My five star rating is solely for the bagels because honestly when you go to a place named "bagel world" you go for the bagels and not the service. With that said, the bagels are fresh and delicious. Their customer service...not so much.

merp. I'm probably going to be banned from Peabody for panning this place, but I just wasn't impressed. The line wasn't too long (thank god - considering it was a Tuesday at 10am...) and I ordered a sausage-egg-and-cheese on a toasted sesame bagel.
The bagel was delish -- as it should be from a place called BAGEL world! But the egg weirded me out. It was basically two eggs over easy tossed in a microwave until the yolk is cooked through. The yolk part was partially translucent and partially opaque -- just not appetizing at all. It looked old, blech.
Flavor-wise, the sausage was good, the cheese was good, the bagel was good, the egg was blahhhh. And not just because of the looks, it was really just not that good.
Regardless -- I got a half-dozen bagels to take home and can't wait to eat them... with cream cheese. -

I am a Jew and I have the circumcision to prove it. Of course so do most of my friends and they aren't all Jews so in fact that proves nothing.
Just as saying that you grew up in NY or NJ and have had perfect bagels your whole life so you are in fact a bagel expert and the rest of us wouldn't know a good bagel if we had one land right on our circumcised private parts.
So what's the bottom line here? Why do NY bagels taste so Goddamn good and MA bagels don't? It's the water people! NY water is better than our water because their water has candy in it! ....And I see dead people.
A good bagel must be made on the premises and be fresh. It must be dense. It should be somewhat crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. If it was freshly baked and warm that wouldn't hurt either.
Bagel world's bagels are all these things. They are as close to a NY bagel as I've ever eaten up here.
It's bizarre really. In NY you can't get the fried clams with the bellies. We can't get the Jewish Deli's they have. We're 4 friggin hours away. How is that possible? It's retahded!!! They have clams there. We have Jews here!
WTF is the big deal!
Anyway The perfect bagel also must have taste and toppings. So if I order a poppy seed bagel. I want tons of those little black dots all over the bagel and in it. I want to taste Sesame Seeds and have them everywhere. I want my raisins to be doused and drowned in Cinnamon.
Bagel World is all these things.
The have LOX spread and NOVA. For you Goyim out there that is smoked salmon and any bagel place that doesn't have it is NOT a bagel place at all.
My perfect bagel:
Toasted Poppy Seed with cream cheese, butter, NOVA bermuda onion and a thick slice of tomato.
Bagel World has this. It is a great place.
I know this of course because I'm a Jew from NY and we need more Bagel Worlds and MORE Jewish deli's because I still miss my Knish, Chopped Liver, Matzoh Ball soup and Stuffed Derma.
Christ it's only 4 hours away.Listed in: Should Have Been ROTD.

Peabody, MA
This small bagel store is located on Sylvan street (Peabody/Danvers) line. The parking can be tight and the lot is a bit worn. There is usally a line out the door during busy times which is good sigh .
There is a reason why this place is Called Bagel World because they have excellent bagels that are made fresh right in the back and are being made continusly . They make many flavors such both sweet and savory.
The coffee is not as good as the bagels it is low quality and week.
Service can be a little disorganized keep in mind this is not Starbucks! -

Danvers, MA
Great bagels, but this place is a complete zoo on the weekends. The place is also ugly inside and they have way too many people working the front counter so operations seem like a mess. I'll keep going back because the bagels are outstanding, but don't expect a quaint or cute breakfast restaurant here because you won't find that.

Bellingham, MA
I went in at 5:30 am so no line or a problem parking. I got the everything bagel that I thought had too much salt on it. The real problem I have is the shape of the bagel, it has a larger diameter so that when it is sliced open it has no thickness to it. I didn't watch them spread the cheese on but when I unwrapped the paper it looked like it was smeared on one half and put back together with the other toasted half, I hate when places do that. The coffee was awful, not only was it weak and watery but also tasted like soap or chemicals or both. Located about a minute up Endicott street exit off route 128.

