Bagel Palace's are the best bagels I've had so far in the A. (I haven't tried Goldberg's yet...) I just went in to pick a half dozen and I finished one in the car on the way home, sans schmear. (A really great bagel, in my opinion, needs no topping.)

The bagels are perfectly chewy in the way they're supposed to be and a half dozen ran me just over five dollars. (Student discount, too! Very exciting.) I'll definitely be swinging by Bagel Palace fairly frequently.

The atmosphere isn't super great, so I don't know if I'd do brunch here, though it sounds like the knishes, french toast, etc. are also very good.

I'm actually a big ole Jew at heart and I'm dubious as to how I just now realized that this place existed. I worked at Manhattan (originally NY) Bagel for 4 years so I know what a real NY bagel tastes like and how it's prepared. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on my ever-coveted everything bagel, it was delish, I prefer I fried egg but got a grilled egg patty which is still okay....I didn't feel like I was at McDonald's  or even Einstein Bagel.

I also ordered the uber-oily potato knish but it was just to-die-for yummy, I'll be back just for one of those. Unfortunately the girl who took my order neglected to even acknowledge my order of the potato knish, and I had to wait an additional 6 minutes after I got my order....also, come to find out, when I get home, was dissapointed to open up a plain bagel with plain cream cheese when it was actually suppose to be an everything bagel with cream cheese. I would say that the goods they serve are on point like no other,  but the service could improve, I never stuttered, there's no reason to have such discrepancies between me and the girl who took my order....luckily for them though, due to the goods, have gained a customer for life :)

My brother & sister-in-law used to come here all the time when they moved to Atlanta but had never taken me. We went this weekend and, being a NY/NJ/CT area group of people, we were quite impressed.

We started with a fried potato knish - just like we used to have back home! - but VERRRY oily. When you cut into it, you could see the oil. Still, quite tasty!

We each got some sort of bagel sandwich as our main meal:

I did a tuna melt on an everything bagel - WHOA NELLY. This was fantastic. I devoured the entire thing, as well as the majority of my potato salad.

My fiance got an egg/turkey sausage/cheese sandwich on an everything bagel and also ate it all.

My sister-in-law got egg salad on a rye bagel - clean plate! And my brother got the whitefish on an everything bagel.

Although fairly pricey, the food is very good and the bagels are almost like NY bagels! Great for transplanted Northeasterners!

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place until now! Anytime I'm in the Toco Hills area I "try" to make myself hungry if the Bagel Palace is open. Seriously.

I could live off of their Whitefish Salad and challah bread. I love the take-away pastry options and of course you can't forget the bagels. Some of the best roast beef sandwiches I've ever had too.

As others have said their breakfast hours are the busiest and service can be rushed to slow. Just go in knowing that if you are there during those times and you'll be fine.

So one morning, my roommates and I were in search of breakfast. Not wanting the general greasiness of Waho or the long lines of the Original Pancake House, we opted for the Bagel Palace, a little place in Toco Hills we'd never visited.

It. Was. Fantastic!

Now, this was about two years ago and I've been back many, many times since. The first thing I tried were the potato latkes with both sour cream and applesauce. They were wonderful--almost as good as those my childhood friend's mother made so long ago. They are a bit pricey for the amount, so while delectable now I usually go for a potato or spinach knish, which are equally amazing, especially when smothered in spicy mustard.

The bagels, of course, are great. My standard is an everything bagel (toasted, please) with either  herb cream cheese or egg and melted muenster.

Another favorite--the stuffed challah french toast. It's a massive portion (I've always got at least half to take home) of french toast filled with cream cheese and strawberries or blueberries. Really decadent and excellent to share.

There hasn't been one time I've been unsatisfied by the Bagel Palace. The waitstaff are generally friendly and as attentive as they can be in such a busy atmosphere. Also, there's a beautiful and large assortment of fresh bakery goods at the front register, but unfortunately I'm usually too full to even think about getting anything else. I have tried their thin chocolate chip cookies, though, and like I said....really good. Reallllllllly good.

Ick! After returning to Atlanta from a trip to Diner Land in New Jersey, I was craving the delicious matzo ball soup I had eaten up north. So I came to the Bagel Palace. I was sorely disappointed. The soup was greasy, bland, and the matzo ball was soggy.  My sandwich was just ok, but the whole restaurant smelled like a nursing home, which RUINED any hopes of enjoying my lunch. I got a bagel to go, so I could be fair in my review--and that was sadly average, as well.

We came here for breakfast and I thought everything we got was pretty good. Their lox was top notch although a bit overpriced from their deli in my opinion.

