Again, I'm really battling a love/hate relationship with all of these local bakeries. Great products but not fair for those like me who have no "off button" on their tummies.
Their pistachio ghadayeef varietals are to die for. I like going to Zankou for lunch & then here for coffee and sweets.
Do it!
PS Chocoate baklava too :) -

My friend and I were randomly driving around in Glendale going to lunch. We stumbled upon this hidden mom & pop shop. Once we stepped in, there were over 20 different types of Baklava.
Since there weren't many prices in the store in terms of pricing, I asked the sales lady. She says they charge by weight. A couple of the items are flat rate since they weigh more than other items.
At the end I chose a couple to sample, which included almond, chocolate, pistachio, and walnuts. They may look little, but they're sure filled with yummy goodness! The almond was so smooth that I can taste its freshness. I must say that the chocolate wasn't too sweet, but may need a bit more hit of chocolate.
I'm taking a break from eating all of my samples in one sitting. However, I will definitely go back again and sample other types in the near future.
Just a warning...parking may be a tight squeeze. -

SOOOOOOO GOOODD!!!! I'm not sure if they are all called baklava but they had the best baklava I've ever had!! Especially one that has chocolate over it :) and I liked that I could pick by piece instead of getting 30 of same ones.

Imagine this: You're in Glendale (or anywhere in the Valley) and you go to an Armenian owned business, and:
You are greeted instead of getting a look making it clear you're bothering them?
They're friendly and know what they're talking about?
Items are consistently fresh?
Welcome to Baklava Factory, because that's where you're at. I don't give 5 stars easily but even for this company, its easy and natural. They know their sweets and they're friendly. Their espresso is pretty nice too.
They don't have pastries, but they have cookies...hey, no ones perfect! Besides, pastries get old after half a day, right?

At my first visit to this fabled place a woman entered as I was ordering my Kanafeh. KANAFEH PEOPLE!!!! (if you don't know what it is, I'm going to say to you what my arab relatives would say to me: "It's good. Just eat. With tea.")
Oh yeah, the woman. She walks in and says "Am I in Baklava heaven?". I turned to her, with kanafeh and tray of the most delicate and lusciously-not-overly-sweet baklava and sweets and say. "Yes, woman. You ARE!" -

I want to say that this place IS the place if you want good baklava any place in Southern California. I say because this place is dedicated for baklava. They have all different types of baklava and it seems that the choices are endless. Just about all of them seem to be good. I don't recall at the moment which ones were the ones I tried but they were darn good. In any case, for good baklava, this IS the place!

Holy fuck! Emphasis on holy. I usually have no business walking into most bakeries, you know, being a strict vegetarian and all. Thanks to lent and all that Catholic jazz, I was able to score some pastries sans eggs and dairy. The almond baklava was probably my favorite, but definitely try the other flavors like the pistachio dusted "fingers" or the walnut/pecan baklava. Then prepare yourself for the most incredible textural experience ever-- crunchy, flaky, creamy, nutty and crisp. I nearly lost my mind... and control of my car. I couldn't wait till I parked to dig into my tray. Totally mind blowing. The customer service was great as well. The staff were very helpful, answering all my annoying questions.
I will definitely be back later this month during this time of "sacrifice". Wish you fuckers were observing Lent more often, maybe then I could hit up more bakeries. -

This is my go to place when I am asked to bring a desert to any event. I like that the fact that for $20.00 I can get a pre-selected tray of delights and people can eat them like the little, honey laced finger foods that they are.
There is a Zankou in the same area so you can park, have delicious chicken and then cruise by for a delectable desert. If you don't want to buy a full tray of baklava you can select any number and any type that you desire.
They also have a nice selection of nuts at a reasonable price. -

I really hate this place.
Because every time I come in planning to buy 1, maybe 2 pieces for a quick treat - I leave with a tray... enough to make myself, my husband, my in-laws, my cousins, and my colleagues fat.
It's just not fair.
Why do you have to display all of your fresh, crisp, delicious baklava out for us to see? Why does it have to smell like sugary syrupy goodness when I walk in?
Aw, man. -

The worst expiriance I have ever had! This place has no sense of how to do business .
I placed an order for the only good item from their medioker in many ways menu for a weekend party desert, just to be told at the time of pick up, that the owner forgot to make it! If you can not fulfill an order , dont take an order, simple as that! -

