this is my spot.  if the bf didn't like sand in his shoes or shorts, i'd go here more often.

the best days of summer were laying there, listening to classical music and doing some self-reflection.

a girl's gotta do her thinking somewhere... might as well be at one of the best views in the city!

Best Beach in the Bay!!!  Never knew about this beach until recent.  A couple of my friends and i decided to go to a beach during August heat waves.

Once we got there the place was crowded like a Hanna Montana concert!!! haha jp. but it was really crowded that afternoon.
My friends and I  enjoyed the warm afternoon at the beach with ice-chest full of coronas, great conversations, throwing the old football around, and joking around about the weird naked jogging people.lol  Baker Beach = Great times!!! = )

Baker Beach = Beautiful sunset view!
I love the Bay!

PS:  The water was cold as heck!!!

Oh, dearest Baker Beach.  How I love thee, except for when it's awesome weather and i choose to bring my dog out, but your other fans choose to bring their penises out.

Seriously - watch out, it's a nude beach, and though there aren't many nudes, on a day like this, Sept 26, 2009 in SF with gorgeous weather, there are many nude men (which I don't care about), but many nude men petting my dog (which I do care about since it makes it awkward to have to talk to them when my dog wants to jump up.  yep visualize that).  There are the old and young nudes alike.  Most of them are men in their 50's walking around, with shyer nude couples in their  20's sitting near the back.  Oh yea, my favorite is still the guy playing frisbee by himself, and the dude I saw stretching today.  The one where he was on his back, legs spread eagle - - unnecessary.

Baker Beach is AWESOME.  Been coming for years.  Porto-potties though, and that sucks.  But seriously beautiful.  I  like it better when it's foggy and you can go out there with some friends and some blankets, some wine, a bocci ball set, and you're set for the day!  I like it more vacant like that, but on a sunny day it will be crowded with the dressed and non-dressed alike, and the girls in bikin's (we still don't live in LA, ladies).  The multi-mil houses look a little more beat up than I remember but still stand iconically on the cliffs.  And the view to the GGB is unbeatable.

But honestly this place is great.  It's small, smaller than Ocean Beach, but quite a bit more picturesque.  A lot of character and charm. bathrooms are hard, i don't know where there is running water but there are picnic tables near the parking (not on or near the beach).  I think the best and easiest way to get here is to go down California, go North on 25th, then right at the stop sign (2 blocks in).  Follow till you see the signs for Baker Beach on your left.  If you see Baker Beach apartments on the right, you went a little too far.

dogs off leash - yes
nude - yes
prefer to keep clothes on - yes

Woohoo, as good as it gets!

This beach is only a few blocks from where I live so I just walk there from 25th Ave. I like that it's not really that crowded whenever I've gone. It's always just been relaxing. A lot of people complain about the crowds but I think it's because they all group around where the parking lot is. You have to go away from the middle and towards the Sea Cliff houses. That's always relatively empty.

I've never been to the nudy side, just the non nudy. I've heard though if you do want to visit that part it's no big thing. Let your junk wave in the breeze or something like that. Do what you gotta/wanna do! Don't get offended if you walk over and see nude people since there's no real line saying which part of the beach is what. Everyone has sex organs so who cares?

The beach is usually picked clean of any shells that may wash up so don't expect much in the way of that.

Overall great :)

The grains of sand are huge. The area is a lot smaller than Ocean Beach, but much much cleaner. On a sunny day, It is hard to find parking or a place to lay down your towel. Closer to the GGB, you can see old naked guys, no girls, just old guys.

Great views of the GG on one end and cliffs on the other. Beach is nice & long and fairly wide, gorgeous scenery, and dog-friendly, which is great for me since I love bringing my puppy everywhere. The drive here is beautiful if you come past Crissy Field- I'd recommend bringing your out-of-town visitors along for some good views.
There are some port-a-potties in the parking lot (ugh)- no other facilities. There's a bunch of walking/hiking trails around that make it a great stop along a day of outdoor fun.

Yay Baker Beach! Another place I always take my out-of-state friends when they visit.
Why?
Naked people. Especially old saggy balls men. I find them quite amusing.
Breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Awesome people watching.
Lovely sea glass and rocks to collect.
Great views of the Sea Cliff homes.
Plenty of free parking.

They do have bathrooms (@Mira G, maybe you were just in the upper parking lot?), and picnic areas on the opposite side of the parking lot as well. And its pet and workout friendly.

See you on the beach - naked yo. I look good naked.

peace, love, and good booze ~ chase

OH jesus, such good memories here!
STORY-
When I was a kid my class went on a field trip...and there was this girl I didnt like right? So we tried to build a sand castle here and tried to make our own fortress. we were carrying big logs and well..it got heavy and we dropped it..on my foot. I broke my ankle but it's okay :/ it happened awhile ago.

