Portion size upgrade?!?! Haven't eaten here in months but it seems their portions have nearly doubled!

Ate at the bar / counter top area and very pleasant experience. Nut only is there no wait but the service seemed quicker.

The biscuit in biscuit n gravy dish was overly tough like the dough was overworked. Worth a pass.

Frittatas are their money dish especially coming with seasoned potatoes, a meat, and toast. Overall good experience and looking forward to dining here more often....hopefully will have a bigger hunger next time

Whoops, I thought this was Bakin' & Eggs, not the Gymboree down the street- What's that? I can't you hear you over the din of kids- this is Bakin' & Eggs and not the Gymboree? No way!

Beware Bakin' & Eggs before 9am on a weekend- it's got to be all the talk on the playground, as it's like a free Wiggles Concert in Bucktown- crazy full with the tykes!

All kidding aside (heh), our visit to Bakin' & Eggs was very pleasant. Staff is really friendly and service was great! Ordered the bacon flight, because everything's better with bacon! The only problem was I couldn't really tell too much difference between Mesquite, Honey, Jalapeno, Cherry and...umm, the normal one. It's a novelty I can skip on my next visit.

The Chilaquiles I ordered was excellent! Got it with two eggs over medium, and the chilaquiles is more of a hash kind of texture, appropriately spicy, and very tasty. The Intelligentsia coffee is a great touch.

I envision many pleasant returns- but I do plan on sleeping late next time!

The BEST BREAKFAST/BRUNCH I have EVER had:)
Today is Mother's Day.  My husband, kids and I chose Bakin and Eggs to eat at.
    The wonderfulness is listed below:
    1. Very friendly, helpful staff.
    2. While you wait fresh delicious coffee served in a cool mug with a Chicago Flag(wound up purchasing one of the cups).
    3. Family friendly(always a plus for families...especially with young children)
    4. Delicious fritatta.  I had carmelized onions in mine.  Wonderful!!
    5. Brownie for my kids was the most creamy, chocolatey, rich brownie.
    6. Our waitress was very sweet, helpful.
    7. the cheddar grits were so delicious.  Very rich and flavorful.
    8. I thought the huge serving of French toast was a cake but it was my husband/kids' order of French toast.  My husband said the sauce on it was so yummy.
    9. And almost forgot the noteworthy array of dessert cupcakes and goodies.

If you arrive when it opens the wait isn't long.  We waited about 30 minutes but it is well worth it.  It was Mother's Day and a Sunday.  Hey that's a great sign at a restaurant.  Shows how great it really is:)

Definitely will be my special Mother's Day place from now on:)   And other days if I can help it..lol.

Thank you Bakin and Eggs.  You made my Mother's Day awesome!!

5 stars for having a bacon flight.  Asparagus and spinach fritattas were perfect.  Banana pecan French toast was excellent as were the grits.  Everything else on menu sounds great,  Service was fast and friendly.  Like the church pews for seating.   Lots of seating and really nice atmosphere. Definitely would return.

I've been to Bakin & Eggs for breakfast really early in the morning and also for brunch around 1PM. The portion sizes are not supersized (which I love because I think that too much food just to look impressive on a plate is a waste) and the service is great. My first time eating there, I ordered the standard scrambled eggs with the bacon flight. The second time I went we sat at the bar and I ordered the breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, multi-grain toast, jalapeno bacon, aged cheddar, and herb mayo. It was one of the tastiest breakfast sandwiches I've ever eaten. Both times I ordered the potatoes with aged parmesan cheese (don't be afraid of the cheese on the potatoes because it isn't too heavy and bursting with flavor!). My friend from out of town loved every bite of our meal. I highly recommend Bakin' & Eggs to anyone!

Heaven! Is all I have to say. I'm a huge breakfast/brunch lover and really enjoy trying new places, but I just can't seem to stop going there. Everything I've had had from the Parmesan rosemary breakfast potatoes to the lemon raspberry pancakes are simply an early morning dream come true.

