It\'s my birthday today and wanted to get myself something special.....Another tattoo, I thought. I had just went to Bad Influence a couple days ago and had some work done. About 4 I decided to give them a call and check for any openings since this was spur of the moment. I spoke to Dani on the phone and she remembered me from earlier. When I asked her if she could fit me in, she said it'd be no problem.
Timing is everything I know and maybe I just got lucky. I've been here twice now and all I can sat is... If you want an awesome tattoo with friendly artist and super clean.... Bad Influence is the place to go. Another plus that I forgot to mention in my last post is that the music played here is at a perfect volume. Even if you don't like what you hear, it's not so loud that you leave with a headache!!
Thanks Dani for a great tattoo and I look forward to having you do another for me!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

The two women that pierced me were really nice, they really know what they're doing. Their nice and helpful. I got my belly pierced by Danielle and my nose pierced by C. Planning on getting another piercing here soon.
My brother and a number of my friends prefer getting their tattoos done here too. -

This is the best tattoo parlor I have ever been to. I have been to many others (sadly) and wish I would have found this place first. Bob is my artist, and he has me for life. He is hands down the nicest, most professional tattoo artist I have ever met. The environment in this place is very friendly and mellow. The artists make you feel more than welcome, and you leave feeling very good about your experience. Their talent is unmatched! Go here if you want a piece of art on your body you will be proud of for the rest of your life.

Friendly service, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted my tatt to look like so he only had to sketch it a couple times. Great advice and recommendations of how to take care of my tattoo, & I am in love with it. It looks amazingg; I got "resilience" behind my right ear.
Only thing was my appt was pushed back about an hour because he was touching up a tattoo for his friend. Other than that, I didn't mind too much because I was too nervous ahahha
Thank you Charlie for my first tattoo! (: -

I am definitely a fan of this place! Dropped by here the other day to get a quote with two of my gfs. I saw that they also had jewelry for nose piercing. I had lost all of my custom bent piercings so I have had to resort to the generic ones found at the mall - which are horrible to put in because its not tailored to fit anyones nose at all.
I decided to get an one iridescent and one blue - they were all sold out of white. The artist took me to the back and measured my nose and got me taken care of in less than 5 min. Best part was that it was only $10 for each piece of jewelry!
I am used to paying $20 for one! -
Review from Thao V.
I got my tattoo here a while back in early 2010 and it turned out great. Two reasons why I'm giving it a four star instead of a five is because my artist (I wish I could remember his name right now) wasn't very flexible with his schedule although when he took out his planner, it was empty. He also asked me if I could shorten what I wanted which I thought: A quote is a quote. It wouldn't be one if there were missing words and paraphrasing involved. We worked it out and I got what I wanted. When it came down to it, he was very careful, took his time, and made sure it was straight since it sits on my shoulder blade region.
I also took two of my sisters here to get their tats done. I didn't catch the artist's name, but she took both of my sisters with no appointment. Thumbs up. They both got simple tattoos, but she still did a great job.
It's a clean environment and they also do piercings. I highly recommend any artist there for simple tats. As far as complex, detailed artwork, I suggest you look into getting it with the owner (I believe he's the owner; he has his own room). While I was getting mine, I saw him working on some guy. There was major detailing involved and it looked good. -

Got my first tattoo here at Bad Influence. I found this place due to positive reviews here on Yelp. I emailed the owner & he promptly emailed me back to let me know that I could stop by the shop anytime. I walked-in one day & met Charles. Explained to him what I wanted & the detailed description. We looked at a lot of designs online so that he could get an idea of exactly what I wanted. I wasn't quite ready to get the tat the same day (plus he was booked solid for a month), so I made an appointment & returned back a month later.
My tattoo took 3 hours. Charles was very mindful of the fact that this was my first tattoo & started out slowly with me, asking how I felt. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain but the tat needle was very tolerable. Felt more like light burning/stinging or being pinched by a fairy. :) The tattoo was on my shoulder, which required lying on my stomach the entire 3 hours. He gave me adequate stretching breaks because it was hard on my neck.
Charles is a true artist. I have received so many compliments on my tattoo (a lotus flower). The shading on it is extraordinary & people have said, "It looks like a real flower!" I've already referred a couple strangers who approached me to ask who did my tattoo, wanting to know more details. They looked up the shop immediately on their phones right after I told them about Bad Influence & Charles.
I paid cash because they do charge a certain percentage for credit card use. I forgot what percent though.... I want to say 5%?
Charles does have quite a busy schedule but is well-worth the wait! -

