Great small place for carne Asada fries! It's a small place so having a big party here ain't gon be comfortable.. But in summer.. It's great since they have a couple of tables outside to chill.. It's actually better if you just go and pick up your food..

Anyways.. They have a big variety of menu to choose from... But my own thing is the carne Asada fries! They are really good! Try to get the carne Asada burrito as well...

Woah! Woah! This was the best. This was like "moma's best". I just got takeout as my wife and I were trying to get to SFO before the traffic kicked in. Two things:
    1. We were well down the highway before getting to the food, and nearly turned around to get more after the first bite, knowing that we'd want more.
    2. We practically growled at each other like dogs over a food-dish. We both "liked" and weren't much interested in sharing. We both grew fangs.
If you reserve "getting a little extra" for select occassions, this'd be the place.
    The price was perfecto!

This place is pretty okay; the last time I ate here, we decided to order chips and guacamole along with our fish tacos.  The fish tacos were a little bit on the bland side, but nothing terrible.  The ~$3 guacamole, on the other hand, came with nothing more than disappointment.  No cilantro, no tomato, no onion, no lime juice --  just sliced up avocado.

After being ripped-off and denied flavor, I think it will be a while before I go back.  I think Baldemiro's gets talked up a lot and all the hype makes your mouth crave delicious Mexican food.  It's not the worst option in Monterey Bay, but it definitely leaves plenty of your taste buds unsatisfied.

This is a find.  I picked Baldemiros out of the many many Mexican restaurants in Seaside because it had over 20 reviews and averaged 4.5 stars overall versus the others having only one or two reviews.

We had chicken quesadillas-- I added avocado to mine and everything was super fresh and tasty... The chicken is grilled rather than boiled (which I prefer).  Everything on the menu is inexpensive-- our meal with drinks was only $15 for our family of 3.

They didn't have any of their own homemade salsa so that was also a bummer.  (They only offered store bought hot sauces/taco sauces--- no chunky salsas at all.)

Good food, good prices, friendly people.

We lucked out and got there right before a slew of people so we didn't wait long at all but it is clear that it is a rather popular place in Seaside!

My family and I ate here last night after a long trip to the Costco auto. I was craving Mexican food and have been wanting to try this place for a while.
I ordered their combo which included 2 chicken tacos, rice and beans. The tacos were  amazing. They were the best chicken tacos I have had since moving to California 3 years ago. Their beans and rice were good as well.
My husband had the El Pastor (not sure if I spelled this right) burrito (meat and cheese only). He really enjoyed it said its better than his regular place.
The restaurant is older and has seen better days and could use a good cleaning but the food is worth the trip.
Prices are reasonable and the service is quick. They have indoor and outdoor seating available and take out of course.

With a massive craving for carne asada fries, I had to give Baldemiros a shot. After a long day at the track, my friends and I ordered a couple plates of fries and a few burritos to go around. The carne asada fries were great! The carne asada had good flavor and wasn't tough, the fries were good, being that they were properly the skinnier type, but could have been a little more crisp to hold up to the toppings. This definitely satisfied my cravings though.

The carnitas burrito wasn't bad, but kind of periled in comparison to the fries. But the California burrito seemed interesting with home fries (potatoes) rather than the fries I'm used to seeing it served with. With the same carne asada that's over the fries, this might be worth a try next time. This was definitely a better choice than going to Costco for dinner! Prices weren't quite knock your socks off cheap, but still a great value. The fries were somewhere around $7.50 and the burritos around $5-7.

You are doing yourself a disservice if you live anywhere in the area and have not visited Baldemiros. The quality of the meat and freshness of the other ingredients alone should be enough to bring you in, but honestly for me, it's the carne asada fries that make this spot so special. Get them. You will not regret it.

A point off because it seems as though their portions have shrunk slightly over the past few months. Which is lame.

Best breakfast burrito I've ever had and I'm a whore for breakfast burritos. Go for the Combo with all the meat. It's a steal for the size and price. Plus it's not over-filled with cheap potatoes like other places. No filler here. If you ask, "Where's the beef?" as a joke with me, I'll open up your piping hot burrito and shove your face into the steaming pile of protein. "There's the beef!" I'll shout emphatically, as you writhe in scalded pain on the floor.
Doesn't that all sound yummy? All except the "steaming pile" part, that is?

Wow, I got a super asada burrito and it was pretty bad. I went to this place because it looked tasty and authentic. Unfortunately, the meat was gross and could have been pigeon for all I know. The chips were also very lack luster but then again so are Papa Chanos.

Do your self a favor before you go to this place and check out what the dog food isle at the super market has first.

