    I love Bakers Square!

I love, love, love their Honey Dijon Chicken Focaccia! I have dreams about this sandwich! It has grilled chicken breast, Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions served with honey mustard sauce on warm focaccia bread. Delish!

I like to order the sandwich with the Pie Shop Special, which gives you the choice between soup or salad and your choice of pie. Last time I was there, I got the Pie Shop Special with Chicken Noodle Soup and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup pie. The soup is OK, but the pie is AMAZING!

This Wilmette Bakers Square was pretty crowded when we were there. Its clientele was pretty much ALL old people. It was Father's Day weekend, so maybe that had something to do with it, but it was basically packed with old people. There's nothing wrong with old people--they have to eat too--but I just thought I would mention that.

Overall, I love Bakers Square. The Honey Dijon Chicken Focaccia is delicious, their pie is delicious--it's definitely a great place to go for a bite to eat.

I was so glad to go back to a Baker's Square!  It had been a few years.  And it was better than ever.  The menu is improved with more contemporary choices and still the pie we all wanna shove in our face.
I got what I always get there, the honey dijon chicken focaccia sandwich (super delish).  I didnt get pie this time, cuz I was on lunch, but I did dream about it as I flipped through the table top pie menu.
Lots of old timers inside this place.  Which is awesome.

Just went there while on break from work so I can have some pie. When I walked in there were no more than two tables seated which would tell you this place isn't really popular. I got sat, the waitress seemed to be on que with my drink order but as soon as I told her I need a minute to decide on a slice of pie she disappeared for fifteen minutes - literally. When she came back she excused herself by saying, "I'm so sorry I totally forgot about you guys." I mean....... really? At least start a conversation with us so we can forget about your lateness, we're waiters too we understand..... Regardless I don't plan to go back any time soon, Bakers Square lost its passion for pies, it's a dying business.

When you want to face your own mortality while eating some pie, this is the place for you!

Where else can a forty-something eat out and be at least 35 years younger than every other customer in the place?

I counted 8 walkers, 3 oxygen tanks, 4 canes and about 12 folks with their own personal caretakers, and that was in the course of a 45 minute lunch. I take my 97 year old grandma there every 2 weeks for pie (she looks better than 97% of the patrons BTW), and she loves the place!

The service is MEH, the food is even MEH-ier but the ambiance......whoo-hoo! You don't need no stinkin' teeth to eat those pies, either! Maybe that's the attraction for this particular demographic......

When I want to feel frisky, perky, youthful and damn glad I am not yet a member of AARP, I head to Baker's Square, without assistance.

Brunch snobs be gone! I love me some Baker's Square!

Their delicious breakfast skillets must blind me to all of their flaws (yes, there are flaws, hence the 4-not-5 star rating). Mmm, my favorite item: the hickory skillet with tomatoes instead of onions. Eggs, potatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon, and diced tomatoes all mixed together into a beautiful meld of deliciousness. Put some tabasco sauce on top and some ketchup on the side and you're good as gold.

Last but not least, it's cliche but true: Come for the food, stay for the pie! I like the brownie a la mode (no, it's not pie, but i can forgive it its faults in the name of hot fudge).

Avoid the rest of the menu, stick to breakfast and pie. Mmmm, breakfast and pie..... skillets and pie...... I'm getting in my car right now.

"Dependable" is the one-word review. Pretty much like the diners of yore, you could step into another franchise outlet of Bakers Square and never go wrong. Even though their dining menu may get spruced up from time to time, you're probably here to get a piece of pie anyway, so unless there's a very unusual disaster, you'll have a good meal as well. Exciting dining it is not. But you know this going in.

We came on a Wednesday, at the stroke of Noon -- big mistake! Wednesday is the current day for "free slice of pie with any meal." So everybody, especially every senior citizen within 5 miles, was already there. A number of elderly ladies were there with their caregivers. So even with their sizable parking lot, not a spot was available (had to park across the street). The wait line was relatively brief (maybe 10 minutes). Overheard an older waiting couple whisper, "We've got to stop coming here on Wednesdays." I just hope they do!

We had the most friendly and attentive waitress you could ask for. Even though I asked another staff person for additional napkins, she was within earshot and told that person that she would get them. And she did. She also made sure we didn't forget to order our free slices of pie. The lunches (hamburger platter, turkey dinner) were very, very good. Good presentations and flavors (and for this crowd, easy on the choppers). Their coffee is excellent. Not much to complain about there.

Their pies are always delicious. If there is some assembly line process by which they are made, you'd never know it (except the crusts are always so well made). I've had "gourmet " pies, and these fare quite well in comparison. Free pie is always good, of course. And on your way out, the pie chest selection is sooo tempting that you might just buy a whole one to take home. Too bad they don't have the pie tin deposit policy anymore. I've still got a few.