I wasn't a huge baklava fan at first, but the quality and freshness of the baklava here have made me a convert. Sweet without being cloying, delightfully crispy, but soaked in sugar syrup at the right spots, this place really hits my sweet tooth. I don't have much of one, but my roommate has an enormous yen for all things sweet, and this places pleases both of us immensely.
The ladies behind the counter are always genial and courteous. Get any piece of baklava here, I haven't hit a bad one yet. The prices are always reasonable. My only gripe- the tiny, crowded parking lot they share with Zankou. -

Hey I was looking for a dessert place and stumbled upon Baklava, I read one Yelper mention Pistacio and thought oh they have ice cream too.
Well i guess I never really paid atttention to what baklava was. I would eat it occassionally but never really knew or understood what was in it.
Anyways my gf got a couple of minis to try. Man they were good and fresh. They melted in my mouth where on other occasions when I've tried them they were hard and not to great but this place it's a specialty and it was nice and fresh. I'd go back if I were in the area in the future.
This is not much of a sit down place but more of a buy and go place. It is well lit and it would be nice to sit and eat if there were more tables and or other snacks or drinks to go with this dessert. -
Review from Amy K.
I've had maybe five kinds of their baklava so far, and I've liked all of them. I like that you can whiz in and buy a prepared tray, or carefully pick the ones that look best (I recommend the bird's nests, walnut). There's also an assortment of cookies, and some frozen desserts, too. Only complaint: the same woman was working both times I went, and the first time, she didn't say hello, or even ask me if I needed help, for several minutes. The second time, she was friendlier, but still not the best customer service. Whatever. I'm not there for conversation.

I'm going to admit something I don't even like admitting to myself: I came in here after I saw an episode of the Kardashian's, and figured it couldn't be bad. Ok, there, I said it. Now I need therapy...
The lady behind the counter was very friendly, and stood proudly behind the generous display of fresh baklava. There are many styles and flavors to choose from so it's easy to get yourself a good variety. I got a medium box that easily fits about 10-12 pieces for $8. The almond, and chocolate were very tasty. I got myself a good helping so I won't be back for a while. Also, since we stayed to drink our coffee she threw in two extra pieces of the almond variety! Thanks, Lady! We'll be back ;]
They have other pastries, too but I've yet to give those a try. -

I had absolutely no reason being in this bakery. I should have just waited outside but no... my lady needed me there for support. We got a tray filled with assorted baklava. The sweet honey goodness and nutty pistachio filled my mouth as I drifted into a different type of heaven where all pastries were created and consumed equal. I enjoyed what I sampled but 'ol girl did not. She said "Andrius, I am going to make you some real baklava".

I was like a kid in a candy shop!
Or more like an adult in a baklava shop...
I got a very wide variety of baklava (with almonds, pistachios, walnuts, no nuts). The balance of honey and butter was perfect! I actually ate myself sick.
There's a very tempting shiny wheely dessert that Mike ordered. (I was a little dubious). I forget what it's called, but the adorable girl behind the counter called it simply "fried dough." It was disGUSting! "You can actually feel the fat and syrup dripping down your throat!"
For a sweet filo fest, I can't think of any other place in town to send ya. -

5 Enthusiastic Stars!
The baklava's great, but the REAL TREAT is the ICE CREAM!
Seriously, I've never had pistachio ice cream that good. It actually tasted strongly of the actual nut pistachio. I don't know if that makes sense. If you've gone through most of your life (like I have) thinking pistachio ice cream is cream dyed green and then filled with small shavings of pistachio, then the Baklava Factory pistachio will rock your world. It was dense, rich, ice cream, with an almost overwhelming pistachio flavor. I loved it! -

This is "A Ok" if you live in glendale then come here its your local arabic pastry place, but its nothing compared to Tripoli Pastry in Anaheim, I have yet to find a place that stands up to them or Victory Bakery in Anaheim for their "chocolate mousse mini cakes" that are the size of a football.
Its good baklava for the area, but if you are driving from far away you may be disappointed since its not mind blowing pastry. Good, but not great.
However, if you live in Glendale by all means come here, its the best middle eastern pastry shop in Glendale! -

