Bakeri is cute. Run by a group of ladies in mechanic overalls.

The baked goods are all made on premise and you can smell the fresh dough that they roll in front of your eyes. The mini croissants are delicious. They also make sandwiches with their freshly baked bread. Nice little courtyard in the back with small fountain.

Almost perfect but they don't serve skim milk and that makes their lattes a little heavy...space is also quite limited, particularly at the front tables where one can barely squeeze by and close to the cashier where a woman with a baby almost ran me over.

Otherwise, great espresso and baked goods. Friendly staff. Uniforms are adorable.

Searching for more coffee goodness in the Western edge of Williamsburg, this spot came up on my Yelp radar, so I made a beeline to their door.  Hipster laptop jockeys out front, and wall to wall girl talk inside, the place makes a super cute cafe.  Very small with a couple tables in front and a long table along the side.

My espresso came out in a shot glass, which I liked.  Cool touch, but the flavor was a touch on the burnt side.  Trouble with the grinder?  I dunno.  The place seemed more like a fabulous decor + awesome food type cafe, rather than a third wave outpost that I was looking for.  Still it's worth a stop back anytime.  You're just a couple of blocks from the new Wythe Hotel.

Ok.. So I will share you guys my secret. This is one of my favorite cafes.. DUN DUN DUN

It's tiny, especially in the winter because it's too cold to sit at the tables outside in the front, or the garden in the back with the company of the lil' fishies in the pond. Inside, there's like three tiny tables and one long communal table, so it gets crowded extremely fast.. But I absolutely love everything about this eensy-weensy charming cafe. You get to see all sorts of characters in here and I never really had a problem with the service. They may not be the cheeriest people working but I never found them rude.

There's no internet here, which is a plus for me personally because I never get anything done with it around. Bakeri makes a great little coffice and it doesn't hurt that they serve their lattes in large, beautiful BOWLS.

They make some fantastic pastries here. My favorite has got to be the apple cider flower. It's a sweet little cake shaped like a flower. It's just fun to eat.

Kudos, Bakeri. I like your style.

I heard this cute little bakery from a friend who living in Williamsburg. When I came into the place, I can smell the freshly baked pastries from the shelf. They all look nice, and hard to choose. I got a mini croissant. It's flaky outside and also really soft, I didn't expect that since it is a mini one. I thought it would be hard to bake it into a flaky way. I also had a ice latte, it was not impressive. This place is really a good place to read, they have a little garden in the back. I was really exciting when i found it, but it is in a mess. Too many tables in the garden, they need to put them in order and maybe move one or two out of it. That will be more comfortable. I will visit again for sure to try out all the bake goods!

Since moving to Brooklyn, I am addicted to this place.  The coffee is excellent, and they have a wide range of freshly made baked goods every morning.  Come early in the morning or even in the afternoon evening to avoid the typical breakfast crowds.  Wait times for to-go food and drink are not unbearable even during the highest traffic, but you may not be able to find a seat.  I am docking Bakeri one star for their prices.  Their baked goods and coffees are relatively small for the prices.  The standard price in Brooklyn for a latte or cappuccino at any shop is $3.50, but you get a much smaller size at Bakeri than some of their competitors.  That being said, their coffee is better and I think worth the extra money.

My last post was flagged and removed for being brutally honest about this establishment. Perhaps I'll use different words this time.

Bakeri, your interior is a beauty but your staff, food and overall energy needs a severe make over. Or you can go the cheaper route and take the sticks out of you know who from you know where.

For those giving this place 5 stars, you are part of that new breed that brings a single indian tear to my eye. Shame.

If I were ever to be imprudent enough to get a lower back tattoo - which I would never do anyway, but this view was reinforced by the mind-searing image of a chubby old dude with one on the beach in Far Rockaway recently - the tattoo would probably just read in big bold letters "TOO DAMN PICKY."

AKA I know what I like.  And I certainly know that I like my pastries and baked goods more in the light, buttery French patisserie style.

So Margot in Williamsburg with its almond croissant and pain au chocolat is mind-blowingly awesome to me.  The light, elegant texture and Last Tango In Paris-levels of butter there send me in to apoplexy.  The good kind.

So Bakeri, a few minutes away on Wythe, has stiff competition.  But I was willing to give them a chance.

It is a nice, clean small bakery with a perfect old New York cafe vibe.  The staff is friendly, sweet, and non-pretentious.  So I could see going there for coffee or to write for a little bit no matter how the food was.

And how was the food?  Umm...

We got three different items - a chocolate chip hazelnut cookie, the apple cider flower roll, and the chocolate roll - a good variety.  Yet I ended up taking no more than a bite or two of each.