My dad got his tattoo done here and loved it, so when I wanted to get my second lobe piercing and cartilage, he recommended here. I was greeted and helped right away and the piercer was really nice and knew what she was talking about. She eased me through the process and made me feel calm. Everything went smoothly and I'm really satisfied with how things went,

Took me awhile to write a review but here it goes...
Back in December it was me and my boyfriend's one year anni and my gift to him was a tattoo. I've always heard good things from my friends about this place and I did my research on yelp, so I wanted to try here. I came in to make an appointment, it was not the time I originally wanted BUT Charles (our tattoo artist) was willing to do a piece in the evening, even though it may pass their business hour (SO GRATEFUL). I showed him what my boyfriend wanted and he told me to just e-mail him the verse and it will be ready the day of our appointment.
So it was the day of our appointment and Charles just blew us away with sketching of the verse. My boyfriend loved the font and the spacing of everything. We didn't change anything about the tattoo except the sizing, which didn't take him long to resketch either.
The only (tiny) con was that he underestimated to me how much it would cost, so the day of the appointment he told me it was going to be more than what he said earlier. He did mention he would give me discount from what it was suppose to be since he did tell me beforehand it was going to be X amount. All in all, because my boyfriend loved it so much I didn't mind. -

Ok, So I have never written a review here on yelp, but just read reviews about the places I plan on going to. But this definately deserves a 5 star review! So my sister and I was planning on getting matching tattoos. We knew what we had in mind, but didn't have the exact design. We both had work done before at Bad Influence, and was happy with the results. So my sister emailed them through their website, and as promised, Bob got bad to us a.s.a.p and told us to give them a call and have it done.
I talked to Charles when I called, and instead of just telling me to come in whenever and he'll see what he can do, he actually took the time to ask me what I really wanted, and all the specifics that went into the design so he can sketch something and have it ready for us when we come in the next day.
When I came in, he was already working on my sister's tattoo and it looked gorgeous! And then it was my turn :)
First he showed me what he had drawn up himself, and I told him I wanted to make a few changes here and there, and he was soo nice about it. From past experiences at different tattoo places, they would take it the wrong way like I didn't like their work or they knew what works best for me. Of course he made a couple of suggestions on what he thought would look better, and you know what? He was right also!
I think in total, my tattoo took close to about 2 hrs to complete. And the whole time, even though I was whining a little, he made the process sooo easy to get through. I was sooooo happy with the results! What they say is definately true. Once you get one tattoo, you just can't stop. Even though I now have 5 on me, I was so happy with the work that Charles did, I'm trying to think of another one just so I can come back because I know it would turn out absolutely stunning!!! -

Definitely real and cool talented people that know what they're doing. My artist is mike. And he is someone that has an eye for art. USC graduate doing art. Painting is his hobby. Especially on skin. And before I conclude.... Bob (owner) is gnarly!!! I've had a few sessions when he's working on a huge back piece. It looks amazing. The artists bob chooses to work with at his parlor know what they are doing!

I would love to give Bad Influence better than a 3-star review simply because I've known Bob (the owner) for a long time and know that he's really good at doing tattoos. However, I got my little tattoo (infinity sign) on my hand done by Sierra (I think that's what her name was). She was not very friendly when we came in and was a bit stand offish. In addition, the tattoo, even though it was small, was not done very well. She only went over half the tattoo therefore half my infinity sign is darker than the other side. It looks pretty good, but I'm definitely getting it redone. She was only friendly when I tipped her at the end, which I really shouldn't have even tipped her that much, and she didn't even tell me how to take care of my brand new tattoo or anything. Especially since this was my first tattoo, I would've thought she would've been extremely thorough in telling me what to do. I'm sure other artists at Bad Influence are great, but Sierra is not a recommendation from me. She messed up a little tattoo, I couldn't imagine how she does on bigger pieces.

Review from Éric T.

