It's just Baja Fresh right, so why five stars? See I went with my usual Baja Fresh order, a Baja shrimp burrito, which by the way was stuffed with shrimp, and a small Diet Coke, that cost me an arm and a leg but who cares because the salsa bar was fully stocked and very fresh. Ok that's not really why it's deserving of the five stars, it's because the cashier informed me that my name, Mitzie, means Queen in Mexico, HELLO who does not like to be told they are a Queen?!?!?

I totally love this place. Fresh tasting, yummy Mexican food. It's WAY better than Azteca that is twice the price. I was disappointed when they discontinued the "Burrito dos manos", but found solace in the steak fajitas.
I probably ate here every 2 weeks for a full year. Probably more than that, and I never had a bad experience. I even rolled in there a few times at 9:58 and they were more than happy to help even though it was almost closing time. You gotta love that!

Boring and mediocre. OK if you want a quick fix, not good for much else.
Not sure why I wasn't into this place, so let me list things I noticed:
1. There were more onions than carne asada in my carne asada tacos. I am still chewing on cinnamon Altoids to rid my mouth of the oniony after-taste.
2. The rice was just awful. Weird, off-tasting, dry and unappetizing.
3. The black beans also had a peculiar taste, although after a while I got used to it (and I had to eat something besides onions).
4. The whole restaurant smells. It's one of those nose-wrinkling smells that makes you wonder whether something died in here, or if someone's draped their dirty clothes over the heater or something. Maybe they need to clean their drains...but it smells nasty.
Granted, the onions in the tacos were fresh, but I'd rather be able to see some of the carne asada I'm paying for and not the fresh (cheap!) veggie bits on top.
It's also oddly expensive. If you're giving me a tablespoon of pork product, spread between two tacos, how is that suddenly $8 of food?
The pico de gallo was pretty good; I am a fan of the pico de gallo ;)
Overall, though, this place is too expensive for what you get.

For me, Baja Fresh is the perfect "bachelor chow". It's fast, healthy, filling, and you can pretty much eat it every night (and I often do). They often introduce new specialty burritos (such as the cheesy Nacho Burrito or the extra hearty Beef, Potato, and Cheese burrito), but my favorite is the menu-regular Burrito Mexicano: just grilled chicken, dry Spanish rice, black beans, chopped onions, cilantro, and salsa wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla. If you're tired of the rubbery steamed tortillas at other burrito places, Baja Fresh is for you. The salsa bar has at least 5 salsas to choose from for your complementary warm tortilla chips and your burrito. If you're feeling extra festive, you can wash it all down with the usual assortment of Mexican bottled beers.

Fresh, yummy, well thought out Mexcan "fast food". Decent salsa bar, selection of "the usual" beer (for a mexican place: Corona, Pacifico, etc...)
Usually I'll have the Mango chipotle chicken salad - and I'm not even a big salad eater - but their mango salsa stuff is tasty.
A couple of fish tacos for lunch today, could have been straight off of a beach in Rosarito - only down in Me-ji-co they would be 50 cents each, and here there were six bucks.
Definitely not the Taco Bell kind of fast food though. That stuff is fast to order, fast to eat, and fast to...well..."pass". You'll still feel good after eating at Baja Fresh.