Not because they were super-yucky or anything.  They were fine.  But they were not made with any finesse.  I'm cool with the style being different than what I like, but even with that filter, the food felt a little rudderless.

Am I a Bakeri - hater?   No way.  The place is a-ok.  It's just not all that  inspired.  Not a place to avoid, for sure.  But with the siren song of Margo Patisserie only a few short minutes away, I would rather get fat elsewhere.

I'm not a coffee guy, or a coffee shop person.  Rare is it that I want to go into a pastry type place, save for a good loaf of artisan bread to take home.  However a new friend wanted to check this place out as we were nearby, so I obliged with no expectations.

And I have to admit... this place has charm.  It's charmingly small and has a farmhouse/retro NY feel.  It's staffed by an all-female cadre of owners/workers, attired in retro charming garb.  My family is British, so I was happy to have some hot Earl Grey tea, and their selection of baked goods was far from typical... savory or sweet, decadent or simple, a tiny nibble or a meal of bread pudding.

If you admire local businesses who really go out of their way to create a unique experience around a craft they love... this is one of those places.
It ain't Starbucks, which is probably the best compliment one can give.

just sent this to the bakeri. the skole brod (yeasted bread with custard, light frosting and light covering of coconut flakes) today is praise-worthy! kudos to the baker(s)! ---

Eating my skole bread purchased today around 1PM. It   is   so   good.

I've gotten it every time it's available when I go to Bakeri. It's had its ups and downs and I wrote once to ask if it was supposed to be made with under a tablespoon of custard and was a little dry.

Today the custard was plenty, so much to go around, start to finish. And the bread was so well proofed, and very moist and chewy.

    THANK YOU!!!
    Great job to the baker(s)!!

Their cookies are divine! Had not really had anything quite like those elsewhere, I swear. Espresso and earl gray flavor are my favorite. Now I am dying to get their recipe for the cookie ... Two otherworldly cookies plus one amazing coffee for $3.5 dollars?! For a brief moment I thought I was back in Italy ~! Love this place, would definitely come back to try out other things they have. Almost want to move here from Manhattan because of their existence in this charming neighborhood.

The bakeries, the interior, the service, the ambiance... Everything is simply perfect.

Charming, warm, old school atmosphere, absolutely delicious baked goods. It was the middle of the day when I went, so a lot of things were gone but I managed to snag a piece of the apple almond ginger coffee cake and a mini linzer cookie. Both were delicious; the coffee cake was barely sweet (which I prefer to cloying baked goods), adorned with a plentiful amount of apple slices, the occasional crunch from the almonds, and a hint of ginger to balance it all out. Lovely winter afternoon treat with a cup of warm tea. My only gripe was that it was crazy crowded.. luckily, I wasn't planning on eating there. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other baked goodies in the near future (the blueberry almond scone in particular)!

This place is as ideal as it gets.  The environment, the eclectic culinary spin on traditional baked goods, the espresso, the general aesthetic... oh my god.  A garden in the back, little nooks abounding.. it's right out of a storybook.  I don't think there's a more perfect place to sit in all of New York.  Seriously.

Picture it: A balmy summer Friday, circa 2010, in Williamsburg. I had just escaped a painful interview at a restaurant where I endured a kitchen trail (what interviewing for cook's job is, i.e. to spend an entire day making food for free in the hope that one day you will do it for $7/hour...)  without any a/c or fan.
Moral of the story: I needed an iced coffee, stat.

I wandered down Wythe and stumbled into a shop with a royal blue awning. Their biscuits looked scrumptious so I sat down for one and a glorious iced brew. Being normal working hours, I was alone in the shop with the bakers working furiously to my left and the counter girls in their cute blue overall's and doo-rags (yes, doo-rags) to my right. They brought me a sweating pitcher of water and a little glass and when I broke out my pen and paper, I swear I could see hills that looked like little white elephants. It felt as if this was a little Spanish bar in the dry heat  of Barcelona rather than a hip bakery in the urban jungle of Brooklyn.

I didn't see a sign when I left and felt as if it was a dazed mirage I had made up. Every time I stumbled around over the next year, I seemed to simply miss it because when I walked by last Sunday, waiting for a friend and once again, seeking refuge with an iced cold coffee from the heated streets, there appeared Bakeri, waiting for me like an old dream.