Prolly heaven for the carne and fried food lovers of the world. I like more fresh with my Mex. I tried half of a prawn taco. Kinda like a greasy fajita with shrimp. Not gross but nothing I'd want to get full off of. I asked for grilled fish tacos but "no-can-do". Kinda makes ya wonder...
I may go back for veggie tacos. The portions were huge and they were practically free. It's a block from TacoBell (and probably less expensive) so, you know, maybe give them a try as an alternative next time you're heading for the border.

Growing up in East Los Angeles, there were many places to get a great burrito.  I lived in Boyle Heights, not too far from Evergreen Park, where I played little league baseball.  The area's always been pretty rough.  Looking back, it was a great place to grow up - I learned a lot of things you don't get out of a book.  Near the Park is my favorite East LA restaurant, El Tepeyec, where you could order the Manuel Burrito, or my favorite, the Hollenbeck Burrito, named after the local police station for protection.

I've been on a search for the great burrito here on the Monterey Peninsula.

         Chipotle
         Papa Chanos
         Hola Mexican Restaurant and Cantina
         Turtle Bay
         Peppers
         Zocalos
         And so on

It's been disappointing.  There have been good burritos here and there, but not the ones that make you yearn for more, not the ones that make you feel like you're back in the barrio eating the real thing.

    Baldemiro's is close.

I order the Supreme with carne asada instead of shredded beef.  It's a wet burrito loaded with beans, cheese, enchilada sauce ladled on top, and topped with sour cream.  The Adobada with bbq pork and the Chicken Burritos are also good.  The Supreme is $5.75.  The regular burritos are $4.50.  You can supersize them for an extra buck.

The presentation is simple where the burritos come with some shredded lettuce and pico de gallo on the side.

They serve other Mexican dishes such as Tacos (including Guacamole Tacos), Tortas, Fajitas, Taquitos, Tamales, and so on...

The restaurant's not much to look at, it's real low-key, kind of scrungy, and there's only about 6 tables to sit at.  I usually take my food to go and eat at one of the local parks or beaches in the area...

    Honestly...

I haven't been here since high school.  York '98 so that's ver 12 years ago... When my sister came into town and I rarely see her... I wanted to take her to Noodle Bar (for Pho Tai w/ are beef on the side and Spicy Chicken Wings).  Noodle Bar was PACKED.  I mean almost a line out the door and a line behind every seat in the house.  Miki (my sister) had to get back to UCSB tonight so we decided to opt out.  Bummed since it is now 6pm and I haven't had breaky or lunch; we had to go somewhere quick!

I thought, Baldemiros... I remember "papas" in my burrito; giving it a hint of comfort.  My sister fresh from San Sebastian and 5 months in Brazil and me fresh from Zacatecas, Mexico (when I was 16... I'm 29 now you do the math) which feels like yesterday and when I have to , I can speak semi fluent Spanish... thought, quick, clean and delicious....

Baldemiros.... Carnitas Burrito with Beans and Rice... Crema... Guac and no salsa (but they still slid in pico de gallo).  I just don't like Cilantro in my food (no me gusta)!!!  Their salsa is killer just don't wan't cilantro but of course it is in there...

Fine... I'm still happy we split it in half and shared a small Horchata which reminded me of my days in Zacatecas and my horny fun tasty days in high school.  Ohhhhh so deliciouso guey!

I don't know what the other reviewers are smoking on Yelp to so highly recommend this place. I am a Mexican food Connoisseur and this has got to be one of the most godawful Mexican taco shops I've ever had the "pleasure" of eating in. Maybe it's because I live in San Diego now, where there are 500,000 little taco shops dotting the county. Monterey seems to be devoid of the little places, except for a couple of places in Seaside. I tried this place on recommendation of my fellow Yelpers and I was disappointed beyond belief.

This used to be Baha Burgers in the 1970s (and maybe the early 80s) and while as a kid I had always wanted to try the place (they had a ton of commercials on 1240/KMBY back in the day) I never got to try the place. I guess my parents didn't feel like getting my sister and I quality burgers and instead we were subjected to mostly McDonald's (maybe one reason why I like Micky Dee's so much to this day). Now it's Baldemiros. The place was not too bad. About as clean and functional as your basic taco hut, maybe a little bigger even. The wait for the order was fine, about 5 minutes.

About halfway through the burrito, I began to feel a sick and dizzy feeling. Maybe it was the lard-filled beans, maybe it was just that bad. The chicken rolled tacos were not too horrible, but the guacamole was runny and gross and the taste was bland at best. (A true mark of a good taco is how it tastes BEFORE it needs the hot sauce - once the sauce is on there, the entire meal tastes pretty much the same). I actually did not finish the burrito (what? Jeff didn't finish his burrito? Huh?) and ate two of the three rolled tacos. I wasn't sure if I should take the uneaten portion home or dump it - within 25 seconds I decided that if it wasn't worth eating now, why torture myself later? I felt pretty sick and lethargic the rest of the day, and 4 1/2 hours after eating that slop, I'm still not feeling too good.

