You can never have enough good sandwich places near home.

I had some fort of red wine braised pork shoulder and the roasted beets.

The beets were awesome; simple little bit of olive oil, salt & pepper, and some form of acid (lemon juice or vinegar) that really tied them together. Heaps better than chips.

The baguette was perfectly toasted, but the pork was a tad greasy and intense, and the ratio of meat to accouterments flavor was a bit out of whack (but to be fair, this is often a good problem to have). That being said, it was still good, just not necessarily my taste. I'll order something different next time, and have full confidence that it'll be awesome.

Staff was friendly and overall vibe was great being able to pull up a stool and look out the window at the Seattle skyline. I'll definitely be back!

Love this sandwich place!  It looks like people have been complaining about the prices, but c'mon this isn't a grab n' go banh mi stand.  The ingredients are always fresh and the sandwiches made to order (which means sometimes there is a wait for your food).  They also offer more thoughtful sides that the usual housemade chips and a pickle.

I've tried a few of their sandwiches, but I find myself always coming back to the drunken chicken.  I've had authentic drunken chicken in China on several occasions, and no, it doesn't taste like their sandwich, but that's not the point.  The point is that it's delicious.  Tangy sauce, crispy moist chicken, with just enough cilantro and caramelized onions to round out the flavor.  My only complaint is that the baguette can sometimes be too hard, making it difficult to bite into.

Baguette Box buys into the whole truffle fries craze.  The truffle flavor is subtle, but it's there.  Not sure it's worth the $5 though.  I'd recommend you opt for the beet salad instead.  I'm not a beet person, but I loved anything drenched in olive oil and garlic.  Nothing fancy, but damn good.

Hot damn! This review is admittedly based on only one experience, and one sandwich - the drunken chicken, of course, like everybody else on here. But boy was it good. I'm not really sure what other people's gripe with this place is, but it's definitely worth trying out for this spectacular sandwich.

Also, bonus points for all the great dog photos on the walls.

Surprisingly, the Baguette Box has gotten better over the years.

I tried the Box when it first opened and had the Drunken Chicken sandwich but was disappointed at the amount of breading on the chicken and the heavy amount of sauce.

Well, 7 years later it is what i always hoped it would be.
The Drunken Chicken is now: properly marinated chicken in what appears to be a light corn starch coating and very little sauce. The flavors are true and now stand out independently, rather than covered by the old thick sauce.

Also tried the Crispy Tofu which was good but my only complaint is that there was no crispy, only soft tofu.

Also, what happened to the duck fat fried french fries?
The truffle fries were good but very heavy on the salt.

It is nice to see that the Baguette Box has improved for the better - this is very rare in the restaurant world.

I don't why I it took me so long to come here! Great innovative sandwiches for a really good price!

I miss my daily french baguette - one of the pleasures of living in France for the summer. For a second, this sammy took me back... that is, until the end of that first bite when the mango aioli and sauteed onions took over. Believe me, this a good thing. You'll want to try the pork loin at some point - cooked in white wine? This is not your normal pork loin sammy. The meat was much more flavorful and tender than I expected. My recommendation, start from the top of the menu and work your way down.

I can't wait to come back and try every single one. Don't think I won't! I hear you have to order the truffle fires, I haven't experienced them yet. I mean, how bad can they be?!

Relax ... with a unique baguette in hand... on the hill... now, that's a good Sunday.

Baguette Box. I love me some Baguette Box. The first time a friend introduced me to Baguette Box, I ordered the drunken chicken baguette. It was delicious. Then, I tried the crispy organic tofu with avocado baguette and I haven't had anything else since. It's like a taste of heaven when the sandwich hits my tongue. I crave this sandwich, like a pregnant woman craves pickles. When I want Baguette Box, I want Baguette Box--not Jack-in-the-Box or even a big 'ole sushi bento box--but Baguette Box.

I want to try other baguettes on the menu, but I can't seem to get away from the crispy organic tofu with avocado. I love it THAT much.