Getting a tattoo is an unsettling experience. You pay to have your skin poked and colored. The feeling can only be described as getting stabbed and rubbed by sharp paper clips. Oh, and depending on your design, it can take anywhere from one to seven hours.
Sam, our tattoo artist, is a fucking rockstar.
Not only was he kind enough to schedule an appointment for our party of three on one of his days off, but he waited for us to show up...two hours late to our appointment. He put up with our undecisiveness, our booze breath, the many, many styrofoam beer cups that were strewn about the counters while our party was getting tattooed and our jittery-ness.
Sam was gentle and thorough, like an experienced lover. He is also a neat freak. Knowing that I was a virgin to the whole scene, he looked over my tattoo idea and provided some of his own input. He walked me through the procedure and gave me tips on caring for my tattoo.
Caveat inker:
Script tattoos need to be proof-read before your artist starts tatooing. Sam wrote out my tattoo ("Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me") and forgot to include an "e" in "Somebody". Lucky for me his "b" looks like an "e" and I narrowly escaped permanent scarring.
"A Smith's song, Eric? Really?"
Fuck you. I'm a fan.
Also, settle on a price before you get your tattoo done. I paid a hefty price for mine (I ain't complaining, though) while my friend was able to get a discount on his.
Just have fun.
Yeah, you're sitting on a chair while someone mutilates your body. But think of it this way: You're butch, baby. And that ink'll get you tons of ass...or so I was told.Listed in: Eric breaks through the Orange…

It was XMAS Eve and I was feeling a little anxious. The holiday shopping, the traffic, the mad house dashes were all driving me crazy. To escape the craziness of all the holidays, I needed a little break and a breather. Xanax was no longer effective. Lol. Therefore, Bad Influence was my savior.
It was late in the afternoon and they were closing early. I called and the gal that picked up was a doll. She made no promises about being able to work on my last minute tattoo, but the friendliness in her voice prompted me to jump in my car and race down to Bad Influence.
Jarome greeted me and helped me choose the perfect size for my tattoo. Hearing him prep the machines made me want to puke in my mouth and pass out. However, he joked around with me and everybody in there made me feel super comfortable. About 30 minutes later, I walked out super satisfied with the cutest tatttoo ever.
Thank you, Bad Influence. You made my XMAS that much more special. -

Wow!
I've looking for a tattoo shop for awhile and haven't been able to find one who can do what I wanted. Until now.
After coming here with a couple of ideas and designs, Rebeca showed me what she had as far as Tribal Armbands goes, and it was a done deal. I came back an hour later so she could draw up the stencil.
After finishing, my armband looks great! They also include in the price the follow up/touch up visit to make sure no spots were missed, which most, if not all shops do, as a precaution.
I highly recommend this to others who are looking to have tattoos done... -

My older brother and a bunch of his friends all get their tattoos done here so it was only right that I did mine here and not anywhere else (not to mention the fact that Bob, the big boss, is a great client of mine).
Booking in advance is what you need to do unless you're able to pay the minimal fee of having one of the artists come in on his/her free time.
Bob basically freehand my tattoo on my left foot. It was a lot bigger than what I had originally imagined but I ended up loving it. I asked Bob if it was gonna be painful and he frankly said yes. Well painful it was!! People say you get used to the pain, nope! Never felt it! It was like having a knife constantly carving at flesh for an hour. I had my posse there but man, I held that pain in! Foot was swollen for the next week but I'm glad I went to Bob.
It's great to find ppl who like what they do not just for the money, but for the passion and enjoyment.
In the end, I love my result. I am constantly getting compliments of the artwork he's constantly getting free advertisement from me! :)
Call ahead and make sure the artist you want is there. Of-course have an idea of what you want but at the same time, BE OPEN to suggestions. The artists there are professionals for a reason. -

Since Kieu L's review is number 1, might as well add my experience here from Bad Influence tattoo.
I came here upon a recommendation of my (newly added and female) best friend since she got her 1st and 2nd tats done here. She referred me to Frank, who worked on her tats. Bad Influence is nestled in a small strip mall area on Heil Ave. and Bushard.
Upon entering you are presented with walls full of artwork used for your possible tattoo design. They also do piercings, but I wasn't here to get anything pierced! LOL! In the glass counters, piercing studs/jewelry, and B.I. shirts/tank-tops. 3 victim chairs are placed beyond the counter where the master artists do their work.
I thought I had a 12pm appointment, but I got bumped to a 6pm appointment. No worries, so I shopped and ate in the general vicinity while it was almost 6. My best friend came along after her work, to watch on the sidelines (yes, she was there right next to me as I was being inked). The sensation isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be. It's like running a lead pencil against your skin, repeated times! Uncomfortable at first? yes, but you get used to it. It's really not that bad! :D
I had brought in a logo/emblem I wanted inked on. Frank got it dead on. Amazing work, superb artist!
Kickass place, will FOR SURE come back for more, lol!Listed in: Inked