I've also gotten free baked goods a few times, since some receipts have a free gift associated with them! YUM!

ps Bacon Flight - YES PLEASE!

I have to update my review as my last two visits were quite sad. I went in on a Friday around 2pm. The server was too busy cleaning the windows to even want to help me. She came off annoyed.  They had a different menu during the week and what I wanted wasn't on the menu.  I went back two weeks later at 2:30 on a Saturday. The same server, rudely says "The kitchen closes at 3" It was almost like a "hurry the F up and place your order."  Our food arrived quickly and she brought the bill. She was then GONE. All the staff was then eating. When they were done eating, they started to flip the chairs over on the tables and basically kick us out without saying anything. I scarfed my food down in such a hurry.  I'm so disappointed.  My favorite place just became a let down.

I love brunch and everything that comes with it.  People watching during brunch hours is the best. You've got the people clearly hurting from the night before, the early risers who are showered and ready for the day and then the families with their lil munchkins.  I love everything about that and even more that everyone is in a good mood. And Bakin & Eggs does a great job of putting people in those great moods. It's airy and bright and the staff is very pleasant. No one is rushing around like a maniac. You can sit and relax.

We had to wait about 30 min which is fairly standard for a Sunday.  However, what I really loved is they have self serve coffee while you wait or you can order a specialty drink or baked good from the counter.
**The Chai tea latte is so freaking good. Skip the coffee and get this. I had order envy just after one sip of my co-diners' chai. Oh and the croissant. wow. so light and flaky.

I had the BLT breakfast sandwich. Mmmmm. Tons of bacon. Great pesto mayo and super fresh tomatoes. Perfection.

Co-diner had the biscuits and gravy. He practically licked his plate so I'll take that as a good sign.

I was full for a good 4 hours after. Seriously, I felt like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner. It's kinda like you know you are full but it's so good that you are willing to suffer later  to have that "one more bite".

If you like brunch, put it on your list.
The only downside...no booze for mimosas and bloodies.

I'm a big breakfast proponent - it's my favorite meal of the day so I invited a friend to join me after seeing a review on "Check Please". It's a bright and busy place. The first thing that struck me is a) it's loud and and b) it's a family establishment with a lot of children under 5 running around. If you're child adverse, this isn't the place for you. At 9:00 am I put my name in for a 25 minute wait. There's free Intelligencia coffee and water while you wait for your table. The food is good and fresh and they were willing to work with me and my odd food allergy issue. I had the bacon waffles (the maple syrup isn't the real deal), my friend the spinach frittata, and we split the flight of bacon.   I'll be back on a weekend when they open at 8:00 am. Any time after 10, I'd be afraid of a 1 hour wait for a table.

This is by far my favorite breakfast place in Chicago! I have no idea why this place only has 3.5 stars. The only thing i can imagine that is keeping it from a 4+ star average is that on weekends there is usually a long wait. But man, the food is worth the wait. My husband is from Georgia and he says everytime, "still the best grits I've ever had." You go to breakfast places and usually they are known for one thing and everything else on the menu is average. Everything I have had here is always amazing! And the friends I have brought there agree. The fritatas, the bacon, the potatoes, etc. My number one favorite thing there is the Banana Pecan French Toast. Holy cow, it is amazing. The waiters say the Bread Pudding French Toast is their most popular, and I like it too, but the Banana Pecan is just amazing. So try this place for breakfast already!

I went for early brunch so we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes and they had coffee ready for while we waited. I like the mixture of modern design with a bit of kitchy blue color thrown in here and there. It was also very spacious while still feeling warm.

Their thing seems to be interesting bacon combos. Next time I go back I want to try the bacon flight. I had a taste of the jalapeno bacon and it had quite a bite to it.

I decided on the bacon waffle which was very light and fluffy. There were so many options that I will be back to try more.

Our server was very friendly and fast. She came back for coffee refills a few times.

A flight of bacon? Yes, please!

