Review from Thomas A.
I can only comment on the vibe of this place. I didn't get a chance to eat the food since I previously ate when I got here to meet friends. I like how they have valet parking. They don't charge, so you only need to pay for a tip.
Food wise, everything smelled and looked amazing. My friends stuffed themselves silly. This place seems to be the go to spot in Pal Park. This place gets crowded but its a good crowd. Nobody is rowdy; they keep it professional here. Beers are flowing all the time here.
They have lots of tables and the layout is a nice L shape. The bathroom is surprisingly clean. Def need to go back. Easy access to get here from NYC.
The only cheesy annoyance is the fact that play that childish happy birthday song for people's birthdays. -

I love the fried chicken, soooo gooood with the marinated root thingy that comes with it.
Other than that there is nothing really special about this place. Standard Korean drinks and other drink-accompanying dishes, some young people hanging out, or smoking outside together. Eat the chicken and drink the beer, you will be happy!! -

I love Korean fried chicken, and I was happy to discover Baden Baden.
It's still better in LA, but I'm not one to turn down KFC (K for Korean). Good, spacious restaurant with a good bar. Plenty of different types of alcohol. They've got a decent beer selection, and of course... soju.
Service was good, even though we had a large party. They dealt with us very politely, and even gave us a free dish of calamari after a miscommunicated order.
They DO have happy hour. I'm not in this area that often, but it's always good to add another place to my list. -

It's a nice place to see grown ass korean people get drunk or eat fried chicken.
I went here a long time ago. I haven't been back since.
I did recently go to San fran and had the best korean friend chicken. That could be a solid excuse for me to never come here except to get lit. But, that's what Circle or Hero Lounge is for so I've heard. Only if my gf would take me. -

Korean Fried Chicken that melts in you mouth. Seriously good. Added to that, some fresh and crunchy daikon (some comes with slice of jalapeno), kimchi and a side dish of onion rings or fries; you are in some kind of a heaven. I suggest to skip the onion rings and the fries and order pineapple fried rice to go with the chicken.
If you have had korean fried chicken from Baden Baden in NYC, it is comparable with this place come out twice better. -

Love love love this place. Everything tastes so good. i highly recommend everything on the menu. The atmosphere is relaxing, and most of the time, it's not too loud (even when it's busy).

Good low-key spot to hang out and eat with your friends.
I've come here during the day after sporting events, at night, etc. It's always a good time. Their chicken, ribs, hae mool pah jun are all good. Their chicken fingers aren't worth getting.
They offer pitchers of beers at a reasonable price, as well as soju, and they also have a full bar.
i went down to the party room/karaoke bar for the first time for a friends birthday. The waiter was pretty good at making sure we always had what we needed. The bill came out to $50 a person though. I think there was a $500 minimum for the big room which holds 15+ people, but when you're ordering food & drinks, it goes by fast.Listed in: Restaurants (NJ)

Review from Paul L.
What can I really say? Just another run-of-the-mill Korean chicken place. Except the chicken is rotisserie style a la Boston Market. Good stuff all around and the menu seemed to boast a few other items that looked good but the price point was higher than what I thought it should be. Whole chicken for $18 or something like that. I can be a cheap bastard at times but that menu makes me want to be cheaper and increasingly bastardly.
The only thing that stuck out was that for my gf's birthday, the waitstaff asked me if I wanted birthday music to accompany the presenting of the cake, to which I readily replied, "Why, of course, young chap!" Immediately, grand visions of Korean, male and female, 20-somethings serenading my gf and her party of other Korean, male and female, 20-somethings stroked my H.O.T.-style Korean pride. However, this grandeur was not to be fulfilled. What I received was a cheesy ass, karaoke, happy birthday song that was more meh than anything. Nice try, young chap.
Needs much improvement. Would not come again unless terribly inebriated.Listed in: Be the Reds!

