Davis, CA
This is a great place to get carne asada fries during the late nights. Their Carne Asada Fries are DELICIOUS!!! but I've experienced good Carne Asada Fries and bad Carne Asada Fries. Majority of the time its good, but sometimes when they get busy they kind of lack quality. But I would definitely go to Baldos after a night out with friends and you are looking for some adventure and craving mexican food. The food is pretty okay, but you should definitely try the fries.
The environment is just a small shack with some tables and some chairs, but if you plan on going with a group of friends. Its better to go during late nights because you get better service and there would be seatings. Sadly this shack is so small, there is no restaurants. So be sure to know you are going at your own risk, its a really causal place, nothing fancy at all. -

Vacaville, CA
This place is infamous for being packed at 2 AM on a weekend with hungover kids. The food is terrible and pricey for what they actually give you. Sometimes, on rare occasion, you'll get something that will absolutely blow your taste buds away but this is rare. Why take that chance? If you live in Vacaville you already know about the two other restaurants that are open 24/7.
If you must order something here, get the bacon breakfast burrito with either jalapenos or guacamole. It's the one burrito I can guarantee that won't taste bland. -

Gross, the food tastes awesome sometimes, but i've gotten food poiseneing 2x and know about a handful of other people who did too.
It's not worth it, I dont care HOW drunk or hung over you are. Dont do it!! -

There is only one taqueria that I like and trust but this place has something that my favorite taqueria does not have - carne asada fries! I've had Baldo's shrimp tacos, I've had their cheese quesadillas, but the real reason to come here is for their carne asada fries. They are soooo good! I tried some at another place recently and it was pretty pitiful compared to Baldo's. Never again will I get this anywhere else! Split some tacos or quesadilla and an order of carne asada fries with someone else and you will be more than satisfied with your meal!

Kind of a hole in the wall and doesn't seem well maintained but that's besides the point. I come for appetizing food, nice decor is irrelevant. Anyway. I've had their carne asada fries once and it's such a huge and amazingly delicious portion of food for the price you pay

This place is kinda yucky looking from the outside, but they're food is awesome.
They always give hefty and generous portions.
Carne Asada Nachos are a must! -

I have three words for you: Carne. Asada. Fries.
Mmmm, I get hungry just typing those words out. These are some of THE BEST carne asada fries I've tried. The fact that they're open 24 hours just makes them even more appealing.
Don't come here expecting a first-class clean environment. Baldo's is holding true to my theory: the dirtier a Mexican place is, the tastier it is. -

I used to Looooove Baldos! Disgusting atmosphere weird staff graffiti on the walls and all. But I just recently came out to visit my Family for my Sons Bday and haaaad to stop at Baldos before my trip back to home. I got the rolled tacos which is what I have always been getting throughout the 7 years I have been going here. And I got my Mom a chicken taco. I ate up my rolled tacos and my Mom ate her taco although she was pulling out pieces of gristle, fat and bone and got pretty disgusted. At around 1:30am I ran to the bathroom and threw up! My stomache was in knots! It still is and I ate at like 10:30pm last night! Its a shame I dont know if they have new people working there or they just dont care anymore or whats going on but freaking gross!!! I am pretty sure I have food poisoning!! Will not be going back the next time I come out here to visit.

Just not a fan of the price and the setting's pretty bad. However, I would definitely go back again. -

I remember coming here with APO and of course the place was PACKED since there are so many of us. My Big got me an order of the carne asada fries and I was pretty excited, because I love french fries... and these fries are piled on with all kinds of goodness! I was a tad bit disappointed because my carne asada fries seemed SUPER SALTY. Like I literally felt like someone accidentally knocked over salt into my order and hoped that I wouldn't notice :[ But, they were still pretty good, I just got really thirsty. Thankfully one of my pbros got a HUGE horchata and was kind enough to share with me! I've had a bad experience with horchata in the past, but this one was really tasty! Mmmmm, I'm craving just the horachata now! :)

