This place is located conveniently on Buford Hwy in Doraville, GA. The place is sometimes hard to miss because of the large sign, but at the same time, a lot of people miss it because the colors are not that noticeable. The restaurant can hold a lot of people, and it's a self serve place. You go in, and you order. Then, you get your food, and sit where ever you like. Every day, there are specials for different types of sandwiches. My favorite is Saturday because steak sandwiches are a lot cheaper. The staff is pleasant, and the food is clean and fresh.

Think of this place as firehouse sub and subway, but better. Baldino's subs are bigger and the ingredients are much better. Additionally, the restaurant makes home made soups such as chicken noodle, broccoli and cheese, clam chowder, and etc. Also, the place makes very good pasta and other side items that you won't see in your typical sandwich or sub places.

My favorite sandwich here is the steak, mushroom, and cheese sandwich. I order one of these and I am more full than I get in Subway or Firehouse. Also, they have really great sides. The meat is cooked very well and full with flavor. The vegetables that you request are better than the other sub places. Also, you can order fresh dill pickles along with other sides such as chips or pasta salad.

There are other great sandwiches that the place offers, and the food items are at reasonable prices. Everything is under 6 dollars when it comes to sandwiches, and soups are about 2 dollars. Also, other side items are pretty cheap too along with spaghetti with meatballs. Their meat balls are awesome.

Overall, I recommend this place to anyone if they are looking for some subs or great quality sandwiches for very good price. Also, this is not a really a date place, but more on the let's hang out with friends place. The lunch hours are busy because this place is a popular place.

So far this is the best sub place I've had in Georgia. I'm from NJ, so naturally the name drew me in!

I had the Baldino's Cheesesteak sub. It was very good - and huge! Convenient location, though I wish they were open later (they close at 9pm most days).

Thanks to Jamg C. and Daniel B. , I have a new found love for Baldino's.  And even better- I have found one a wee bit closer to my house...

This location is standalone alongside Buford Highway (almost across the street from the farmer's market).

It can get busy as hell, but by the time I get there (usually late afternoon) the dust seems to settle and things go pretty quickly...

I like this location because: They have cannolis, a working pinball machine (25 cent play!), and table that has direct access to the napkins and sauces (which if it is taken when I arrive, I will bully you out of your seat)!

On the most recent visit, my friends and I decided to get a 6 footer for the super bowl (all we did was call the night before, we picked it up next day no prob)... It was spectacular!  Do note that with the purchase of a party sub they add a $10 deposit (refundable upon return) for the board that is sits on.  We also got all of the "wet" ingredients on the side so it wouldnt make the sub soggy...  It was a great value and kept everybody full.

Hell, just writing about this place is making me hungry, Baldino's- I will see you at noon ;)

Damn Damn Damn.  Thats all I can say.   I'm too full to do otherwise.  Giant big ass yummy sandwiches....daily specials including weekends....3.50.  I just wolfed down the #21 and it wasn't as good as the #13 I had last time,  but it was 3.50...and huge.... and yummy.  and now no work can be done for the rest of the afternoon.  Please move closer to my job or to my home Baldinos.  Please. PS,  I think i love you.

Best Jersey style subs in Atlanta.  Really is a slice of the north down here.  You get big subs and you get a deli feel when you bite into a sub.  I liked it and I do not say that much about sandwich places.

I need to start by saying: I HAD NO IDEA!!!

I have been meaning to try Baldinos for years.  I can really beat the crap out of myself for taking so long!  Awesome, awesome sub shop!  Hey, did I say awesome???

I ordered a footlong Italian special with added mayo, sweet peppers and hot peppers.  And again I had no idea that a footlong would be two feet long.  Way too much for me.  I guess I was thinking in terms of Subway.  Yeah, well this is totally different.  I did not order any sides because it was my first time and I always stick to the basics for my first visit.

The bread was fresh and perfectly baked, the meat was freshly cut in front of me and the peppers made for the best sandwich ever.  They also slice their own cheese!  Not to mention they have good daily specials (see my photo).

The customer service was great.  I was welcomed upon entering and my order was quickly taken and prepared.  Not much to it but friendly, quick and simple are always perfect in my book.

I will be a repeat customer until I have tried just about every sub.  Next time I know not to order a footlong unless two others are eating with me!

I have eaten at Baldino's probably 100 times over the last 6 years.  The sandwiches are spot on with the ones I used to get at my local deli in upstate NY.  The prices are great; everything I have ever had on the menu tastes consistently good.  I usually get a veggie sub, a hot Italian, or some pepperoni rolls and spaghetti.  The tortilla soup is also amazing.

They make their bread fresh everyday and have a bargain bin for day old bread that I usually clean out and bring home.