I went here recently. It was super nice! I walked with a couple friends..got some seashells, looked at the view.

there were some naked old men, but i don't really have an opinion on that. and when it's a hot day you should come here for a picnic. :)

I'm a born and raised Bay Area kid and yesterday was my first time here which suprises me because I'm into that whole sightseeing, scenic shit.

Parking is a breeze and free and close to the beach which is a plus. The views are beautiful with the golden gate bridge and those sea-side houses; kinna like laguna/corona del mar, but timeless looking.

Be sure to look out for the signs for Baker Beach if it's your first time. We ended up driving all the way to the toll plaza.

It's a convenient location for me in the Presidio, some parking, and a gorgeous view of Golden Gate Bridge. Make sure to get here early as it was a zoo at 3pm when I left. The sand is soft and not too dusty, and the water is sorta aqua clear. I also watched dolphins, pelicans and sea lions here...it was rad!

Mostly families on Sunday...no naked, wrinkly balls.

Baker Beach is the perfect spot to be on the occasional warm weekend in San Francisco. This beach is lovely, with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin County very close by.  The water tends to be chilly and the tide strong, but it's still fun to wade up to your knees and sunbathe when the weather is permitting. The beach is also a great place to people watch, from the 'regular' side of families and tourists to the naked beach on the far end.

Run, don't walk, to this beach the next time it's warm in SF. Bring some food, a book, and some sunscreen, and I guarantee you'll have a good time!

Decided to go here all thanks to the wonderful Jennifer C.P. Once she said "nude"-- I teleported to Baker beach in record time.

It's gorgeous here!

The not-so-gorgeous: When the men interrupt our nudie tan session by asking us to lotion them up. [eww]

So me and my friend were being idiots and sneaked a random photo of the naked guy next to us for shits and giggles because his ballsack was in plain view! Why were we looking, you might ask? Because we've got eyes that are automatically drawn to ballsacks... duhh!

... he approaches us with his digital SLR camera and the following conversation ensued.

Him: "Can you take a picture of me?"
My paranoid friend: "No, no we didn't take any pictures of you- why would we?!!"
Him: "No, CAN You...."
My paranoid friend: "Ohh.... you want ME to take a picture of YOU? uhhhh.... full body?"
Him: "Yes"

me: trying so hard to conceal my laughter and failing miserably. His partially erect penis was just... too distracting. Not in a good way... and it just fueled my laughter.
-

5 stars for the perfect tan!

The mere fact that were so fortunate to have such a beautiful beach with an historical and amazing view is enough to complete this review. I like this beach for many reason, but I think it reflects a sense of liberalism that you would be hard press to find in many places. On the right side of this beach one can be naked and free, free from most gawkers and peeping toms, and yet feel so comfortable about the essence of themselves.

On the other side of the beach you have many people there who are having just as much fun playing together, building sand castles, running on the shore, conversing drinking wine, reading books or even just soaking up the rays. I reckon if i'm gonna pay so much to live here in this beautiful bay area i'm gonna enjoy it as much as I possibly can.

It's interesting to have something so beautiful and so close, and not even take the time to appreciate it's beauty. Folks travel and pay thousands of dollars everyday to see a thing we have in our backyards.  Dude i'm going tomorrow. See ya there Yelpers!

Dude, I went to the beach...burrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The only things that were nude were the seagulls.

Another great, Northern California Beach.  The sand is fine and not pebbly.  The water is cold and like main other beaches there are rip currents and potential for areas with strong "under toe", so be cautious if swimming.  There is a "nude" area on the beach's northern stretches if that's your thing.  The biggest draw for me are the great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the hiking trail that runs through the Battery and along the bluffs above the beach.

There is parking in nearby lots, limited nearby street parking.  Public transportation takes you right there.

I come here to drink and smoke with my friend sometimes. However, I pose one question:
WHERE ARE ALL THE NAKED PEOPLE????
I think I went to the other side of the beach instead.  Because the few times I went here, I never saw a single nudie.
Well... except for one..
There was this chick in a purple wig posing nude. And this guy was taking photographs.  The girl was doing all sorts of poses.
Wait.. but I have a feeling that maybe this will show up on the net as pornography.. I feel a little weird now..

Well... anyway it's a nice beach...................

My first visit to Baker Beach will go down in my personal history as one of the great days of my life. The reasons I can state on Yelp are
1) ample free parking (at least early in the morning)
2) well the weather just happened to be perfect
3) sea glass!
4) clean sand
5) pelicans!
6) great climbing rocks over to secluded areas that were like being off on some far away beach
7) lots of naked men
8) killer killer view of the GG bridge
9) happy people
10) oh the possibilities

Finding Baker Beach was like finding religion for me, having been a frequenter of Ocean Beach (which was like an old religion I'm rejecting).