This is definitely the place I come to when I'm upset and want to eat my feelings.
Baldo's is not the best Mexican place I've been, but it definitely satisfies a craving. The carne asada fries are the best way to get a huge caloric intake and a heart attack on the drive back, but there's something about them that just makes the world seem a little brighter. Greasy, enormous, loaded with oily goodness, the carne asada fries are in a world of their own.
The service is ultra quick, but sometimes the staff is creepy. Once a cook stared at my friend and I the entire time and went outside to blow us kisses as we drove away.
Definitely sketchy and probably at least 1000 calories in a serving, but Baldo's is the place to go to drown your feelings in calories. -

Four stars for the amount of food given, lack of a star for the griminess of the place. So this is a delectable well known treasure amongst UC Davis students that often drive 30+ minutes round trip for some drunk munchies. To the food at hand, the carne asada fries are the best in the area. Seriously, for $8 you get a large white togo box of greasy french fries, large dose of sour cream, cheese, steak and at times they put chopped tomatoes in it.
Also, remember to ask for EXTRA EXTRA red and green sauce. My favorite is the red sauce and it seriously helps you stuff your face of all that greasiness with some hit of flavor besides oil. Anyway, I have been recommended to try the carne asada super burrito because it is super cheap (around $4) and really filling. Nonetheless, do not pass Vacaville without trying this massive calorie filled snack!
Quick tip: if you have to go to the bathroom as you're waiting for your order.. don't! The bathroom is all the way in the back and seems super shady. Also, beware of eating at the actual table because it looks super filthy. It's so much better to take it togo and eat it on the road!! -

This is the best cheap, ghetto, I need to eat something to soak up all the alcohol I drank, I'm craving Mexican food kind of place! The food is homey and yummy. This place is straight forward and not fancy! You want a killer burrito and not be ashamed of walking in in pajama pants? You have found heaven!

The food is ok. Nothing spectacular.
But it gets 3 stars for being open 24 hours and being the perfect food for drunchies. Nothing like carne asada fries to settle a drunk night.
But even when I'm drunk, I dislike the sogginess of the fries or the toughness of the carne asada, but you make do with what you get. -

Great food I eat everyday I'm just tired of the different prices. I order the same exact thing sometimes 7 dollars sometimes it's 9 depending on who is working. the food is bomb but these mexicans are scandalous if there skimping 1 or 2 dollars fromme everyday how much stolen money is in their pockets every week??? I'm so addicted to this place that I let them Jack my money everyday and have never said nothing hahaha

Sacramento, CA
I've stopped in at Baldo's a few times now, always on the way back to Sacramento from the bay area, and always sometime between midnight and 3am because I've usually just got through seeing some bands in San Francisco or Oakland, the show ends late, and I've already had some drinks, so I might as well throw in some great-bad food for good measure, right!?
Let's get this right out of the way - Baldo's ain't fine dining, and you ought to know that going in to it. This stuff ain't gourmet. But having said that, and acknowleding that you're getting quickly made, extremely cheap food (two huge burrito's for under 10 bucks - one for tonight and one for lunch tomorrow), Baldo's is pretty tasty. I've also given it the sober test - I grabbed some Baldo's while I was sober, and it was just as tasty as it was the time I had a mean buzz (or drunk) on.
Aside from the taste, the main selling point here is that Baldo's is open 24 hours. whether I'm passing through at 10pm, or 3am, nearly any day of the week (as far as I can remember), Baldo's can hook me up!
A great late-night stop when passing through town! -

The FIRST place to ever have Carne Asada Fries!!!
The best place for them too...
Their food is great but it's all about the Carne Asada Fries... Don't be fooled by imitators!!!
If they were located closer to my house, I would go there often... -