Feh! My search for a good Monterey-based taco shop continues . . .

My cousin Bryan makes it a habit to talk about Baldemiro's Carne Asada Fries each time I visit home (good ol' Salas).

After one particular eventful family party, all of the cousins decide to jump in to five cars (yeah, we roll deep) and head in to Seaside for some post-drinking grub.

    Oh.My.God.

The carne asada was perfect, the fries crispy and the guacamole and salsa fresh.

could not ask for anything more.

I guess I should listen to cousin Bryan more often.

ps: I suggest sharing an order of Carne Asada fries, the portions are huge!

Take one tired, motley crew of children, fresh from a day of Aquarium viewing, park-playing, and Seaport-strolling.  Dinner out was just not going to happen.

So, I went looking for takeout.  The front desk clerk recommended El Torito.  I recalled that as a chain restaurant in NY from 20 years back.  There had to be better.

Yelp led me to Baldo's.  They were still open (most of the other places around were closed at 9pm) and they take credit cards.

The good:  chicken quesadilla was excellent and huge.  The chicken was that moist, stewed kind, not the overgrilled dry type.  Total for our order was under $30 and we couldn't finish it all.

The bad:  carne asada was grizzly and pretty flavorless.  On the carne asada fries, it didn't work at all, mainly because it was in large chunks.  The horchata was pretty watered down, and no, it wasn't the ice because I didn't get any.

I went for the highly touted carne asada super burrito.  It was OK, but I've had far better in the Mission in SF.  Again, the quality of the meat was the problem here.

Affectionately known as Baldo's to some of it's regular clientelle, this taco shop is just fucking good.
Homemade tortillas and delicious flavor explosions in every bite of the Super Carne Asada Burrito - and it's the size of a kitten.

Look at a pretty mature kitten and that's about the same size of these burritos.

Parking is easy - great location right off the freeway near Sand City and very affordable at typical taco shop prices, complete will toppings bar of salsas and pickled chilis/carrots.

Tacitos and horchata.  Absolutely fabulous.  I REALLY REALLY wish there was a place this great in DC where I'm living now...

Would go here all the time during the 3 years I lived in Monterey... don't take it for granted... go as often as you get the craving....

The place has outdoor seating for, like, 3 people.  Total.  Don't think that really counts, but, do what we did... get your stuff to-go, and head to the beach to eat.  That's the way it's intended when you're a Californian...  : )

This is, IMO, one of the only SoCal taquieras here in the monterey area that I have found that is really good.  I have been eating here during lunch about 2 or 3 times a week.  Excellent food, portions, and price.

Food made fresh as you order.  Its only got about 6 or 9 tables inside so at times its a bit cramped and its not much to look at form the outside, but you really cant beat the food, at least here in the Monterey area.

Also, the Horchata here is very good, a must try if you have never had.

    disfruten!

Even after graduating high school I had to get my fix.  Baldi's is great for tacos, chimis, and burritos! My ultimate favorite menu item... Breakfast Burrito! They're huge. Potato, egg, bacon, cheese. The BEST.

I was in the mood for Mexican food yesterday but not the fast "Taco Bell" type food and I thought of this place.  I had not been here in months and I was not disappointed. It was great, the taquitos and a taco were really good and so much better than the mystery stuff they are using for meat and beans at the other fast food places.     My lunch was really good and so much better than down the street for tacos. However, after  reading some of the other reviews   I also have to add that the menu appears to have a large selection of "authentic" food choices that would not be of my choosing so look and consider carefully because some of the items do not appear to be for everyone.

When going here i recommend not making it a super and go for regular, usually i switch off and on, but i found with less of the  added stuff and more of the essentials meat, bean, cheese. and possibly a bit more i leaving out it taste a lot better.

I eat a lot of Mexican food. A lot... With that being said, I can confidently say that they have some of the best tacos in the entire area! I mean, I used to order 4 at a time but that got to be just too much. I usually go for the adobo, carne asada, and carnitas. I'm one of those people that finds their favorite item and doesn't stray no matter how many time I go. That being said, I've heard great things about some of their other items. The carne asada fries in particular have garnished a lot of attention and I hear they also have bomb chorizo.

