Ok, we were in Denver for a week.   I have to say of all the restaurants we visited, this was the best.  I think I could go here every night and the next time I am in Denver, I will.  The food and service were excellent, awesome, wonderful, and the list goes on.

We started with the calamari and it was delicious.  It came with serrano mayo and marinara sauce.  We also had the jalapeno, bacon, macaroni, and cheese bites....wow is all I will say.  So good.

I had the fish and chips, consisting of beer battered Atlantic Cod, seasoned fries, and tartar sauce.

Oh, the pitchers of beer went down well.

Okay, for a Irish themed camp bar this place rocks.

For a place to actually eat anything closely resembling food, I would avoid.  I mean come on, you call yourselves Irish and you give me a Cottage Pie and tell me its a sheperds pie?  What do Shepards do? they don't watch over cattle, maybe rename it cattle pie.

And, i'm guessing, this "sheapards" pie was fried up by Aramark somewhere close to Iowa and shipped in frozen blocks to the restaurant for their microwave + mashed potato mix + kitchen torch.

This is a far more acceptable lunch spot than one for dinner. Dinner seems to attract a crowd I'd just rather not ... it's not my scene. It's never my idea to eat here, always someone else's idea of a good place to meet up and whenever I'm there for dinner it's either packed with this odd frat house crowd or a bunch of aging, drunk, grossly horny, drunk (did I mention drunk?), clad in inappropriate attire, middle class swingers.*

I also don't care for the food and the floor is always very dirty.

*I would like to note that I have absolutely nothing against people fitting the description of any of these things - one at a time. A drunk person is fine. A swinger is fine. Even a person embodying two of these classifications is okay by me. It is the specific mix of all those traits together that makes me feel ill at ease.

I always get talked in to go here, and I never want to go here. It's a "meet in the middle" place for some friends and me. Unfortunately I've been here a few times. A few things I've noticed:

    1) Their beer list is never correct. After I ask what local microbrews they have and the waitress tells me, she comes back saying their out. Seriously, this has happened to me 3 times.

    2) Apparently sororities and fraternities must send the name of this place out in the monthly alumni newsletter. The crowd typically reminds me of the college scene that I'm glad I'm not a part of anymore. I'm sorry I don't want to hear about the sex life of a girl 3 tables over.

    3) The food is not good, not even for bar food.

I will not go back. I'm putting my foot down next time. It's just not worth it, not even close.

I went in the other night looking for a friend and heard, much to my eternal chagrin, some woman screaming out a barrage of 80s tunes.  As if to hurt me.  On purpose.

The crowd was barely prepubescent and super drunk.  Which I ain't gonna lie, can be fun.  But not for me on that Friday night; I just wanted to find my friend and have a bite to eat.  But I couldn't hear.  And it would be a cold day in hell before I found a server.  Or my friend, for that matter.

I've been here before, however and of course, and I have to say the fare is fine enough, filling and good even, with service being (if not on Friday nights when the zombie yuppies congregate) more than decent.  It's a chain, however, which makes me put the sexy panties away, and it's also kind of contrived --- but it's not heartachingly bad.

I guess what I'm saying is try it yourself and see what you think.  I'm not in a rush to go back...but won't be pissed to high heaven if I find myself there due to some odd luck.

    I see cougars.
[In the voice of Haley Joel Osmet from "The Sixth Sense"]

We were with a few friends and not driving, so we were forced to come into this establishment. It was terribly fantastic. If you have an 80's cover band, you can definitely expect to see cougars on the prowl... it's like they get to re-live their glory days! Yes, I mentioned cougars in my previous review of The Tavern. I've come to the conclusion that The Tech Center is the place to be if you're 39-something and looking to bag an investment banker. I have never longed for my dear Colfax as much as I did on Friday night.

FACT: If you want an extreme self-esteem boost, go to Baker Street Pub on a Friday night. At the ripe age of 31, I was the young, hot girl in da' club.

Hubby and I decided to make the best of our situation and order a Baker Street Brown Ale (which was a total shock to the bar tender... poor guy was so used to handing out Bud Lights and making vodka and cranberries all night that he was ecstatic that we ordered an actual beer... on tap!) I have to admit, the beer was quite delicious.

FACT: Baker's Street Pub on a Friday night is pretty fantastic eye candy. Grab a beer, sit back and enjoy the show.

Okay, so originally I wanted to give this place one star. The second star is for the phenomenal people watching. Holy bedazzled Ed Hardy t-shirts, Batman! When the band started their intro to "Don't Stop Believin'" and the crowd fled to the stage to dance, I about peed my pants with laughter! A guy was literally grinding on a support beam in the middle of the dancing area. (Okay, so maybe I danced to one song... when "Mickey" starts playing, it expects you to dance to it.)