The carne asada fries are soo bomb (for norcal atleast) but sometimes the fries are under cooked.
Open 24 hours!! and the food comes out very quick :]. eat there or take it togo!
If you dont like fries the carne asada super burrito is great as well! Only $6 for a ginormous burrito! -
Review from Dan R.
Vacaville, CA
When it comes down to it, Baldo's is good stop for some greasy, calorie clogged burritos and thats it. Just one of the breakfast burritos is enough for breakfast AND lunch, split it up or eat it all at once, you will not be hungry until dinnertime. Depending on the cook and what time you get there the burritos can be hit or miss. Ingredients seem to vary from time to time. Sometimes the burritos have a "pan" taste to them from the grease and grill.
I have eaten there many times, being a Vacaville native. I rarely go inside. I use the the drive through instead because the eating area is atrocious. Personally, I never get anything besides the breakfast burritos. Look at the pictures of their menu items. Appetizing? No. Most look like literal crap on a plate. I get that the food is fast and cheap, but they should at least present it as something I would eat. Overall, satisfactorily filling and cheap breakfast burritos, try everything else at your own risk, including entering the establishment to eat. -

Came here for the infamous carne asada fries. Apparently the only place around the area that serves it. If anyone know if there are any other joint, hit me up!
The carne asada fries is not the best, but it definitely satisfies a craving. Good amount of cheese, guac, and sour cream. Fries were not soggy if you eat it fresh. Lacks a little flavor and I would like my steak a little bit charred. I think the pictures up are accurate depictions of the steak. Just brown. Not charred. A little chewy. But it's do-able.
Second of all, I would definitely get it for take-out. This is definitely a hole in the wall joint. And one of the WORSE looking restaurants I've been to. Maybe that's why they have a drive thru? lol, what mexican restaurant have a drive through!? It was dirty, food scraps everywhere. It was all tagged up in side and out. Mismatched/missing fixtures, tables and chairs. Not to mention that not too long a go a car rammed into the restaurant and caught on fire? Yea didn't feel very safe eating there. But if you don't eat in, it should be fine. -

This place is food poisoning to go. It is dirty. the food is mediocre at best. I can't believe how many people like this place. Go across the street to Burrito Express for some authentic and delicious Mexican food.

24 hour hole in the wall you can walk in all night not just drive through..
This place is the last stop before all the drunks go home and pass out.......Its known for being a late night drunkin muchie stop off before pass out..... The food is ok .....and its better if your hammered but its greasy as hell and i doubt its very sanitary ive been there a 100 times and never seen anyone wash there hands....
Ive never eatin there in the daytime becasue its the kinda place you only go to becasue everything else is closed....
Heres a tip ive noticed when i use to go there late at night........If you go inside and tip them a dollar when you order your food comes out lookin fatter and more how you want it..... everyime i went in drive though my burrito was all small and i asked for somthing added in it and they would routnly not put it in but charge me for it...... so i stopped going in the drive through and my orders started being just how i wanted them..... plus its easyer to spot them messin with your food from inside.......and dont tell me it dosnt happen ive waited tables for 10 years worked at denny's graveyard shift i know what goes on at a resturant espically one like that....... -

This place opens lateeeee! And I came here with a bunch of people after an event nearby. This place looks old and shabby, but very authentic. I bet everyone comes here for the Carne asada fries!! I never heard of this until here!
Damn it was soooo good ! It's something out of the ordinary. It was extraordinary !! Will come back on a chili night and eat this again and again ! My friend got the California burrito which was the same thingy but it was wrapped up in a burrito. But I preferred the fries much more ! -

It's kind of a whole in the wall, but I made the 20 mile drive just to get it sometimes.

Their carne asada fries is very yummy once you crave for it! My friends and I have come here a couple of times at night after getting the munchies after a night of drinking. We have came here a couple of times when we were just craving for some carne asada fries for dinner. I have to say that it taste VERY different from eating it sober for dinner and after a night from drinking.
The food is really greasy, so if you don't mind the grease to satisfy your craving, then this is the place for you! I've only tried the carne asada fries and the carne asada nacho. The fries are better than the nachos. The portion is HUGE! so bring a friend to share with you. I got one for myself once and I couldn't finish it at all! I decided to take it home and eat it for a late night snack. OMG! don't ever do it! its disgusting! i opened the box and it was ughhh NOT APPETIZING AT ALL!! I always ate the fries first because I like it when its still hot and crunchy. The carne asada fries is around $7.50 ish so you split it with a friend $3.75 - $4 each. Not bad to satisfy your cravings. They charge .25 cents for a cup of water. I prefer bringing my own water bottle..
You are more likely to see college students here eating at night around 2am. They really need to fix up their location of the bathroom. I thought if they were rebuilding the restaurant after someone crashed into it, they would might as well put a bathroom that's IN the restaurant and not some place that will draw some non-wanting attention. -

