Bailey House
1 review for Bailey House
Whittier is extremely proud of its origins and strives to preserve all things associated with Whittier- trees, landmarks, homes, etc. (There was a HUGE uproar about someone cutting a tree down, but that's another issue. ) Back in elementary school, we learned all about how Whittier was founded by a group of Quakers. Part of this lesson included a trip to the Bailey House, the oldest building in Whittier. The tour was pretty nice- lead by an older woman in a late 1800s style dress. The home is small compared to today's homes, and the beds, doorways, furniture are all smaller. During the springtime, huge stalks of hollyhock grow in the front yard. Bailey House is a nice place to visit if you are interested in Whittier or anything 1880-1890's related.