I'll probably never come here again (unless, of course, my 41-year-old husband leaves me me for a college girl and my self-esteem hits rock bottom.) Perhaps I'm being unfair. I'm sure stopping in for lunch to have a beer might be a different atmosphere... but then I wouldn't get the awesome eye candy.

Baker Street Pub & Grill - A Haiku

    Claims to be a pub
    Every night is 80s night
    Irish eyes crying.

Maybe its because I grew up in this area of town. Maybe its because I don't long after my days at Cherry Creek High School. Maybe its because I am married and have a son. Maybe its because I no longer feel the need to get pissed and try to fight on a weekly basis. But this place is not for me.

I have been here 5 times now. Every single time the same 80's cover band has been playing. Every single time its crowded with a crowd that I wouldn't describe as friendly. And every single time I leave thinking its a wasted night.

Its just not for me. Well drinks in plastic cups? No thanks. I have refined my tastes. This seems like a place I would have enjoyed in college. But that was 10 years go. As a 30 year old, this place makes me feel creepy and dirty (and I am probably closer to the average age than people want to admit).

I give it 2 stars for being tolerable. It has a nice patio (when its not crowded with smokers huddled around the fires). The service is pretty awful, but the drinks are cheap enough if thats what your are looking for. But hey, maybe its just me. But I have a feeling that if you are reading my Yelp posts, than its not for you either. . .

    Yup.

Been to this location a few times now.  I like it.

I love the awesome beer prices at Happy Hour ($2.75!) and the ALL DAY SUNDAY Happy Hour.  Their beers are nothing to turn your nose up at, either.  Deschutes selections.  Done!

The quality of their Fish n Chips impresses me each time, too.  And I skip the "Fries" version of "Chips" and just get a basket their Housemade Potato Chips.  Paired with their Basket of Fried, Beer Battered Cod... and Jamie's a Happy Girl.

They've also got a Fire Pit outside, surrounded by chairs.  (And aging Hipsters... but hey, you can't have it all.)  And I'm a sucker for Kitsch, so their "British" clutter of bookshelves and, well, Kitsch, inside suits me just fine.  I do like that there is an array of seating, from bar to High-tops, to tables to even a few dark nooks and crannys to snuggle up with your beer or your honey in.

This place does seem to get packed on Friday and Saturday nights.  I tend to skip the crowds and aim for a Sunday night or Mid-Week.

Okay, so happy hour here ROCKS. If you shop wisely at the bar you can get great beers (imported / micro-brew) for under 3 bucks - all the way up to 9pm.

This was a highlight for me and a pleasant surprise (adding a star).

**As other Yelpers have suggested, I too recommend leaving once the crowd gets large. It's brings out the 'push your way to any location' situation that is really not that cool. Being stuck between stinky and/or drunk people with a overly noisy band has its drawbacks - time to go.

But... getting started with good / low priced beer is always a plus. And lets not forget that the DTC has minimal (no) 'real' bar selection...

Apparently, this is the self-proclaimed residence of Sherlock Holmes. And because it is so packed during its Happy Hours and the weekends, it gives the detective enough time to snort ample amounts of coke to feed his vile addiction in the bathroom - while John Watson watches, disapprovingly.

Sometimes he tries to enter the red telephone booth without realizing he's being punk'd by the future. He could care less for the nacho cheese appetizer, but has had his fair share of the fish and chips.

But the worst that happened was when poor Sherlock mistook a Harley Davidson boy as  the Hound of Baskerville. My, my, was that the night to remember.

Baker Street Pub still sucks.  I was writing a review about how much I enjoyed Darcy's across the street which brought me back to Baker Street.  Here's my update on my deep passion for such a terrible establishment.

In addition to what I already wrote a year ago, I wanted to add some more detail to why they have turned me away and off so much.  I have not returned and probably won't.

Happy hour is all they have going for them, I recommend at 9p to LEAVE!!!

After 9pm, everyone is drunk and then Baker Street itself tries to turn against their over served crowd that they made so happy.  They start setting up a blockade or pathway through the middle of the crowd to open up a pathway to the restrooms and bar.  Doesn't really work AT ALL.  But, the bouncers with their Maglight flashlights do everything in their power tripping abilities to keep you from not stopping to talk to someone or even find a place to stand.  It's almost like the "three-second rule" in basketball, you will get an automatic foul for standing in the key and forced to move immediately, with nowhere to go.  But NOT in a nice fashion, more of a rude disrespectful manner.  Not a fun way to enjoy MY night.  At the same time, there are full tables of people sitting down right next to you getting bumped into complaining that you are standing next to their table.