(Actual review: awesome Iced coffee; the potato leek tart is the perfect pastry dough topped with a melody of the quiche (egg) filling and crispy leeks; anything carb-loaded is to die for; free pitcher of water, that tastes better than most tap, is perfection on hot summer days)

i try to stay away from writing reviews but after this place, it's more than necessary.

if there were a lower rating than one star, it'd be up in a hot second. unlike the food, which takes it's sweet time. don't get me wrong, the food is just dandy.. most of the time.

the service, needs more than a little work. would it really kill you to be nice to your customers? it seems like the ladies here have a real problem being nice to well anyone. no eye contact, everything is a task (ahem, it's your job by the way, if you don't like taking simple requests maybe you shouldn't work in the industry), and the response "whatever" does not fly. why are you even working in the service industry? perhaps you didn't realize that the service industry means dealing with people. if you hate your job don't take it out on the customers. the staff here seems like they're all at least of age, maybe it wouldn't hurt to act like it.
however if you're an attractive guy, you've got nothing to worry about. they were more than pleased to help the attractive young man in front of me - smiles and all.
i'm not unkind and especially wasn't while i was here (a big deal at the agency went through prior to stopping in, should put a smile on anyone's face), but it seemed like even ordering was asking too much. maybe i should've asked him to order for me.

Coffee (americano only) is okay, perhaps overrated.

Baked goods are SUPREME. So are the sandwiches.

Shop is cute and tiny, like your aunt's kitchen. Great to sit down and enjoy your coffee, but not to bring your laptop or really enjoy a sitdown with a couple of friends. That's the only thing holding this place back.

I'm truly disappointed by this place... I really love the coffee there, and the ALT sandwich is pretty tasty, but that's not the issue here.
My issue is with the girls who work there. There is a strange vibe in the place, not a warm and welcoming one that should be expected, especially in a small and cozy place like that. The atmosphere there is not good at all, and that's something that just an honest smile and a little courtesy would change in an instant... But most of the girls that work there are just unpleasant, sorry to say. I asked to add an hard boiled egg to my sandwich, and I could tell that they weren't pleased about my "exaggerated" request. But they did it, and they charged for it - a 1.5 extra. I can live with that, not a problem. THEN, the next time I came and asked for the same thing, I got this frustration look from the girl at the counter (again) who then asked the girl making the sandwiches if she wants to put the egg on the sandwich or on the side... And the girl quickly said she can only put the egg on the side, cause she doesn't have time to do otherwise. Pretty insulting considering the fact I go there like 2-4 times a week. Now, sadly, they just made me want to go there 1-2 times... a year. Thanks a lot girls!

Bakeri really knows what they're doing with their decor. The interior is truly adorable. Every furniture fits perfectly with the cozy, warm atmosphere they have going on. I especially liked the cabinet they have behind the counter.

I walked in here hoping to get a vanilla chai latte, but, like most places in the neighborhood, they didn't have flavor shots. So, I decided to look at the food they had out on display. Nothing especially appealed to me, but that might be because everything looked overpriced. I did not get anything, but maybe next time I will have a better appetite and a greater craving for their food, enough to justify the costs.

I did really enjoy the fact that you can see the workers cooking in the back.

This is a cute and cozy spot, just off the beaten path. I felt kind of like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall, but the crowd was evidence that everyone in the know certainly knows about this place. There are a few tiny tables, a communal table, and cute benches set up under the awning outside (enclosed for the winter).

The service was efficient and friendly, and I loved that all the staff wore cute scarves around their heads (all different patterns). They took their time to listen to our order to make sure it was correct (e.g., room for milk?) even though there was a line.

We had excellent coffee and cappuccino and a DELICIOUS white chocolate/cranberry cookie, sprinkled with sea salt - fresh from the oven. The sea salt was genius - such a great idea.

They had several other baked goods that included unexpected touches (e.g., chocolate hazelnut cookie with rosemary). I would love to come back to try the small Lavender shortbread cookie for just $1. There were several other small treats for $1-2 as well. Sandwich choices sounded pretty good too.

Downsides: No decaf, to go cups are a little small, a bit frenzied due to the crowd, and on Sunday afternoon, some of the baked goods looked picked over and crumbly

the only problem with this place is that it gets too crowded for it's own good...if i come for a relaxing break and the place is swarming, it turns into a to-go order, which i then regret.

to stay is the ultimate cafe experience.  great baked goods that change daily, sweet decor, ambiance and staff, reasonable prices, healthy food.  staff is friendly, unpretentious and stylish too.

i love sitting at the long communal table watching the breads and sweets go in and out of the oven.

there is a little patio out back for the nice weather and a few seats out front as well.

my favorites are the skole, kale sale and latte.
    i loooove you bakeri

(Thoughts going through my head yesterday at Bakeri.)

