Review from Denice R.
I was referred to this coffee roaster by a fellow who works at the Winthrop post office. Not everyone who works in the shops in the tourist-trap hub of Winthrop knows that in Spring 2010 they moved here from their Twisp location.
Here's directions: Follow Hwy 20 to White Ave/Twin Lakes Rd go past Chewuch Inn to Horizon Flat Rd, turn left follow to gray building just past North Valley Lumber on the right-hand side of the road. They are unit #4. There are signs. You may not think you're in the right place because there's no flashy signage going on, you'll be driving on gravel road and you'll enter in the Retail door of an industrial building.
There's no coffee house or espresso stand here so you can't drink your coffee here you can only buy your wonderful roasted beans that are 100% fair trade organic. The place is aromatic heaven.
My favorite is the Cowboy Mud Blend: "Deep, dark, rugged French Roast with enough kick to spur you along."
Super nice people running this operation, helpful in every way. Don't be surprised to be greeted by their two super cute dogs upon arrival. They'll check you out then go back and lie on their beds. Adorable!
Pass the word. -

Great people, Great coffee.
It's pretty far off of the main road, you'll feel like you're lost in an industrial area, but just keep going, it's toward the end of the road on the right side. -

Tucked away down a residential side street in little Twisp, Washington, sits a cute little A-frame storefront with plenty of local charm and enticing aromas of roasted coffee making it's way out to the street.
I found this gem in researching my trip to the Methow Valley and it was definitely worth my time stopping by.
Backcountry Coffee is just a cozy, tiny little place-not much of a storefront, but perfectly situated for a small coffee roasting start up business in this relaxing little town.
The owner, Bob, was close to closing time when we popped in, but still took the time to chat with us about the coffee roasting process that was taking place right in front of us. We met his roasting companion that day (a cute little canine who's name escapes me right now) and then went on to recommend a delicious, robust blend after I described my taste in coffee.
I WAS NOT disappointed! The "Cowboy Mud Blend" was absolutely delicious and probably rivaled anything I have had in a LOOONG time.
If you're a coffee nut, I highly recommend you swing buy and see this unique and cozy little set-up Bob has going and support his local coffee roasting business.
Added bonus: Everything he roasts is ORGANIC and FAIR TRADE!
Thanks for being so friendly, Bob! We enjoyed our quick visit and loved our coffee!
