Bad Billys was the last of a long line of bars for the local crowd. Years ago it was the Red Onion with the Skiers Chalet being the local yokals place to grab a cheap but good steak.

The Skiers Chalet closed it's doors in 2005 and the Red Onion closed in 2007 - re-opening as a yuppy tourist trap with the worst service ever - so basically even though it re-opened in 2010, it's dead to anyone with a half a brain.

Unfortunately Bad Billys closed down today. My bud and I spent 2 of the last 4 nights of it's life there and had a great time. Sure the food was not perfect but the atmosphere is a lot like what Aspen used to be before the glitzy show boats moved in.

We had lunch here a couple weeks ago, and it really hit the spot. Well, let's be honest here... the food is bar food. It won't blow your mind. However, the bartender recommended that I get a burger. I did not take him up on his offer, unfortunately. I ended up regretting that one because the burgers looked awesome. But the food we got... only okay.

However, they have a great selection of beers and cocktails. Really hit the spot in the middle of our day. I think the icing on the cake was the shuffleboard though! Shuffleboard makes everything better, and we dropped a few bucks on that game.

Aspen is filled with a little too much over-the-top ritz, in my opinion. I'm all for class, but when it's too much, it ceases to be classy. If you've had enough of that stick-up-the-aspen attitude, come to Bad Billy's to relax over a beer.

This place is exactly how a great dive bar should be.  A couple dudes hanging out talking shit to the bartender and he's gives it right back without skipping a beat.  Free shots to everyone who hadn't tried the Acai berry vodka yet.  And Steamboat and Fat Tire on tap what more could you want?  Oh yeah how about some greasy bar food.  This place is money!!

Happy hour from 4-6pm with $4.50 well drinks... try and find that somewhere else in Aspen.   Even though there is a spot where you can get a shot and a beer for $5.  Look out for that review.

Food's hit or miss, but that's not why you come here.

You should be coming here for...Watching: Football, Baseball, Basketball or Playing : Shuffleboard, Foosball, Pool, Arcade Games (Re: Big Buck) and Cheapish Beer.  This is definitely more of a guys place but certain nights/days you'll find plenty of women here...

It's was spruced up enough to not have it smell of fryer grease anymore when renamed "Bad Billy's" from "Cooper Street Pier" (Neither on Cooper Street nor a Pier...Discuss) but not too much to make it feel any different.

If I hadn't had some of my most favorite nights in Aspen at this bar I would've given it 3 stars, but I just can't do it.

Cool apres ski bar. Found it to be like a dive bar that I am used to back east. Just never thought I would see this type of dive bar in Aspen.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit for lunch & drinks.  We had some time to kill and were hunting for a layed back restaurant for lunch.  The bartender was very friendly and down to earth.  He made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed.
There is a good selection of beers, wine, and mixed drinks.  Since it's not quite winter, we tried the sake sangria which was definitely tasty.  They infuse their own sake with a blend of fruits.  Great drink, but went down way too easy!
Their menu has all of the standard pub fare as well as some more unique items.  They had a chicken caesar sandwich on special, which wasn't anything earth shattering, but I thought the caesar dressing was fantastic.  The fish & chips was also really good with an excellent tartar sauce.
I was disappointed that we weren't in town longer to try their sister Japanese restaurant - Kenichi.

After a solid day at AJAX, my buddies and I stumbled upon Bad Billy's.  Now I had heard of Bad Billy's the night before from a friendly local.  He told me about the pool tables and more importantly THE SHUFFLE BOARD.  So when we saw it on the street it was instinctual that we walk in.  After sitting at the bar, and chatted it up with Chandler the bar tender, we all went with the burger.  While we waited for the food to cook,  it was shuffle board time.  Oh Yeah...

Let me tell you I'm really glad we came to Bad Billy's.  Chandler was cool as hell, the burgers were mighty tasty and the beer was pretty cheap.  This place looks like a dive and is putting out some serious food with an unpretentious attitude that you thought  you might find in Aspen.

The wait was a little long but then again this is the tale end of the Aspen ski season and they were understaffed for this year's conference.  I think it was only one waitress on hand!  By next year I think they will know better, when a bunch of Medical Marijuana patients & growers consolidate in town there turns out to be a LOT of hungry travelers.  Someone told me they sold more food that weekend than the peak of ski season.

Once we got our burger & tuna tacos, however, we were in heaven.  delicious and affordable options especially considering what you have to drop on just about any service in Aspen.

Atmosphere: As a bar... it's very casual.  As another reviewer states, "down to earth," for Aspen.  Interesting seating bar that faces the street - can be fun.  TVs for sport viewing

Food isn't great - burgers are okay, but the fries are not. The tuna tacos are good... but be prepared to be hungry.  Service is slow, for at least lunch (even with a moderate crowd).

This place was a good time and the atmosphere was kind of odd (I think they were setting up a dance floor where we were sitting because they kept putting big lights up pointed at us), and the crowd was casual but fairly normal. I didn't try any of the food but my friends seemed to like what they got. I would go back the next time I'm in town.

It is what it is.  A biker bar with an attitude, cheap drinks, and pretty good food, priced a little high.   The tamazing tuna tacos served inside of a won-ton shell can easily fit into your mouth in one bite yet cost over 3 dollars each.  Waitress claimed tacos to be the "second best thing you can ever put in your mouth" , but honey, you haven't had me yet.

Our bar tender was a joke.  This place also seemed to be the "local" bar as it was full of dudes.  Don't go there unless you want to be treated like a tourist that doesn't belong.