I've had their truffle fries and beet salad. Both are delicious, but are nothing without the sandwich. (I want one RIGHT NOW.)

Not only do I like the food, but I like the feel. It's very Seattle. Dogs are allowed inside, they have communal tables, and it fits with the location of both spots (Fremont and Capital Hill). I can dig it.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that the Fremont location closes at 5pm, and I wish they had more locations down south. It sucks driving up to Seattle for a sandwich--but I would for that one.

Good for Dates? A casual one.
Good for Girls' Nights? No. It's not even open.

    TRUFFLE FRIES!

My fiance' and I have eaten here a couple of times now and his choices are always better than mine! We try to order something different so we can eventually sample the entire menu but I've been failing.  I am not saying that any of my choices were bad, his were just better.  I especially liked the drunken chicken and pork sandwiches.

We never hesitate on the truffle fries.  Here, they deliver the fries while starting your order, BAD MOVE! It's hard enough sharing the fries but trying not to eat them all before your sandwich is ready...tough!

I love the location.  Peet's is right next door, PCC, Shops and Tourist Attractions all in walking distance.

    TIP:
    - They love dogs! Bring in a framed photo of your dog and they will gladly put it up in their restaurant.

I first tried the Baguette Box when it was catered at my husband's office. I had the tofu sandwich and it was incredible! If you're a tofu fan, especially if you're familiar with Whole Foods' hot bar, I recommend you try this unique concoction.

We visited a few days later to order the sandwich again, but they were out! So disappointed, because we came just for that. The girl behind the counter said they had a big lunch rush (we came for an early dinner) and they ran out.

I tried the eggplant sandwich instead, and it was pretty good, but certainly not as good as the tofu.

I can see this place getting busy, so at lunch rush I recommend getting your food to go. We did not try the famous fries, but will next time.

another one where i'd like to have given it 3.5 stars...we went back after a while & i tried their new Tuna Melt & hubby had the grilled eggplant. we also had both the green & red beet salads as well as a glass of the house wine. everything was good & the tuna melt was much better than a standard tuna melt but it was missing the 'oomph'. since this is baguette box & not any ordinary sandwich shop, i guess i have higher expectations!

One month ago an online article was released that made both me and Baguette Box very happy.

Baguette Box was happy because their Drunken Chicken sandwich was named one of America's top 10 new sandwiches.

I was happy because I'm a nerd who likes to say that he's consumed an acclaimed sandwich.

Should you like to read for yourself, the article can be found here: http://www.endlesssimm...

I had made a visit about a month before the article came out and was delighted with my experience. Crisp and flavorful chicken with a delightful glaze on a crispy french roll. A nice little cilantro kick, sweet caramelized onions, and a side of truffle fries sealed the deal. It was a real nice meal that came quick and left me satisfied.

Baguette Box sent me out the door with a smile and an online publication I'd never previously heard of made that smile a lot bigger.

By the way, I ate one of America's top 10 new sandwiches... Aren't I awesome!?!?!?

This place is definitely the Vietnamese sandwich 2.0

A modernized and fancy twist to the bánh mì that you find at your usual Vietnamese shops.

It's quite a walk from downtown but its worth it because you get to site see a little bit. It's very easy to miss this place because it is sandwiched between two other shops and this place is pretty small. Enter Baguette Box and all you see are portraits of dogs. Very cool feel to this place.

We ordered the drunken chicken to share. It does take a little while for the sandwich to prepare because the meat is made to order, yum.

We got our sandwich and the bread was warm and crispy. That first bite all you could hear was a crunch. The cilantro was paired so deliciously with the chicken and the onions was such a nice touch. The chicken is crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside.

My only regret is not ordering another sandwich or the truffle fries. I would definitely eat this everyday if I could

If you like overpriced sandwiches with almost no meat on them, $5 baskets of cold 'truffle' fries (there was not a hint of anything truffle- like on the basket I ordered), all served up with a healthy dose of bohemian superiority attitude....then this is the place for you! Oh yeah...and this great dining experience involved a 25 minute wait for a sandwich. I don't think the 'new management' is carrying the baton very well. This place used to be awesome under the prior ownership.

