

Carne Asada Burrito: Lots of chewy fatty peaces of meat, kind of grossed me out :(

My boyfriend loves the chimichanga~So you might want to start with that and the chips with guac and cheese.

3 stars for being 24 hours.

EDIT: Veggie Burrito (Super) is amazing~

Yes, another Carne Asada fries review!

I'm a big fan of Carne Asada fries.. when I had my first taste of it a couple Summers ago at Adalberto's (Fairfield), I've been dying for more. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area and driving out for just food isn't practical to me. But, when I discovered there was a Baldo's down the street from my uncle's house; I had to try their take on Carne Asada fries.

I took my cousin (from Hawaii) who never had it before and decided to share an order of Carne Asada fries and a large/extra large Horchata. Thinking this would not fill us up, we were pleasantly surprised on how generous the portions were. We both didn't have breakfast and as a late Lunch, we still couldn't finish it.

My gripes about this restaurant is:
    - Parking lot: for the amount of spaces to park versus the amount of chairs to sit inside; it does not add up. If the parking is full, your only alternative is to use the drive thru - which can get impacted quick.
    - Dining in: the tables and chairs were grimey. I actually had to clean them myself. I can't really blame the restaurant for people who can't aim for their mouths when they eat.. but, I can blame them for having 3-4 (5 at most) employees not doing a thing to tidy the place a bit.
    - Drink: I would suggest asking for no ice if you order Horchata or any type of drink. It's about 60% ice and the rest is liquid.

Personally, I never had authentic Mexican food so I can't say that this was the best. For my sake, this definitely beats me having to drive out to Fairfield for Carne Asada fries, any day. For the decent prices and portions, I try to stop by whenever I'm in town. Sounds like the burritos/fish tacos will be my next take.

Their $10 for $20 worth of food was such a good deal. With that I ordered 2 orders of Carne Asada fries, one with bacon, and one with chorizo, and 1 Bacon breakfast burrito which actually cost me only $13! It was totally worth it because all in all It would've been twice that price.

Their breakfast burritos are amazing! I prefer the breakfast burrito with bacon or chorizo with sour cream! If you get it with chorizo, be prepare to wrap it with more napkins unless you want some greasy fingers.

Thank you for opening up a spot in the V....now I can have my Baldo's fix everytime I visit the fams.

Baldo's....how do I love thee? Let me count the ways:

    1. Carne Asada Fries
    2. Carnitas Tacos
    3. Fish Tacos (my buddy had them and proclaimed them the best ever)
    4. Damned good Horchata

The first time we hit up this Baldo's our order was taken by a nice young guy (I say young...but he was probably my age, LOL) who chatted us up a bit and then later told us that his family owned the Baldo's chain. He was super nice and we complimented him on the food and service while we ate.

Crossing my fingers that this chain will make it to the south bay. Until then, I'll be hitting it up anytime Im hanging out in the V.

    Four Carne Asada stars!

It's not the BEST Mexican Food that I've ever had, but for some reason I've gone here three times just this week!

Baldo's has done a pretty good job serving up GREASY taqueria-style eats for people on the fly. Although they offer up Carnitas and Al Pastor as options for the usual burritos and tacos on the menu, the JUICY BITS are missing. I'm talking about Lengua, Buche, Cabeza, etc. Come on Baldo's! Is it so hard to ask you to represent?

I'm not gonna be TOO hard on their food, but I've found that it's pretty hit-or-miss depending on when you decide to visit. I've ordered two Carne Asada burritos this week and one came out perfect while the other turned out RIDICULOUSLY salty!

Other than these operational shortcomings, it still remains a convenient place to swing by if you're in a pinch. Just don't expect any of the food to blow your mind!

Mmm... this is the best place to go in Vallejo to get some post-drinking or even pre-drinking food! I am sad I have only recently discovered this place after being in Vallejo for 3 years :(

I love their carne asada fries! I like how the carne asada is chopped up into smaller pieces and isn't too chewy. Get the green hot sauce to go with it. Delicious! Yes, the food is greasy (kind of weird looking at the pile of oil on the bottom of the fries) but who cares! So yummy :)

This review is only for the Carne Asada Fries.

DAMN YOU TOLL for being $5 :[ otherwise, I'd be able to enjoy my all time favorite drunk munchies, carne asada fries. Everytime I come back to the OC I always have to have carne asada fries. Now let me just clarify, they still cannot compare to the CAFs of OC/SD.. but for the bay area.. its good enough! i think they were around 6 or 7 dollars.

    + thin fries!
+ good carne asada, not too salty or dry
+ good hot sauce! it actually had some heat to it
+ coming close to so cal carne asada fries.
+ takes credit and open 24hrs
    + horchata.. mmmmm!

    - not having beans or pico de gallo on the fries.. i understand not having beans.. but pico de gallo! come on!
    -  the cheese not being melted! i hate that!
    - pretty skimp for the price.. i don't think the whole bottom of the box was even full.. i mean hello how much are french fries anyway?! super cheap!

Open one in  richmond! or oakland.. or somewhere on the way home from drinking in SF!!!

The number 24 breakfast burrito is all I every order from here, and all I need to ever order from here because it is so good!