The best part of Baker Beach is that stunning view of the GG.
It's so peaceful out here.
You just have to experience it for yourself.

My favorite memory of this place was coming here with the old lady killing time until her hair appointement at a salon nearby.
We popped open a bottle of Prosecco I had bought earlier and just sat together on a log in the sand under the warm sun.
It was one of those really sunny SF days that you value because the fog rolls through the next day just like that.
I ended up drinking about 95% of the whole bottle between the two of us because I'm just cool like that. (and she doesn't drink)

Probably the most relaxing buzz I've ever had sitting on a log watching ships go by.

I love Prosecco. (http://static.px.yelp....)

Beautiful beach with not too much trash on the floor...most trash from the sea like sea weed or wood.  There's a lot of trash cans for you to dump your trash.  You also get a beautiful photo op of the bridge and waves crashing onto the rocks.  I don't think many tourists know of this spot, but it is seen on many postcards.  I believe its more fun to visit the actual spot and take your own picture rather than spend a quarter (I know its just 25 cents) on a postcard.

But here's my breakdown:
Minus 5 for fat dudes that like to sunbathe butt naked.
Plus 5 for the beautiful scenery.
Plus 5 for off leash access for dogs that like to swim and interact with other dogs.
You can do the math...the scenery and the dogs outweigh the nudies...but it still grosses me out.

This is the beach everyone takes a shot of the bridge from.  The one that the adventurous tourists drive those stupid go-karts out to.  And the one I head down to if I have a few extra minutes.

I love that you can have a BBQ here.  I love that I don't have to walk down hundreds of feet of trashed beach to get to the water, like at Ocean Beach.  I love that I get to pass it every day on my way to work.

I still hate the tourists and those stupid go-karts!

i love the view! nothing can beat this place on a rare warm sunny SF day. don't drive...take the #29 or just get to 25th Ave and just walk...theres a way you can cut through without having to go around that windy road that leads to the parking lot. it gets crowded on nice days but everyone is so happy to see the sun in SF (and thus friendly) that i usually end up making friends with the people around us. oh yea  theres a nude beach by the bridge.

The sand grains are bigger, so those who HATE picking out Ocean Beach sand, here you go! The part I usually go to is closer to the Richmond and we bbq there a lot. A part of this beach is supposedly a nude beach but I have yet come across someone of the nude nature yet, cause SF's been so gosh darn cold. But my friends say they saw a naked old man and got traumatized...just kidding. It's one of those beaches that is secluded and it's very nice to have that privacy. It's not the long stretch of beach like Ocean Beach and depending on where you are, there is a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you're a marine biology geek, my AP bio class came here during a VERY low tide and we saw sea urchins and anemones and other creatures that cling to life on the rocks. Be careful we poked at one and it squirted us with water. We also saw a small whale or dolphin passing by, one of the students mistook it as a shark and screamed her head off.

Hope you have as memorable an adventure as I have.

It is nice, and one of the cleaner beaches (or area of beach) in SF (although today when I went I did pick up a few pieces of trash only feet from the garbage can) it is really only worth going (for the waves that is) at high tide and when it is a nicer day than today (rain, wind etc. you know, normal SF weather). I find that in general Ocean beach near Skyline has the best views for big(ger) waves and less wind. I went there the other day (Christmas) the waves looked amazing! I mean HUGE waves - at least 100 feet out they were a good 20feet! It was so cool.

So for me Baker beach on a cold day is just not worth it! Now when it is hot, sunny and you have a good beach blanket - bucket of cold drinks and good company - it rocks!

Stunningly gorgeous beach right here in San Francisco.  Are we in a big city?
No more.
Throw off your clothes and stretch.
Arms thrown wide, legs long and warm.  If you dare, get cold wet, swim till the cold is warm.  Naked in the water is nice.  Then jump out and stretch.
This is the world.  This is where we live.
We love.  We live.  We thrive.

Hands down, my favorite beach in San Francisco. The view is amazing and I am not talking about the view of the Golden Gate Bridge. SIKE! But really, I favor Baker beach over Ocean Beach. Way more cleaner, the sand looks healthier, people look like they actually enjoy swimming, nude people playing volleyball-- you just can't go wrong with all of the above!

"You look so fine... I want to break your heart and give you mine."

There are two ways to live: success in staying or failure in dying. It's the crash of the waves that sets you free, the cold air combined with harsh, unfriendly sand. Kids, tourists, Chinese people and nude sunbathers coexist as one. And when you text "hooray boobs" jokingly to your friends, it comes out as "goosby bombs," because, damn you, Motorola, your T9 sucks...