Julie/Julia,
Been here sooo many times and forgot what a great place it is to just chill with some friends here.... Seems like when me and the fellas are in this part of NJ that baden turns out to be the best place to hit up....
Pitchers of Yuengling or Coors light and let's get the night started... I can only recall getting 3 things at this place and really, these are the only things needed..... For 3 peeps pick the chicken and either the kimchee tofu or the octopus... The portions are pretty substantial....
1) Ton Dat of course... The fried chicken (large order) is juicy and feels light for fried chicken. The thing is that this is the only place i would EVER get fried chicken.... I'm the kind off person that would never touch fried chicken and the sight of KFC or Popeye's offerings is actually a bit sickening... But here it is a must... and with the hot sauce and pickled radishes... it's delicious....
2) Kimchee Tofu with pork... It can get a bit spicy if you're not use to Korean spiciness.... I feel like a masochist eating this as sweat drips all over my face.... But i keep digging in because it;'s soooo good... This is when the waiters give you stacks and stacks of little napkins.... I usually bring my own sweat bands and I'm all set :)
3) Spicy octopus... also as spicy as the kimchee tofu... Good alternative if you don't want tofu... I crave it sometimes but i usually regret not getting the tofu later....
The atmosphere is like a pub/restaurant Korean style.... There's valet parking outside and the place gets crowded but i've never really had to wait long to get a table.... The staff is attentive...
I would only say to chill with the alcohol cause cops in NJ will do sobriety stops... Flavored soju goes down easy but it'll hit you later... -
Review from Audrey K.
So maybe New Jersey drinky-hang outs are just all different from New York ones, but this place does not host your typical super dark and noisy and sloppy atmosphere.
It's clean and pretty quiet - until about 10pm, and the setting is very nice. They open all the blinds right before sunset and you can enjoy the view/natural lighting and some good chicken.
The prices are far more agreeable than bon chon (though the chicken is served differently) and the food is better than typical korean bar places.
They also changed our little plates like 5 times, and gave us napkins 7 times, and were very attentive. Haha, I am a fan! It's a nice post work drink place.Listed in: The Usual Suspects

If u want to see how korean grown kid drink, this is the place to go. It has huge parking lot like any other typical place in nj. But u may end up paying vallet parking fee. Fried chicken is relatively good. I don't even know how much it is cause i wouldn't drink here with my money. Remembered that beer pitcher is not cheap. And i strongly recommend clamshell with spice sauce ovet noodle. Called "gol barng i." it's pretty tasty and has lots of protein. Tastes almost the same as the original one in korea. And don't forget we korean drink beer or whiskey witg fruits platter. Know sounds weird but true.. They also have karaoke on the basement floor. Gotta be expensive. U should try with your corporate card!!

I eat chicken all the time. It's easy to make. It's extremely versatile and very forgiving. In fact, chicken is so good, everything tastes like it!
Despite that, some restaraunts have found ways to foul up a fowl dish either through preparation or by ambiance. I have a very specific restaurant in mind when I say this.
Baden baden makes a very delectable Tong Dak (chicken). The pieces are big, moist, juicy, steamy, and tasty. Everything you and I would expect. The nakji (octopus) is served piping hot on an iron plate and is spicy, chewy, sweet, and mouthwatering. The portions are quite large. The best part? Both of these dishes can be ordered with a pitcher of beer as part of a dining deal.
Doesn't knowing you're getting good food for a great deal (or free) sometimes make the food taste better? Or is it just me.. =p

Food is good but don't expect to have a conversation here after 10PM.
For some odd reason, they crank up the music after certain hours. It's SUPER LOUD as night club so everyone must SCREAM their lungs out just to say something. - not cool. This place is spacious and open like typical Chinese Buffet place. Nothing exciting here other than annoying loud music. Food and drinks are somewhat pricy but I have to admit they're addictively good. ($20~$30 per plate, $7~$15 drinks and since almost everyone drinks here, expect to spend $40~$60 per person.) Baden has been serving Koreans in Bergen County for years. Original venue in Fort Lee was much nicer with comfortable cozy ambience. This place makes you feel like a chicken in a loud ass cage. -

Too bad I didn't get to try chicken at the Jersey Baden Baden because it's DAMN GOOD at the one in KTown.
Seemed to have a more "mature" crowd than NY korean bars.
and THE FANCIEST dressed noraebang/karaoke rooms I've EVER seen. Felt like royalty. haha
Oh yea. and strawberry yogurt soju was YUMMY. Sweet, artificial tasting... mmm. -