I strongly recommend going off-peak to avoid a wait (which will find you standing in the impulse buy-laden "bakery" section).  Once in the dining room, you'll enjoy plenty of space--unlike other brunch hot spots that pack tables 10-inches apart.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal.  Bakin' & Eggs grits side was easily the best I've had north of St. Louis.  Very, very well done. I ordered up the southwest frittata, which was perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and accompanied by two links of tasty sausage.

The capper? Two breakfast entrees with all of the trimmings and drinks came to $29 + tip. That's a steal in Chicago!

Definitely add this one to your Lakeview to-do list!

My friend lives in the Lakeview area and they have many brunch spots but she chose to take me here and I'm so glad she did. After a nice walk around Lakeview on a NYE morning we stopped into this place at 1:30ish and it was packed. Nice, huge restaurant. Check out my picture! We had a 30 minute wait, worth it. We killed our hunger with a little Intelligentsia Coffee (Self Served and your Waiter Charges you Later-what a smart concept). So we chatted and enjoyed our coffee before getting our table.

This place was nice and big so it wasn't like you could hear a neighbor's conversation, that was nice. A menu with many great brunch selections all with interesting ingredients? This was hard. My friend got a caprese frittata for 10 bucks and it was good. I went with a burrito breakfast sandwich for 9 dollars and it was super good. The  house potatoes with cheese were also delicious. The ingredients were fresh, presentation was amazing, and portion size was big (but I ate good!).

    Here's the menu: http://www.bakinandegg...

Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. He was delighted to take our picture with my camera! My friend that I went to this place with ran into him later on for NYE festivities. Small world! Seems like this is a restaurant where people enjoy working at and have a good team.

This place also is a bakery, they had a delicious display of cupcakes. I can see myself stopping here for a coffee and cupcake. I was disappointed that I was too full to buy one!

I think I know what my favorite brunch place is now!

Some bars have whiskey flights. Or wine flights. Or dessert flights.

(I'm not actually sure about that dessert flight, but if that's a real thing, I want to know about it REALLY BAD and someone should keep me in the loop, okay?)

Bakin' & Eggs has a BACON FLIGHT.

And if that's not enough to get you going, there's bottomless coffee, bomb-ass frittatas, severely awesome breakfast potatoes and the whole place is kind of adorable.

    You're welcome.

This place is awesome. We ended up there on a weekday morning so it was pretty empty. Our waitress was funny and attentive and I loved the homey atmosphere. Luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. The coffee was delicious and our mugs were constantly refilled which was great.

We both had the Southwest Frittata and I could not have been happier. I loved the jalapeno bacon inside and the eggs were cooked perfectly. This dish was so full of flavor, all of the veggies inside complimented the rest of the ingredients. I got their breakfast potatoes with cheese on the side and they were fantastic. Well seasoned, they were great alone or with the eggs. I also tried the maple bacon and mesquite, both were unique and full of flavor. Bakin' & Eggs has a ton of cute touches, like the clothespin that your check comes in. Also loved that I could take a cup of Intelligentsia coffee to go!

Why can't I give 2.5 stars? Honestly, it is closer to 3 stars, but I had enough problems here that I have to go with the MEH, than "A-Ok"...the main problem was the service, though, the food was great.

    The Breakdown:

    1. I don't mind waiting. If you do mind then go to a place that was just on Check Please and/or is really hyped and then complain. Not a problem for me to wait...the ambiance in Bakin n Eggs is great and I love the space.

    2. The DIY coffee table is a good idea, but if you are going to have this station the carafes should not be empty for 20 minutes...seriously, 20 minutes. My dining companions were drinking coffee, I wasn't, but they complained about it. Just an FYI.

    3. The cupcake was stale, and I still ate it because I was hungry, but no big deal...these things happen. A+ no the pumpkin spice muffin.

    4. Don't stare my party and I down when we try to stake out at the corner of what APPEARS TO BE a seat yourself counter while we attempt to eat our pastries. I asked if it was a seat yourself section and the girl RUDELY wiped down the counter and gave me an extremely passive aggressive response about how no, it wasnt, etc. Which explained the staring from she and the barista...annoying. It is not my responsibility as a guest in an establishment to know what their counter protocol and I shouldn't have to ask...because she should have informed us of the policy and we would have moved NO PROBLEM.

