Yes, it's a gross corporate chain and it's not real Mexican food, but props to Baja Fresh for being the only Mexican joint that can assemble me up a vegan, black bean burrito with grilled veggies and lets me steal as many lime wedges as I want so that I can put them in my drinks when I get home.
All Baja Freshes are the same and all offer the same exact thing, so all I can say about this one is that the parking is awful here. It has to be one of the most cramped and dangerous driveway/parking lot combinations I have ever seen.

I won't lie.. I was on a Baja kick for a while.... but then I came to my senses and realized that there are better Mexican joints in Sacramento. If you MUST try Baja Fresh, their carnitas soft tacos are pretty darn yummy or the steak salad with the vinegarette.
The parking lot does MAKE YOU A LITTLE CRAZY, crazy like you want to slam your head into the stearing wheel to knock your own ass out of misery... Don't bother, it's definately not life-changing food...
Really I can not attest to everything on the menu. I usually get the baja steak burrito with no pico salsa, wich means its really just meat, cheese, guac, and sour cream but it tastes great to me. The baja chicken salad is good too and they have some green dressing ( dont remember the name) thats fat free, lots of carbs in the tortilla strips though (if your dieting). Chips are good too.
I would really like to give baja four stars but after reading the other two reviews i can remember a few times ive accidentally got rice on my burrito and it was hard and nasty.
Good place to eat just be carefull of what you eat i guess.
Why do people like Baja Fresh? I think I've had multiple recommendations from folks and I tried it once before with my sister and it was not good. I should have heeded my own recollection.
Right now, I am trying to gag down a side salad with thousands of raw squishy tomatoes (yes, not salsa, but chopped mushy tomatoes). This is after I ate a barely passable chicken mexicano burrito. I'm still not sure what was so mexicano about it. It was undercooked pinto beans, charbroiled chicken breast chunks (with very little flavor, I might add), rice, cilantro. Possibly salsa. In a giant white flour tortilla.
I just checked the calorie count: 940 calories. Soooooo not worth it. I picked out the chicken and dumped the other half of the burrito to start on the salad.
Maybe I'm not in the mood for it. But I think it's something else. Sometimes when I eat salad, it tastes so bad, so astringent, that I can't even finish it. Like old, bitter lettuce. It could just be the presentation, or my perception...not sure. This is one of those days. It's not even iceberg, the most Evil Lettuce in the world (not because of it's relatively benign existence, but because it's essentially water and cellulose, and is grown, with other water-needy crops like alfalfa, in heavily subsidized agribusiness conglomerates that locate their fields oh-so-conveniently in Death Valley). It's a green leaf, chopped, teeny bits of cheese and cilantro on slimy raw tomatoes, with a really not good ranch dressing plastic ramikin in the middle. Blech.
On top of that, my diet soda was flat.
I just spent $10 on one of the worst meals I've ever had for lunch, not counting Maria's Tacos, which was also bad, but at least it was cheap. I consider $10 for lunch to be this side of too-expensive.
Basically, I'm trying to cut my calories and my cash outlay down by a lot, and I was on my way to Taco Bell, because you know what you get there, and I decided to stop at Baja Fresh. Not because I ever have a good meal there, but because it said "Fresh", and that appealed to me.
I should have just gone to Taco Bell.
That said, it gets 2 stars because the counter people were lovely and the salsa bar, while totally devoid of food-like odors you'd expect from an onion fortified section of the outlet, was clean.

I would have to pretty much agree with every thing that Amy P. wrote in her review however, I have not sampled as much as she has on the menu. One of the main reasons I do eat at this Baja Fresh is it's location. It's a quick place to pick up one of my regular lunches -the tortilla soup; with a side of chips and salsa (I like the spicy) and a medium Diet Pepsi I am only spending about five dollars.
Like Amy P. said it has always been clean on all of my visits, including the salsa bar and bathroom. The staff is friendly and even when the line is long it does tend to move quick, another bonus for a person on a short lunch.