Their chicken is the BEST. It reminds me of the chicken flavor shipped directly from Korea, bringing me back to the memory lane to reminesce my childhood. My mother used to take my brother and I once a week to a local bar in Korea just to feed us Ttong Dak-Chicken. We didn't drink anything, but thorougly enjoyed Ttong Dak with radishes in sweet vinegar almost as a weekly ritual.
It's a mystery as to how they make chicken this good. As the previous reviewer said, the outside is crispy (almost like peking duck) while the inside stays moist full of tender juice. The outside of the chicken has been rubbed with chunks of garlic and other herbs and spices which bring out the flavor of chicken and compliments well with beer. Order the WHOLE chicken as it costs only little more than the HALF chicken.
Something to note if you're new to Korean food. This is not a typical Korean restaurant. It's a hang out bar/restaurant to come with a group of friends. They don't have a lot of choices in their menu; it's very specialized in "ahn-joo"- food that you eat while drinking.Their special drink: lemon soju; special dessert: fruit platter
For New Yorkers- go to Forte Baden Baden on 28 West 32nd Street; Koreatown. I think NJ one is better. For further review go to:

Tong Dak. You know Tong Dak?
I usually catch a late flight from RDU to EWR on a Thursday or Friday to visit friends/fam. Get off the plane, get in the rental, call my cousin up, and he's managed to just get off work.
"Yo, where you wanna go?"
"Let's go eat some Tong dak."
"Word."
It's hard to find Hops around the US, especially in the east coast. Chicken and beer. Late night snacks. No regrets. Drink. Dine. Eat chicken. Leave happy. Sleep like a champ. Wake up with a puffy face (nowhere along the lines of eating ramyun and sleeping).
Their chicken is pretty consistent. Unless you come at an offbeat time, you won't find dry chicken here. Respectable flavor, nice hot sauce, and plenty of other "Boonsik" items to order. Pair it with a pitcher of your beer of choice, and the night is starting off the right direction.
3.5 stars. The atmosphere is just so so, because it's often too loud with too many people during the late hours (sometimes the hoard of asian infestation can get to your nerves). But 2 times out of 3 when the airplane lands at Newark in the evening, I'm thinking, "Baden Baden". -

3.5 stars
Very good "tong dahk" a.k.a. fried chicken. It's moist and unlike some other
Korean-style fried chicken where it's sometimes overfried. You can either choose the
large or small chicken. It think the large chicken is $17 while the small is $13. I'm
not sure. The small chicken is good for two people, as long as you get something else.
Their other popular dish is the sauteed squid. That's good too but the serving is small.
It looks larger than it is because it's served on a bed of udon noodles. I think it's
$20.
Service is pretty good for a Korean bar/restaurant. I enjoy the ambience. It's not
tight. I haven't been to the karaoke rooms downstairs. Supposedly they have them but I
don't know anyone who's been down there.
There used to be another location in Fort Lee, a block north of the George Washington
Bridge. I think that place closed down a few years ago. -

Hackensack, NJ
I would compare this place to a Korean version of Bennigan's or TGIF.. the best part is the private Karaoke room downstairs where you pay lump sum amount for unending singing, some food & drinks..
Not the best place for ordering cocktails... stay with beer and chicken.. and try their chopped clam spicy fried rice, lightly battered fried beef, and seafood soup...
Older crowd usually... Korean singer JYP hangs out there sometimes with his crew... -
Review from a k.
Clifton, NJ
The signature dish is their chicken. It is soft and tender with a cripsy skin. This is more of a bar restaurant than a resturant.
Definately need to drink beer or soku.
The other bar dish to have is the spicy octupus.
Go in a group and share the food. -
Review from Daichi K.
River Edge, NJ
Their chicken is great. The pickled vegetables that is served with it compliments the chicken very well.
Also got to try this Chicken with the Shogi sauce and that was delicious as well.
I also recommend their Korean Clam Fried Rice! Yum.
The atmosphere of the place is dim lighting during the night and bright during the afternoon. Parking is usually tough here on a weekend so you will have to use their valet parking service. Staff/Waiters were friendly and on time with anything you needed. Drinks did seem pretty expensive but the portion of drinks were not bad as well.
I come dine here once in awhile with some friends to catch up and talk. It's definitely one of the nicer restaurant/bar type places and their chicken is like how the other yelpers have said, "delicious!".
R.I.P. to the owner that passed away several years back. We miss you -
Review from Edward I.
Parking is sort of sucky but you'll somehow find a spot. Weird thing about the place is that the rear of the restaurant overlooks people's back yards on top of a hill LOL. The food is good, but the wait is long, better try to go during mid afternoon, the chicken falls apart when you try to pull the drumstick, shows you how tender it is.

