Hattiesburg, MS
Great burgers! Great fries! Great buns! I recommend the jalapeno-cheddar bun/bread. The andouille sausage dog is fantastic.
All signs point to this being a local establishment, which is surprising considering how well put together it is. That is a compliment, it's clean and polished- very comfortable.
$.99 PBR draft, a great place to eat before a Southern Miss home football game.
They also have malt vinegar for their fries, which, if your anything like me is the icing on the cake!
Highly recommend. -

I have to give this place 4 starts because I was a bit put off by the amount of mustard on my burger, but overall it is a really good place. I will probably make it a mandatory stop for Hattiesburg from here on out.
Baker's Burger. Hub City. 49 at Hardy.
Good stuff. They bake the buns fresh. Fries like 5-guys. Fresh cookies.
.99 draft

The best hot dog I've ever had. I was on a Bakers Burger kick, I was going everyday and so much gained weight I had to back off.. If that wasn't the case, i swear they could survive off my business alone. I've been to five guys, it doesn't touch Bakers Burger.
you can't get beer at 5 guys
you can't get cole slaw and chili on your burger/dogs at 5 guys
The atmosphere at Bakers is incredible, and you've never had a good hot dog/burger until you've been here.
If this place were anywhere else, it would be getting rave reviews. -

Found this place via Yelp on a roadtrip through Hattiesburg and it was so good and delicious! I wanted to eat through the whole menu but alas that won't happen unless I drive through Hattiesburg again.
I got a black and blue burger with fries and some of the little pies as road snacks for the car. The burger was great and there was plenty of blue cheese on it to make anybody happy. I like that they bake their bread daily in-house too. Knocked off a star because while the meat was good, I've had better. I loved the toppings best and the fries, while freshcut and good, again, I've had better. I didn't get it, but the jalapeno-cheddar buns looked really good.
To the comparisons to Five Guys and In-n-Out. I wholeheartedly disagree. Neither of those other two have the options Bakers has and do either of them bake their own bread? I don't think so. Keep doing what you do, Bakers.
I wish I could take advantage of the $0.99 PBR they have on tap but alas that pesky roadtrip thing got in the way.
We ended up fighting over the lemon icebox mini-pies in the car if that tells you anything.... -

I really love Baker's Burgers. It's similar to the chain Five Guys, but seems much less greasy and has a more polished atmosphere. The buns are freshly baked and the fries are delicious. It is within walking district of the tailgating areas at Southern Miss, so it's a great place to go on game day. Casual atmosphere and friendly service.

Easily one of the best burgers we have ever had. The lemon mini-pies were also a huge hit, as we had to run back across town to get more before heading back to Arkansas.
We will definitely make this stop again anytime we get close to Hattiesburg. -

MAN OH MAN I love this place.
I live outside DC now, and the District just underwent a local-burger-restaurant explosion a year or two ago. There's a great burger joint on every corner. With all these burger shops around, I still think back to the few glorious months I lived in Hattiesburg after Bakers opened.
This place has all the hallmarks of great local fast-food burgers: locally sourced/(crossed-fingers-mostly-organic?) ingredients, cheap bears (or beers, or burrs), tons of seating, and bumpin' food.
Full disclosure: I've only had the black bean burger, but at this point in my vegetarian-hood I've experienced quite a many veggie burgers so its getting to the point where I can use them as a gauge of the quality of a restaurant. The black bean burger is a contender for my favorite. It's got a nice texture that isn't the generic ground soy-protein (read: frozen) blend you find in a lot of veggie burgers. It's messy. It's delicious. It's awesome.
The French fries are deliciously cut and deliciously tasting (grammar?). I hardly eat French fries anymore (those things are expensive up here) but I know a good one when I see/taste it.
Two reviews ago related this place to In-And-Out and Five Guys, which I guess is true in the overall atmosphere maybe, but the care put into each order here is awesome. It's like the Caliente of burgers. And I love me some Caliente.
Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Also: Yelp is not big at all in Mississippi. If this place was in DC/any big city, it would have A MILLION good reviews. A MILLION. -

damn good burger. a guy with us ordered the country fried burger, which i would highly recommend getting if you can handle it. i got the black and bleu burger and it was good. i was expecting a larger patty with the prices, but it was still above average.
and it's very conveniently located right off of hwy 49. -

Great burgers! You can easily customize your burger with several options. Not much here besides burgers and hot dogs, but if that's what you're looking for, try this place! Nice beer options too -- a few shiner brews, including seasonal and some others I haven't heard of. Desserts are great also. They have Graham cracker crust truffle pies -- mini. The lemon one is a close second to key lime pie! Yum! Also very clean with a great ambience. Staff is friendly and helpful, plus they have a military discount.

This place is reminiscent of "In-And-Out" or "Five Guys, Burgers and Fries".
This place serves burgers, hot dogs, and deserts (i.e. lemon icebox pie). Their small burgers are 1/4 lbs., and their regular burgers are 1/2 lbs. A great burger joint in Hattiesburg.
In-And-Out and Five Guys are still better, but there is neither one in Hattiesburg. -

Whoever decided that coleslaw should be on a burger needs to be punched in their face, because I literally spend my entire paycheck on Bakers delicious burgers. The best thing i love to eat there is there key lime pie! I am going to be fat. Until then I will have me a burger with chilli and slaw .

NOT FOR VEGETARIANS or the HEALTH CONSCIOUS! You're only option is a black bean burger that is DEEP FRIED! Sine most vegetarians have chosen their diet because of a desire to be healthy, I do not recommend this place. The fries are alright. You will leave feeling a) nauseous from the grease or b) angry because you chose to be good to your body and are still hungry. My parents who are meat eaters haven't been back since our first time. I think it is just another burger joint and doesn't compare to the Hattiesburg staple, Mugshot's.

My husband and I were passing thru and wanted a good burger . Decided to try here because reviews were so good. Wasn't disappointed. I got the dirty dog hot dog and draft beer . Was great. My husband loved his burger. The atmosphere was not my favorite. Open, light, modern but that's ok .

I have to amend my earlier rating and add another star. 1) I have been informed that Bakers does source hormone/antibiotic free grass fed beef, which is ground into their awesome patties at the restaurant. 2) They have $.99 PBR. This puts Bakers into a class of its own. God bless that burger.

Good but not great. The ingredients are fresh and it shows. My only complaint is the beef doesn't seem to be seasoned too much. Still, it's definitely a good burger.