Great value for the amount of meat they load into a sandwich. I had the drunken chicken which was surprisingly nice and tender. It was drenched in a tangy sauce that I didn't really care for. The flavor was quite overwhelming, but definately filled me up. I was turned off by the lack of vegetables in my sandwich. The menu didn't indicate there would be any vegetables other than caramelized onions, so I can't knock them down for that.

My boyfriend had the braised pork sandwich which oozed a big pool of disgusting grease. I expected liquid juices from the braised pork, not a greasy mess that soaked up the paper lining. He also stated that the flavor was lacking. Otherwise, their fresh cut fries were delicious!

I am on a search to find the perfect truffle fries in Seattle. Being that about a week and a half ago I was in my hometown of Greenpoint, Brooklyn where I encountered the most amazing truffle fries ( I have a post on it, please read if your headed out to NY!) I am now on a journey to find a rival to what I tasted back home.

Hearing great things about Baguette Box in Capitol Hill I headed there to see what all the hype was about. Walking in you get this cozy, industrial feel accompanied by the quirkiness of cute dog paintings on the wall. They have high windows which I see as a great place to read and watch the world pass by. All the furniture ( counters, chairs, tables) were wood which I loved because I feel that sometimes furniture in an establishment can mean the difference between welcoming and harsh. This place was definitely very welcoming and laid back.

One thing that I was very impressed with was that right dab in front of you as you look at the menu Baguette Box tells you that all their proteins are provided by local farmers and actually acknowledge these farms- SCORE! I absolutely love when places do this, it really makes the consumer aware of what they are eating, where its coming from and it makes you more appreciative of what you are putting in your mouth.

The menu boasts their various freshly made sandwiches full of hearty veggies, plentiful herbs, and sauces that are made to make your culinary experience here memorable. It was very hard to make a decision as to what I wanted to order aside from the truffle fries ( that's what I came her for initially!)

I settled on the roasted leg of lamb with cucumber baguette and a side of truffle fries. The following are the reasons why I gave my rating of 3 stars rather than 4.

The sandwich over all was very delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly. It was so moist, flavorful and fell apart in your mouth. The yogurt sauce on it was a great accent that actually bought out the flavor of the lamb even more. My issue with it was that a lot of the time I felt there wasn't enough lamb. A big part of the time I was eating mouthfuls of cilantro and the pickled veggies in the sandwich- which where very yummy but where's the lamb dude?!?

Now on the reason I came here the truffle fries... The positive things that I have to say about it is that they are made fresh. REAL POTATOES!! They are thick and freshly cut, they are crispy and golden on the outside and light on the inside. They are not too greasy only a bit--- After all you cant have a good fry without the grease. What fell short to me was the truffle flavor. There were some bites of my fry where it tasted just like a plan fry and others where I tasted the truffle oil. It definitely falls short because its sprinkled with truffle oil at the end as they are being handed to the customer... maybe this is what makes it ehhh as truffle fry but awesome as a regular fry.

I will definitely be going back to update my review but for now this is what will stick with me...
I would definitely recommend it though as the fries are yummers and the sandwiches are uniquely flavored! Definitely not a quick bite it takes a while to get your food and on the day I visited there was one girl only and more than 9 customers so it took a whiiiilllleeee..... I do give props to her though she was sweating up a storm to get orders out and seemed to put lots of care in the orders she made!

oh what have you done to my lovely truffle fries? It's hard to find white truffle fries (most restaurants use black truffle oil -cheaper). So the last 2 times here, I have not been pleased. The fries are soft and floppy not crispy. And though I witnessed the generous use of truffle oil, the flavor has deminished. $5.28

The sandwiches also ok. Same good quality. Hmm... I suspect an ownership change.

We were really excited to try a nice little shop on a quick visit to town a few weeks ago but we weren't pleased - just satiated.
The staff seemed too busy to take an extra second to be friendly to a couple of first time customers.  (And no, it wasn't busy or packed in there.)
The restaurant was not child friendly.  there are no child sized portions, not kid friendly foods, and no seating for small children.