I would compare this to a college house party gone wrong, but everyone is over 35 years old looking for a piece of ass.  I guess this type of environment is appealing?  Not for me.

I'd like to start my review with a review of Bakers Street Pub's parking lot. I arrived here at 4:45 or so on a Friday afternoon for someone's going away party and blocking most of the entry drive was a beer delivery truck. WTF? It's seriously like the busiest time on the busiest day and cars are stuck in a traffic jam because of this thing. If we all had been trying to go in it would have been no big deal, but Bakers Street shares a lot with a school of some sort so parents picking children up were trying to come out. It was a disaster to say the least.

As for the bar itself, it's what you'd expect from a Tech Center place - lots of professionals blowing off steam from the work week through car bombs and co-worker flirtations. Not really my scene, but not terrible to  experience. The one highlight was our waitress. She was pretty spunky and fun and always made sure our drinks were full.

Also they have a pretty phenomenal happy hour. It lasts until 9.

This place seems to be where we always end up after a http://MeetIn.org event in the area. But, for the life of me, I can't understand why. This place is always packed, there's never anywhere to sit, there is usually some mediocre cover band playing, the food is nothing special, parking majorly sucks, the service is slow (they always seem understaffed), but eh, the beer's cheap. The Thursday night $6 pitchers were a good deal.

I have to say that I am more of a dive bar person, so if you are one of the TGIFriday's lovin crowd, you may want to dismiss this review. I just have an extremely hard time seeing the allure of this place. If you add to that the fact that the DTC is a biotch to get to after work on a weekday evening, I have a hard time making it over to Baker Street without some major pushing and shoving from friends.

There have got to be a bunch of better places in the area to patronize. I suggest you try those, first.

Baker St. Pub & Grill is new to the DTC neighborhood and started off as a great place for happy-hour substituting for Darcy's, Cool River or The Great Northern Tavern.  With cheap drinks and a great patio the place has a great atmosphere with dark wood interior and a great menu.  The happy hour can't be beat in the Tech Center with the following times and prices.

Mon-Sat 2pm-9pm and all day Sunday $1.75 Well drinks $1.75 Select Pub Draughts $2.00 House Wine $2.25 Select Call Drinks $6.00 Select Pub Pitchers

That's where the good stuff ends and don't get me wrong there is enough here to help you over look the less than prompt and courteous staff.  Wait staff is pretty much non-existent during happy hour so be sure to order two drinks at a time when you do flag someone down.

Another less than friendly patron warning is the parking.  Happy Hour is getting noticed and with the Montessori school next door you might be walking a bit to get to this joint.  So far in fact that Great Northern or Darcy's might actually be closer.

Like I said the food, atmosphere and cheap drinks are enough to get me past the mediocre at best service and hope Management rectifies the situation here soon.

My four star rating is mostly based on the atmosphere of this place.  It's much larger inside that it looks.  It has a dark library feel.  It has a big outdoor patio area.  It has live music--which in fact is why I visited this venue.  It has video games, a loungey area away from the stage for quiet if you prefer to chat, and a dance floor when the mood hits you.

I'm in a band that played here last night.  We came in during the end of happy hour, which is plenty long, from 2-9!  They have a great selection of beers of which I had Blue Moon and New Castle.  I also had the sliders (mini-burgers).  The burgers were perfectly moist and soft.  Hit the spot as far as bar food is concerned.

The waitstaff was attentive and the bartenders were quick.  The crowd was pretty good for a Thursday night.  Actually if I were single I'd hit this place up a lot.  The guys outnumbered the girls three to one--good looking guys if I might mention.  I'll be back--just look for me on stage.  :-)

My rating.. 3.5.  Give me half stars!!

The crowd was great: diversity between the preps, Blondie's in guess, cubicle decor, and I was just dragged out of my mothers basement at age 42.  People seemed to range from 25-45, though my boys on the night out commented that there were a lot of cougars on the prowl (definition of when a woman becomes a cougar is still up for debate)

Drink specials are ok but I've seen better.  Also with all the "savings" in booze, they still charge full price for all of their food. Personally when I drink I get hungry with no control so this place fell below my standards.  Must say the fish and chips was quite tasty.  The potato skins are nothing but greasy halves with no flavor even with the laden cheese and small cup of sour cream.  The side of mash potatoes are nummers but the main entree of chicken.. well just go to chick-a-fil instead.  Caesar salad... meh.  But I wasn't the one that order this at a supposed Irish pub.