"People like us know how to survive... There's no point in living if you can't feel the life."

It's not pretty, but it is what it is, a history that finds itself hidden. The gun turret spins as a man in costume operates it with a child. What brought down war machines evolves into a novelty attraction few people notice...

"This is the noise that keeps me awake... My head explodes and my body aches."

But sitting somewhere here between the golden suicide bridge and Robin Williams snorting coke in his bright pink mansion, you realize life is just one big, beautiful fucking mess. It's glamorously glorified Garbage... a loveliness that cuts you from the inside out.

"I would die for you. I would die for you. I've been dying just to feel you by my side, to know that you're mine..."

I love Baker Beach because of the gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The parking lot is a decent size and there are picnic tables near the parking lot. Also, not far from the beach (Lincoln Blvd. & Pershing Dr.), there's a free Presidio shuttle bus stop that goes around Park Presidio, which is great for tourists.

Overall, Baker Beach is a great beach in San Francisco. Good for swimmers, kids (remember it's a nude beach at the north side), pets, and that romantic walk on the beach. ;-)

I've never run into anyone nude at Baker Beach.  I come in the mornings when it's not too crowded (and it's never crowded then) to run on the beach, go up the sand stairs (it's challenging, especially at the top when the stairs are buried beneath the sand but it still slopes upward), run back down and repeat a couple of times.  It's a nice place to run because it isn't crowded (though you may run into a boot camp) and the variety of terrains keeps it interesting (run on sand, go up the stairs, run on the dirt path, the Coastal Trail). You get to see the beach, trees, canons, shrubs, and the bridge.  During the spring, the bumblebees can be aggressive though.

The view of the Golden Gate Bridge is stunning and the ocean air feels so refreshing.  Plus there's a bit of history too because of the old canons which they still fire from time to time.

It's smaller, cleaner and more secluded than Ocean Beach.  Easy, free parking.  There are restrooms and picnic areas.

Update:  I saw a nude guy in the afternoon.  He was sunburned and looked like a lobster.  He even started doing some exercises on the beach.  This was the MAIN part of the beach.  Disturbing.  I'm not going back there except early in the morning to run.

I jog/walk to this beach at least 4 times a week.

This is what I love about it.  It's never the same.

High tide, low tide, placid, rough, sunny or foggy it's always changing.  Even the ocean erodes a once crumpled continent in to smooth, colorful pebbles that dance in the waves; all in the shadows of the Golden Gate Bridge.

One day I found a group of small, oddly shaped jellyfish dumped by the tide.

Another day while walking toward the sand ladder, I came across a man playing with his jellyfish.  Yes, I mean HIS JELLYFISH. He just dropped his drawers and did the stroke.

GROSS!!!

This beach is beautiful and relaxing, but the closer you get to the bridge, the more I recommend staring at the ocean, the bridge or pebbles.  You may get a glimpse of a nude, overweight, elderly man bending over (for far too long, mind you) digging through his bag.

P.S.

After the stroking jellyfish incident I saw some cops and asked them what to do if something like that happened again.

They said to call Presidio Park Police and they also said that it is actually ILLEGAL to go nude on the beach and has been for quite some time.

It is a law that the police have long over looked, but will arrest someone if needed.  Moral of the story?  Wear your birthday suite at your own risk and don't do the stroke in public.

Scary beach due to the waves, but best place to go in the hot days.

Back in high school when I was yay high, my fellow classmates and I would cut school and catch the 29 Sunset after a ride about 1 hour and some minutes we would end up at bakers beach for a day of fun in the sun.

Im not sure if they still have the ONLY show skin section but lets not get into that.

There is a clean restroom area, picnic area and trails. Parking is limited so when we have a warm day you may want to hit the place up very early to get good parking. Great for families, please watch out for the kids the waves the very strong you don't want them caught in an under toe ripe tide. Dog friendly just remember to pick up after your pooch lets keep our park looking good!

Hands down the best beach in San Francisco! You get a view of the Golden Gate Bridge on one end, rich people's houses on the other end, and a ton of beautiful sun bathers in between.

Plus... Just wander down near the Golden Gate Bridge side for some hot nudity... Usually involving obese 50 year old dudes. Yes!

Might I suggest you bring a picnic and some drinks?

AMAZING beach!! It's absolutely beautiful, and there's a beautiful view of the golden gate bridge. This is my favorite beach in San Francisco. It's a lot better than Ocean beach. (I really like Ocean beach, too, though)

If you're looking for a nude beach....... this is for you. I'm not into the whole nude beach so I stay on the other side. :) BUT..... If you are into that, then the closer you walk on the beach toward the bridge....that's where the nudies are.

This beach is definitely a must see!!