However, their sandwiches were very tasty for us and way beyond "normal" sandwiches.
I ordered the Lemongrass skirt steak and my wife ordered the drunken chicken.  We ended up switching because she wanted a little spice, which the steak had and the chicken didn't.  Both were great though and flavorful and fresh.  A side of handmade fries topped it off nicely.  My daughter stole most of them though :)  She also enjoyed her Indian Tea which held her over because we had to stop somewhere else and feed her.
It did have a simple, clean, pleasing atmosphere inside and is a great spot for sandwiches.

The truffle fries are great and the Drunken Chicken sandwich is awesome. I want to give more stars, but I feel like I don't get enough meat in the sandwich, especially considering that the bread is forgettable fluff. Still, it's definitely worth giving this place a shot, especially for the truffle fries. I think it's worth going just to pick up a batch of these sweet, crispy goodies.

You will be paying around $15-20 for a sandwich and fries, so be prepared. Not the best, but certainly above average.

Caveat: I never actually got a chance to eat any of the food, so this review has nothing to do with the quality thereof.

Reason I haven't eaten their food: total website failure. We ordered a whole mess of sandwiches on their website and received the confirmation message to pick up the food at their Capitol Hill location 30 minutes later.

So, thirty minutes later: I popped in and saw the place buzzing with lunch hour traffic, dutifully waited in line like a good sandwich shop citizen, and was flatly told by the employee taking orders that they didn't have my order and their website only worked for the Fremont location. It didn't help that our sleepy sandwich drone had the enthusiasm and empathy of an overworked prison guard who had seen one too many assholes that day.

Anywho, one star for making me feel like a rapist's asshole and totally failing as a restaurant.

At first, I balked at $7 banh mi (I'm Vietnamese - there should be a price cap on these things at $3, and that's why I think Subway is overpriced).  But decided, I'd give it a try.  Drunken chicken sounded appealing.

Verdict:  Definitely a solid lunch contender, despite the location being slightly out of downtown.  I'd definitely go again, and many times more.

Right now, thinking about the drunken chicken baguette and the truffle fries is making me salivate.

Baguette Box is one of the better sandwich places in Seattle.  I have been to both Baguette Box locations and their Pine Street location is my favorite.  They seem to stuff the sandwiches a little fuller then their Fremont location.

Truffle fries, a must have. Hot, salty and covered in truffle oil.

Like any great sandwich, they start with a great roll.  Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside.  My two favorites are the drunken chicken and the pork belly but their eggplant and feta is a vegetarian option that I also love.

The only negative is that lunch is going to cost you more then $10/person which is sometimes a deal breaker for people.

This casual sammy joint was a great find.

The drunken chicken sandwich was like eating sesame chicken on a roll with caramelized onions.  And the truffle fries...mmmmm, cooked perfectly.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the steak as there was none available that day.

Washed it all down with a ginger ale from a local soda maker.

So many other items to try.  Looking forward to getting back to Seattle soon to try more of their offerings.

These sandwiches are delicious! Each choice made my mouth water. I had the pork loin sandwich and truly enjoyed. My friends ordered the eggplant and the pork belly and both said they would highly recommend them. My friend who suggested the place recommended the tofu avocado sandwich. That is his usual and wouldn't stop talking about it (this time he branched out and went pork belly without a regret).

The American comfort food in fresh baguette with delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar and hint of a Vietnamese sub with cilantro and a couple other veggies thrown in. Can't wait to go back to try the tofu sandwich...

As others have said, the truffle fries ROCK! Definitely splurge.

We didn't partake this time, but they even have beer and wine.

I hear there is a dog park nearby so the dog theme fits, but the paintings were not my fav.

    Easy. Casual. Quick. Delicious.

Wish it was in Vancouver so I could become a regular (for those that know Vancouver, this doesn't beat Finch's, but it does come in close second, though they are very different, but still yumminess in fresh baguettes).

