Absolutely love Baker's...a nostalgic, greasy-burger and tots place. Their menu has PLENTY to choose from (even healthier items!), including fried pies and some of the best sweet tea ever. Not to mention, they're not as expensive as many burger places in the northern metroplex.
We typically order their cheeseburgers, a big order of tots and sweet tea. We've also had their chili-smothered items, onion rings, fried pies, fried jalapenos, chicken sandwiches...all of it, great! Thinking Wayne S. is out of his mind (or his co-worker got it back to him cool/cold).
Baker's is a blue-collar joint that would never make it someplace like Frisco. For McKinney, though, this place is iconic! Delicious! -

This is like a mom and pop version of Sonic. SO GOOD! Drive up and order at the window.
There are so many options on the menu. I can't resist ths GIANT chili and cheese tots. I tried the fish sandwich for the first time Monday. Eh, not bad. The burgers are great and anything with the chili and cheese tops my list.
Check it out. You can call in your order and pick it up at the window too. -

After being spoiled by Keller's Drive In, I can't give this place 4 stars, but it's A-Okay in my book.
Pretty good burgers come with mustard, tomato and lettuce. The chili cheese fries are pretty great, a greasy loaded plate of caloric, cheezy tasty yummy goodness!
There's just something extra special about those poppy seed buns and greasy fresh griddle flavor of the burgers at Keller's that just doesn't quite make it through here at Baker's.
Now that I live up this way, I'll have to settle for Baker's since Keller's is too far for me now :-( -

Great old fashioned hamburgers, LOVE the friend pickles. Great place to find half the locals of McKinney. This place is always packed, I just wish there was seating to eat there, but its a great place none the less.

Really great thin patty cheese burger with lettuce and tomato. Fried jalapenos or french fries go well with the burger. Shakes are good too.
Too bad there is no place to sit; this place is take out only. But if
you want a burger place that is swamped by the locals, this is it.
Nothing pretentious, this place has been here doing the same thing
for a long time. -

This is one of those rare small town burger joints that seems transplanted by a time machine from 1955 into modern day. The food is good, and it's fun for a change.

All of you burger hunters (i.e. Glenn), it may be worth it, if you can find it in your gas tank to make the trek to McKinney for a burger. This is your typical small town, drive-up, order at a window and eat in your car kind of joint. The burgers are old school and delicious. The tator tots are also great and large enough to share. That is exactly what my co-worker and I did. The single patty burger is plenty for me, but some might consider it small. I am pretty sure these are griddled burgers, so the patties are nice and thin. The bun is perfectly toasted and the flavor is tasty. Our other co-workers munched on the double cheeseburger, fries, shakes and fried pies. Oh, to be a man and not worry about those stinking calories.

Well somebody brought me back some takeout from thinking that since it's one of the few hole in the walls in McKinney that it has to be good. Meh. I had the chili burger and fries. It was kind of mediocre all the way around. It wasn't bad, but it's not like I'm craving it now nor do I plan on having it again. The chili was just ok, The hamburger pattie was just ok. The bun was just ok. The pickle was a little more than ok.
If I'm hungry and this place is in my sight, nothing else is in sight, and I'm not craving anything else, then I might grab something to eat from here again. Maybe just a plain burger that time.
As for what I compare all chili burgers to: http://www.yelp.com/bi.... -

This one brings back memories of my childhood. The burgers, dogs and corn dogs are excellent. For those of you who want something different, they have a deep fried bologna sandwich. ummm good! No tables, either eat in the car or take it home. One gotcha, on the Texas chili cheeseburger, they put lettuce and tomato on it with the chile. I ask to leave it off and they are large and delicious.
