By far my favorite beach in the city.

San Francisco is not exactly a Mecca for sand and beaches, but this is definitely an exception. Baker beach gets more sun and less wind then ocean beach. The rip current is strong here so you have to be alert when you get in the water.

The views of the bridge are amazing here, they are reason enough to come here.

    Another great S.F. Beach.

In the Presidio, so not as close to the city as other beaches, but contains amazing views with large areas to roam.

An amazing beach that a surprisingly number of people have never heard of or been to. Almost like that up and coming indie band thats really great but only people in the know listen to them.

When the sky is clear, you have a fantastic view of the Golden Gate as well as the beautiful ocean waves coming in. Its rarely crowded except for on those rare perfect weather days on the weekends.

Sunset is spectacular here with the orange red glow casting off the waves with the Golden Gate in the background. I love portrait photography here late in the day.

love this beach! the view of the bridge is amazing, and there's always an interesting crowd. i've seen wedding photoshoots, marijuana smoking, some cute dogs, and way too many bare butt cheeks for my own good. it never ceases to amaze me how people can toss frisbees around with all their treasures hanging out for the world to see, but hey if you got it you flaunt it! i live near ocean beach so i'm always over there, but the trek to baker beach is always worth making. definitely lots of sights to see.. if you know what i mean 8)

Great beach with the most gorgeous view of Golden Gate Bridge. Amazing place for relaxation. The views are breathtakingly beautiful.

For this being a supposed nude beach; I, for one, have not witnessed any sunburned wrinkly naked buns prancing around the sands like everyone says, nor was I actually really looking for any sunburned wrinkly naked buns. Or was I?

This is my favorite beach in the entire city. It's cleaner and tends to be warmer than Ocean Beach. It's very beautiful on sunny days! You get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge too.

Although this beach has a reputation for being a nude beach, it's really not that bad. There aren't really any nude people all over the place. They tend to hangout at the very end of the beach towards the bridge.

Don't expect warm water. San Francisco is closer to the arctic, so the water will always be cold regardless of how sunny and warm the weather  is.

Definitely a great place to go when you want to get away from the city life and when you really want to enjoy the few sunny days San Francisco has!

Gorgeous way to "get out" of the city and enjoy the beauties of life. We went on a warm day and unfortunately had fog. However, I am writing this because I am telling you that this is COMPLETELY worth the drive, even if it is foggy.

Very clean, not too many people, and you've got a great view of the city and bridge. This is a place you must see if you live in the city.

Whoa... my eyes! My precious EYES! Nudies galore! I saw way more than enough franks and beans for my liking. But that's not why I'm rating it 5 stars. LOL

It has an awesome view of the Golden Gate and makes such a great place for a mini photo op! We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was so peaceful and lovely.

Dog friendly, of course [gotta bring the pups everywhere we go ya know], so Happy met a lot of new friends and got to sniff a lot of new butts. People were letting their dogs off leash, which was nice because every dog there was well behaved.

If you don't feel like being a beach bum or if you feel like burning some calories, hike up and down those steps they have [closer to the Bridge side of the beach]. But watch out, and try not to let your eyes wander too much... you get a fairly good view of the 'scenery' from the steps.

How can you not love this beach???

It's got the Golden Gate Bridge as a back drop!
Has dry sand... not that cruddy sh!t on Ocean Beach!
It makes you feel like you're in paradise on those sunny days
Is so close no matter where you're coming from in the city
There's a nude section for all you people who like to let it all hang out
And don't let those hazy skies fool you, you'll still get a tan going
A people-watching paradise (families, hipsters, couples, etc...)

How can you not love this beach???

This beach makes me slightly to moderately jealous of the following people:

People who brought a picnic basket.
    People who brought alcohol.
People who brought a soccer ball.
    People who brought drugs.*
    People who brought a towel.
    People with dogs.
    People with cute, quiet kids.
People with better cameras than mine to capture the awesome view.
People who since have erased the memory of the naked, old men.**
People who are free enough to eschew all clothes and subsequently, tan lines.

As you can see, I was woefully unprepared for my trip to this beach. But even though all these things could've made my beach excursion that much better, being out here on a nice day is still as good as it gets.

Yes, I know that doesn't make sense.
    __________

    *Just kidding, Mom.
**Not what I meant by "the awesome view."

Great beach for it's views of the Golden Gate Bridge, sand in your toes and quiet surf.  If you're like me and get cold fast, bring a few layers, even if it's sunny.  The wind factor will get you.  But if you radiate heat like the sun god, by all means, wear shorts (or head down to the nudy side)!

Put on sunblock.  Lots of it.   Even on a hazy, overcast day, you will roast!  My legs will testify to that fact.  If you're brave, take a dip in the ocean.  If it's foggy and freezing and you do it anyways, kudos for you.  Just be careful of rip currents.