Must give props for the outdoor heaters and bonfire.

The happy hour is really great and goes to nine.  There are several drawbacks to this:

    1. This place is packed with post 9-5ers in the area (myself included), who think this place is the epicenter of great nightlife (myself not included).
    2. The servers get spacy and don't put your drink orders in
    3. Getting scowled at by cougars parked at the bar when you reach over them to grab your drink because if you ordered a drink from the spacy server, you'd wait half an hour.  If you don't like the concept of a bar, don't sit there!

Their food that I've had is halfway decent, including the fish and chips, that is, if you can actually sit down to order.

Good neighborhood pub, I like it here.

My friend and I came in on Friday night just looking for a drink.  There was a live band playing, and we were lucky enough to grab a couple of stools at the bar.  The bartenders were very friendly and attentive, kept an eye on ou drinks and got our food out quickly.  They have more than a few beers on tap.

We ordered some potato skins and popcorn buffalo shrimp.  Good safe bar food choices, and they were both pretty tasty.  The best part of the night was that the bartender put a couple of Washington Apples in front of us just after we paid.  I had closed out the tab but hadn't signed it yet, so she either did it out of the kindness of her heart or my friend was flirting with her alot.  Either way, she got a good tip.

I will say this.  Some jackass was driving through the parking lot like an idiot, and when he got out of the car he was wearing a Baker St shirt.  I later saw him working the door.  I'm not going to ding the place for that, but hopefully he isn't parking cars for the customers.

I give it this score because I loved the people (or should I say "cougar") watching. There were many women in their late 40s-early 50s wearing leopard print, sequins, and mini skirts. The live music was good (a range of 70s til now) and I didn't know about the drink prices til the bill came, but my first vodka-cran was $2....my second was $3.50 so I think prices went up after 9pm on Sat. I had the potato skins which were pretty good (usual pub cuisine).  I had no problem parking which is something I hate about downtown. I'll be back.

Can't beat a bar that almost always has drink specials, cheap food, and live music. It also helps that it is walking distance from my place : )

We go here a lot and its great! Outside there is a huge fire pit and great outdoor eating area. This is great for summer time warm nights!

The bar inside is so big and there is so much stuff on the wall to look at. Seriously! lots. Makes for an awesome game of "i Spy".

Lots of seating and the music is live on Thursdays, Friday and I think Sat., maybe more, but they always have sports on all the TV's for all the football games and other big sports events. Even have a big projector for the big games.

I dig this place- nothing too fancy and the staff is always nice and quick to serve. Plus St. Patricks day and 1/2 way to st. Patricks day is CRAZY fun here.

    Also good for groups!

On Friday nights sometimes Saturday.... you will not get service unless you push through to the bar. Its just insane. We've had actual races to see who will get service first and the bar always wins. Even if you get a table.

Went here for lunch, not drinking the other day. This place was packed! Had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I was so surprised, but now I know why. In an area full of bad, stamp out sandwich and lunch places, It's really the only place to get burgers, fries - you know, the greasy good stuff.

Great pub menu. Had the fish and chips. Was happy they had a lunch-size portion which was still plenty of food. I also loved the fries...had seasoning salt. Yum. Burgers looked fantastic.

This has me thinking...maybe there are some better lunch possibilities in the DTC. And in case you were wondering, there weren't any cougars there at lunch :)

Bakers Street Pub is a relatively new addition to the DTC, off Belleview in the Marina Square center. It's best feature is it's patio (even though it fronts a parking lot). The food is just okay - it's trying for "authentic" British fare (and from my experiences around England, it may be just that), but doesn't offer anything outstanding. The last time I visited, however, I tried their new fish sandwich served with cheese and tarter sauce on a good bun, and liked it. The fish was crispy and cheesy and the bun didn't disintegrate. Service is okay, prices are a bit high - but you would expect that, right? Bakers Street is another place I go mainly because I like their patio.

(Thanks, Danno, for helping me get this to the right place)

I made it in here once again.  Once again, I probably hit about 5 bars / restaurants in the last 24 hours and this was only one of the stops.  The food is the same as before, the beer selection is decent, the service is decent, meaning this is a place that I will always say yes to if someone else suggests it and I can't think of anything better.  And they do have a great patio.

But I cannot eat a Scotch egg from here or anywhere else ever again because I would feel like I'm cheating on the Scotch egg at the Argyll.  And I'm a loyal kind of a guy.  Especially when it comes to Scotch eggs.

This location has one hell of a patio!

The drink specials are awesome and always awesome.  I will not comment on the food because I don't think you go to a pub of this caliber for the food.  Drinks and eye-candy are bountiful...

