Review from Molly B.
San Rafael, CA
Three girlfriends and I rented a two bedroom condo here this weekend for my bachelorette party and it was perfect! The price was incredibly reasonable too. Everything was very new, clean and nice and the beds were super comfortable. Our "cabin" had two bedrooms (one with a balcony) and a bathroom downstairs and the kitchen, living room and a second bathroom were upstairs. There was a fireplace and deck with a hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped, though small. The upstairs bathroom had this amazing shower with two shower heads, which was definitely a treat coming out of the hot tub. I can imagine staying for a week and being very comfortable!

We went up for one night to test out the spot for a longer stay with friends. Very functional and pleasant (although be prepared that it takes a long time to heat up the downstairs bedrooms and bath, but bath has a heater). Beautiful setting and although the weather didn't permit us to enjoy the porches or the seating area between homes, we could see that would be pleasant. This is a comfortable place (not high end but solidly a bit above mid-tier). Roomy and nice bathrooms and the bed we slept on was comfortable. It was relatively reasonably priced for what you get. Good proximity to the coast and other small towns and wineries.

We've been renting here for years while staying at Russian River. Management has always been accommodating and maintains units in good order. They have full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, washer and dryer, grills, hot tubs (more expensive units), parking, and picnic area outside. The community of Rio Nido where homes are is summer home community with some people living throughout whole year. Overall Balalaika is great place to stay at.

For my birthday party, I rented a 2-bedroom "cabin" at the Balalaika Guest Homes (It looks rustic from the outside, but inside it is well-appointed and looks like a nice timeshare or house). I had been looking a long time for a place to stay in Guerneville but everything in early July either had a 2-night minimum and/or an exorbitant cleaning fee. This one had neither, so it was the best choice. When I called, the manager was friendly and helpful with my questions.
The unit was enormous, clean, and all my guests were wowed by how comfortable and well-appointed it was - we enjoyed the bbq, hot tub, and even the piano! It was a good base for those of us who came up during the day, and very comfortable for those of us who spent the night - at our maximum during the day we had about 9 people visiting and there was room for everyone. There are 2 decks, 2 spacious bedrooms and a futon, so at $179 a night it is a remarkable deal for a unit that comfortably sleeps 4-6! I had a relaxing, memorable time and would definitely stay here again.