    5. Our server...ugh. I referred to him as Lurch. He moved at the pace of a snail in a fast paced breakfast environment. His tone did not change at all, up or down, and he seemed like he couldn't be more unhappy to be serving us. It was new years day so maybe he was hungover? I don't know, I don't care...do you know how many times I had to power through a hangover when I worked in the foodservice industry? All the time. Anyway...his apathy was truly irritating. He also agreed to make a substitution (grits for potatoes) and then he charged us for it...but not before he brought us the wrong bill completely.

    6. The food was really very good. Our gravy was lukewarm which was a let down, but it was so good that I didn't really care. My boyfriend, best friend and I were pleased as punch with all of the flavors that it wasn't a big deal.

    7. I never complain in restaurants. NEVER. I am that person who will have hair in my food and still eat the dish because, being a veteran of this industry, I get that things happen. However, after a perfect storm of mishaps I couldn't help but ask if the owner was around, because he was earlier. I saw him on Check Please and he was very nice when we arrived. He had left, but a manager offered to help. I rattled all of these complaints on her and the host. They handled it VERY WELL...they apologized, offered us a brownie and then comped 1/2 of our bill which I was NOT EXPECTING or hoping for...now that is what I call GREAT customer service which is why I WILL BE BACK. I hope to upgrade this rating to a 4 or a 5 because its a shame that their service doesn't match their food.

    The Bottom Line:

-It seems that a lot of other folks on Yelp have had issues with their service and attitudes with servers/baristas/etc. I am surprised because the management seemed great. This is something that absolutely needs to change...service is KEY KEY KEY, I believe that firmly. The food is great, so check it out and, I hope, anyone else would have a better experience with food service.

Oh, and for good measure: The barista who took my pastry/latte order was VERY nice, he was the little guy with brown hair. Kuddos to you.

The choices of bacon make this place just about insane.  But there are plenty of non bacon related breakfast goodness to try as well.  My boyfriend and I decided to stop by for a late brunch after a rehearsal on Sunday afternoon.  It was just what we needed.  The wait of certain times of the morning will probably deter us from coming here all the time, however the food, service and pleasant atmosphere make this a great spot.

    Ah, cute brunch spot!

    The Good:
+Plentiful parking on this stretch of Lincoln
+Self-Serve coffee while you wait (just tell the server once you get to the table!)
    +Bottomless Intelligensia coffee, wheeeee!
+Good balance of 'the usual' (eggs and bacon, omelet, biscuits and gravy) and 'the fun' (frittatas, bacon flights, salmon+lettuce+tomato) brunch foods to choose from
    +Fun, adorable waiter
+Tons of baked goods to drool over while waiting

    The Bad:
+Waiting (ugh, 30 min on Sun afternoon)
    +Tables are close together
+Lots of strollers and babies (like one reviewer said)

Food was great!  I tried the Cinnamon Raisin (cinnamon raisin toast, your choice of egg, sausage and cheese).  Nice combo of the sweet and the salty, ya know? The side of potatoes (w/ rosemary and parmesan, I think?) were really good.

Love that this spot is huge, bright, airy - great place to gossip with friends on a Sunday morning.  Perfect!

    It definitely is okay.

Pros: I didn't have to wait for a table at 9am on a Saturday. I was seated as soon as I arrived.

Cons:  I ordered the chilaquiles and the flight of bacon. I ordered the flight of bacon, after seeing the great reviews on yelp. The food was cold. The chilaquiles tasted good, but it was cold. And the flight of bacon was really not all that special.

I doubt I'll be going back.

Maybe it was just one of those days all restaurants have.  But what a let down.