Now the real reason I came here was to find my long lost pastrami on rye that was left behind at Canters in LA when I moved out east. Bagel Palace didn't live up to my expectations, but I would go back here and recommend you give it a shot. Its the closest thing I've found to a NYC deli in Atlanta so far.

Surprisingly tasty bagels and hash browns.  This place is very unassuming from the outside (and hidden inside a strip mall).  I was not expecting the deliciousness contained within.  They have lots of different varieties of bagels and just as many different kinds of spreads (my favorite is the cinnamon raisin).  You can also get bagel sandwiches, with things like egg on them, and that's tasty as well.  And don't forget the amazing hash browns for a side order!  Great little hidden gem.

I went there today, for the possibly hundredth time, and had lunch. I've had both breakfast and lunch here - multiple times each and I have to say that your dining experience depends on many things (other than the food).

Let me explain: There is a waitress that is simply horrible. No, she does get the order right, but she's not friendly. She's curt, brusk, and just simply not very likable. However, the rest of the waitstaff are simply wonderful people.

Breakfast: Eggs and Bagels are some of the best I've ever had. Everything else is pretty (good) standard. However - they serve breakfast all day (that they're open)! Hurray for that! My favorite breakfast menu item is cream-cheese-scrambled-eggs on a bagel. Talk about heart attack on a plate - but it's just soooo good! MMmmmm!

Lunch: I think I've tried most everything on the menu (that I can eat - I don't eat pork or beef) and I have NOT ONCE been disappointed with my food. I especially love their chicken salad sandwiches, but basically everything is great.
Their potato salad is different - not bad - just different, and takes some getting used to. The pickles are different too - not like what you'd find in the grocery store, but I assume it has something to do with kosher and Jewish brine. I don't know, I'm not Jewish - I wish I was, but I'm not.
The cole slaw, fruit bowl, and pasta salad sides are all delicious.

I would not recommend stopping by on a weekend morning - they are going to be jam packed and it will be unpleasant. Mornings in general are going to be busy (with the work crowd) but it dies down eventually, and brunch/lunch are good times to stop in. Proportions are good and prices are reasonable. How can you argue?

It is very expensive. BUT their bagels are so excellent. If you are an addict for good bagels, this is one of the best places in atlanta. So if you also have a student ID from a university in GA you get a small discount.

Bagel Palace is a great place to break your fast if you are looking for a place that makes you feel like you are home.  Especially if you are a yankee.  Especially if you are from New York.  Triple that if you are Jewish as well.......

You know a place is worth going if you can never get in without a wait.  The prices are reasonable, the service is fast, and the food is very tasty.  I like particularly the omelets.  Coffee is the standard diner coffee - nice, but not strong enough to shock your system into 100% efficiency.  Bagels are delicious and not at all like those chew all day ones you buy in a bag at the grocery store.

If Bagel Palace was a little closer to the house, we'd go more often.

Ok....  I'm Jewish.  North Jersey born and raised.

This is by far my comfort food in Atl.  An egg bagel with whitefish....  Cole slaw, pickles....  Just thinking about it....  I want it now.  Service?  Never had an issue.  It is a deli not a gourmet event.  I always get my food fast, done right, and when I pay at the counter the people always ask about me.  Buy a T-shirt too, no really.

I love Bagel Palace.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (Bagel Palace Edition)

The Good:
The bagels are pretty darn good (REALLY good for Atlanta bagels).
I absolutely LOVE their olive cream cheese.
The sandwiches (at least the ones I've tried) are pretty darn good.
It's a Jewish deli that's actually owned and run by *gasp* Jewish people.
The bakery case is a treasure trove of delights.

The Bad:
The service can be hit or miss.
They use yucky "Royal Cup" foodservice coffee.
It's really darn packed on weekend mornings.

The Ugly:
The matzo ball soup comes pre-made from a package.  No, I am not kidding (I have seen the package).  This is why they are getting a "3" from me instead of a "4".  You ought to be ashamed, people.

A Princess needs her Palace, and sometimes she also needs her bagels. And eggs. With cheese. And maybe some sliced tomatoes . . .

Last weekend, the Boy and I ventured a few miles from his house to brunch at Bagel Palace. It had been awhile since I'd been to this spot but it was good as always. The same waitress who's been there forever and a day, and who is always just a tad cranky/snarky, attended to us, and the Palace was good-as-ever. Service - good! Food - great! Tummies - happy!

We both got bagel sandwiches, egg and meunster cheese. His was ordered with sausage and mine with extra tomato. I also got a couple of my childhood fave thumb-print cookies (one chocolate, one vanilla), which were super delicious. We got plenty of water and diet coke refills, didn't linger that long but never felt rushed out like you can some places.

