    Tasty donuts.

What else could you ask for in a donut bakery?

I've been here many times for a donut or two and they are my favorite in the city.  The couple who works there is very courteous.  They have a wide selection of all the standard donuts (nothing weird) in addition to breakfast biscuits/croissants and kolaches.

The storefront is a little rundown, but the interior is clean and well kept.

Whoa. This unassuming place is completely awesome. I had heard rumors of these delicious kolaches to be found in the Heights but I had never actually spotted this before even though I have driven by it before many times. Since I was far from my Kolache Factory in the Tunnels today I had to look elsewhere - so I made sure I knew where I was going for my kolache fix.

This place is kind of hard to find if you don't know exactly what you are looking for - or you don't spend much time in the Heights. If you take Waugh north from Montrose and turn left on 11th: it is on the right side of the street with its own parking lot out front. The red little steeple thing is easily missed because of the huge Popeyes sign just a bit further ahead. If you hit Durham (or T.C. Jester) then you have gone way too far. If you are at the Kroger's strip mall then you went way too far. It is across 11th from the Dragon Bowl cafe strip mall. Hopefully that helps find it.

This is an old school bakery like you would expect to find in a small town in the 1970s. It is really neat to mosey on in here hungry, just like taking a delicious voyage to the distant (not so distant?) past.

The woman working the counter was super helpful, friendly, and nice. She even asked how far I was driving to determine how much she should heat the kolaches up so they would still be warm when I got there. That is some good customer service.

The jalapeno sausage kolache absolutely obliterates the competition at Christy's in Montrose. Everything Christy's does wrong: Bakery Donuts does amazingly well. The bread is soft, moist, and squishy. So squishy that I want to call it Squishy and have it be my squishy. The jalapeno is just sitting there like a gangster, being mobbed by the cheese, which is appropriate in ratio to the bread and jalapeno, and there is actually some noticeable jalapeno to be found inside. This is one of the best kolaches I have had, Hill Country included.

Half a dozen kolaches runs you $7.99 and is well worth every penny.

Speaking of that chimerical half marathon I planned on (per my Luke's Locker review below), the jalapeño kolaches are worth donating at least a kidney for. These donuts are simply delicious. I've only had the donut holes and chocolate ones...but they were delicious. I'll have to see of they have Christy's blueberry cake donut but yowzers, you guys.

    Plus breakfast biscuits. Oh my.

As with most independent donut shops, this place looks really sketchy, but is fantastic if you stick to what they do well: kolaches.

Most pastries are good, the chocolate covered donuts are great, muffins are really good, the croissant sandwiches are a bit far reaching and not very good.

But the kolaches are about as perfect as they can be. I usually mix it up with a combo of sausage and cheese kolaches, and jalapeno kolaches to get my day stated just right. And if you are planning on eating them in the car, when they ask if you want them heated up, reply with an emphatic "yes please". The huge, fluffy, buttery, dough that cradles the sausage is proof that god loves us.

If you hate kolahces, the other stuff is good, but if you appreciate an unpretentious, no-frills kolache, look no further than this humble Filipino family owned outpost,  the Bakery Donut on 11th.

This place is two blocks from my house and I love going there in the mornings for kolaches and breakfast croissants.  The donuts are very good as well, but the sausage and cheese kolache is fantastic.

Everything is fresh and the family that owns it is VERY nice.  They are always friendly and like to talk with you when you come in.

    I'm glad I live nearby.

"Bakery Donut - Fresh Bake Daily" - the lack of concern for grammar on the sign out front tells you the proprietors are more focused on their delicious donuts, kolaches, croissants, and breakfast sandwiches. The donuts are soft and pillowy, the old-fashioned are thick and rich, and the kolaches, part of any Texan's complete breakfast, are hot and fresh. Particularly good are the breakfast sandwiches either on biscuits or croissants, with bacon, egg, cheese and a sausage patty. The phrase "like a kid in a candy store" may be trite, hackneyed, banal, and clichéd, but with my nose pressed against the glass before walking out with a sack full of breakfast pastries, there's little else to be said. Now, if this place don't get you moving in the morning, you may need some smelling salts and a defibrillator.

This place is delicious.  I almost hate driving by it every morning--it is so tempting to stop for one of their many breakfast items.  When I am not in the mood for sweets, I usually grab a large coffee and a breakfast taco.  They are really good for a donut shop!  The kolaches are the best in town, as other reviewers have noted.  The apple fritter is gargantuan in size and taste.  The owners are extremely nice, and they will strike up conversation with you (if the place isn't tooo busy).  The main reason I keep coming back to this place is not their delicious food. It is the owners. I just love talking with them whenever I stop by.  Do yourself a favor and visit this place!

A great local donut shop. I only tried the regular and chocolate glazed...that's always my introductory test. Solid quality and probably the fluffiest donuts I've ever had. Which may be a bad thing as they didn't fill me up and could have easily eaten 2 dozen;) The couple that runs the shop are super nice. They had a great selection and were fully stocked. It took a lot of will power to walk out with only 4 donuts. I can't to go back.