I don't do fast food places much, but when I do we usually end up going to Baldos because they make some great burritos and tacos as really good prices.  On top of that, they are opened 24 hours a day!

The #24 burrito has always been me go to burrito at this place.  It's got all the fatty greasy goodness of a breakfast meal all wrapped up in a borrito (eggs, cheese, bacon and potatoes.)  My fiance usually gets the California burrito with rice added.  All their food comes in large portions and they are pretty consistent with how they make everything.

The staff is pretty cool and are helpful when you can't decide what to eat (or if you are looking to take a bunch of their tasty hot sause home with you.)  The eatery itself looks just like any other fast food place with cheap plastic seating and tables, and the drive through window is in a bad location.  If there are more then 2 cars in line at the drive through, you will be waiting in line out in the street blocking traffic (which often happens during the very late night food rush.)

The last time we went here, the drive through line was pretty long so we just decided to go in and order our food to go.  I saw a small puddle of dried blood close to the front door, as if someone either got hit by a car walking to the door, or ghettoness happened recently.  Even with this, the food is still good enough to where it didn't stop me from getting my #24.

Good place, and I am glad they finally have one in Vallejo.  If you are a fan of breakfast burritos, be sure to try the #24 or you will regret it.

Okay so it's not quality Mexican food but it's cheap, SUPER filling, and definitely hits the spot. Plus it's open 24 hours AND they serve their breakfast burritos all day long! This location has a drive-thru if you are super lazy or making a quick stop for a fulfilling fix. They have tons of burrito/taco/tortas selections that would pretty much make anyone happy.

I don't know how the food is in the daytime but never order anything at night from there. Me and my girlfriend ordered chicken quesadillas and I got a carne asada burrito and the quesadillas had more cheese than chicken and my burrito wasn't even warm. I'll never eat there again it already has a reputation for being the place to go when you're drunk and hungry at night so they probably don't care how they make it at nighttime

I think anyone on here that gives this place more than one star never tasted mexican fast food from So Cal and is just rating based on portion size...This place sux...I just had a carne asada burritto and I swear I was eating a brick of salt...the meat texture was almost powdery and the guac was non-existant.  I could only stomach a quarter of it and after a nap I threw up a little in my mouth.

Shame on you people from So Cal on here that rated this place an adequate replacement.

The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that their horchata isn't watered down like all the other so called authentic mexican joints in NO Cal.

Where else would you drive half an hour and pay toll charge just to get fast food, at 3am, after a series of barhopping and other activities, just to get fast food (with DD)?

    BALDOS.

It's famous (actually, I'm not sure about the famous part) for its carne asada fries. PERFECT munchies. Fries, layered with sour cream, lots of guacamole, chunks of diced carne asada, and topped with a blanket of cheddar cheese. I heard one of these has like 2,000 calories in it, but it's worth it, oh so worth it! I've driven to Vallejo from Berkeley just for the fries.

However, despite all the rave of the carne asada fries, the fries themselves were just alright--they could be a lot more crunchier. It's a little too soggy as is. Haven't tried the other food, so can't comment too much on that.

The dine-in closes after a certain time, but it's pretty late because I got there at 10pm and it was still open. After the dine-in closes, you can still get drive through (although I think you actually need a car to do this, you can't just walk through the drive-through lane) and then eat in the parking lot. Speaking of the parking lot, it's pretty big, but if it's full, it's hard to find parking nearby because there's no street parking.

This place is good but only in theory...

I first ever ate this kind of Mexican food at Adalberto's in Fairfield which is still my #1 preference. Then through word of mouth, everyone raves about Baldo's in Fairfield which I thought was greasier than Adalberto's. Now they've opened a Baldo's in Vallejo!! Why couldn't it have been an Adalberto's???

    What I've tried:
    + Carne Asada Fries - mmm you need a tough stomach for this. It's yummy IN THEORY but honestly just look at it O_O;
+ Burritos - are HUGE!! And if there isn't any sour cream -- are dry (so I suggest asking to add sour cream). Plus the inevitable left overs from the huge burritos are NEVER good later so I would pass on burritos in general.
+ Fish taco - good size, I like these.
+ Chicken crunchy taco -- yummy chicken! But I wish the crunchy tortilla shell was a little more authentic rather than looking like a more generic version of Taco Bell's...

Overall tip:  Skip the burrito and get a taco~

I'm over carne asada fries.  They're good here, but I've had them sooooooo much that I'm just over it.

They've got good horchata, and I love that they accomodate me with my special order of a surf n turf super burrito (carne asada and shrimp) with no beans.  The food's good, prices are decent, and I don't have to drive all the way to Fairfield now.

California burrito aka Carne Asada Fries Burrito why have I NOT heard of this before.  I ordered this and added the guacamole to go (on the clock at the time) and it was all I could imagine.  At first glance it looked like a typical burrito with some soggy fries but those soggy fries when holding in all the artery bursting fatty goodness we all love.
This place may not be the "best" because we all the know it is never as good as the first 'time' but their California Burrito can't be found anywhere around my parts of NorCal.
Cheers to you compadres at Baldo's...giving The Mecca a run for its money.