This place is a hot spot for late night drunk munchies for adventurous UC Davis students and people coming back to the Sacramento area from partying in the bay.
The food here is definitely not for anyone calorie counting, it's heavy and usually pretty greasy. That's all great when you're drunk and fiending for something fried but I've come here during the day a couple times and haven't been really impressed. The carne asada fries are the only thing here I've actually enjoyed eating, the rest of their standard Mexican food is pretty average. If you do get the carne asada fries it's usually enough for two people so bring a friend. If you take the fries home they'll get soggy and almost inedible. The parking lot and bathroom could use some work, and like any place that is open during late hours can draw some very "interesting" drunk clientele. -

Vacaville, CA
Yes the place looks like crap, but who cares. I'm not trying to live there. Get the carne asada fries and enjoy the enormous amount of food for the relatively little price. The shrimp tacos are also awesome. They will fry your shrimp in the taco if you ask for crispy tacos. I always get the shrimp tacos with cheese, lettuce and sour cream only.

Baldo's carne asada fries are like a warm, sunny day after a heavy snowfall. Everything starts out perfectly, and you are having the best time, when suddenly, that same everything is slush that you are wallowing through regretfully.
The fries are indeed tasty, but I would recommend sharing it with a few people, so that this slush effect is not as pronounced. Baldo's is good for the late night run from Davis, but it is too far away to be consistently counted on. -

Imagine that you are on the verge of completing the world's worst drive (5 from socal to norcal)... and you are only minutes away from hugging your family and settling down into the home you grew up in, a comfortable couch, cable tv and a fridge full of free food. =) You are tired. You are hungry. You are starting to see double and the idiot that won't let you pass has already received more than his/her fair share of choice vocabulary from you....
and then you remember, baldos! Never mind that it is in the OPPOSITE direction of your beloved family and childhood home. Nevermind the idiot driver(s), or the hours of driving or the $25 fee you were charged at the bridge bc you forgot to bring cash (doh!)
this is baldo's. nachos, breakfast burritos.... oh yum. love the super-huge tortillas and the watery, salty, little spice- hotsauce it comes with...and suddenly, just like that,
you are home. welcome back says baldos.
its good to go home.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The only place for mexican food open when everything else is closed.
Carne asada fries at 1 in the morning are too good. When we walk in, the guy at the register goes "Carne asada fries?" LOL
The Chicken Chimichanga is also a favorite. Nothing like a deep fried burrito smothered in red sauce, sour cream, and guac. -
Review from Brian Y.
Baldo's has satiated many of my drunk munchies when I was going to UC Davis. Carne asada fries or burrito is the way to go.
They have a drive through which is awesome! I'd consider this place a hole in the wall, but I have never eaten here sober so I am not sure what the food normally tastes like. -
Review from Kris I.
I hadn't eaten for hours and I definitely didn't want anything healthy, so I called a friend up and discovered she was at Baldos, so I ran to my car and rushed to Vacaville for this epic moment.
I had heard of this place before because of its epicness, and I think it definitely lived up. Also, I heard it was closed down because of some accident but now it's open up again? YAY.
So I ordered the carne asada fries (of course), a carna asada taco and a horchata. Hey, I'm a girl who can eat, okay? Anyhoo, when I got my order, the carne asada fries were like 2x as big as I had imagined, and the taco was ginormous too (for a taco, mind you). It was either because I was starving or excited to be there (or both), but I DOWNED those fries. The taco was for leftovers the next day. SOOO GOOD. The fries are small, so it's easier to inhale like I did. Topped with avocado, sour cream, melted cheesy goodness, and carne asada bits = z0mgggg.
The place is definitely a bit run down, there are flies, the whole place smells like a bathroom (and what I've read from other yelpers, you shouldn't use the bathroom) but hey - hole in the wall places have the best food!
Just come here for the food, yo. Sooo worth gaining the extra pounds. My body will hate me as I attempt to work them off. -
Review from Trina A.