Wow, I wasn't aware that baklava could be so...succulent. Granted this isn't cheap stuff, but the quality certainly justifies the higher than average prices. I don't really empathize with the other reviewers complaining about customer service. Hopefully this was circumstantial. Or maybe people are just too used to the charade of fake kindness that is forced upon you like a vice grip. As for me, I just want people to be civil and competent. I don't need plastic smiles and forced conversation. Okay, back to the product.
They also have a wide variety of baklava, more than you could imagine possible. Feeling extravagant ? You can sample every single variation that's baked fresh every day. Then top it off with some Zankou chicken which sits next door, waiting for your sugar loaded arrival.

Call me spoiled. My mom has a banking customer who makes her homemade baklava. After trying that, it's almost unfair to even try reviewing Baklava Factory.
Everything I got was pretty good, but knowing how good baklava can be really puts Baklava Factory at a disadvantage.
If I was a Baklava Virgin, yeah, I bet they'd get four stars, but compared to that homemade baklava, they just can't compete. -

Chocolate? Sure. Coffee? Of course. Sex? Definitely. But baklava?
Yes, I admit it. I've been craving baklava. I've been fiending for it. But before you judge, check out the Baklava Factory. Who knew there were so many variations on this delightful treat? While all seemed to start from the same basics-- flaky puff pastry, ground nuts, and honey, each had a subte distinction that made it special-- some were made with sheets of pastry, others with a crunchier shredded dough. Some had walnuts, others pistachios. One that we tried even had a creamy rose water flavored layer.
The best part of this place? When my hubby asked if we could take pictures, the woman rushed behind the counter. We weren't sure, for a moment, if she was going to approve our request, but she was straightening and arranging the pastries to make the best impression possible...
Delightful. -

The walnut baklava is delicious! The only complaint I have is that it's REALLY buttery. I'm not really a fan of butter - so it was a little overwhelming to see (and feel) the butter dripping down after I bit it. But oh my goodness, it was good! Now I'm craving it like crazy and am going to drive 40 minutes tomorrow to get some.
The cookies weren't anything to talk about, but the walnut birds nest and the walnut baklava was amazing! I'm addicted! -

OMG. i never say OH EMM GEE, but this place is the epitome of the exclamation. I know nothing like it. You can drive by and not need any pastries, but you will find yourself in here because it's that delicious.
If you like the ethnic desserts from Armenia and Russia, this is for you. Trust me, go here, and you won't prove me wrong. -

I have no idea what to make of this place.
Each time I get the same thing: the plain baklava.
Half the time it's moist and syrupy and full of yumminess.
The other half it's dry and hard to swallow.
What the heck?
I don't know!
It's a hit or miss thing obviously. So I don't know whether to recommend it or not. If you get it good, you get it reeeeeeally good. If you don't, well, I guess you waste a buck. Not a fiasco to be sure but...
Go if you want. Don't know what to tell you. It's not all that risky given how cheap it is. Hopefully you'll luck out.
The folks there are always friendly, which I think is also what keeps me wanting to try.
Good luck. -

I can't say that I have a discriminating palate when it comes to baklava. For me, you'd have to mess up pretty badly to ruin baklava. That being said, I liked the BFFP. I stopped here after going to Zankou Chicken. I got a sampler to go.
Nothing fancy or OMG!, with the exception of the almond-thingie, sweet thingie (I really have got learn some names here!)
If you need a baklava fix, it'll do. If you need something for a discriminating palate, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, average on the taste, high marks for friendliness.
Overall, I said "yum." -

Went to this place twice, the first time was "okay" but the second time it seems like they wanted to give me some diabetic shock. Maybe it's my fault for not telling them that I don't want it DRENCHED in syrup but they shouldn't make it DRENCHED in sugary syrup in the first place...
Pretty expensive too. 1lbs for $10.
Kinda have to mention this : They'll only smile to you if you're Armenian. -
Review from Sunny M.
They're so good that your ass is gonna become the size of Brazil (as Bridget Jones referred to hers)
When you go there you have to get except from the obvious (Baklava)
1. Bourma
2.Touloumba
3.Ghadeif (two types either with nuts or cream, both erotic)
4.Sareh Bourma
5.Finger
6.Go there as early as they open and get Knefe(the "k" is not silent), that is the shit! (skuze the language but seriously) it's sooooooo goooooood. Arabic countries, I know for sure Lebanese eat Knefe with bread for breakfast. That will totally complete your life (the previous 5 too).
This is the place for Middle Eastern sweet teeth. -