We'll be back to the Palace, no doubt!

I have been craving Bagels and Jewish cuisine ever since I fractured my leg. Not sure why. I wanted Matza Bri but they did not have it so I  had  an everything bagel which was just ok. The  ham and cheese omlette was great. They forgot my side of bacon. Their Coffee was good but I think they should have Sugar canisters not little packets of sugar as they never have enough on the table and I hate to ask for more.
Their Sweet tea was on the cusp of being acceptale. The service was great. So an extra star*

IMO, probably the best real jewish bagels in GA.  Coming from the North Jersey area, bread in general in Atlanta sucks.  Seriously.  Same for the bagels.  Einsteins is no better than the crap you can buy at Kroger.

The bagel palace on the other hand is probably the only exception. The food is reasonably priced, but the service can be hit or miss.

It does get crowded and that's where things really slow down.  It can take a while with larger groups.  The coffee is awful.  Good place for kids.  We go here often and I highly recommend it.

I lived in Atlanta from 2002 to 2005 and man do I miss bagel palace!   While I admittedly haven't been there in a while, I would give my right arm for chicken salad on a plain bagel toasted with lettuce and tomato right now!!!  Seriously, they have the best chicken salad that I've ever tasted in my life.  Oh, and their cookies are good too!

I've got to give them 5 stars because for bagels and Jewish deli fare in Atlanta this is as good as it gets! The service was spot on and surprisingly we didn't even have to wait for a table. We always had a full cup of coffee, the portions were nice, but not too crazy and their nova was fresh and delicious. Steven got a bagel egg sandwich and he said it was great. They have great cookies and I walked away with a raspberry Hamantaschen cookie, fresh light cream cheese and chopped liver, yay!

Moving from LA to the ATL meant I had to find myself a good Jewish deli, and fast. Bagel Palace was my answer. The good news is that the deli is my go-to place for (you guessed it) bagels. They're probably the best I've had in Atlanta, and I'm picky. There's no whipped cream cheese here though, and that's a shame! It's also nice to know that I can order other standby favorites: Reuben sandwiches, latkes, blitzes, homentaschen (poppy seed!), matzah ball soup. I wish the food better replicated some of the LA deli fare, but for this city you might say this is about as good as it gets. Prices are great, portions are huge and they even have a student discount.

If for no other reason that the salt bagel, I would run to this place any time to eat. I had a salt bagel when I was in New York City last, and it was a bittersweet treat, because I knew I wouldn't be able to find one in Atlanta. But... I took a chance and stepped into this place only to find that THEY HAVE SALT BAGELS!!!

Needless to say, I will probably never have anything other than that, because of my deep love of salt bagels, but I can definitely say one thing: the salt bagels are ROCK!!!!! I will definitely be frequenting this place in the future.

I may have to check out the TONS of fresh baked goods though... This place is a treat!

When we arrived, I wasn't even sure it was open, as the blinds make it appear an empty space. When I entered the deli, I looked around, and the food looked appetizing so we decided to stay. I was disappointed, however, to see that there was Batampte products vs. homemade pickles.

Raised in the north, I've had amazing Jewish food, and I am half Jewish heritage, so you could say it's in my blood to enjoy it. There's nothing better to me than a lox bagel for breakfast.

I thought the atmosphere needed some updating in terms of interior decoration and maintenance, and it seemed somewhat dirty inside. The waitress was very friendly, but the service was somewhat slow. For the money, I thought the portion serving was somewhat small. Honestly, I've had better lox bagels at the Einstein's on Monroe. But, they did offer choices you can't find at other local spots like sable and kippered salmon.

Overall I'd give it a 3 for average, but its not something I'd recommend.

More like 3.5.  But what do I know... I'm not Jewish.  The initial service was a little brusque but warmed up, and my girlfriend and I got a window seat on a beautiful day in Toco Hills.  The world was our oyster, and not even $4 gas could ruin that.

Started with coffee - didn't really taste Jewish.  Then had potato latkes (yummy, and possibly even better than mine), and whitefish on a bagel.  And I thought, "my south Georgia grandmother would be appalled at the idea of eating fish for breakfast", but it was pretty darn tasty, unfamiliar as I am with the idea.  When we ordered a potato knish, pastrami sandwich, and nova lox and a bagel, the waitress told us that was too much food and to try again (which was very helpful, BTW, more waitrons should do that...), so we opted for the knish and pastrami sandwich.  My girlfriend said the pastrami was only so-so, but she's Jewish and lived in NYC for a while, and probably using an unfair yardstick.  But I agreed - I have had better pastrami, even here in ATL.  But the knish was the find of the morning - fried, dense potatoe-y goodness... even my grandmother would approve of that.

