Oh my goodness! Gorgeous, gorgeous, and did I mention - GORGEOUS?!? The beach's sand is actually wonderful to walk in barefoot - more than I can say for the beaches down in Key West - and the low tide exposed many, many sand bars for you to walk on over to and feel as if you are right smack in the middle of the vast, wonderful blueness that is the Atlantic!
We drove into the park then turned left at the cross road. You must drive all the way down to the last parking lot and then get out onto the beach and walk all the way down to the end. You will feel the seclusion and privacy that you crave - and once you set up 'camp' underneath the leaning, swaying palm tree - all will be right in the world!
Enjoy!

My all time favorite beach! It's a bit far (2 hours from Homestead) but, in my opinion, is so worth it. With soft white sand, clear blue water, and native Florida greenery abound, this is a place you would want to take a tourist to see what our state's beaches are REALLY like. Sorry South Beach, you're dirty and icky and crowded, heh.

Love Bahia Honda for the quick snorkeling fix. I saw a little octopus when I was there. Beautiful scenery and a nice (little) walk out on the old overseas railway. I've wanted to camp there for a while, since they have those really nice cabins on the water that are quite reasonable, I hear.
It's a can't miss on your super Florida Keys vacation. :)
4 stars for a sand bar I could walk on for miles and miles. Crystal clear water, warm and not full of seaweed. Narrow beach, so plan on checking for low tide.
Also the snack shop is across from the parking lot and makes a damn fine "Round Table-style" personal pan pizza. Add a real coke in a bottle and snag a spot on a picnic bench.
P.S. They do a big Earth Day Celebration, with steel drum bans, barbecue, contests and prizes. Hoo Ray

Can't think of a better place to spend a day, a week, an eternity. I love this park, you can swim on either side of the island, I prefer the Ocean side especially at low tide when you can just lay out on the sand bar. The view from the Bahia Honda Bridge is like no other view in the Keys, As Beautiful and breathtaking as it gets here in the Keys. Great place to go Kayaking, swimming, picnic, camp. The best State Park in all of Florida in my opinion......
Actually on a key to the north, Bahia Honda is a park where you can swim, dive, snorkel, and maybe spot the elusive key deer. A lovely spot with the sense that you just discovered the place, as there are not many people around.
Gorgeous beach. Really enjoyed walking out on the old piece of highway bridge.
One of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast (listed). Chalets are available for rent if you book well ahead. Lots of Zen here. I've been back for more.