4th of July here was awesome.  We came armed to the teeth with Tecates and lime, chicken, bacon dogs, pasta salad and more.  Feast and relax.  Great for people watching.  Take the bus so you won't have to deal with parking.  Or get there early and avoid the masses of families, couples, fidos from all walks of life that were there.

Been here in all kinds of weather, and it's an overall great beach.  Relatively clean bathrooms.  Just pick up after yourselves and don't leave a mess!  Happy beaching!  :-)

Baker Beach is beautiful. It's much better than any of the other beaches I've been to in SF. The sand is nice and fluffy, it's well taken care of, the water actually looks appealing, and it's an all around great place to lay out and take advantage of the rare hot days that only grace their presence once in awhile. The views here are also beautiful- it would be a great place to take family from out of town.

I'm not sure where the nude section was (which I keep reading about on Yelp), but that would be interesting haha. At least the area I went to was packed with young people partying in the sun. Fun times!

I love love love this beach.

It's right near my house which means that even on the hottest summer days I can just walk over and laugh at all the people waiting for parking.

I was raised by pretty liberal carefree parents who speak of going to nude beaches in SF in the early 90s, however I didn't actually think they existed now. Boy was it a surprise to me when I got here... There are probably more naked men here than most men's locker rooms. If you're comfortable with yourself and fine seeing other people naked I would totally hit it up. There was a game of nude volleyball and a solo nude yogi on the beach for entertainment when I was there.

Caution: if you are a woman, plant yourself somewhere in the middle of all the naked men. There tends to be creeps who walk by (closer to the water) and on the rocks who have their camera out.

Someone should have told me to to dress lightly so I can easily take all my clothes off! Didn't know it was a nude beach but maybe I should be glad everyone kept their clothes on!
Unfortunately, I came during a cold, cold day!! Despite the fact that it was cold and wish i had another jacket..at the beach... I enjoyed my 15 minutes while I was there. Even though it was cold, there was plenty of people laying around, playing in the pretty clean sand. The best part was the most amazing view of the golden gate bridge! There couldn't be better scenery!!
I definitely have to come back when it's nice and sunny!! Don't judge me but it was my first beach experience in the bay; come on SF, it's summer time!

This beach is definitely one that everyone needs to check out.. It's dog friendly and has the most stunning view of the bridge. Always bring a jacket because it can get chilly as usual... But the wind is what's the worst. We cracked open some coronas after walking down toward the bridge and no one bothered us.. so carry on right??!!!
Although be warned...when you get right down to the end at the rocks, watch out for the nudies... that's their hang out spot. So maybe don't take the kids all the way down there if you are afraid they might catch a glimpse of some strange man's package... Although I must say, they don't seem to have a care in the world!

Olivia's Review: Baker Beach Nude Beach

Wrong Baker Beach, oops! Instead of getting the captivating view of the Golden Gate Bridge, my girlfriends and I instead got the look of 10 subdued men at half mass climbing to full... just waiting for us to remove our bikinis. Did not happen. We stayed for 2 hours and somewhere between the last ten minutes they stopped looking (we had put our clothes back on and grabbed our stuff). I guess there's no such thing as a free all over body tan then.

Besides them (I wish I could Italicize "THEM") the beauty of Baker beach was enslaving. The water was a beautiful cerulean (something I didn't think I'd see in an S.F. Beach) The mounds of cliffs, the caves, the crevices, the tranquil water rippling slowly on velvet sand reminded me of the Philippines and the shores of Oahu.

That concludes my nude beach review. I will finish by rightfully naming it Sausage Beach!

If I could plan a romantic evening here that involved a lantern, sandwiches from the yellow submarine and a naked stroll on the beach under a full moon then I would. Sadly I can't imagine it being permissible or safe! It was broad daylight when we went and I still saw my life flash before my eyes and my face on a milk carton and one of those guys on America's Most Wanted.

    It's cold.  Sometimes brutally cold.

There are naked old men laying around, and sometimes they walk around.

So, that means some things shrivel and other things sag.

Plus, the old nude guys are as furry as musk oxen in the tundra to be able to survive the cold.

    Yee haw!

Boring, cold water, minimal waves and the only scenery is the houses to the left but it's nice at Sunset.

If you want to see hot bodies and nudity, you better go every day for a year and may'be one afternoon you'll get lucky. If you're into creepy old men or hot man action, head for the rocks towards the bridge.

Not a good make out spot and don't linger past dark, the park rangers will push you on.

Baker Beach is at the Presidio, is about a half mile long and is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In 1904, it was fortified with disappearing gun installations known as Battery Chamberlin, which can still be viewed today. From 1986 to 1990, the north end of Baker Beach was the original site of the Burning Man art festival. Subsequent Burning Man events have taken place in Black Rock Desert, Nevada.

