Mick G., a weary traveller, found himself searching for a delicious dessert/espresso while lost in the realms of San Angelo.

To his delight he discovered the wonders of the Baker Street Coffee House.

Is it on Baker Street?  NO!  This had me worried that it was not so much a coffee HOUSE but more a coffee SHOP with greasy spoon fries and grilled cheese sammmmmmiches.

From the outside, my worries increased, but they were allayed immediately upon entering.

This place has real coffee.  AND it has real Ice Cream.  AND it has really good sammiches and stuff.

I had the Espresso Shake, and it was quite wonderful.  Enough espresso to give the sweet dessert a kick, and rich on wonderful.

They use Boar's Head meats on the 'wiches, which is really quite yummy.

Overall, this is a gem of a place.

Go Baker Street, but I wonder about the name.  I will return for that story.

Bye Baker Street...it was nice knowing you.  Even though the last couple times I got bagels here they were super stale and completely stingy with the cream cheese, I'm sad yet another local business has closed.  So this leaves....just Starbucks to get gourmet coffee at in town.  Bollocks.

This used to be a nice place to go but I think it's fallen downhill. There are a wide variety of coffee drinks and sandwiches. To me, the coffee is not rich enough and seems pretty watered down. The food items are great, though. Huge breakfast burritoes and the sandwiches always taste fresh. The specialty coffee drinks are tasty as well. Free internet is always nice.

Everytime I've gone in there before, the tables have been dirty. That's understandable if they were slammed with a lunch rush but it wasn't busy and the employees were just standing around.

Overall, it would be a good place to go study and grab a quick lunch, but there are better places to go for coffee.

I grabbed a sandwich, a cookie & a muffin from Baker Street. I had the New York Club which was pretty good. I really wanted a chocolate chip cookie but they were out, so I settled for an oatmeal raisin and was a bit disappointed as I was expecting a soft & chewy cookie - the cookie tasted kinda stale. I was also expecting more from the banana nut muffin which  was just 'OK'. The service was good and the coffee house was roomy with lots of seating.

This coffee shop seems perfectly decent, but not particularly stellar. My almond joy coffee (almond, coconut, chocolate coffee sounds promising doesn't it?) turned out pretty syrupy tasting and overly sweet, even for me. And I like sweet. (Even I cringe at how much sugar I add to my coffee.) My sesame bagel also was pretty hard and really dry which I could feel even through the cream cheese. The tomato basil bagel was soft and fresh and tasty, by contrast. The atmosphere seems nice and chill and the staffers were nice. So overall, it's all right.

I bought a gift card for someone I work with (paid cash).  When the person went to use it the very next day (his birthday) he ordered food and drink but the card would not work.  The owner was there but said there was nothing she could do about it.  He paid for his purchases as he dines there frequently and didn't want to cause a stir.  Next day at work he told me his tale and I was HORRIFIED!  I took the card AND the receipt back wanting a refund (I was afraid of a repeat experience for my friend).  The guy in charge during the lunch shift said he couldn't refund me as "the card has no cash value" in which I pointed out it had no value at all as it hadn't worked.  He ran it through the cc machine and confirmed there was no "money" on it...I will say he then offered me a "free sandwich" for my trouble - which I turned down and explained that I have Celiac Disease and can't eat anything with gluten.  All I wanted was a refund on the card that I had paid cash for but didn't work.  He eventually did give me my money back after a drawn out conversation (on my lunch break).  I promptly went and purchased a gift card at another coffee house.  The several times I've gone to Baker Street, the staff has been less than friendly to the customers and more concerned with talking to each other than waiting on customers.  I only purchased a gift card from this establishment as the person I bought it for likes to have coffee there.  Their coffee is good  but the slow and POOR customer service aren't worth it.  Wish they would have handled this mix up in a better way so I could have given a better review.
