Note- I understand that it has different owners than the original Tim.
We went in around 10:30 the other day (a Friday) and looked over what was left. Several of the bins held a single "representational" bagel at the front that looked better than what they were actually selling at the back. The poppy seed and sesame bagels looked like they were made with half the dough- they looked like "skinny" bagels, and, worse yet, the back of the plain bin held about two dozen bagels that had been so overcooked that they actually looked like pumpernickel (that is probably why it was the most filled bin of the bunch at that time of the morning). No doubt other customers had decided overcooked bagels at $1.60 a pop weren't appetizing.
Look, it's not impossible that someone accidentally overcooked a batch, but what that is telling to me is that the current owners had so little pride in their product (and so little respect for their customers) that they still decided to put them out there rather than toss them out and start over.
All in all, the "representational" bait and switch bagels, the "skinny" undersized bagels, and the "we-burn-'em-but you-buy-'em" bagels all tell a lot about what the business is all about. Nope.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 23, 2019
Located in a strip mall, there is plenty of parking, but everything is across a travel lane. The handicapped parking is also across a travel lane, so you'll have a short walk to the business.
Inside, there is seating for maybe 20. There is a coffee station on the left wall. The counter where you order is in the rear, with the menu board high on the wall behind. There are also daily specials listed so take your time. The bagel display case is next to the ordering station, so you can see what is available. The bagels are all made in-house so you can be sure of the freshness. One thing I found immensely pleasing is the bagels have "topping" on both top and bottom! There is no top or bottom, just a great bagel.
We were there for breakfast, so egg sandwiches were ordered in various combinations. The eggs were cooked to order, and all other components were fresh and hot. It took about 15 minutes to get our order. The bagels are soft and dense throughout. You can bite into them without a hard crunchy top squeezing all the ingredients out. This was probably the least messy bagel sandwich I have ever eaten.
The staff were all friendly and they have a good assortment of bagels and cream cheese flavors. I am excited to return here for lunch. I could probably spend a week working through various breakfast and lunch combinations without wanting anything else. The bagels are delicious by themselves, and are worth the trip alone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amy G.Apex, NC98915Sep 26, 2020
We went late this morning and there were only a few bagels left. It seems like the air conditioner broke on them and maybe they were short staffed. They only had 3 people working. Only one wearing a mask (properly) was the kitchen cook. She was sweating heavily but still managed to wear it while the younger buff gentleman and the older gentleman couldn't be bothered. Other signs to display their beliefs throughout the store as well.
As for the food... breakfast Sammy was 5/10. I got onion bagel, bacon egg and cheese and my husband got it on a poppyseed bagel. Just ok, not the best bagel I ever had or the worst. Eggs were done really well.
Maybe an off day, but I personally wouldn't go back given the first half of my review.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karen F.Greensboro, NC84116336May 21, 2020Updated review
It's been over 6 yrs since I last reviewed Tims' Bagels, even though I've made plenty of visits since then. The place has had a few different approaches in that time, but always stayed true to having the best bagels in the area. That's still the case! The staff is friendly and helpful; they are glad to make extra cuts in the bagel to make it easy to eat while on the road. I'm also glad to note that their social media presence has increased, and more folks are learning about this wonderful little shop. Try the cranberry orange cream cheese on a multigrain - it's awesome.

Bagels are made on the premises, and you can buy one or a dozen. Every time I stop in, locals are eating there, which is a good sign. Their menu selections are basic, but what they do tastes great.
Jan 1, 2014Previous reviewThey have a new (previous) owner (Tim J.) and he's using his prior store name, after subsequent operator ran business poorly and it closed. Locals are glad he's back and it's reopened! They offer 12+ bagel varieties made daily on the premises, with plain and flavored cream cheese to choose from. Mine was soft and tasty, with a liberal amount of flavorful cream cheese.
While I was there, plenty of people came in ordering breakfast sandwiches (on bagel or bread). The staff is super friendly and will accommodate different needs (i.e., egg whites only, etc.) . The mainstay is their bagels, but they offer egg platters and "sandwedges" (ie., sandwiches) in wraps and traditional bread of your choice for lunch.
There are 5-6 tables with chairs inside, or you can get your order to go. Prices are reasonable for the beach area, and the serving size is generous. Located at the intersection of 179 & 904 between SB and OIB, so convenient for the area. - Patrice J.Ocean Isle Beach, NC0153Apr 10, 2022
Hate that Tim sold his place. The unfortunate part is the new owners didn't continue with his recipe. The bagels are not great. The everything bagel has very little seasoning on just one side, Tim's had quite a bit on both sides. I did call and ask if they were using Tim's recipe, I was told they changed it a little.... WHY???? Don't fix what's not broken. Every Sunday morning a Tim's bagel is our routine, which is now so different. New owners.... Use Tim's recipe!! Your bagels are tasting like everyone else's.

Great everything bagels! Always good service with a smile. I honestly have only had their bagels so I can't comment on the rest of the food but I go out of my way just for bagels.

Best bagels in the South. We retired here 10 years ago and we don't go anywhere for bagels other than Tim's place. The everything bagel is incredible. Five Star.