My wife and daughter came back very enthusiastic after a visit last week, so my wife, my son and I visited today (a Thursday at about 1 pm). My wife was happy with her burrito. And who could not like a flight of bacon?  But my son's egg dish was bland, and the wonderfully sounding frittata with carmelized onion and blue cheese was a flop.  The ingredients were good but bunched in the middle, with a wide band of unseasoned or very lightly seasoned egg on the outside.  Potatos ordered with cheese came without cheese. Reporting that problem to the waiter produced a cup of grated parmisan. (To sprinkle on the potatos, I guess).  The potatos themselves were...just potatoes, no seasoning. The apple sausage ....well, maybe we just didn't like their version, but one bite was enough for each of us. The toast was good, but came with the little jam container 1/3 full.  The coffee was refilled multiple times (and good coffee) but that was the only feature other than the flight of bacon that resembled what the reviews reported. The service was OK but average, not especially personable.  My wife liked the meal; my son and I agreed that the place wouldn't go on our lists for a revisit.

They must have better days; I'm told the place is packed on weekends. But with so many other great breakfast places, it's not likely I'll return.

    So confused by the hype...

A girlfriend insisted she take us  to Bakin' & Eggs for breakfast - which even as a gay guy - I don't understand "going somewhere for breakfast." I get up at 5:30 I eat before 6am omelet etc. But ok fine...

And the whole wait to be seated for breakfast - a. seems gratuitous b. really? But I acquiesced and politely ate before hand and went thinking this would be my lunch - and I love french toast.

The front end staff was pleasant enough and the wait was not long - we chose from the menu while waiting so we could order when we were seated. Walking to our table I saw the french toast being served - it looked boring and bland so i let the server choose an omelet for me - oh boy was she terrified - honey you work here pick my breakfast it will be okay -

BTW the service is funny wanna be hipsters who think they work at Mel's Diner (yes the one Alice and Flo work at). And seriously - the wait is long because it takes for ever to get your food - the best part is I am so serving size oriented when my large omelet arrived - I asked how many eggs is in the omelet - she said she didn't know because they just pull it out of a big vat mixture - oh

Anywho the food is edible but if you like been-there-done-that and you are too lazy to cook at home or too lazy to clean your house to have friends over for breakfast - or you can't scramble and egg, or you're shacked up at home all week with your kids and this is the only time your husband lets you out - then by golly this is the place for YOU! Otherwise learn to make an omelet put some butter on some toast....

    just saying...

BTW the place is completely affordable and clean

This place was ok. I'd heard great things so I wanted to try them. I do like the kind of decor they're going for, with the country feel. It was nice and clean, but that also meant that it was incredibly loud - I found it hard to hear the person sitting across the table from me.

The hot chocolate was outstanding. I ordered two. A lot of times at a breakfast place you get hot chocolate that's from a Swiss Miss packet, and this was, of course, light years better.

I ordered a frittata, and it was just ok. Maybe I don't like caramelized onions. The balsamic did add an interesting flavor that I hadn't considered before, though. The bacon flight wasn't very exciting, and my partner felt it was overpriced at $7 for five slices of bacon. I can't say I necessarily agree with that, but I don't pay attention to how much a side of bacon costs anywhere else, so I could be mistaken.

Mondays appear to be half-off pastry days, so I got a couple gingerbread men and they were good. And even though I'm not a coffee drinker, it's incredibly smart to have the coffee available for diners while they're waiting to be seated and just charging the bill later. All that having been said, I don't know that I'll be back here much in the future.

Had the asparagus frittata and my daughter had the one I had previously. Food still fricking yummy and I have to give kuddos to our server. She was totally together although the only one taking orders with a pretty decent early morning crowd. She checked up on us and totally served all her tables well.
BEST DAMN CHAI latte: creamy spicy goodness. Good gawd !!!! Oh and  it wasn't overpriced like a tasty chai I had elsewhere.
went this morning to get a chai and regular latte to go.  Super nice guys behind the counter and bad ass barista who made my drinks! thank you.

I took off one star because our server was not that attentive. He was barely just okay but served his purpose I guess.