My friend recommended me to this place- she actually just walked in randomly one day and decided to get a tattoo, and from what she told me about her good experience, I decided to go there too for my 1st tattoo. It's been about 2 years now, but my experience there was awesome.
The guy who did my tat, Frank, was really nice and funny. He talked to me throughout it all and could tell when I needed a little rest. It hurt, but he made the time go by faster.
Now, my tat is still in good shape. It healed really quick and painlessly, and didn't scab much. It only scabbed over once and after that it was fine. Also, Frank doesn't have a heavy hand- my tat is smooth against the rest of my skin, unlike those other tattoo artists who have really heavy hands that causes tattoos to be raised up on the skin.
When I first walked in, I was a bit intimidated, but the guy who greeted me was really friendly and when I told him what I wanted, he said Frank could do it for me. The shop was also really clean and professional looking, so I didn't have to be worrying about getting anything from the needles. Also, I walked in without an appointment but there was only one other guy there, so they didn't make me wait or anything.
I do want another tat, and when I decide what I want, I'd definitely come back here. :) -
Review from Rachel L.

A few of my girl friends have gotten their work done at this shop, so I came by a few weeks ago to check it out. The guy who helped me was pressuring me to get it bigger than what I originally had in mind and how I'd like it to be. Tattoos aren't really my type of thing, so it was a bit annoying to hear what HE WANTED to put on me, and not what I wanted for myself. I ended up leaving.
Last night while celebrating my 26th birthday with a few friends, the subject of tattooing came up. I decided to go for it and give Bad Influence another try. I was nervous, this is out of the norm Hell froze over kinda deal for me haha and I was very indecisive in what I wanted so my artist would have very little to work off of. I could only imagine how annoying, difficult and time consuming it would be to deal with someone in my state of mind.
Then I met Charles. He was very patient with me, very understanding of my situation. I didn't feel pressured to get a tattoo and it wasn't about him but me. Even though he had very little to work with and ideas to bounce off of, we found something fitting for me. He took the time to re-sketched it out and was very professional about it. Once he laid the print on my wrist, he asked me a few times to make sure I was comfortable with the placement and if it was okay. I really liked that, and right then I knew I'd be comfortable working with him.
The tattoo came out beautifully, even better than the sketch that I saw. I am more than happy with it, and I'd definitely recommend Charles to anyone.
A very important piece to a successful transaction in every business is knowing what the customer wants and being able to compromise to their needs. Knowing how to read their body language and choose your attitude towards them, so you make them feel as comfortable in your "home" as possible. I felt comfortable, right at home and definitely digging my tat!
Thanks Mister Charles, no one will ever touch my wrist again haha. -

I've had a few experiences with this establishment. First time I came in, was with my boyfriend who decided to get a tattoo. On the second visit, I brought two other girls to get piercings! Each time, everyone left satisfied. When my close girlfriend wanted a tattoo, I recommended Bad Influence!
Called in and talked to Charles. Came in the day before to go over a sketch. When we came back the next day, he not only sketched had what we had in mind, but better! It was the perfect size and perfect shading. Charles was very fun to work with. He kept his client calm, entertained, and happy. The tattoo came out perfect. (I posted pictures, the ones with the two butterflies)
I'm getting a tattoo done by Charles sometime in the next month!! :) -

This is the best place in Orange County to get a tattoo. Bob Nguyen, the owner, is truly an artist of the flesh.
I spend dozens of hours with him while he inked my right pec and back and shoulder with the most exquisite and colorful phoenix. I had some sucky work done on me years before but he was able to recolor and fix it up to the point where it at least looked cohesive.
What I also appreciate is that Bob always wants to do things the right way instead of putting some janky ass thing on your body. I wanted him to work on my left side, a dragon, but he strongly suggested I needed to laser off my homemade tattoos before he would start it.
"It would look like a good cover up, but it's still a cover up." Turning down hundreds of bucks for the sake of body art? That's legit. I've gone through one removal treatment and have maybe one more to go. Thanks for the advice Bob.
He's also tatted up a few of my homies, one a portrait of his grandfather in his military uniform, and it is on point. Go here! -

I personally hate one of the tattoo artists that works here. So, it has ruined my view of the shop.
Most of the people that worked there were pretty nice and friendly, but one of the artists was being a complete jerk to me. I was only sixteen at the time and was getting made fun of by a man who was well over my age. My brother was the one going to get the tattoo that night, but some issues came up with how it was scheduled to happen. They were still going to try to do his tattoo after our friend got done with his. However, the jerkish artist being rude and the scheduling difficulties annoyed my brother enough to cause us to leave.
I do give the shop three stars ONLY because I really enjoy Scorpions work. I don't feel he's the best artist out there, but locally he's pretty awesome. I've seen a lot of his work and really dig it. -