When we went camping a few weekends ago there was of our friends who just kept talking about this place. Baldo's this, Baldo's that. It was a bit irritating, but if she hadn't engraved this place in my mind, I wouldn't have noticed it when we got lost in Vacaville. We were looking for the freeway, and then I saw it and reminded the BF of it. We decided to eat in since we'd been driving a while. That may have been our only mistake. Inside, this place was a grungy mess; sticky tables, dim lighting, and flies everywhere. Yuck.
But man my shrimp asada fries were hella good! The shrimp was pan fried and seasoned and they didn't skimp on it either. It was a little tough eating with flies buzzin' around...I think if we had eaten in the car, it would've been much easier to enjoy. Horchata was good too, and Matt Jon A. must have enjoyed his Carne Asada Fries because he scarfed em down! But Yum. Try it out, its delish! -

There was a fire at this location in January and everyone at the office was in mourning for weeks. No one was hurt, it just meant that we couldn't enjoy the number 29 sausage breakfast burrito w/o cheese on our friday breakfast runs. Thank goodness they are open again.
Their cheese is pretty nasty but if you can handle it, more power to you. For your early or late night cravings stop on by because they're open 24/7. -

Being from SD near Mexico it was always hard for me to find a good burrito place in norcal, but Baldo's has got to be the closest to "home". Yes, its greasy. Yes, its artery clogging. But, what do you expect when you order burritos or carne asada fries. Which, are pretty damn good btw. My favorite is the california burrito which is pretty much a carne asada burrito but with FRIES. Delish, specially with their hot sauce. However, their really inconsistent with how many onions they put in, so just ask them to go light on the onions. Not to mention this place is open 24hrs drive thru and sit in which is awesome. Prices are pretty decent too(: I go here often, not bad in my book.

After a long day of retail therapy at the Vacaville Outlets, my girlfriend suggested we stop at Baldo's on the way home. When we drove up it looked like a run down hole in the wall with a drive thru. The menu was pretty basic. I ordered two tacos (1 carnitas and 1 carne asada). OMG - these tacos were the TRUTH!! They were so massive I couldn't even finish both of them...and I tried! The meat was seasoned perfectly and they were topped with fresh salsa and guacamole. Baldo's is in a totally random spot, but if passing thru the Vacaville area I highly suggest you stop by!

Solano County, CA
Soooo, this place had been temporarily closed because some asshole drove there car into the gas line and it blew up... seriously! And i guess yelp took down the old reviews so let me fill you in... this place was very much highly rated (i think 4 stars) by A LOT of people... like even people fr the bay that were on the way to/from tahoe or the outlets...
N E Ways, enough history for you... went for the first time since the fire and went thru the drive thru as i usually do... (the inside was never really nice and there was always graffiti on the wall even after it had been painted. This time the walls i could see are red but i don't know anything other than that about the inside.
One would have hope they would have fixed their bumpy parking lot but that is not the case. Drive slow! They have a new sign though. That's good. I ordered the chicken salad ($5.00) as I would normally do... it comes with marinated chicken, lettuce, tomato, avocado, sour cream (on the corner), chips with melted cheese. I also got horchata.
Well, i was so excited... it smelled so good i was salivating on the way home... but here comes the sad part... it was not as good as before... the chips were all dry! i mean they did not have the oil on it indicating they were freshly cooked like authentic mexican restaurants normally have! They used to be fresh! AAAAAGGGGHHH and i didn't have much avocado... and the chicken was just ok...
Mind you I was HUNGRY too... i had only had one meal the whole day prior to Baldo's so you'd think anything would satisfy me but no! Granted i was very full afterwards and there was still some left (which is normal).
I hope the fire didn't mess EVERYTHING up! Baldo's was the best place esp for late night cravings - they are open 24 hours a day.
I'll be back and I'll update you guys! Come back to me, good ol' Baldo's! NOOOOOOOOO! lol.
I have included photos for your viewing pleasure. I still recommend this spot based on the numerous experiences of deliciousness in the past.