Other than that my experience at Bakin' & Eggs was terrific. The portions were just right. Everything was hot and fresh. I had chamomile tea and another server (not our waiter) brought over a fresh pot without me even having to ask. Plus they had honey for my tea which is always nice.

My aunt and I patronized Bakin' & Eggs today, a cool blustery fall day; it was perfect for brunch.

I recommend the cheese grits if you're in to grits; they're very good and they give you a lot. I can't wait to go back and try this drink they have called the Brown Cow ( I think) it's a mix of dark chocolate milk and coffee. Sounds yummy to me! Also I want to try one of their whoopie pie desserts but they only have them on weekends. I shall return.

Stopped into my favorite place in the hood for breakfast again after a bit of a hiatus. I had my nephew for an Easter egg hunt and we were hungry after. Bob and Gina have created a delicious kid friendly place that I also stop into by myself to sit at the counter which I love to do while reading the paper or catching up on email during the week to get out of the house since I work from home. The kids will get a chalk board and chalk to amuse while waiting for the meal to be created. Plus it is a relatively loud location so you don't have to worry about a child being distracting or annoying to anyone except a scrooge that might not get it. I love their mocha skim latte and their blood orange green tea for my beverage. They serve water in a carafe at the table without ice love that as I am an iceless kinda gal when it comes to water that is, well scotch too but that would be a different place and review. They only do breakfast and lunch here and they do it well. The bacon flight is my ocassional meat splurge. Yes I said bacon flight a selection of bacon all done to perfection. One strip each of Jalapeno, maple smoked, honey, cherry smoked and mequite. The breakfast sandwich to die for in my humble opinion is the breakfast blt it comes with an egg done any way you like it and the bacon flavor of your choice. I go jalapeno to kick up the flavor and like the egg over easy to mop up the yolk with my bread.  You get the choice of house seasoned red skinned potatoes or grits. Not being from the south I guess I never acquired a taste for grits and the potaoes are yummy. I would prefer them a bit more well done but I neglected to specify and could be in the minority on this. The food arrives hot and quick with minimal wait time considering the place is jammin' on all cylinders the day of our visit.  On the weekends expect a wait there is free coffee and water during the that time and the immediate area has some cool little stores to do some window shopping on a nice day. Bargains galore to be found at Tuesday morning across the street.  Omg and don't forget to save room for some bakery from Lovely Bakery the red velvet cupcake is to die for!  p.s. the Lovely bakery on Milwaukee is their creation to Bob and Gina have a passion for food and people that shines and we are the lucky receipients of their creativity. Enjoy!

My gal pal and fellow Yelper Deb E. and I embarked on a walk one beautiful, sunny, crisp, fall morning. Our goal? 10,000 steps before brunch. We had been eyeing the menu at Bakin' & Eggs all week in true food obsessed fashion so we we're determined to meet our goal...which we did. Bring on the bacon flight!

Not familiar with the bacon flight? Well, let me introduce you to it. Ya get a sampling of five varieties of bacon: maple pepper, jalapeno, honey, cherry smoked and mesquite. My favs were the cherry and the jalapeno - it had a nice kick to it!

If you read my review for Dorado, then you can expect that we did not just stop at the bacon flight. We ordered up the biscuit sandwich which is served with eggs your way, cheddar, bacon and is smothered in sausage gravy! ZOMG. It was freaking DELICIOUS. I love me some gravy and the rosemary parmesan  biscuit? Delightful! Really, so good and such a nice touch.

Oh wait, that's not all....lastly we split the...BACON WAFFLE! Holy shite you guys, absolutely scrumptious! Bacon & rum batter? Yes, please! Hit me two times with that! Mmm, it was soo good and I was glad we saved that for last. We of course split all these items...we are not that crazy. Oh, but umm, we did get a triple layer woopie pie to go. How could we not? A graham cracker woopie pie nestled in between layers of cream cheese frosting and red velvet woopie pies? Yea, that's what I thought.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and I will forever be grateful to her for suggesting we get the biscuit sandwich over the B&Gs. BTW, I didn't feel the least bit guilty about our decadent brunch as we walked another 8,331 miles on our way back home. Now THAT'S how you get it done!