I'd give it a higher rating if they were more consistent. I use to in every time I stop at Zankou cause it's in the same strip mall.
This review is for the baklava, not the gelato. I've tried all their baklava flavors. Sometimes they are perfectly crisp, flaky, lightly sweet, and fresh tasting, a wonderfully balanced dessert. Other times they are chewy, dripping with sugar syrup and taste like stale nuts from the back of your cupboard.
I like that I can get a couple pieces or a whole box, and the location (great for picking up dessert when you are grabbing family dinner at Zankou), but their inconsistent quality has me going back less and less often.
Careful buying the prepackaged candies in the bakery case (like nougats and turkish delights), because again, they can be fresh and soft, or hard and flavorless. And rather expensive for prepackaged sweets that I can get at the Armenian market just up the street. -

Such delicate little pastries! I loved the variety of baklava, cookies and little cakes. How can something so good come in little packages? Great customer service made recommendations and showed a true interest in building a customer relationship! A+

Review from Craig R.
When I think of things that would be found in a factory I think of heavy equipment, cars, furniture, clothes, under paid and over worked employees, but Baklava?
That's right, in Glendale there is a factory that is filled with nothing but these delicious treats.
Although this place is not as big as a factory, it's more like a big bakery, but I think that Baklava Factory is a cool sounding name.
This place is kind of hard to find, it is located in the back of a small shopping center that you can not see from the street.
Once inside I could not believe all the different varieties of Baklava they had, they have at least fifteen different types.
They have almond Baklava, pistachio, walnut, coconut, Baklava that is drizzled with chocolate, covered in syrup, Baklava that is crunchy, soft, flaky, and even Baklava that is dipped in rose water. But Baklava is not the only treats that this place offers, they also have a separate case filled with cookies. They have almond cookies, pistachio cookies, cashew cups, coconut cookies, sesame crisps, etc. They also serve gelato. With all those choices there was no way to try just one or two types of Baklava so my girlfriend and I decided to just get a container full of all different types. Before we started picking out our treats the lady behind the counter just started handing us whole samples of their Baklava and cookies. We ended up trying at least half of their Baklava flavors and about four different cookies before we even bought anything. We ended up leaving with 8 different types of Baklava, my favorites were the almond, coconut, birds nest (flaky dough with pistachios on top), and the Baklava that was dipped in rose water. The Baklava here is the best I have tried from any shop, it is almost as good as home made Baklava (nothing is better then homemade Baklava). This place is really inexpensive, all of our Baklava cost only around eight dollars, and if you figure all the samples we got I think that we got a whole lot for real cheap.
I absolutely love this place, it is the Sprinkles of Baklava shops. I'M just glad I do not live close to this factory, I could totally see myself getting Baklava from here weekly, and that would be bad for my diet. -

If I'm going to drive all the way out to Glendale to go to Porto's, I usually also try to stop here, too. Hands down, they have the best tasting baklava. In the past, I've been to the Encino location, too. Why can't there be one on the Westside?!

i'm going to preface this review by saying i have "asian" taste buds when it comes to desserts. that means i don't like my sweets overly sweet. oxymoron you might say? bite me.
baklava factory is a few steps away from zankou. not feeling fat enough from stuffing face there, i went to pick up dessert. i definitely felt out of sorts here, not because it was unpleasant, but because this place really does house a wide range of baklava/sweets to choose from and most which i'm hardly familiar with. i decided to get one of most things and went home for a taste test.
in general, i think everything i brought home was too sweet. i'm not a huge fan of items drenched in honey but that's what it was...items drenched with honey and stuffed with nuts. except for this one piece that i remember called the "finger" which was pretty yummay. but really? would i go back just to get the "finger?" i get that all the time on the 405 and it's free! but if you are a baklava whore, i imagine all their goodies there are probably pretty tasty. it's just not for me though....too sweet.Listed in: if you are what you eat, then…
