This was my 2nd time here and I can't say that I'll be coming back. I ordered the "Kickin" Chicken Burrito, expecting it to be spicy, but it was just unseasoned chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, and guacamole. How is this a burrito? Definitely doused it in hot sauce for it to even come near being "kickin." Yeah, the burrito was pretty big, but if you're there for good flavors - it's a miss. The chips and salsa were a nice touch, but if you consider the price of a burrito ($8-$10), you feel entitled to it (even if it's a small amount of chips). Unfortunately couldn't finish the bland burrito because it started leaking the cooked chicken water remnants and got super soggy.
I probably won't be coming back for a 3rd time .. this experience just killed it for me. -

An exact dialogue excerpt from my recent trip to badlands:
Me: I'd like the quesadilla but no lettuce please
Girl: No problem, lettuce doesn't come with that!
Me: Oh, ok I only asked because it says right here in the menu, "served with lettuce"
Girl: Yeah, it comes with lettuce but its on the quesadilla.
Me: Oh, ok well I don't want that, no lettcue please.
Girl: The lettuce is not IN the quesadilla, its on top of it...
Me: Right, but I don't want lettuce at all, I'll just throw it away, no lettuce please
(I swear this is not an exaggeration)
Girl (in a really rude and sarcastic tone): SIR, I dont think you get it... There is no lettuce IN the quesadilla! It is only on top!
Me: Wow, no I GET IT.. I just dont want any Goddam lettuce!!
(I didnt say the goddam part I maintained my cool, but the rest is 100% accurate)
We only came here because the GF remembered coming way back when she was in highschool, recently drove by, saw the place, and remembered it fondly, was happy it was still open and wanted to check it out again! There was no one else in here... We were hoping to sit outside and they do have outdoor tables and even though it was about 70 degrees probably 5oclock and beautiful, sadly it was not set up. Its unfortunate the experience sucked because the quesadilla was not bad! Drove by a similar place maybe half mile or less away on the way home, hustling and bustling, ppl sitting outside enjoying themselves in the beautiful weather and really wished we went there instead! Wife and I stopped by on a Saturday recently for a quick lunch.
You order and pay for your food at the cash register area and then they give you a sign with a number on it and bring the food to wherever you end up seated.
There were no other customers in the place the entire time that we were there. We were there around from around noon time for a solid 45 minutes.
We ordered guacamole, chorizo quesadilla, and some jalapeno poppers.
The guacamole was freshly made and very good. It came with chips.
The chorizo quesadilla was quite overpriced at $9.50. It was disappointing. I was hoping it was authentic crumbled chorizo but instead it was just thin slices of chorizo.
The jalapeno poppers were decent. They served them with a small plastic container of salsa. My wife wanted some sour cream. So, I requested a small container of sour cream. The lady went in the back and came out with the small container and handed it to me. She then said "54 cents". I didn't get into it with her. I just handed over the change.
I won't be back. -

I don't wanna toot my own horn but I know what REAL Mexican food taste like. My Mexican friends in Chicago would kill me if I gave this place anything more than 1 star.
First off, the place smelled HORRIBLE. The lack of AC and also the unpleasant smell of sticky counter tops just made this place awful.
As I sat there patiently for my meal, I was looking at the clientele...actually there was no clientele, everyone decided to just "order take out" - I don't blame them. But as I got my order of shredded beef tacos with tortilla chips and pico de gallo...oh boy, I was disappointed. I understand that more meat can be better but holy moly, I think I was constipated the next day with the over explosion of meat in just ONE little tortilla. It was just hard to swallow - I was luckily enough not to choke on so much shredded meat. The tacos were lacking salt, flavor and excitement. The pico de gallo was weak too.
My search for real Mexican food continues on the east coast...so far, I haven't found it, especially not at "Badland Taco" - BAD. -

Badlands in Oradell (I can't vouch for the Ramsey location) is one of the better Mexican places in the area whether you want to sit down or get take out. All the ingredients taste fresh and the food won't leave you with any digestive problems later on- truly a rarity when it comes to many Mexican restaurants.
Sam's Chili with sour cream and cheese is a must have. The tacos are all very good, but usually when I come here I'll order one of the burritos which always emphasize meat over rice (in fact, I don't even think Badlands puts rice filler into their burritos). The quesdillas are good, but at $9.50 they're a little over priced. All and all a very good Mexican place at decent prices. -

I read some of the other reviews & I'm not sure what the negatives are all about. But then again, we're all entitled to our own opinion.
I think this place is good (we've eaten in & taken out dozens of times!) & definitely worth a try. The food is fresh - doesn't taste processed or packaged like some other places, and the portions aren't bad either. Yes, it can be a bit on the expensive side but so are most other Mexican places I've been too outside of Mexico. Bottom line... try it and decide for yourself. -

Expensive, tasteless food. Just like the other reviewers have stated. I really have nothing to add on top of what they claim - but i do back up all their mentions.
Nachos Tasteless
Tacos Tasteless
Burritos Tasteless
What the hell!!??!?
A mainstay for kids for the last 10 years - always wondering why my friends would say "yeah i hate badlands" then 10 minutes later i would find myself eating badlands, because people always just want to "give it another try". Place is a joke. -

My wife and I are big fans of this place. I love their Deluxe Nachos. I have yet to find a bad item on the menu. Make sure you bring cash or check since they don't accept credit cards. There's an ATM just up the street if you forget. My two picks off the menu are the chicken chimichanga and the spicy bean dip. During the warmer months they have a couple tables outside. It can be a bit noisy being on a main street, but it's still great being outdoors.

I only had the taquitos here, but was pretty impressed. 3 very large deep fried rolls full of pork with guacamole for about 6.50. Very tasty. They'd get 4 stars, but I went the next day for chips and guacamole and it was 6.50 and VERY not worth that much unless Avocados are about to go extinct.

This place is inexpensive and really good. They use fresh ingredients, and thery're pretty fast. Bean burritos and veggie tacos are my favorite things on the menu. They have tables where you can sit and enjoy your "dinner for two for under $20".

I wasn't impressed by this place. The food tastes really bland and costs too much. I had a burrito and my husband had a fried taco thing. It all kinda tasted the same, boring. It's cheap, but I think for the lack of flavor it should be cheaper.