    Jalapeno Bacon. What?!

I love that they have really bad for you, but-oh-so good options while also having really healthy, but oh-so-tasty options, too. The portions are big enough that you will probably take some home, if you can stop eating, that is. The wait can be long on a weekend, but really anywhere you go will be and you can stand around drinking some coffee while you wait with a big enough space that there is little chance of feeling like the walls are caving in.

Fresh tasting food, a little on the high $ide. I had the tuna melt w asparagus soup - I am 205 lb dude so I can eat but the meal was just enough so I wasn't hungry nor full.
Taste was great and fresh like I said - the breakfast burritos are what I really go there for mostly. Overall very good. If you have a sweet tooth definitely go to Bacon & Eggs.

The decor and atmosphere of Bakin' & Eggs reminds me of those cute images you see in pintrist that you always say "Aww that's such a cute idea"- except the owners took all those great ideas and combined them for a fun and fresh restaurant. The menu comes out on a clipboard, the check on a clothespin. It's just got personality! Perfect for a date.

I got a chorizo frittata with bacon and home fries for next to nothing. It was such an amazing value and the food was great. I was extremely pleased.

The greatest part is that the wait staff was on top of everything- as soon as I finished my coffee, someone was there to fill it up! I'd return again.

I have yet to find an amazing breakfast joint in Chicago. Thought I had found it in Jam, but then their consistency went downhill, big time. Bakin' and Eggs was just ok. To wait over an hour for "just ok" doesn't do it for me...I'm looking for eggs that aren't overcooked (why is this so hard?!), crispy but not burnt bacon, moist biscuits...didn't find any of that here.

I keep ordering the same things- the bacon (which they are known for- 5 flavors, all amazing) and an omelet.  I once tried the cheese grits but haven't been able to order them since because I DEVOURED them and felt too much guilt to ever try them again. But WOW- they're amazing. A must try.

I absolutely love their food! Not the cheapest, but it's a kitchy cafe and you get what you pay for- great, fresh food.

Expect long waits during brunch on the weekends, though! It's worth the wait...

Go early or at off times, this place can get very busy, service can be slow as well. The Frittatas are excellent and they serve one of the best tasting waffles around. The ambiance is...loud as it is a fairly big room, especially on the weekends.

I bought the Groupon for Bakin & Eggs with a plan to secretly walk here one morning and pick up an order of breakfast and some pastries to enjoy by myself.

But .... one Saturday night, my grumpy boyfriend asked: "so what's for breakfast tomorrow?" I normally would say nothing, but knowing he was grumpy, I had to satisfy my groupon.

We got there at 10 am on a Sunday and already there were lots of people outside. The wait was 30 minutes. Ahh, i was hoping for something less, but again, for a popular brunch spot, the wait was unavoidable. Luckily they have self-served coffee (intelligentsia) so you can enjoy that while waiting. Great idea, because I had 2 cups before I even sat down to my table (you're supposed to bring your cup to your table and server will charge you for it).

Their menu isn't extensive, but have great options. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, toasts are available, but they do have some great alternatives such as the cheese grit, frittata, biscuits and gravy and more. None of the frittata sounds good to me so I decided to go with my normal 2 eggs, bacon and toast with cheese grits. My boyfriend got the caprese frittata.

The food - well..... I enjoyed it. The cheese grit was really good, and their bacon was phenomenon. I ended up breaking the bacon in pieces and eat it with my cheese grit. Toasts and eggs are pretty standard. I tried some house potatoes and I thought it was delicious, but my boyfriend said it was too salty. His frittata was a bit of a disappointment - too cheesy and lack of flavor - mainly the only thing we could taste was the balsamic vinegar. Overall, we weren't crazy about the food. I was more ok with it than my dining partner.