Every one of their eleven warm and cool gourmet baguette sandwiches sounds appealing (grilled chorizo, braised pork belly, roasted pork loin). The sandwiches ($6 - $8 each) are inspired by the flavors of Asia and the Middle East. They all seem to feature a crunchy element, inspired by the pickled veggies of banh mi. I think the meat is locally sourced but I didn't read the menu explanations carefully. They also have sides and homemade drinks.

    * Grilled lemongrass steak ($7.90): the steak was very flavorful with crunchy pickled carrots and daikon, red onion, cilantro, hoisin and peanut sauces. The meat was a bit chewy and there wasn't enough of it but I still enjoyed the sandwich, including the baguette.
    * Red wine braised pork shoulder ($6.50): I liked the braised pork better than the grilled steak; it was quite tender with a hint of red wine. I liked the crunchy pickled onions, fresh cilantro, and the spicy harissa. The thin baguette was very good, crunchy on the outside, softer on the inside, chewy and fresh.
    * Red potato salad: big chunks of potato, coated with a creamy mustard aioli, red pepper, slightly spicy, good flavor but would be better with something extra (something a little crunchy), they did add some green onion, the greens on the side didn't seem like they belonged
    * Roasted beet salad: slices of beets in a tangy vinaigrette, pretty standard, simple, plain and good

The décor is very cute, with paintings of bulldogs everywhere, high ceilings, and an open kitchen.

    Meh.
I wanted to like this place because it does sound like a 2nd wave Bon Mi type sandwich shop. And that would be great. But instead I just got a mediocre tofu sandwich with aoili and too many avos ( can there be such a thing!?). The tofu took on no flavor and was overdone. Truffle fries were subtle and I liked them that way actually. The lemon limeaide was sweet, very good. But I wasn't sure if I could get a refill? It was self- serve drinks, so does that mean I can get more? The proper ettiquite wasnt clear. Same thing with tipping: do you tip? We place our order, but seat ourselves, get drinks, clean up, etc. But, someone brings us the food. More and more places are getting this type of set up in Chicago, and what's the standard? I don't tip at McDonalds, which is more similar than not in regards to this set up...

Question: Tony, do you like root beer?

Question: Tony, have you ever shaved a gorilla?
    Answer: No

I ordered the braised pork shoulder with red wine and it was fantastic. The bread was soft and didn't destroy the top of your mouth. The pork was very flavorful. This was a damn good sandwich. I also have a special place in my heart for the french fries because they remind me of the kind my grandma used to make.

I don't know why anyone would ask if I shaved a gorilla.

My eyes are often bigger than my stomach. I'll walk into a restaurant or eating establishment starving, see delicious sounding food on the menu, and want it all. Then I'll come close to ordering in line with my desires. Wasted food usually ensues. I don't do leftovers well.

This sort of happened at Baguette Box today, but without disastrous results! I was starving and wanted more than just the Organic Crispy Tofu sandwich. I added on the red potato salad with stone ground mustard aioli as a side. It just sounded so delicious. I'd had the sandwich before but it seemed even better today - delicious avocado and cilantro laid on top of the crispy tofu. And then I got to the potato salad. It was as delicious as it sounded - and spicy and creamy, too. Just like a good red potato salad should be.

I washed it all down with San Pellegrino Aranciata while KEXP played overhead. I gazed at the dog-centric decor and left happy and full with no leftovers in sight. Success!

My friend Jeff wanted fancy sandwiches so we went to Baguette Box. Fancy sandwiches indeed, although he said his drunken chicken sandwich was half amazing and saucy, and half dry, normal fried chicken.

Considering I don't eat wheat anymore, I was pretty much limited to salads. I got the lemongrass skirt steak salad -- amazing steak, perfectly ripe avocado, and some delicious pickled veggies -- but why was it more expensive than the sandwiches? You definitely get less food.

Stopped in for lunch and had the grilled eggplant sandwich. It was fine. They have other stuff that might be tastier, but as a vegetarian I'll never know.

I thought everything was really over priced and really not that impressive after all the Hype this place has received.

