My stylist is Matt, the owner. I've been seeing him every 6 weeks for years. I've never had a bad experience.
I am half Asian, half Caucasian, so my hair (thick, mostly straight with a little wave) has always been a challenge to hairdressers and barbers alike. During my first appointment with Matt's stylists, I was able to have a meaningful technical conversation with them about my hair type and what cuts would be good and look good and be easy to maintain. We settled on the "Eaton Flop", which looks great on me, and I've been sticking with it ever since.
Great service, great stylists, a clean place. -

All my life, I've never been one to "have" to go back to the same hairdresser -- until now. I've been to Balance three times now to get my hair cut and will continue to go back in the future. I've tried various other places and methods ... sprout, supercuts, cutting my hair myself... and but Balance gives me the best haircut out of all of them.
Here are some of the reasons I like them:
1. They are open late so I can get an appointment after work (7:30pm appointment!! amazing!)
2. I love how they have designed their salon, so it's pretty to look at while you wait for your appointment
3. Parking is super easy and free in a lot right outside their salon, especially for those later appointments
4. They also have nice artwork on the walls
5. I really like how they ('they' meaning my hair dresser Debbie) cut my hair. I don't know what they do differently than other places I've gone to but I feel it always comes out nice and smelling really good. Plus, however Debbie cuts my hair, it grows out nicely too - which other places haven't done.

I have been going to Balance for years and will never go anywhere else. I always hated going into a salon because so many places have such a pretentious vibe and left me feeling uncomfortable. At Balance you can have a cup of tea while you wait and feel at home knowing that you are valued as a client. I have recommended several friends and they have all been happy with their cuts and coloring services.
Everyone there is extremely talented and wants you to leave feeling confident that you acheived the goal you were striving for.
My stylist, Britney, has worked with me over the years transform my hair from long and curly (a complete mess) into a short, sleek, styled work of art. I've never been happier with my hair.
As for their products, an Italian brand called Davines- I can't say I've ever used a shampoo that I sincerely felt the difference it made on my hair like Davines does.

I moved to Philly in the summer and still make time to get my hair cut at Balance when I'm in Baltimore to see friends, etc. Terrific cut, style, color, etc--this is the place for high quality service.
It is a boutique salon and they focus on what they do best, hair. The staff--from receptionist and on--is incredibly warm and helpful. The salon itself is well designed and relaxing. I love their products too--but you won't find anyone trying to push it on you like some salons. I've referred several friends over the years, and they are all fans of Balance.