So much to choose from on their menu... damn its a lot to think about!
I love pretty much any sandwich with meat surrounded by bagel, so this place is always a good call.

Salt bagels are near the top of my favorite list, along with multi-grain, but I'm sure all their varieties are tasty.

They have a great assortment of breakfasts too, my wife's french toast looked absolutely excellent.

They have pastries too, tempting you as you wait in line to pay your bill. Pick up some brownies, you'll thank me. It took two sittings to eat mine, it was so rich.

A restaurant, take out deli, and bagel bakery inthe middle of Toco HIlls Shopping Center, in the middle of Atlanta, in the middle of Georgia, in the middle of the Deep South!!!!!!  who would have known...

Try their bagels, lox, nova, matzo ball soup, white fish, omlettes, and cheese sticks!

Now that I 'm in Boston I 'm wondering where it's equivalent is (in one location) there was Zathmary's but it's gone, there's B&D but that's not it either....

I haven't been there since I moved away but at that time the service was solid...which means it could be again

Service is not stellar, better than average - but they have so many people coming and going I would sacrifice service for their efficiency. You wouldn't really go here to leisurely read the paper on a Sunday morning but rather to eat some carbs, drink some coffee and get over your hangover.

Like Bill S said, there is SO much to choose from on this menu. From omelettes to french toast to traditional Jewish fare - and pretty much everything comes with a bagel on the side. There are a gazillion types of cream cheese to pair with the assortment of bagels.

I'm pretty stoked - I just got a coupon in the mail for half a dozen free bagels with the purchase of an entree!

The neighborhood smiles with a bag of bagels and side of lox!

Your day is sure to get a little bit better when you stop in the Bagel Palace to grab a quick breakfast or lunch.

They have plenty of regulars, the whole time I was sitting and enjoying my egg-ish and fresh bagel sandwich the silence was interrupted with the curly grey haired woman owner waving goodbye - "See you soon!" and "You guys have a good day now!"

The regulars know to take a seat at the purple tables and order from the waitress to dine in; to dine out, you walk across crumbed purple and white linoleum floors to the counter below the neon red lit sign "BAGELS".

They offer more than just lox and bagels, lots of women were eating Ruben- Corned Beef sandwiches with whole pickles or Hebrew National Salami on rye.

And grab a container of sugared-buttered-iced cookies on the way out.

Whenever I mention deli, people inevitably bring up Bagel Palace. I have honestly never been crazy about it. Well, I went back after a few years away to see if I was missing something. We were lucky and got there right before the lines started forming. It only took a brief exchange with our waiter to realize he was in over his head. He ran off to tend to another table while we decided on our order. Ordering was bit frustrating and troublesome because it took him 3 tries for him to write down our order of latkes, matzoh ball soup and a corned beef and pastrami sandwich on un-toasted rye. I thought to myself that they must be short-staffed and brushed it off. But the worry turned to dread as soon as I saw the looks on my neighbors' faces. I was having brunch in the middle of one big clusterf**k.

After a good 15 minutes, our soup arrived. Moon had no silverware and tried to flag down our server, but got up after five minutes to ask a waitress who handed him a teaspoon. As I was eating what has to be the blandest and saddest matzo ball soup I have had in a long time, I spied a food runner come out with our order, which our server nervously sent back. My heart sank. That food was officially on its way to reheatville and its homecoming was not going to be a joyous occasion. After clearing our soup bowls, the waiter brought out a plate of latkes that were burned around the edges and our sandwich, which was on toasted white bread--not rye. We sent it back because no self-respecting Jew and New Yorker would ever eat pastrami on white bread. The hockey pucks, I mean, latkes were dry and gummy, but we ate them to tide ourselves over and contemplated making a meal out of the promising cookies from the bakery case.

Our sandwich finally arrived and it was not good, people. Stiff pieces of toasted rye resembling rice cakes and dry pastrami and corned beef that tasted more like salami. We attempted to salvage it with a lot of mustard, but it quickly became clear that it was beyond repair. We abandoned all hope, begrudgingly paid the $35 bill without the slightest glance at formerly tempting bakery case and fled to Buford Highway for guaranteed salvation.

When I feel lazy on Sundays (that means, stay away from my adored kitchen), and don't want to drive up to Nata Rica, I go to the Bagel Palace Deli and Bakery. When my Dad (a major fan of Bagels and Jewish food) come to visit me, we go to the Bagel Palace Deli and Bakery. When I want bagels and herring in cream sauce and dill (yes, I'm a good Latvian girl, born and raised in Venezuela, go figure,) I go to the Bagel Palace Deli and Bakery. There is nowhere in the ATL that offers bagels as good as this place. So, when the bagel monster spirit possess this happy, voluptuous body, it automatically goes to the Bagel Palace Deli and Bakery.