I sent a guest of my hotel here recently first with the disclaimer that the best food always originates from the "hole-in-the-wall" looking spots. This place can be classified as a bit in the hood part of town but pay no bother to all that. Great views of Seaside and Sand City from the two tables outside. Its been there for ages and they do great work. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Jesus H. Christ. This is the WORST food I've ever had. Seriously, what in the unholy crap are people in this area smoking that they think this stuff is remotely delicious? We couldn't finish our meal. Hell, to say we even started it would be a stretch. Holy Mother of God... Very funny, Yelpers. You got me good this time!

My boyfriend and I got the chicken, and carne asada tacos. We also shared a side of rice.

First off, let me say, yeah, the portions are huge, but... it's sh*t food. More DOES NOT equal better in this case! The carne asada could pass as mediocre if I hadn't eaten in a month. The chicken? BLEEECCCHHHH. That was NOT chicken. I've had sketchy chicken tacos growing up in Honduras, and those didn't taste anywhere near as bad as the ones from Baldemiro's. The rice was pretty bad too. My boyfriend's daughter (who loves rice) was wide eyed and deeply disturbed at the thought of having another bite of the rice and said "The rice makes me feel like throwing up..."  Yeah, kiddo. Me too.

Nothing about the place was clean. Nothing about the "food" was fresh, tasty, flavorful, or any of the other positive words used by other Yelpers to describe the abominations we received on our plates.

I've eaten at dirty, sketchy location taco-stands before, and had much better food, service, and no illness. There's places I've eaten at that probably DID use dog/cat/pigeon/corpses/etc, but at least it TASTED good. Here? No. Just, NO.

My boyfriend was actually hoping to throw up, just to get it over with sooner. I lucked out, and had a kidney stone come up and distract me for a little while. But the awful food from Bal-de-Mierda's (see what I did there?) seems to be winning this one. Oh god.

If you're on meth, drunk, took the brown acid, are missing 3/4 of your taste buds and have some sort of brain damage, then yes, this place is wonderful.

If you're a somewhat functioning human, then please, only send your worst enemies here.

If you graduated, still a student, or a future student of Seaside High School, you've had to have been to Baldemiros at least 5 times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not the best breakfast burrito I've had, but pretty tasty. During junior year, my friends and I would always go here to snack after a long study session at SHS library, and it's only about a 5 minute walk away!

I'll probably go here again just for old times sake and memories.

For the money, I consider this the best chimichanga in town. Plenty of guac and sour cream; nearly large enough for two meals. It's on a small hill so if you eat there you have a little bit of a view. It's not the cleanest inside, but standard for a taco shop.
The carne asada isn't the best in town, but the portions are large; I'd usually get a chimi togo and snack on it all day long.
They'll give you chips if you ask.

We LOVE Baldimeros! One of our favorite cheap dinners is one of their carnitas jumbo burritos which we have affectionately named, "the baby burrito" because when you carry it out of the restaurant, you can carry it like a newborn baby across your arm. The prices have recently gone up a bit, but two people can eat the "baby burrito" for about $8.50 with enough for lunch the next day. It's so inexpensive and delicious that I don't even care that the decor is tacky.

Where else can you get a burrito the size of your forearm for under $7?  The chicken super burrito was delicious and I couldn't even get through half of it.  This place is great because it is the cheap grungy Mexican food that we all love.

Heard about this place from a friend, so we decided to try it on our way back to Monterey.  Large selection on their menu -- typical Mexican fare.  I love enchiladas but usually shy away from them at quick service places since it is hard to make a good enchilada in 5 minutes.  But, since it was combo #1, I decided to give it a try.  They were pretty darn good -- nice flavor -- beans and rice were par for the course -- nothing special.  We also had the fish tacos -- very tender fish with lots of fresh lettuce and pico de gallo.  No free refills on sodas.  We will be back.

I'll have to come back and try something else. I came for a late breakfast / early lunch and the chicken burrito I had was pretty plain with no sauce or flavoring added to the meat and refried beans made with lots of lard. There is homemade salsa that you can add and the mango agua fresca was excellent.

I've only eaten there once, but it was for breakfast and it was very good.  Huge menu of selections, even for beverages, and the food was made quickly.  A small little place, but worthy of visiting.  I hope to return.

Need to try a burrito I guess.  Had a carnitas taco, carne asada taco, and fish taco.  The carnitas and fish tacos were ok.  The carne asada was pretty good.  All were very inexpensive ($2 each I think).  I was not hugely impressed by the salsa.  It did not taste fresh and alive like I wanted it to.  Compared to the Mission back in SF, I just thought this place was ok, though at half the price, which is appreciated.  I realize that I may get flamed for making that comparison and told to keep my arse in SF if I like the damn tacos so much there, but it is true.  Perhaps the burrito is more better.