It's true...it's all about the chicken at Baden Baden. It's yummylicious! I admit there have been off days when it's a bit dry (chef must've been in a bad mood that day) but most every time the chicken is juicy, crispy, salty, and loaded with flavor. I've even gotten used to eating it with the pickled radish that comes with it. Perfect food with a pint!

Great place to meet friends. The food is good. I always go for the fried chicken which is a Korean favorite here. Try the tofu and there should be a good deal on pitchers of different beers.

Review from Min K.
Mountain View, CA
One of the better bars to hit in K-town. It's okay.
- Beer or Soju: Normal price and good selection for a Korean place.
- Food: All pretty pricey since it's more of an ANJU. Tonkasu is pretty good. If they served cream soup, it would be fantastic. Only thing I don't like about the menu is that there seems to be more deep fried food than normal, healthier selection (not that I'm a heath freak or anything). Sometimes you just don't feel like eating greasy, fried food.
- Service: I like the little boyscout / girlscout outfits servers wear...haha... I always feel service is better and faster than most places.Listed in: NYC Nightlife

I've been to Korean chicken pubs in Korea, California, and Illinios. This place took a different spin from the hole in the wall, cheap eats, and cheap beer places. It twisted it into a high priced drinking hole that has attentive service and unique dishes that completely satisfies the pallette.

Three and a half stars, actually. Not much more to add but to say that they have Blue Moon and Guinness on tap. Korean chicken. They all taste the same to me. The extra half star for the decent beer selection.

Well it does not beat Bon Chon but its alot cheaper. Good place to have drinks with alot of friends. Its more of a bar than a restaurant. But the drink selection is quite good. I had the Large order of chicken which they describe as Rotissere. But to me its more fried. The spicy vinegar definitely is a must gotta let it soak in the meat. The white meat was a bit dry but putting the sauce on it makes it alot better. I also had the Spicy Octopus. Not bad i do love chicken but nothing beats Bon Chon. i love Korea!!!

Review from Los X.
New York, NY
I don't know. I thought this place was a little less than average.
Sadly enough, some friends and I used to frequent a spot not too far away called Peoples. I think poor management lead to their demise. They probably had the best fried chicken in all of Palisades and Fort Lee. The lemon soju was also perfect.
I believe Baden was a failed attempt to try and replace Peoples.
The journey continues.... -

Review from Richard F.
Bloomfield Hills, MI
We have been to a few of the Korean restaurants in the area (there a ton of them), but hadn't tried the Korean Fried Chicken that is all the rage now. When I did my research, I found a few take out places and some that only sold legs and wings. So these didn't really suit our needs for a sit down dinner. Then I found some local reviews of Baden Baden and decided that this place sounded good to us. Now we had driven right by this place quite a few times because it looked like a nightclub of some kind and because the name is Baden Baden, we thought it might be a German restaurant. But it is certainly not a German restaurant. We went on a Saturday night. The parking lot was packed. The valet came to the door of the car, took my keys and gave me a plastic receipt. On entering the restaurant, we saw that the place was packed with mostly young people and we noticed that we were probably the only non-Koreans in the place. After being seated we looked at the bilingual menu and selected a couple of nice big ice cold draft beers, a large order of chicken and side order of french fries. The beers came out with a small dish of Korean Pickles which were very tasty. Shortly after that an entire chicken was delivered hacked into bite sized pieces. The only utensils were chop sticks and the chicken came on top of some roasted vegetables including some tasty roasted garlic. The chicken was wonderful. IT was fried I suppose, but not in the KFC manner. I am think ling it might have been dusted with some flour, but this was not the thick battered variety. Although it might have been fried, the experience was more like eating roasted chicken. And the coating was not terrible spicy, although it was flavorful. It was served with a squirt bottle of hot sauce which we used for dipping. The fries were very hot and tasty and we were served some ketchup for those. The large chicken which looked to be a whole chicken was just $ 17.95 and the entire check for the chicken, the sides and the two Sam Adams with a tip came to under $ 40.00. It was a very nice experience. Of course they serve a whole lot of Korean Bar food too which we did not order this time and the menu indicated that the house specialties are the chicken and an Octopus dish which also looked to be fried in a similar style. I'll go back to this nice place and can recommend it to others.

this happens to be my regular place only b/c it's so close to where i live.....well, that's not the only reason. their food is always reliable, especially the chicken and the friendly bartender who knows exactly how i like my cocktails is a definite plus.
the karaoke rooms downstairs for special gatherings are fairly nice. nothing to rave about though. -