They have daily lunch specials that are around $4.00 for a sub, chips, and a drink; plenty to fill you up!

If you go there for lunch, expect a wait.  Although it is a sign of a good business, the line can go out the door around noon on any weekday.

My only complaint is that I once found a small piece of metal shaving (maybe from a tomato sauce can?) in the spaghetti.  It was luckily found prior to ingesting it and causing any problems.

4 stars for the authenticity, service and food quality.

I ordered the Italian Battalion.  The bread was fresh w just a little crustiness the meat was ample and had good individa flavor the melded well together.  I was most impressed with the finely shredded luttuce and the flavor of the tomato.  The lettuce is very key because too thin and its just soggy, not thin enough and most of it falls out of the sandwich.  The tomato tasted vine ripened and I didn't get a tough core near the top where the stem was. They were sliced thick enough to offer just the right amount of juice.

I enjoyed it so well I got back in line and ordered a cheesesteak.  The bread to mea ratio missed for me but the name is SUBs not cheesesteak.  Stick with the subs and you should be fine.

I've passed by for years never aware how close I was to something so good.

From the outside, Baldino's looks like just another wannabe franchise that never quite caught on.  On the inside, it is something else entirely.  I usually go on Saturday for lunch, as it is closer to home than to work.  The place is packed with families and locals - kids in soccer uniforms, moms on the way to Perimeter Mall, old couples, and anyone else passing through Buford Highway that is not seeking out something exotic for lunch.  As it turns out, that market is apparently underserved and Baldino's exploits that niche well.

Once you walk in, the franchise feeling disappears instantly.  The feel of the place is much more like a multi-generational family business, similar to just about everything in the neighborhood in Cincinnati where my wife grew up.  The decor is clean and in a good state of repair, but oh-so-dated, with the old panelling, flooring and slightly awkward counter height.  There are pictures and memorabilia collected from years of community presence.  Many customers have the look of "regulars" - they know what they want, they have a routine while they wait, and they have a favorite booth.  The folks behind the counter are older than you see at many fast food places - they are there to work hard and serve you, not to make a few bucks for their next twelve-pack.  The system is more paper and less computer - you order and pay, and you wait for your number.  The waiting area reminded me of Pizza Hut to-go as a child.

The food - lots of specials to look out for.  The subs are good - nothing fancy, but fresh and tasty.  The bread is a wide and flat sandwich roll, similar in shape to Blimpie's.  No artisan granola nut honey oats bread - just white and wheat.  Only three tips:  1) their choice of vinegar is quite fragrant and might not be for everyone. 2) the Philly is not the "end all" - it's perfectly fine, but not a "Eureka" moment for me.  3) The half sandwich is pretty packed with ingredients, and big enough even for my teenage boys.

Final note - I got to know this place when they were holding a Christmas Eve Open House and giving away food as fast as they could hand it out.  It was a really cool chance to meet some of the people, and get a real idea for what the place and the food are all about.

Good food, some sweet deals, and down home atmosphere (Jersey style) are waiting for you at Baldino's.

Delicious bread, excellent meats + Inexpensive. This is the best sub in atlanta for the price. And I hesitate saying 'for the price', because it is just a great sub. I used to get Quiznos for lunch every once in a while, but I stopped as soon as I started coming here. The Italian subs are terrific, the chicken breats is great, and the philly steaks are excellent.  The $3.49 daily special is usually the way I go to help with my decision making.

I'm kicking myself for not trying this place earlier. My office is only 5 mins away from here....but I never really look at other sandwich options because there's a Subway's across the street. I was driving past this place when I remembered a buddy said good things about Baldino's.

The other reviewers were right. The bread is pretty good and the portions are sized right. In the last week, I've been back at least 3 or 4 times and tried a different sandwich every time. My favorite is the Italian Battalion.

It's a man party up in here! Where are all those men coming from...

    Anyway, back to the food.

Good bread. Large servings. Everything is fresh, nothing soggy or on the verge of molding.

I usually order a side of spaghetti. The spaghetti in itself isn't the best I've ever had in my entire life, but accompanies the sub well.

Friendly staff. Don't be afraid of the long line, it moves fast. The end.

Baldino's has been a staple in my home for many years way before even yelp was born!  My family frequented this place since I was a kid and I never really appreciated the greatness until I got old enough to write about it. :)

There is something amazing about a well built sandwich.  The bread, meat and veggies ratio is super important as well as the quality of all of the above.

I love the fact that everything is cut when you order not pre-sliced like some other sandwich shops.  The bread is delicious!!   It can definitely make or break a sandwich.

My go to sandwiches are the American Army and the Italian Battalion.  More than likely this is a place where you can't go wrong with anything you order but I particularly like the two mentioned.  I drool just thinking about it...