Just got my first tattoo yesterday, and it's SO amazing! I'm very happy with it. Jarome "J-Rok" worked with me on mine. I gave him what I wanted and showed him how I wanted it on my arm a few weeks ago, went in on Wednesday to approve the sketch, and made an appointment (with a $40 down payment) for yesterday.
Note that payment via cash is easier to handle than a CC transaction, as you'll have to be charged tax with CC instead, so be sure to bring some cash with you.
Mine took 1.5 hours total, he was done in about an hour, but spent the last half hour touching up areas he didn't like or thought could use more oomph.
I'm already thinking about getting another tattoo, it's true what they say, tattoo's are addicting! -

I am in love with the artwork that Bob (the owner) produces! He is so friendly, professional and a complete and utter perfectionist. (Just the qualities you want in a tattoo artist.) I have 4 tattoos and he has designed and tattooed every single one of them... I simply cannot go to any other tattoo shop now!
I recommend you go in here with a general idea of what kind of tattoo you want, but keep an open mind and allow your tattoo artist to let his imagination run wild and create something completely spectacular for you.
They get an A+ for being clean, professional, creative and completely reasonable as far as money goes. -

Bob is AMAZING! I truly love getting inked up by him because not only is his hands so gentle and straight he is the nicest guy who I just love visiting. He is so gifted and truly cares about his clients and the way they look. He wants to place it in the perfect area and will give you honest advice that a lot of people out there needs when it comes to putting on something that is going to be with them for the rest of their life. If I can tell you how many people stop me and ask me where I get my tattoos. Not only does it make me feel so good, and lets me know my money was well spent, it feels good referring business to such a rad, down to earth guy like Bob. Super clean, always a good time, and these ppl love what they do. The colors, the healing, and to this day his work is my all time favorite on my entire body. Thank You Bad Influence! Thank You Bob! Your the best :)

If you are looking to get a tattoo in the OC area, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not checking out Bad Influence Tattoo. Bob (Owner) has been tattooing for over a decade and is very good at what he does.
I have several tattoos by Bob and they all are top notch work. J-Rok is a previous apprentice who has been studying under Bob for about 2 years now and his mentorship shows in Jeromes' work.
Bob now has a new apprentice who is beginning to get her feet wet and although you may not know the name now, the caliber of her painting skills will be thorough enough to help you remember her name in the future. I can't wait to see what her color tattoos are going to look like once she starts laying down her own ink art.
Overall, do yourself a favor and head out to Bad Influence, at least just to compare the portfolios before you lock into an artist. Unless you want to come in after you have already got your tattoo somewhere else and wish to feel overwhelming depression once you realize that you paid top dollar to get a tattoo equivalent to a 2nd grader drawing on you with a permanent marker. .. ... -

I've gotten a lot of work done at this shop, even when they were first on heil and brookhurst. Their new location on heil and bushard is much nicer and well maintained. I've gotten piercings here which looked great and healed very nicely and i still have them till this day. I was getting most of my work done by a former employee there Scorpion who always did an awesome job and is very passionate with all of the work he does. I've also have had a few sessions with the owner Bob who is also very well maintained and passionate about his work also. Even though throughout the years they've been open a different artists have come and go through those doors but all them have one thing in common. They have all done very good work and i would recommend you guys going over there and checking them out.

This is my first review so forgive me if it's not that good. However, I got nothing but good things to say about Bad Influence Tattoo. It's my first tattoo, so I was fairly nervous. I knew what I wanted to get but you know how it goes, you have it perfect in your head but you can't quite put it onto paper though. Seirra did just that. I showed her what I had in mind, and how I wanted it, and bam she did just that and made it even better. Before we began, we went over the whole process and made me feel fairly comfortable and telling me what to expect. The anticipation was the worst part because the second we got started it was a a good hurt, I like it! Lastly, she was very cautious with keeping their work space sterile during the whole process, which made me feel very comfortable. Awesome experience at Bad Influence, I know I'll be back for another. Can't wait till my tattoo is completely healed.

Personally I get my work done by the owner Bob but all the artists there are very good. bob only hires artists that are very talented and very good tattoo artists. I have gotten chestplates to half sleeves on both sides and a rib piece on one side. All of which I have had done at Bad Influence and all my future tats will be done here as well. Great staff, great ownership, and very clean. What else could you ask for.
