Review from GiGi D.
West Hollywood, CA
Stretching, strengthening, focusing on your core; doing these things are very important yet most of us forget or just don't have the time to do them. Nancy is here to remind you that slouching is not acceptable. She is a wonderful pilates instructor because she truly cares about her clients. She takes the time to evaluate your body through the way you stand and pinpoints the areas you need to work on. From there she takes you to the reformer to test your strength and ability. She wants you to feel comfortable while also get a good work out, so she won't push you unless you tell her to.
I would recommend Nancy as a pilates instructor to anyone... another PLUS to Nancy... she is very affordable, unlike some "fancy" pilates instructors in LA. -

Nancy is a former student of mine. I am proud and impressed with her dedication in becoming a Pilates instructor and opening her own studio.
Nancy received her certification from Turning Point Studios in Walnut Creek under the tutelage of master Pilates trainers, Nora St. John and Naomi Leiserson. She also continues to take courses to increase her knowledge in movement and physical rehabilitation.
Nancy has worked hard to hone her Pilates instruction, teaching her clients about the importance of correct alignment and posture. She is also very intuitive in her work and compassionate in helping her clients continue healing after physical therapy..
I would personally seek Nancy's company should I need to do any post-rehabilitative work. -

Nancy is a caring and empathic teacher who really focuses on the individual as a whole. She was able to notice small differences that truly affected my whole body within the first session. After two surgeries on my knee and over a year of physical therapy, Nancy was the first person to not only look at my injury, but how my body and mind had adjusted to the injury and working toward recovering the muscle memories prior to the injury. She has provided me with the tools to be more cognizant of the way my body moves in space. Nancy has not only reduced my pain, leveled my balance, and strengthened my body, but she has encouraged me to think differently about my injury. She is the best!

I want to recommend Nancy and Balanced Place. I had an ankle injury ten years ago that affected my mobility and locomotion. Nancy is gentle, talented and a great communicator. I am seeing changes in my body and awareness after only a couple of sessions. My advice is to forget about personal trainers and spend half the money to utilize Nancy's gifts to help you get back into conditioning. I had a lot of reservations about using pilates but not only is her approach sustainable but her style will overcome even the most resistant mind (like mine!)

Hello, Welcome to Balanced Place. It is my job and mission to undo preconceptions about pain and possibility. You do not have to suffer; you do not have to accept pain; you can do more. I specialize in the possibilities of the body.
I am a mind-body practitioner, Somatic therapist and certified Pilates Instructor with a special emphasis in post-rehab conditioning in many areas such as joint instability, fibromyalgia, back weakness, neuro-muscular rebalancing, gait issues, posture, and core conditioning. I also work with all types of cancer patients pre and post treatment and recently with Iraq war veterans and find my masters degree in psychology to be an extremely helpful addition to my sessions.
Overcoming my past physical challenges coupled with detailed academic and practical studies of the mind and body enable me to offer genuine empathy to each one of my clients and to create dynamic Pilates and Somatic therapy movement programs to fit the individual's specific needs.
