I'll be honest. Even though this place is very close to me, I haven't come here that often. But back in December, I got a Groupon, spend $2 and get $10 worth of food. Fabulous deal. Kinda went on the back burner until I got an e-mail alert telling me it was going to expire. So after work, I went in to get some lunchtime grub.
Me being a soup fiend and all, I decided to try their tomato rice with a scooped and toasted salt bagel, an Honest Tea (always delicious) and a black and white cookie. The cashier told me I still had a dollar left to spend, so I grabbed a bag of pirate's booty. I ended up spending about a quarter.
Came home with my soup meal, and have to say that the tomato rice soup was excellent, and was $4.00 for a pint. Ate the entire thing up mighty quick, and was jonesing for more. So the next day, I called up to see what the soup of the day was. Lentil, mushroom barely, and something else that didn't appeal to me. I did this for the next three days in a row. On the third day, I flat out asked when the tomato rice would be back. The girl on the phone said she'd go ask the chef to make it for me today (squee!). But to my dismay, he had left for the day. She said she'd leave a note with him to make it for tomorrow and that she would call me tomorrow as well, taking my name and phone number.
Needless to say, I woke up in a good mood the following day since I knew my beloved soup awaited me. I never got a phone call, but swung in to the 'boss nonetheless. When I asked what the soup of the day was, the woman there asked, "Oh, are you the one that called about the tomato rice?" Why yes I am! She said that she had tried calling me, and verified my phone number - which was wrong by a digit. She said, "I was wondering why I got the voice mail of a strange man who's mailbox was full."
Though they may have taken my number down wrong, they still made sure to have the tomato rice soup as one of their soups of the day. I mean really, who makes you food besides your grandma? How awesome, and how nice that there are establishments that really care about their customers. I really admire and respect that, and will be back for more than just tasty soup. -

I'm going to deduct a star for the high cost. Also,as they are Kosher, there are some items not on the menu.
But overall, the quality of everything is top notch. I love the flagels (a flattened bagel with a larger circumference than a typical bagel). Its great to start a morning on Long Island by getting a flagel and the papers at Bagel Boss -

Couldn't tell you much about the place other than that I was kicked out upon entering for toting in a Diet Mt. Dew. I understand being kosher. I'm cool with it. I wouldn't expect you to sell me a pork sandwich. That said, keep your religious fervor in check. My drink is going into my pagan body. I'd like to know what constitutes the "premises" of a kosher restaurant, especially in the context of a strip-mall, in which this guy is probably working within feet of unholy beverages in adjacent establishments, separated by only one inch of sheet-rock.