It's not the fanciest place to eat at but there is plenty of seating... watch out during lunch time though because this place is guaranteed to be packed!  I would recommend getting there a little before or a little after the typical time for lunch just to beat the crowd a bit.

I come here often for lunch during the weekday b/c you cannot beat the $3.49 special. I love months when the meatball sub is one of the specials, but all the subs here are great. The cookies are also yummy for a splurge and I like to get pasta salad as a side. Delish. The cucumber/onion salad is also good.

This place has some of the best subs I've ever had.  It's disconcerting that there are so many limited options along this area of Buford Highway (aside from Mexican food), but I'm very content getting lunch here several times a week.  The Italian and meatball subs are probably my favorite.  They don't skimp on the meat and cheese, which I appreciate.  The place is always packed when I go in for lunch, which serves as a testament to how good the food is.

Have driven by dozens of times and finally stopped in.  By George, they make a great sub here.  I got the 13 inch roast beef.  It looked just like the picture on the website, which means that it has a consistent 1/2 to 3/4 inch layer of roast beef, probably thrice what goes into a Subway sub.

They don't have have the fancy chipotle/ranch type sauces that Subway has, but I'll take that tradeoff for more meat.

I will definitely get back over here.  I'm curious to try some of the hot subs.

A little slice of Americana in a highly international stretch of Buford Hwy.
Been goin to this location for 20+ years. The inside was remodeled last year but I did not mind the old interior - it was always clean & had an eclectic mix of old record albums, local newspaper clippings, Olympic memorabilia, and a Citizen Soldier recognition. I'm glad they kept the pinball machine in the back.  I miss some of the stuff that used to be on the walls but they saved enough to keep the old feeling of a family owned business.  Thank goodness they did not change the food! Hubby & I try to have lunch at least 1 weekend day a month & he swears by the #19 Best Cut Steak & cheese with extra meat & cheese. I don't know how he can eat it all. I am partial to the Italian Battalion or the meatball sub (add provolone).   My office is close enough that I fetch sandwiches for at least half a dozen people when they find out I am going, which is also about once a month. The # 6 roast beef is the most requested by my office-mates. The call-ahead service is very convenient but definitely don't let the long line scare you off - they are fast and friendly.  Many of the crew have worked there for years.  I am always amazed that the lunchtime clientele is about 95% men, even on the weekends. This place is an excellent value & if you need a party-size sub, nobody can beat Baldinos. Hooray Hooray Hooray for Baldinos!

Made it back here after far too long. The Italian Battalion was everything I hoped for and more. I got it with all the standard toppings plus some hot peppers. Close to an inch of meat and cheese with the perfect topping construction and ideal bread for the job.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well constructed the sandwiches were as there was very little on the plate either from dripping or slipping or falling. The thin shred on the lettuce holds a lot of the sauce and provides good grip for the different sandwich zones. Proper sandwich craftsmanship is almost as valuable as proper ingredients and proper bread. They have everything covered.

I snagged the rest of the day old rolls and look forward to having those tomorrow.

I've kind of been into subs lately. So while reading an issue of Creative Loafing I happened upon an ad for this New Jersey style sub shop and my interest was immediately piqued.  Baldino's is located right around the corner from the Big Chicken so I decided to try it out with some friends for lunch. Next thing I knew I came back two more times in the same week!

What I like about Baldino's is that they started having recession specials before the recession even hit. Each day features a different sub for only $3.49 and one day even features a sub plus a side (chips, potato salad or macaroni salad, etc) for the price as well.

So far I've tried the "Sicilian" (Cappacola, Pepperoni and Provolone), the "Combination" (Two types of Ham) and the Cheesesteak. The Sicilian was my favorite of the bunch since I love all things spicy. It had the perfect ration of meat and toppings to bread. The Combination was OK and the Cheesesteak was tasty but didn't have enough meat on it for me.  Also I love the fact that they only use Boars Head meats which are a pretty decent quality of cold cut.

Apparently these guys bake their own bread each day and any leftover bread is available for free the next day in plastic bags you can grab on your way out. Pretty nice touch. They also have a mini bakery so you can buy the bread fresh or try some cookies, brownies or other goodies on display.

Overall this place isn't the best sub I've ever had, but I keep coming back for the great prices and "friendly" New Jersey service. I've only had takeout but they have plenty of tables and TVs around. Plus they always have fresh stacks of Creative Loafing, which I appreciate.

How any Subway survives within 10 miles of Baldino's baffles me.  Baldino's prices are somewhat better, and their bread doesn't come in seven different varieties -- just "delicious".