Pretty much exactly what you expect. However, half way through our meal we noticed it smelled like a bathroom/urine. Either there was terrible cleanup job after an unfortunate accident or the ventilation system needs a serious correction.

You have to try this month's specialty - white chocolate cherry pie - yum!  Other than that, Bakers Square is a pretty typical chain restuarant - the food is decent (wavering on the poor side) and service is always really friendly here.  Parking is never a problem and it never gets terribly crowded.  But the pies here are what draw people here.  I remember stopping by as a kid and picking out our favorites as we'd go home and eat it and try to duplicate that same pie.  Same of my favs include Caramel Apple  la Mode, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Custard, French Apple Cream Cheese, and Strawberry Rhubarb pie

Edit: Service is now considered mediocre considering my last experience here.  (See my review for the Bakers Square in Andersonville) - I was talking about Bakers Square with a friend and it's definately catering more and more to an older crowd and starting to go downhill as a chain.

Everybody knows their pies are awesome so I will not spend too much time rating that since that is actually not why I am rating this. However, their French Silk, Banana Cream, and Apple pies are my favorites that I order for every family holiday at least.

Did you ever try their food though? I now found a favorite I will definitely go back to order again! Chicken Avocado Melt Sandwich. It's got swiss cheese, avocado, sauteed mushrooms, chicken, grilled buttery toast, SOUR CREAM!? It's actually YUM! Great combination. Their fries are actually good too. I like simple juicy sandwiches. My 1 year old son enjoyed it as well!

Expensive and ssslllooowwww wait staff. This was a Saturday morning when we went with six people. We got in very early (8 AM I think it was) and the wait staff was moving like they were stuck in molasses. The food took forever....there were only 5 or so tables in the whole place!

I won't be stopping in here again.

I feel too young to appreciate this place as much as I do. I literally come here with a friend of mine who also relishes in cutting out coupons (often for 20% off our bill) from the Sunday paper and planning a lunch or dinner date to catch up with an old friend. What I'm trying to say is that this place attracts an older crowd, but I think it's because these people know good value.

The menu has a fair selection, but I especially recommend the pie shop special. It comes with soup, salad warm cornbread, and a slice of pie, of course, at the end. I personally prefer fruit pies like the strawberry rhubarb or triple berry, but I've heard the French Silk is good, if that's your thing.

I grew up going to Baker's Square Restuarant's, but this is one of the few I know that is still going strong. I recommend this place for all ages, as long as you appreciate pie.

I like this place. Prices are very reasonable, customer service is great, and food is always tasty and consistent.

Omelets are never too greasy, and come with crisp hash browns.

Pies are always my favorite here! Definitely worth checking out!

My friend and I go there when we have nothing to do or we need to talk. There is no pressure to get a complete meal, if you just want coffee and/or pie. The servers don't rush you and are super nice.

I always get a hot fudge sundae there, even though it's not on the menu.

You don't come here for food (well unless it's dessert), you come here for company.

I have not been here for a meal in several years. It was a Sunday afternoon and feeling adventurous, we decided to give Baker's Square a try.

My wife and I decided on breakfast and we both ordered omlettes. I would rate my sausage omlette as "good." It came with hash browns and an english muffin.

Our server was pleasant and attentive. The parking lot has ample parking and access is good.

This might not be a favorite place, but I'll probably be back within the next few months.

    Their pie is always excellent.

Believe it or not Baker's Square is one of my favorite places for a sandwich.  I have always ordered the Chicken Avocado Melt, even when I was a little tyke.  There was a short time in history when they took it off the menu, in which I panicked, but Baker's Square was always nice enough to still make the sandwich for me.  Perhaps I even think that they brought it back on the menu just for me.  It really is a good sandwich, the fries are seasoned and the franchise has some of the best honey mustard there is.

Ultra slow service and long waits for tables. Typical teenage hangout. We often come here for appetizers and desserts. It does its job for a chain restaurant.

While their restaurant portion is disgusting (burgers, brunch-style items, and everything else), their pies, on the other hand, is pretty tootin' darn good.  I love their Banana Cream pie - it is not overly filled with cream, but just the right ratio of the banana slices and the cream in a nice pie crust.  It is absolutely divine, and not that sweet - very rich and creamy.  Their Oreo pie is also great, and may be a great find for Oreo lovers, since it reminds me of a Cookies n' Cream, but pie-form.  I'm sure their other pies are delectable, and it's great to order these babies when your work or school offers discounts through them.

Pick Three (half beef w/cheddar,lettuce,tomato slice; cup of soup or a salad; and a slice of a fruit-pie) and an "always filled" glass of water is ten dollars with the tip.   Wonderful way to go !

I went here once for dinner and did not enjoy it at all. This place is really good for their dessert, but the main course was pretty blah. I ordered a veggie pita and it tasted very bland. But the pie I picked up to take home was so good. The French Silk pie here is the best ever.