Bagel World is awesome. I love a toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox. This location is better than Bagel World II, in my opinion, because the line is usually shorter.
Fast cheap food. Delicious. -

Bagels are just- awesome. This is a sister store to the Salem and Reading locations. Waited over 30 mins for a bagel the other day. They are that good! Love the chocolate chip, everything, sesame, all of them! Pumpkin coffee is delicious too!!!
This place needs to clone itself for more locations. I would eat a bagel sandwich at dinner if it was open. -

Downgrading for something I witnessed this weekend. I go in about an hour before closing and one of the workers starts sweeping down the bagel area ..... with a dustpan broom. I'm sort of skeeved out by it but was thinking.... well maybe it's just for the bagel area...... and then SHE PUTS IT ON THE FLOOR when she moves the bagel bins.... and starts sweeping the bottom and around bins with bagels in it. ....... luckily my bagel was already out and being made into a amazing garden salad sandwich...... but I am grossed out and not sure when I'll go back after seeing that.

I spent a lot of mornings at the Bagel World next to Salem State while a student there and very rarely come to this location but found that even right before closing the team is efficient and friendly.
I walked in at 3:20 and realized soon after that they closed at 3:30. Even so there were customers behind me and still a few lingering at the dine in tables. The staff didn't try to push anyone out or even make mention of how close closing time was.
They took care in making my BLT and took the time to even correct an order in front of me that was off just a bit, and all done with a smile.
This location is much smaller then the Salem one but the staff is just as wonderful and the quaint setting makes it feel like an even smaller family business. -

Verklempt About My Jew Pride
Accidental gersplukening upon Bagel World by the grace of Bette and Barbara caused a conniption like when Moshe found pennies in the floorboards.
Brutally honest wid ya, "NY style bagels" are in Jersey, talk amongst yourselves!. Over the years, bagels in the city became puffy, lightweight Wonder Bread Donuts. Everyone who claims NY bagels are the best JUST MOVED THERE FROM THE MIDWEST!. Bagels, they gotta be CHEWY 'N' DENSE, BABY!
Unfortunately the bagels at Bagel World, while very appetizing to look at, are on the softball side of the spectrum. The lox and cream cheese sandwich was $4.66 (the most extravagant item on the menu) but dwarfs any bagel sandwich you've seen. Hellava lotta smoked salmon. 2 egg sandwich is all of $1.57. Plus tax, hey hey, don't leave the change purse in the car. I demolished it but wish it had more chat 'n' chew. Perhaps more toasting will coax the gluten to tighten more? Wishful. Perhaps Moshe will treat us next time? Doubtful.
I'll give it 4 stars for very authentic prep. Boiled, not steamed like DD, and the real bagel oven. It *feels* Jewish even though the staff seems Greek. Perhaps bagels were easier than opening a diner? (Another NJ specialty, the grand highway diner.)
But what put it over the top today was seeing a grumpy bagel awaiting customer proudly displaying his "Don't worry America, Israel is behind you!" T-shirt replete with a Israeli A.F. spec F-16 Falcon tightly stretched over his bagel-induced pooch. And then someone's cell phone went off. The ringtone? Fiddler On The Roof. Oh Vey!
I can't wait to tell my Mohel about this! -

There are a number of things wrong with this place. Parking is sometimes a problem, there's often a long line waiting for service, and if you want to eat there, you may have a problem getting a table. The dining area is not large and not particularly pleasant, especially on a cold day by the large, uninsulated windows.
But there's one thing really right about this place : the bagels and the sandwiches made from those bagels! -

LOVE bagel world!
Turkey, lettuce, cheese, mayo and bacon on a toasted garlic bagel. Yuuuppppppppp.
Advice: (don't tell anyone!) You can call in your order ahead of time and go pick it up without waiting in line. ;0) -

Parking at this location is pretty decent...if you can get around the retards coming onto Sylvan Street from 114. If you can't parrallel park, don't even bother. There's a 100% view of the parking lot from almost every corner of this deli, so that dent you put in the Beamer outside ain't going unnoticed!
But really...BEST BAGELS HANDS DOWN. i don't care what you New Yorkers say. They're just not even comparable.
Everything is always fresh here. I know you know what I"m talking about when you walk into a deli and you can see the old...clear colored crap around the tuna and chicken salad. ugh! Not here. -

