I ordered take out ribs and stayed for a beer. Pretty solid on both counts.
I went here during one of my pre-move visits. I talked to some people here about what cool things there are to do around Kx. Yeah, this seems like the place to go to ask such questions. It's laid back atmosphere definitely rounds out the Old City vibe pretty well. This feels like the true heart of the city.
I can't wait to go here late on a weekend - probably a lot of fun. -

This is a dive bar with a BBQ problem. A good BBQ problem. The smoked pulled pork is pretty darn good by itself, but even better with either of the BBQ sauces they give you. One sauce is a Carolina style was a little heavy on the vinegar and not heavy enough on the red pepper for my taste. The other sauce was a Texas style smoke sauce, tangy and warm, but not ketchupy or sweet. The hushpuppies were nice and crisp on the outside and warm and soft on the inside.
You can smoke inside if that suits your needs and there is also a decent patio to hang out as well. Almost all beers come in bottles but they have a solid selection and a full bar of liquor as well. This place oozes character, so don't go if you are expecting white tablecloths and candles.Listed in: BBQ Heaven

Back Room BBQ is a scrappy pub in the Old City area of downtown Knoxville. It's a little creaky, a little dirty and has a lot of character.
I haven't eaten here, but the beer selection is Good Enough. I had an Anchor Steam in bottle during my visit.
The outdoor patio is great. It's off the railroad tracks and secluded from the street.

Very cool little bar. Nice bartenders, cool folks, and a big horseshoe pit outside. It's laid back and a good time.