The draw-back on this place is the freaking parking lot.  It is shared with so many other businesses that if you go at the wrong time, you could spend your happy hour trying to find parking...

Great place to pick up STDs from a fast lay. Some guys boned every girl in there, so be careful! LOL
As for the drinks, happy hour is awesome!! Great prices and it is generally fun. If your standard in guys and girls is higher than a toothpick with a piece of sausage on it, that wouldnt be the place to go and meet someone physically hot but if you like intellect and someone with a good job, go for it.

I love this place.  Not only is it close to my office, but the drink specials are super fantastic.  The only issue I have with Baker St. is that you have to get there by 4 or 4:30 or you can't find a table.  If this happens to you, you may be forced to stand at the side of the bar next to the speaker...in which case, you'll need ear plugs to keep your ear drums safe.

Overall - the service is good, the drinks are decent and cheap.  My *other* favorite thing - plenty of dipping sauces.  I'm all about variety so when I have 6 sauces to dip the items on the sampler platter in, I'm totally a fan.

I made it again for a happy hour week ago with a group of friends. I work on DTC area, so Baker Street is convenient located for me. They have a good selection of beers and good food too. Happy hour is from 2pm - 9pm and all day Sundays.

I love this place for hang out with friends and have couple drinks. Very relaxing and the service is awesome and prompt even when place is crowd. The really nice patio with a fire pit makes this place amazing when the weather allows us to enjoy it. If you like live music, you will love this place when the band brings an extra energy into it. You can check the music schedule on the website, under Band and Event calendar

Writing a 3 star review is hard. Every three star place pretty much fits the profile of 'Nice, but forgettable'

That really hits Bakers St.  A nice patio, but a weak menu. A quazi-sports bar, but no real tv's. For everything good, something equally bad.  If you go with no expectations, you'll be right at home. Good happy hour, bad parking... you get the idea.

A place to drink.. nothing more, nothing less.

Good place for HH. It's not my favorite. Chips and guacamole was ok. The chicken strips I though had no taste but I was there to meet a few friendly Yelpers and it was fine for a get together.

I feel somehow at home when I walk into this chain-run pickup bar--which is almost embarassing--but I'll live.

The happy hour is good, they have a large menu with a lot of choices (I like the fish taco), and service is usually pretty good if somewhat impersonal. I like the free WiFi best of all. I usually finish my day's work there at least one or two days a week.

Live bands play almost every night, i went and saw an 80s band on a Friday night, they were great. The place was packed, but our waitress made sure to stop by to get any drink orders just before happy hour ended, which was great. $7.50 pitchers, $2 beers during happy hour, ends at 9pm.

    Cougar bar, watch out!

When you first enter, you see a cozy English pub setting with warm wood accents.  Then you realize it's huge!

Baker Street features a lovely large-mosaic stone patio with an inviting warm fire-pit  - quite welcoming on a cool Denver evening. The pub is well attended by very friendly folk, which is exactly what to look for in a pub (not the WHAT, but rather the WHO).

What else? British blokes. Stone and wood. Live music  W Th F Sa, thirty-tw0 (32!) fantastic beers on draft!

    BEST. HAPPY. HOUR. EVER.

I've seen bachelor parties with unhappier hours.  Seriously.  You will never find a happy hour like this.  Here, I'll save you the trouble and just copy and paste it from their website:

    Monday - Saturday 2pm - 9pm
    ALL DAY SUNDAY*

    $1.75 Select Domestic Drafts
    $1.75 Wells
    $2.00 House Wine
    $2.25 Select Calls
    $6.00 Select Domestic Pitchers

Whaaaaaat?!  Yeah.  Seriously.  Be ready to call a cab or have a designated driver.  And if the happy hour wasn't enough, the food is excellent, and they have a ginormous patio.  It's an awesome little gem in the DTC.  Who woulda thought?  Not me.  And for the guys, there's occasionally some talent there, so it's worth a look.  And about 14 beers. (only $30 with tip!!)

    3/28/2010 1 Check-in Here

I hit up Bakers Street this past Saturday on a girls night out.  It was the second stop on our tour.  Walked in about 9:30ish and the place was PACKED.  You could walk around, but no tables or spots at the bar to be found.  So we ended up standing in the seating area where the band was setting up and the waitress actually took our orders.

The place is cute in that English pub kinda way, but I would suggest you get there early if you want to actually sit down and enjoy.  We waited for 1/2 hour for the band to start and I swear the second we stepped out onto the pavement of the parking lot we finally heard them! Oh well.  Here they have an awesome 80's band some nights.
