Review from Diane O.
Gardnerville, NV
My husband has always loved Bakers, and until recently it was just ok to me. They have revamped their menu in the last year, adding some great new items and keeping some old favorites. The change has been good, and after trying the crab ravioli, I'm impressed. Prices are very reasonable, and the food is good.

Review from Jesse A.

Our Nacho appetizer was good. As for the steak our server didn't know if it was pan seared or seasoned. Not that it is a big deal, but maybe they should try or observe how the food is made. A good steak doesn't need A1 and this one did. It lacked flavor but was cooked right and a decent Ribeye cut. My Fiance said her salad was very fresh and tasty. Her Filet Mignon was also lacking in the taste department.
Note to the cook staff: Take note of how an Outback steak tastes and come up with a good seasoning pack.
We will eat here again just not the steak! -

Good food, cheap. Try the burgers, fried chicken, or chicken and dumplings.

History
Established in 1958
Baker's Restaurant was originally a small country store called the Milk Bar which had about 10 stools at the counter and a couple of tables. In 1958, The Milk Bar was purchased by Tom and Sallie Baker where they served breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as bread, milk and soda. Soon all the hard work and devotion paid off for Tom and Sallie and they had to add to the restaurant to accommodate the growing number of locals that frequented the Milk Bar. A second addition was added in 1968 and at this time Sallie changed the name to Baker's Restaurant which has become one of Cecil County's landmarks.
In 1972, Tom and Sallie sold the restaurant to their son and daughter-in-law, Tucker and Barbara Matthews who became the second generation to own the restaurant. After 21 years, the Matthews sold the restaurant to their son Robert, who along with his wife Wendy, have continued the family tradition of offering home style cooked meals at reasonable prices.
Meet the Business Owner: Robert M.
I started working at Baker's when I was twelve and have grown up in the foodservice industry all my life. I attended Hodgson Vo Tech for two years prior to graduating, however 95% of my training came from "on the job". I am the third generation of Baker's which was started by Tom & Sallie Baker ( my grandparents) then to Tucker and Barbara Matthews ( my parents) now on to me who along with my wife Wendy are commited to keeping the family tradition of good food at reasonable prices in a warm friendly, family type atmosphere
