Let me first start by saying that I survived a hurricane here.  And breaking up with my best friend, because of the hurricane.

I booked this hotel for $68 per night on http://Expedia.com.  This is unreal compared to other locations in Ft Lauderdale.  It is only a 3 star hotel, but the price and location are so ideal that you can't help but stay here.

The pool is beautiful and pristine, and often over crowded with children.  The deck is usually filled with sunbathers, many of them so dark, I'm surprised they still have the ability to produce more melanin to tan any darker.

The drinks at the pool bar are real, unlike most of the slurpee plus shot of vodka drink huts you'll find in Fort Lauderdale.

We got free drinks also at the indoor bar in the hotel.  The hotel is right on the beach, except for A1A running between you and it.  However, the lovely people at Bahia Mar built a damn bridge to get you there more easily!  How sweet!  It's also painted white, so you're little toe-sies won't burn off!  The beach is a beach.  Nothing special, no white sands or anything, but it's useful and in a great sunny area of the peninsula.

Onto the hurricane:

So my travelling partner, my best friend and I had an additional leg of our journey to Nassau Bahamas planned.  But we got hurricaned out.  We lost so much money on airfare, and unused hotel rooms (god, always get teh insurance!), etc.

This is where Bahia Mar really stepped it up.  Literally everything was closed in Fort Lauderdale.  No one was stepping foot outside for three days.  There was a gas shortage and people were knifing people over gas and bottled water.  We were freaked out!

Bahia Mar gave us four full meals every single day for three days.  Amazing breakfast, will omelets, cereals, all kinds of meats, pancakes occasionally, etc.

They gave us awesome deli sandwiches and soups for lunch everyday.  They had totally tasty dinners for three nights.  One night it was even a roasted pork chop.  I mean it's not like we had white bread and bologna.  They really stepped it up.  The hotel was BOOKED SOLID.  Everyone was stir crazy.  At night they came by with menus and asked if we wanted midnight snacks, or cookies or something.

They truly went out of their way to make a very scary three days pretty manageable.  Especially when we were on the top floor of a tall building with nothing but giant boats surrounding us that were teetering nearly as high up on waves as our bedroom windows.

The management heard about us getting hurricaned out of Bahamas and brought us free drink tickets to the hotel bar for each night, saying we should live it up even in the rain and gave us beach towels with the hotel name on them to remember the best of the trip and to not be too disappointed about missing the trip.  Amazing.

Not to mention that they had booked our trip for the additonal three days we didn't have any reservations for.

All the locals had fled the city days earlier and here we were, pale Bostonians stuck in a room together, fighting over a bunch of lost money from the Bahamas trip and the poor, amazing people at Bahia Mar, were like STFU Bostonians and enjoy yourselves!

If I ever venture down to get the worst sunburn of my life again, Thanks to the overwhelming sunniness that came after three days of solid hurricane action.... I will stay here and remind them how amazing they were to me.

Horrible! They downgraded our reservation without asking. The waitresses at the restaraunt never came to our table. The floors in the room were really dirty. The white sheet had black stains. The rooms were dingy and outdated. The rooms were nothing like the pictures. We talked to managment, but he didn't care. It reminded me of hotels in Mexico. The area is awesome, just stay at a different hotel in that area. This one was not good! I I would Never send friends or family there!

I really tried not to expect too much from a three-star hotel, so that's all they get.

Ryan is right, it is a great location because all you have to do is cross the bridge to get to the beach and it is straight up in front of the marina.  The pool was pretty chill, but if you don't like families or tiny children this ain't the place for you my friends!

I got into a huge argument with the manager of the hotel upon check out because some fucking dumb shits at the pool bar charged some drinks to my room.  That fucker tried to tell me what my signature looked like so I pulled out my driver's license to compare it to the receipt and it clearly held no resemblance.  I told them to view their surveillance tapes from the pool.  I didn't order those shitty drinks at those times.

The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, but the security of charging shit to my room really sucked.

Why the fuck would my midget ass drink Smirnoff or Seagrams? Bitch, please.

This is nothing more than a three star hotel - although, it is in a great location.

I got this place for $90 a night on http://priceline.com - which was a hell of a deal considering the prices that were publicly available.  Staff was extremely friend, the room was clean, has easy beach access, and a pool.

They screw you on the parking - $18 a day, but considering the deal that I got on the room, it all worked out.

You cant beat the location - right on the beach and within walking distance of Las Olas bars.  It is pretty touristy in that general area - consider taking a taxi down Las Olas to scene that can be found right in by the city - lots of bars and shops.

I don't care for the hotel but if you like looking at big beautifull yachts and being close to the beach this is the place. Some of the rolls royces of the yachting world can be found just behind this hotel . They are just incredible. Its fun just to take a walk along the docks and check them out.The beach is just across the street over a walk way which is convienent too.So I have to give them four stars for what they have around them more than what is inside.Great Location