God, it's hot. I need some water. This place looks like it has water. Man, it smells delicious in here. Can I have some water, Nice Girl Behind the Counter? Large, of course...look at the size of my hands. Oh, she meant the water. $5? Well...it's too late now. Oh, I see. It's fancy water. Why does it always look more refreshing in a blue bottle? Ahhhhh.

This place is kinda nice. Not packed like every single fucking coffeeshop on Bedford. You almost wouldn't know you're in Williamsburg. Boobs. Holy god, that's a fantastic beard. There goes that theory. The White Album; always a good choice. Except for Revolution #9. Nobody likes that "song." Happiness is a warm gun. I prefer cold water.

Hey Nice Girl Behind the Counter, what should I get for a snack? Oh, you like the fennel roll thingies. Yeah...no. I'll take a piece of that bacon, onion and mozzarella quiche. That's the danger with asking people their opinions; they are often wrong. Go away fly. Quite a small piece for $4. That's what she said? Go away fly. At least it tastes wonderful. Damn you, fly! I hate you.

Stopped over for some morning pastries with a group of friends. The food was phenomenal. I had the date banana bread, and tried my friends' orange brioche, chocolate roll, mini croissant, and spanish tortilla cake (can't remember what it was called exactly). Seriously, everything was fabulous. I'm giving it 3 stars because the woman behind the counter told my friend to "speak up" after she ordered. It was patronizing and off-putting. Otherwise, that date banana bread was something to write home about.

Everything here is yummy. they have a raspberry pistachio muffin that is crunchy on the top and not too sweet. I could eat like 100 of them. you really can't go wrong with any of the food.

they also have more lunch type specials (as opposed to pastries) written on the blackboard when you walk in. I always forget about that and then as I'm walking out I see someone enjoying a delicious soup or sandwich..

The coffee is just ok.. not my favorite in BK...and the seating arrangement in there could be better, but it is for sure a great spot and nice and cozy in the winter.

I recently stopped here with some friends on a trip to New York. In true Williamsburg judgement, we first mocked the spelling of the name and walked right past...later returning when someone in our party needed to stop in a restroom.

After drooling for a few minutes over the overflowing trays of sweets and bread, we finally bought a handful of macaroons and a loaf of Focaccia. After three bites, we purchased 3 more loaves. Basically, this is the best bread ever made of all times in the history of bread. The combination of olive oil, salt, herbs and a little grease made it the ideal snack for our slight hangovers and perfect fuel for the rest of our afternoon. I'd come back one million times, solely to purchase mass quanities of the Focaccia.

This place is OFF THE CHAIN!!  Everything I've tried here as been really good.  Its one of my Billyburg go to spots for a sugary snack or a light lunch/brunch.  The rhubarb/almond cake, the interestingly not very sweet espresso cookie (beware of the caffeine jolt from this one), the vanilla bean custard brioche type bread with a Scandinavian name... everything was so good that my crew decided to sample some of the savory delights.  The grilled gruyere cheese with tomato jam and cool gazpacho hit the spot.

They have a sweet little garden in the back and if you can snag the one table out front some great hipster people watching.

You're lucky if one of the staff gives you a positive tone of voice, a smile means you should play the lottery.

Their quality of product is great, everything I've eaten from there has been really well done, but every time I've gone, I can't help but feel almost awkward with the way the staff interacts.

I've been plenty of times, so at first, I didn't think much of it since I didn't really pay attention, but the more times I went in, I noticed how nobody ever really smiled. Were we that bad?

Besides the staff, which has their good days ,but mostly indifferent attitude, the people who actually have been in there are outrageous.

My friend was waiting in line to go to the bathroom- only one is in the building, he turns and looks at another part of their shop, and as the door opens and he turns back around, some random WILD woman smiles and runs in before him. What kind of animal are you, lady?

I'm now waiting in the same spot as he did, not to go, but since it was crowded, I stood in the 'bathroom line,'  this other woman goes up to the bathroom door, even though she clearly sees me there, and begins to try to open, not just ONCE when she FEELS it's locked, but three times. And then, she waits on the other side, opposite of me, and when he comes out, cuts right into it. Now I didn't have to go, but what if I did? She would have been just like that other weasel.

I guess the staff draws in the same kind of crowd of an indifferent, people-intolerant species.

Bakeri is a cute neighborhood spot that I frequent at least once a week. It's quaint and cozy and their pastries and sandwiches are reliably tasty. I haven't had the drinks here except for the ice tea in the summer which was highly addicting. The food, as long as you don't have high expectations, is decent and enjoyable although there's something off (but not in a foul way) about how they make/the taste of their pastries/breads that I haven't been able to pinpoint yet.  Maybe they don't use as much butter? Is it the flour?