Will I return to Bakin & Eggs? NO ... and here's the reason why:
This place was full of family and babies. While we were underwhelmed by the food, we were overwhelmed by babies - running, touching things, screaming, etc! MADHOUSE!!!!  I have nothing against babies, and I know I was once a crazy one, but it was soooo loud inside we could barely hear each other. I'd say if you have kids, and are used to the noise, go ahead, this place is very kid-friendly. But not for me!

Services were good. My coffee was never empty, which was excellent. Server wasn't very personal, but I couldn't blame him - I'd turn to be like that if I work here too! With my $15 groupon, we only paid about 9 bucks (with tips & tax) - not bad! Just keep in mind, if you're looking for a quaint, relaxing way to start your day, avoid this place, or take it to go.

I have been to B & E quite a few times.  I would likely have to give it 4 stars...until today!  Had a great brunch with 5 other friends.

Great fritatas, french toast, and bacon(obviously) here.  I think the food tastes great, and you can find something on the menu that suits your brunch needs.  Never too greasy, ad always tasty.

Today the service was great, and always friendly.  I see a lot of posts on Yelp about the slow service.  I think this has happened a couple of times, but it has never been too bad that anything sticks out that I can remember?

I think the prices might be a little high?  Cari and I had 2 fritatas, and OJ, hot chocolate, and I tried the half order of biscuits and gravy(delish...although the biscuits were a little hard for my taste).  Total bill was like $35.  High for breakfast?

Today, was a pretty awesome day at B & E for the crew.  Every day they award a "Grand Prize" to one table.  WE WON!  We won one of their fantastic cherry pies, and I just finished 1/2 of it with my roommate.  So...that is why I have to give it 5 stars.  Pretty cool, pretty tasty!

Ever have that feeling like you just ordered, the wrong thing. Then you're angry and jealous of the others around you making their stupid MMm's and Ahh's. I hate it when I can't make those sounds! I even tried to force it, my MMm's and Ahh's came out nice but my face was cringed and my eyes were squinted. The lady next to me asked if I was ok, but then turned away weirded out when I gave her a uh huh with a mouth full and another strange face.

The restaurant is bright and shiny with sunlight from the large front windows. It's like WAKE UP it's brunch time!! It's super clean and the staff seemed friendly enough. What is really nice about B&E is that if there is a wait you can either take an open seat at the breakfast bar and have your meal or you can grab a coffee/ pastry at the front counter while you wait for a normal table. It was packed so we sat at the bar. It was fine, I got to watch this guy make near 100 coffees with the fancy machine.

I ordered the biscuit sandwich -bacon + eggs you way (over easy) + aged cheddar + sausage gravy. Sounds good right?! Not really the gravy was funky, the biscuit was some kind of multi-grain which is fine but it didn't taste right with the rest of my meal. Bacon was nice along with the over easy egg but overall it just didn't work. Side of house potatoes which I like mine a little more crispy but the seasoning is fantastic. Although this one sandwich didn't work for me I will be back to try something else.

***FYI- I'm still looking for a place that will deliver my brunch to me in bed!

I would give them 2.5 stars.  Went here for Sunday breakfast, had good service, mediocre food.  To me, the food is very over seasoned and overly spiced.  Don't get me wrong, I do like spicy food (done correctly) but I do not like it when spice is just thrown in there to cover up bland and flavorless food.

I ordered the BLT with scrambled egg.  It is a great concept but the eggs themselves were not seasoned properly and the bread was soggy.  The bacon on the sandwich was good, I think maple, and was cooked well.  A mayo spread did make the sandwich decadent but again, was used to cover up an otherwise bland tasting sandwich.  I got the potatoes with parmesan cheese on top, again waaayyyyy overly seasoned with pepper and other unidentifiable herbs.  The potatoes could have been great with the just right amount of salt and pepper, cooked correctly and then just left alone.  I didn't really eat the potatoes.

My husband had the buttermilk pancakes.  He will pretty much eat and enjoy anything.  When we left he said  "the pancakes were not very  good, I don't get that place".

But our waiter was perfect!  Very polite and attentive, he was always refilling our coffee and did help make it an enjoyable brunch!  Besides the food, this place is great :-).
