Greenpoint Ave (G)
It would be nice if they could open on the time that is posted on the door. I pick up bagels on the way to work and I have been at there door at 640 and the hours say they are open at 6. There was somebody by the counter and when I knocked they just shook their head no and would not open the door. Once ok but twice is too many. I found I nice bagel store on Metropolitan just passed grahm which is open every morning and has better service.
Great bagels, but make sure to double check your order. The staff of teenagers cares little about your food. They messed up all 3 orders I placed this week. The tofu cream cheese is great tho! Just make sure you get what you order!

Curses on you Baker's Dozen, curses on you! Damn you for being my bad selection for hangover food and for your deceptive specials that only apply if you get plain bagels. Also a curse on your household for taking a good five minutes to get me a cup of shitty soup to go with my shitty bagel. Really? How fucking hard is it? Thanks though for giving me three quarters of the worlds supply of cream cheese along with said bagel. I don't know what I'm going to do with enough cream cheese to cover wisconsin but thanks anyways. OK so I'm in a bad mood and you probably deserve a two stars bud damn, how hard is it to run a reasonable deli that primarily serves bagels and coffee?

If I say "the only truly viable bagels in Greenpoint" people will point to Bagels on the Run (too far north) and the Peter Pan bakery (those are bagels if you're originally from Iowa). We eagerly awaited the opening of Baker's Dozen. It's bittersweet in the end. The bagels are fine, and there's a good selection of spreads (including tofu cheeses). There appears to be a robust coffee selection, and some pastries. The drinks are seriously overpriced, walk to the nearest bodega instead. There are cafe chairs and tables to sit and eat. But the biggest problem is the service. Somehow, the employees of this establishment fail to comprehend that during weekday mornings, people stopping in for food are on their way to work and watching for the B61 out the window. Could we show a little hustle and consideration for this fact?
Also, the height of the counter makes it difficult to communicate as while you tower over us, we still can't really see or hear you.
It's better than nothing, especially during the week, but weekends, we'll still head down to the Bagel Store in Williamsburg.

The service is comically bad; my order was messed up twice in one visit. But the bagels are pretty good. I just don't go there if I am in a rush, or want to order anything slightly complicated.
good bagels. great when you're desperate for a portable cheap lunch. but yeah, they could step on it a bit. also--have a hard time being graceful about paying--awkward layout to the whole bit. at least they have tables!