I've been to Baker Beach several times, and always with all my clothes on. The optional folks are usually at one end, but since this is San Francisco it really doesn't matter either way as nothing really surprises me anymore. And what an opportunity is is to see the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands from this ocean-side angle. If I ever get tired of seeing scenery like this.....

Went to Baker's Beach yesterday, it was warm. Today is warmer and I am having a hard time working because it is so beautiful outside. Yesterday we enjoyed the sun, the no wind howling by and the seals swimming by. Didn't see a ship, so I missed out on that one. Wore a suit and am not ready to get nekkid. I got plenty of sun without doing that.

Plenty of dogs coming by to say hello. I like dogs and they like me. Wonderful day at the beach.

What a lovely drive you have to take to get to Baker Beach. I think enjoyed the drive just as much as the beach... lots of tress and an amazing view of the ocean. Parking is free, the beach isn't overly crowded and dogs can run freely! It was easy to get to and very clean, there are stairs to climb, a forest to hike through and of course the beautiful back drop of the Golden Gate Bridge to enjoy.

I read reviews about the nudity but (luckily) didn't see anyone airing out their business on the day that I was there. Going on a weekday was a good choice, I'm sure its much busier on the weekends... and much more naked.

I didn't want to come to this...I've enjoyed coming here every time I visited, and had nothing but positive things to say about this place. After last weekend, not anymore.

I know that it's the 4th of July weekend, and it's much more crowded than usual...that's fine. My boyfriend and I waited over an hour, and found a parking spot. Unfortunately, someone else came by a short time later, and was waiting for the same spot as we did. A park ranger came by and saw the situation. Even after several bystanders verified that we were waiting there first, the other guy was given priority. And how was my boyfriend and I treated instead? With complete rudeness. Okay, we get it. It's an unfortunate situation. But as an park employee, you don't need to be such a jerk about it, and tell us to "move (y)our asses somewhere else"!! Didn't help that he guy who stole our spot flipped us a bird as we left. Thanks for adding insult to injury.

That left a very sour taste in my mouth. At least a little respect in handling the situation would have been nice. it's going to be awhile (if ever) before I EVER come back here.

baker beach is much cleaner than ocean beach and  you get  the GGB view!

theres a lot of free parking spaces unless you come on a gorgeous day then tough luck.

i love coming here to tan!! just throw down my beach towel, apply sunscreen, and just lay there like a dead fish-let the sun cook me until i am fairly tan!

i would play in the water too however i don't try swim in there just because i don't know how to swim.. and i don't recommend anyone to swim there because the waves literally pulls you out..it can be scary..

theres not a lot of picnic tables and i don't think you can make reservations for it, so come early if you know you are planning to bbq!

restrooms here are pretty clean and conveniently located near the parking lot.

lastly, the nude side of the beach. you won't find nudes unless you walk towards the GGB then you will see nudes. you can get nude too but only on that side.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was one of the hottest days of the year so far. Definitely beach weather! So, once everyone called in sick to work we headed out to the beach. Those of us that got there before noon found parking easily right up front. Those that came later had to park as far as 25th ave. I like this beach because it stays a lot warmer than Ocean Beach due to the fact that it is surrounded by mountains. It also has bathrooms, which is always a plus.

The view was amazing with the Golden Gate bridge and Marin in the background. This is probably one of the best beaches in the whole Bay Area.

    OMG.

I ABSOLUTELY LUV, LUV THIS BEACH!!!!

I found Baker Beach on yeLp, OF COURSE.. and decided to take my cousins out to the bay on 4th of July. We arrived a tad late, it was super breezy but the sun was still torching us like we're sugar on creme brulee.

The drive was easy and scenic, it felt like the ocean was the sky.. and we were fallin' in. I didnt enjoyed myself as much as i anticipated, i wanted a tan!!! Arghhh, it was foggy that day over the Golden Gates.. much better than Sac!! Take 37 to 101 if ure coming from north, no traffic and a very peaceful drive... I highly recommend it!

Baker Beach is probably old to most folks, but to me its a new discovery and will find more hidden spots in the bay!!

Unsavory nudies dragging their naughty bits through the sand and bumming around the beach eliminating any and all possible tan lines? Check.

Hipsters wearing mom jeans and leather jackets... at the beach? Check.

Illegal substances and glass bottles of booze as far as the eye can see? Check (but if you're a narc, I didn't see anything).

Sweeping views of that famous red bridge connecting San Francisco to Marin County? Czech!

Just when you thought San Francisco couldn't get any more gorgeous, there lies Baker Beach below the affluent community of Sea Cliff. On a hot day in the city when sunshine is breaking weather records that have stood valiant for decades, there's not a better way to waste away a weekend afternoon with dogs, sun, salt water, and some of the most bad ass skim boarders in Northern California. If only that helium-laced ball of orange gas made more appearances 'round these parts, I'd be a very, very happy chap.