Best bagels in town, by far!
I brought these bagels into work the other day, and they were a huge hit! Everyone loves this place. Not only are the bagels cheap, but they're seriously good.
They also have incredible sandwiches for 3.00 - 4.25. And, their coffee and smoothies (Maui) are also excellent.
Be prepared to wait, though. Unfortunately, it's a popular place, and I've waited for up to 15 minutes to get through the line.
It's totally worth it.Listed in: Shop Local

Although a bit out of the way coming from Cambridge, it was a fun trip on my way to an event. I like this place! The bagels are very fresh! But make sure that you get a good combo - I wasn't as impressed by the french toast bagel as I thought, and the walnut raisin creamcheese was just okay.
However, I love their iced chai! Definitely a must! It has just enough flavor and sweetness. I got a dozen bagels, and so far am very impressed by the energy bagel and the veggie. Would definitely make the trip back! Yum! -

Salem, MA
The only reason why the place stays in business is because of the quality of the bagels. They're great! Unfortunately, the service isn't the same. You'll wait quite a long time on a busy day to get to the front of the line. I don't understand why the owners don't tell the employees to work faster instead of holding long conversations with one another while making orders. I was quite disturbed one day when I went to use the restroom and noticed a few mouse traps. Apparently they have mice problems.

As good as it gets. If you're on the North Shore, you gotta go! French Toast bagel with Walnut Raisin Cream Cheese...the best.

Great bagels, but this location is not as nice as the Salem one. Here the staff always seems cranky and apparently the store doesn't carry "real" butter. The woman who served me said it was real, but I could tell it was margarine. I hate margarine! I would have ordered cream cheese if I had known ahead of time. Minus one star for lying to me.

Best bagels and bagel sandwiches around. I always get an onion or a garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese and bacon - they make these amazing circular bacon patties that fit perfectly on the bagel so you get bacon in every bite! Make sure to call in your order ahead so you dont have to wait in line - just walk in and go right up to the register on the left hand side.

Meh? I don't see the big deal. I waited in a ridiculously long line for an ok sandwich while one girl was making sandwiches and running the cash register and the rest of the employees were leisurely doing what looked like nothing in the open kitchen. Eventually our lone sandwich maker was joined by another employee and service got better, but the bitterness built up during 20 minute wait had already ruined what I was hoping to be a pretty amazing culinary experience based on the love this place gets on Yelp. Add to this that the dining area was pretty filthy and I'm not running back to this place. And I'm not even faulting them for the dirty floor. After all, it's winter and we all track dirt in wherever we go, but the napkins, wrappers, half-empty abandoned drinks, and uncleaned tables don't exactly scream ambiance. As a believer in second chances, I'm not swearing off Bagel World, but I am far more likely to a little out of my way to hit up Perfecto's than go here again.

Bagel heaven best describes Bagel World. They have many flavors, and they also make breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The ingredients are fresh, and the food is made right in front of you by a really nice group of people.
The prices are incredible. You can get 2 sandwiches, a large coffee, 6 bagels to go and a tub of cream cheese for under $20! Yes, we OD on bagels when we visit the store!
The one negative, and this is a direct result of the overall awesomeness of the place, is the line. It is incredibly long, especially on weekends. If you go an off hour during the week, say 1pm on a Tuesday then you won't encounter a line. But, if you're like most people and really just have time on the weekend, you are sure to find a line. A very long line. Sometimes it goes fast, but most times it's pretty slow. I average about 15 minutes in line per visit. Other locations have a drive-thru, but that is just as bad. I think we waited 35 minutes (insane, I know!) one day in the rain in that drive-thru line at the Reading location.
I definitely recommend this place, it is well worth the wait. Just be prepared to stand there for longer than your normal bagel place. -

I cannot possible give Bagel World a higher rating. Their bagels are so incredibly good, as are their cream cheeses, they're really fresh and taste amazing. And a bagel with cream cheese is a whopping 1.43! Their prices are much less than Dunkin Donuts, and the quality is a lot higher. Their "iced cappucino" is cheap and tasty. The line can get long, but it's *so* worth it.

Bagel world is excellent, GREAT PRICES, AND HUGE SANDWICHES! Their egg sandwich is moist, unlike Dunkies eggs which are dry and tasteless. Workers there are very polite. A local favorite!!!!!!!