My vegetarian stir-fry sub was more like a vegetarian cheesesteak -- large, messy handfuls of freshly grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms covered in provolone and all stuffed into an airy loaf that miraculously manages to hold up under the onslaught of deliciousness oozing from the veggies.

It's hard to know what to try next time -- a $6 half-gallon bucket of spaghetti for takeout, or a couple of $1.50 drafts and another sandwich.  A man's got to have something to believe in -- I believe I'll have another beer.

As my coworker said on Twitter: "Baldino's++".  Now then, who volunteers to write the authoritative Twitter karmabot?

Born and raised in New Jersey, and I have to say that this is the closest thing to home. (The only other 2 that rank up are Jersey Mikes and Publix, both more expensive) They have an extensive menu, hot and cold subs, salads, even freshly baked cannolis. The potato salad is to die for! Only $3.49 for lunch is a deal that can't be beat. And did I mention, they serve beer?

OK so the inside of the place is outdated, but it's a theme. Don't pass this place up because of others' reviews. Trust me, if you want a REAL sub this is the place to go. (Subway is NOT real) The quantity and quality for the price make it a top choice on my list.

Finally visited Baldino's after driving by it for many years ... I always noticed it sitting off to edge of Buford highway but nothing about the place implored me to drive in and sample. Some other yelpz changed my mind and I was here for lunch recently with a couple of co-workers (who could not decide where they wanted to go for lunch).

As mentioned by other yelps, The interior of Baldino's is as retro-lly retro as it can be, though roomy and ample seating is available ... it's like this place was built and opened in the late 70s/early 80s and has never changed, remodeled or moved.

The is a large choice of sandwiches ... with hot sandwiches actually cooked on a grill instead of a souped-up microwave or 'toasting machine'.
The sandwiches come with one side and I tried their macaroni salad which was rather unremarkable. I chose the italian sandwich and it was pretty good but something tells me the grilled sandwiches are the best. Eager to give their spaghetti a try as well.

The BEST Sub shop in Atlanta - Bar none. This is what I think of when I think local sub joint. Its been open forever. They used to serve the local GM workers back in the day. My wife and I pick up subs here all the time when we are working in the yard or having people over. Our out of town family will even pick it up on the way to our house sometimes for everyone.
They have a small beer selection, but its good stuff. They make some GREAT Cannolis here, we always order them. Really if you are in the mood for subs and debating on this place, dont debate just go, its been voted best in Atlanta many times over.
BTW - they will even press subs for you which I had a hard time finding in Atlanta. I missed my Florida Cuban Sandwiches until I found this place.

Was pretty good, though my bread got a bit soggy from not dried lettuce. Quality of meats middle of the road. Service was very amateur and felt like no one really wants to work there. Will look for nearest Lenny's Sub or Quizzno next time. :-(

    Best Jersey Subs in Atlanta.

You can never go wrong with a Baldinos special (ham, salami, capicola & provolone on a fresh baked Jersey loaf with that wonderful shredded lettuce).  Get a pickle on the side with a 32 draft beer and your set!

For a delightful treat to eat anywhere, pick up a few pepperoni rolls.  They are wonderful freshly baked rolls with sliced pepperoni and provolone inside.

The thing I've never understood though is why they sell spaghetti by the bucket?  Spaghetti to go?  Is there a market for that?

pretty, pretty, pretty good! tasty subs, with meat and cheese sliced thin! i also tried the spaghetti and meatballs and it wasn't half bad...the 70s charm of the place made me like it even more.

My friend's brother loves this place, so we decided to give it a try. We had the steak and cheese sub and Baldinos combo sub with pasta salad. The bread was what made it for us. We both agreed that it is one of the better sub places, although we are not typically sub people.

Baldino's gets two thumbs up from this Jersey girl. These subs (or hoagies as we'd call 'em in my part of the state) are as big as promised and chock full of delicious meaty goodness.

My new favorite sandwich shop!  Luckily it's by work, so I will be visiting here frequently.  I got the Extra Special and it really was extra special and luckily the 6" was enough for me (yes, that's what she said).  I can't wait to come back and try everything else!

Subs Are massive, and i don't mean stuffed full of lettuce. I mean full of meat and cheese and the good stuff. when I worked by spaghetti junction I went here for lunch twice a week. never had a bad sandwich in those 5 years. (2x52)(5)=520 kick ass subs I've gotten from this establishment. Wish I still worked over there.

Man, I must be missing something here.  If you can get past the absolute filthiness of this establishment and order a sandwich...well I just don't get it.  Cheap meat, bad bread, seedy surroundings.

Have not had a sub as good as this outside of Jersey. UNBELIEVABLY good I would drive an hour just for one sub. The bread is what makes it here. The cheap beer does not hurt either.