Anyway, Bakeri is very accessible and oddly addicting, in spite of the weird flavor profiles of some of its food items. If you are looking for a cute place to grab lunch or afternoon coffee, Bakeri is definitely your spot.

This is where you stop for lunch between shifts in your perfect, c. 1962 French new wave film life that you need to admit runs through your mind.

The orange brioche--puffy, sturdy bread encapsulating a crunchy candied orange slice--was heavenly. The decor relaxed my eyes--vintage but functional, a flashback to Toulouse in summer. I regretted not getting a coffee, as the take-away cup of the patron ahead of me in line looked really rich & frothy.

Minus one star for bad portion-to-price ratio in a low-traffic area. Will rate again after trying the sit-down sandwich service.

Like some of the other reviewers here, I was very excited about the opening of this place when I heard about it from one of the partners at Sweetwater. The coffee is excellent, since they managed to poach the old barista from El Beit, which is great if you want a take-out.

However, unfortunately, the concept is poorly executed for a few reasons. Firstly, the seating arrangement is awkward and uncomfortable, the high tables/bench tables are narrow and the ceilings are very low, which makes the inside feel somewhat claustrophobic. There is one table outside, but in winter this is not an option. The service and presentation of the food is also poor, and the presentation/overall experience of eating and drinking there makes you feel like they don't really take the "eat-in" experience seriously (I don't even think they can heat your piece of frittata up?).

This is despite the excellent quality of the pastries cookies and savoury goods on offer. Overall unless they fix the eat-in experience, this feels to me like a place I would only really "drop-by" to pick something up before going back to my place to eat. Overall, after a few visits, I feel like the place is neither efficient enough for a quick takeaway coffee, nor comfortable enough to justify a detour from Bedford and sit in for a drink and snack.

Happy as a clam to find a great bakery now that the beloved Cheeks has closed.  Nostalgic wood which is the design de riguer in the "burg"  A tiny open kitchen right in the back of a tiny store.  Their stuff looks pretty great right away.  I thought the prices were pretty low for the quality of the goods.

Had the double chocolate cookie which was rich and delish.  Took away the sour cherry tart over custard which was $4- amazing.  Only critic was a few of the goods could have been more properly darkly baked eg: the kale quiche looked a little pale otherwise "keep baking."

Best baguette in the whole city. Very nice pain au chocolat and croissant, and 5 stars for their Limonade!

I was pretty excited that something opened up in this cute spot. I used to ADORE St. Helen's back in the day. That being said, I was disappointed in the use of the space. They really chopped up the inside and it makes for an uncomfortable seating situation. The pastries looked amazing. The prices are good.
I ordered an iced americano, along with everyone else in the cafe. I was annoyed that they only offer milk to go along with coffee. If you're going to spend the money on an expensive barista station why would you only offer milk? This kind of thing seriously annoys me.

    Would I go back? Ehhh...maybe.

I was really excited about this place and I'm not sure whether my expectations were set too high.

I went in to grab a sandwich for lunch.  I ordered one of the specials from the board.  I paid and grabbed a set.  I waited, and waited, and waited.  Good thing I had work with me. It took forever.  I was really confused why it took so long to slap some ingredients on a roll.

I ordered my sandwich to go, so when I finally got my box, I grabbed it and left.  When I got home, I discovered that it was absolutely TINY.  The meal I received could probably qualify as an appetizer:  2 tiny pieces of bread, open-faced with some tuna slapped on them in an overly lemony, overly oily dressing.  Some arugula leaves were scattered over the top.  For $7!!!

I'm not claiming to talk about the quality of the bakery items (the tarts and cookies looked delicious) and some over commentors have had good experiences with the bread.  But I wouldn't go here for lunch.

Because this place is cute and quaint, it gets one star.
Everything we tried there was just awful.
There was some flavorless, ghostly white, undercooked shortbread "infused" with rosewater. Puke.
    An eggy lemon curd square.
A mysteriously SAVORY bread pudding that was supposed to be sweet.
Also tried a few other things, but can't remember since they were so bad.

Great desserts to go: lemon bar (great balance of sweet/tart), brownie (it wasn't too sweet), only the cocoa nib cookie took me by surprise, because I was thinking it would be a chewier cookie, but was much denser and drier than I thought it was going to be.

Had been wanting to try this spot for awhile and finally did one of these nice spring weekends we have been having.  Got lucky and sat right on the street basking in the sunshine.  My friends and I shared some really good and creative pastries (tortilla, pistaccio cookie) and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

It does feel a bit more like a take-out spot then a sit around and write your novel cafe, but that suits me ok as well.