Service was on point. Really nice people. Quaint place inside the restaurant.

I had the much hyped Drunken Chicken Sandwich- and it was average. It was very Short on Chicken. At $6.50- I expected a lot more in terms of food and quality. No spice and really nothing special. Reminded me of chicken nuggets on a roll. Blah.

Also had the Truffle Fries- which were good- but not worth $5. Serving was small and only the top layer of fries had any truffle flavor.

Wife had Lemongrass Steak Sandwich ($8). It was OK- better than the chicken sandwich- short on meat (again). Flavor was good on the meat. Roll was nice and fresh.

There are so many good baguette sandwiches out there (a million Banh Mi options in the ID)- I doubt I would go back to this place.

Chicken Nuggets on a Roll don't cut it in Seattle!

    Items Ordered To Go:
    - grilled 'painted hills' lemongrass steak baguette

If you do not mind LOTS of sauce and LOTS of carrots, this is a very good sandwich.  They put sliced Jalapeno peppers in there which give it a really nice spicy kick.  The meat did not have any fat on it, so that was actually nice for a change.  I say that, because it seems like every time I eat Vietnamese food, there's a lot of gristle and fat on the meat.

I also want to give this a special prop with their logo.  Apparently dogs love the sandwich too.  :)

    Totally overrated.

They're bahn mi -- except the bread isn't nearly as crusty, the staff are over 50% composed of pretentious douchebags, and they lie about being out of truffle fries.   LIE.

Oh, and the sandwiches cost like 3X as much as a good banh mi.

Despite the pretty lackadasical service and attitude we encountered when ordering, I have to admit Baguette Box can make a mean sandwich.

The Lemon Grass Skirt Steak Sandwich was the winner for me, albeit a little to greasy for my tastes.  Add an oder of truffle oil fries to the mix and you've got yourself a pretty decent lunch on/in your hands.

I'd probably give Baguette Box four stars if their was little more tenderness at the counter (honestly, our fellow customers were more cordial than the staff!?).

    Not your mother's Vietnamese sandwiches...

Let me be straightforward with the die-hard banh mi fans out there - Baguette Box's sandwiches aren't your traditional Vietnamese fare.  But they are just as delicious!  The folks at Baguette Box take the concept of banh mi and give it a tasty twist, adding ingredients like chorizo, steak, and eggplant.  In the tradition of banh mi, the sandwiches are fairly simple - I don't think you'd find more than 5 ingredients (including garnish & sauces) in each.  But rest assured that you'll find flavors and freshness aplenty.

My absolute favorite sandwich here is the drunken chicken.  It's an enormous French baguette stuffed full of crispy, lightly battered chicken chunks, fresh lettuce and cilantro, carmelized onions, and some sort of magic sauce.  Put this in my hand in the middle of a hungry workday and it'll make my afternoon.

Baguette Box also serves up some tasty-looking sides and salads.  Out of these, I've only tried the truffle fries (which unfortunately I could not distinguish from regular fries).  But I've been tempted to get the green bean salad with goat cheese.  And the crispy chicken salad looks like a delicious breadless alternative to my beloved drunken chicken sandwich.

Service here is fast and friendly.  Your sandwiches are always served with a smile!

Super bummed. Our entire office is in crunch mode and we were super excited about ordering sandwiches via their website. We went through the entire process, submitted, got a confirmation, waited 30 minutes and then went over to pick up deliciousness. Sadly -- they launched the website but never hooked up the actual store with the information and so the people there didn't get our order. It sucked.

But what made it worse? The team was completely unapologetic about the experience -- and they knew it didn't work!  We'd been craving yummy sandwiches for a while now so we decided to resubmit our seven sandwich order -- but when an additional wait time of 30+ minutes came back to us, without even an apologetic smile, we had to walk. If the team had been at all sympathetic (and maybe offered us something anything like a carrot to chew on while we waited and waited) it wouldn't have been such a disappointing experience.

Boo to folks who launch websites to take online orders but then don't bother to look at them!
