Soledad Donuts as know as Bagels "n" donuts. Now is under new owner and the test as good as the first one.
I want you to try it out.
Come and see how it when.

This place is under new ownership and they are fantastic! The donuts are always fresh and the bagels are really good. If you are looking for either one, this is a great place to grab one. They also started making bagel sandwiches, though I haven't tried them yet. My husband loves the brewed coffee -- he'll go in there just for that!

This place deserves 13 stars. 3 stars for the food and service, TEN stars for the charm.
I live in the bay area but go to school in Santa Barbara. I frequent the stretch of the 101 between those two locales, and I'd say I'm beginning to become something of a connoisseur of the "just-off-the-highway cheap eats" scene.
Now, Soledad is one of my favorite places to stop for one reason and one reason only. As the inviting billboard heralding your arrival to the city proclaims, "It is HAPPENING in Soledad." That's why I stop at that Starbucks, and that is how I discovered the doughnut shop next door.
Let me start off by getting something clear. The address I listed is merely an approximation based on the address for said neighboring Starbucks. The B 'n' D doesn't HAVE a listed address, like any respectable business. Not that I'm judging them for that. In fact, I don't want them to have an address. They need to establish more important facts about their business first. Like the name.
The sign outside says "Bagels n' [sic] Donuts [sic]," but the business cards inside say "Donuts [sic] 'n [sic] Bagels." In other spots around the store, the punctuation surrounding the "n" varies, but amazingly, its never correct.
I should be fair though, the donuts they have there are great, and the little Asian lady behind the counter is always friendly (once she gave me a french cruller for the same price as a regular donut!!!). I don't think I've ever seen a bagel there, so they may be guilty of false advertising, but I only show up in the afternoon. Maybe it's a morning thing.
The only times I've ever been disappointed with Bagels 'n' Donuts were the three times it was closed when I showed up. All three times were during regular business hours, but hey, the door was locked and the lights were off, so I was outta luck. To be fair, two of the times they left a note. Granted, both times it was the same note describing an urgent family emergency. This lowers the little Asian lady's credibility a bit, but I'll be DAMNED if it didn't drastically increase this place's charm.
So anyway. That's all I got. If you're ever rolling through the most happening city in the world, check out the BnD/DnB, for some great friggin' donuts. Assuming there's no family emergencies. -

The donuts are good, but you have to get passed the fact that the place always looks like its about to go out of business. They only accept cash, which sucks because I never carry cash, and I have never seen any bagels there.
Sadly, it's the only donut shop in town.