What is all the hype over carne asada fries??

Carne asada fries. Shrimp fries. Al pastor fries. Any veggie or meat combo over fries. Actually anything with fries has to be the ultimate in goodness. That, it is. However, the whole concept behind carne asada fries is that a mounting heap of sour cream & guacamole (not a dallop), melted cheese, fresh salsa, beans, and cilantro is factored into the equation.

Think ultra super fat burrito. However, knock off the tortilla and pile all the ingredients atop a mound of crispy golden fries.

As tasty and delicious as it is, I can feel my ateries clog just thinking about it. This is definitely an entree worth sharing w/ friends. It's also advisable to wash it down with lots of water. This is not a dish you should have on the daily.

Bottom line: The al pastor and shrimp fries at Baldo's were both really good. Amazingly fast and reasonably priced, too. There is plenty of open seating inside and parking outside was easy.

Vallejo isn't the first city I think about when craving Mexican food. The options are scarce and even then, most of the places excel in mediocrity.

That is not the case at Baldo's. It's actually pretty good.

After all the hype I heard about Baldo's, I finally made it to the Vallejo location. I've been on a mission to find the best Carne Asada Fries in the bay. I fell in love with Carne Asada fries 2years ago in SD @ a spot called Lolita's and never found the right spot to go to in the bay. Someone mentioned to me go to Fremont and the mission in SF but the reviews sucked!! Then someone mentioned Baldo's in Fairfield but seemed so far!! About 4 months ago they finally came to the city of Vallejo.

Today I thought since I'm in the area, why don't I check out Baldo's. As I drove in the parking lot, I noticed they had a 24 hour drive thru!! wow Inside it looked like McDonald's heheh but the items on the menu were cheap!! So I waited patiently for my Carne Asada fries and it took about 7mins. When I took my first bite, I was in HEAVEN!!!

I can't vouch for the rest of their food, but I was completely satisfied with my meal =)

Baldo's, you have to understand, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the food still. It's just as delicious as your previous 2 locations. That is not my gripe here. This 3 stars is not towards the food or the service. However it IS geared towards this city's denizens who have decided to treat your restaurant like their own personal night club.

I can't say if any of those people in there are true Baldo's fans or not, but I would beg to differ. The only reason most of them are there is probably due to there being no 24 hour hangout spots in Vallejo. That, frankly, sucks because they're ruining it for the people who are actually there to eat the awesome food (especially for those that would like to SIT DOWN INSIDE). This is evidenced by the long drive-thru line that one must deal with on a typical night since the opening. What really kills me is i've never seen it THIS busy at Fairfield or Vacaville. How are all these people coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden? Sure, people are not flocking from those cities to ours since they have their own respective locations. Does Vallejo just have a bandwagon mindset when new things open? I haven't a clue.

I apologize for this rant as, again, I still LOVE the food. But the tremendous wait caused by people people who are simply loitering is becoming borderline unacceptable. I hope that in weeks to come, things will die down. Then, i'll be able to write a review proper. But for now, I just cant do it. Some people just like to ruin a good thing.

Baldo's has been all the rave lately.  Their Vacaville and Fairfield locations have been highly successful, so Vallejo is lucky to have their own in what's known as the old KFC.  Newly opened, they've already seen a high volume of customers with their drive thru regularly backed up--it helps that it's open 24 hours.  I can already see them taking away business from the nearby Taco Bell.

A quick glance at the menu, and I could tell that this was not the place for a vegetarian to be dining.  I wouldn't be surprised if their "vegetable" burrito had meat in it and/or was soaked in lard beforehand.

Still, I was interested in eating one of their creations, even if it wouldn't be their famous carne asada. They serve breakfast all day, and I jumped at the chance to get myself an egg and potato.  It was heavenly.  Upon closer inspection, there was speculation as to whether the darker pieces were the potato skin or a piece of sausage.  It didn't taste like meat, so I continued consuming it anyway, aware that I may have ingested pieces of meat product the entire time.  My conscience was clear, and my belly was happy.  I was longing for that same burrito again the following morning.

My brother's humongous carne asada nachos had a couple of french fries in it.

Moral of the story, don't be surprised if you get a lil surprise in your meal.

The Vallejo location is NOT as good as the one in Fairfield. So I come here one day and order the carne asada fries. While it was still delicious as I remember from the Fairfield location, it was freaking cold! It was like it was pre-prepared and sitting on the back counter for the last half hour. WTF?

Baldo's, I do love you, but please shape up!

Order the carne asada fries. Hope it's not cold. Repeat.

Like everybody said, the carne asada fries are a must have!

I got the fish taco, which was HUGE! It reminded me of Rubios but tastier and bigger! I definitely recommend it. Bf got the supreme chicken burrito. It looked like a piece of..uh. Well it came out as shredded chicken with lots of beans and all the stuff that comes with supreme, totally forgot to tell the lady grilled chicken! Whoops. But whatever, he liked it so that's good! We also got a large horchata, which was SOOO tasty! But you can't really mess up on that.

1 star off, because the food wasn't ORGASMIC. It was just okay-good and carne asada fries' a treat :)