Don't expect luxury or quietness. It's a neighborhood dinner with zero pretentiousness. It is usually packed with families (a.k.a. screaming toddlers and moms) and their OJ is freshly squeezed and deliciously bittersweet (love it.) Their menu is extensive, so it usually takes some time to decide. Some items are great, some aren't that much. Stick to the classic bagels and breakfast sandwiches, as well as the potato latkes, and you'll be fine. That good food is homemade like, calorie rich, but it makes you feel good and full.

I'm not crazy about the place itself as I usually like to have my breakfast in a quieter environment. But some time you gotta turn off your brain in order to get a good 'ol bagel. Coffee is, yes, awfully dinner-like. But my brains needs the elixir in the mornings. I try to brew some at home before heading to this place. I would recommend this, or the evil SB.

Enjoy!

When I moved back from New York I was desperate for a good garlic bagel, properly toasted. On that front, The Bagel Palace makes me quite happy. I haven't really expanded too far beyond bagels, though the omelets I've had were decent. Their hash browns and grits are bland, just kind of there. The coffee is just the typical diner brew.

There's not much ambiance to the place, but the staff is nice and generally on top of things even though it gets pretty busy.

I went here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite empty. I expected, considering it was a bagel place for it to be packed for those of us waking late and still craving breakfast. The place is quaint and cafeteria like. I like the feel of it, nothing fancy or showy. I ordered a veggie omelet which came with tomatoes, onion, peppers, and mushrooms. I got a bagel with this and hashbrowns (a lot for my money!). The omelet was okay, nothing amazing. It seemed like the veggies were placed inside the tuck of the omelet as opposed to cooked with it. The everything bagel was really good with the spices everywhere on the bagel (as opposed to Einstein's where you only find was you ordered on the top half of the bagel). The hashbrowns were also really yummy. My boyfriend got the reuben on rye and liked it a lot. He ordered potato salad, which I have trouble commenting on because he's a bit of a potato salad connoisseur so it's difficult to impress him, but he found them to be bland and I never gave them a try.
All together the prices seemed quite fair and the food was pretty good. I'd definitely come back here just for the bagels. Also, their baked goods behind the counter looked super yummy even though I never tried any.

AWFUL SERVICE.  AWFUL FOOD.  AWFUL PEOPLE.

Makes me sad to be a Jew.

I took it upon myself at one point to find the best Reuben in Atlanta. I definitely never completed my quest, but out of 10-odd places I tried, Bagel Palace rocked the reuben the best. Considerations include price, flavor, ratio of ingredients and quality of ingredients. I've got to say they nailed the reuben. I had potato salad with my sandwich, which perhaps was not as creamy as I'd like (methinks a bit light on the mayo), but tasty nonetheless. And definitely one of the more unique pickles I've tasted to date. I'm no pickle connoisseur, but it was strangely delicious. I have only been once and can only vouch for the one sandwich, but it was fantastic and Bagel Palace is certainly worth the trip just for the reuben.

The closest thing in Atlanta to a Jewish style bakery-deli we have.  This family run operation by ex-Yankees offers better than average deli fare, breakfast items, and baked goods.  The bagels are close to authentic, but I sense they could use a bit of salt or a little more malt in the mix to round out the bland flavor. There are places like this all over New York, New Jersey and South Florida and Bagel Palace would fit right in.  The dine-in service can be frustratingly slow at times, but it is always friendly.  Also of note:  the sometimes demanding clientele here must drive the staff absolutely crazy, so show some grace and remain calm.

A Jewish bagel palace. Who would have guessed? This deli/bakery is a wonderful place to stop for lunch.  They actually have a range from burgers to pancakes to delicious soup. I like to create my own bagel sandwich, usually egg and cheese on an everything bagel, or perhaps salmon with cream cheese on multigrain. Mmmmm. The atmosphere is rather dull, but the food is yummy, fresh, healthy, and kosher! If you were seeking bacon, then I'm sorry.

A lot of people swear by this place.  I dunno im on the fence.  If you want to pretend your in Ft. Lauderdale then go there.  The tuna melt aint bad but I dunno I only go when my friends force me.  Going to this place reminds me of places my grandparents go for earlybird specials.

All the breakfast fish you could ever want, bagels and delicious cookies too.  My husband hates it because it's not pretty at all.  Multiple kinds of bagels and cream cheese.  The food is tasty and the service is old school classic great service, no dawdling, no BS.  A place grandma would love.
