Good deal and service was good.

I lived across from this place for over five years.  I moved with them when they went into their new building (kitty-corner from the old one), and through numerous counter staff.  I will say that the food quality degraded when they went from the old place to the new, but I figure wait a few more years and the ovens will have seasoned up a bit more.

Still, I do miss living across the street, as they were the perfect "I do NOT feel like cooking!" spot.  Their chicken-chopped salads (no pasta, no croutons!) are amazing.  You get a ton of ingredients and more than enough for a second meal.  I also really like the panini's and ciabatta sandwiches they added to the menu a few years ago.  My guys in the back have a heavy hand with the cheese - just like I like it.  Their Italian ice and gelato are also incredibly reasonably priced (for the area) and super, super good.  Theirs was the first watermelon Italian ice I've ever had, and remains my favorite.

Seriously, though, this place is very much the neighborhood hangout, and while you may hate yourself for finishing that slice of pizza, you'll definitely be back for more.

A lot of places have slices for about 5 bucks, but none of them are this big or consistently fresh and tasty.  Every time I go there the pizza tastes like it's been sitting there for 5 minutes or less.

My only complaint is the cups.  If we get free refills, why bother with the dixie cups?  Give us an adult size cup, especially if we want to take it to go.

I don't think it's possible to make worse pizza if you tried than Bacci does at their best. Sure, you get a huge slice, but it is near inedible. If I put a little cheese and black pepper on it, the cardboard box would taste the same.
I will never go back to this place, despite it being 2 blocks from me.

I love their pizza it's sooo good!! I get my pizza delivery the delivery person is always on time and very polite.

The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because sometimes they forget to put my garlic crust on my pizza.

When I do go  pick up my pizza the restaurant is always clean and I always find parking in front of the restaurant and their customer service is great and customer service is very very important to me.

The kitchen just need to pay more attention to the cook order sheet to make sure the customer is getting everything that they request on their pizza.

Other then that I would highly recommend giving Bacci pizzeria a try.

Been going here for over 10 years on and off. Will never go back again. Sure pizza is cheap..big slice..but have you ordered anything else? The staff is rude and the prices on the wall don't match the prices that are charged. For example: Chicken Parmigiana w/ mozzarella $5.35. Order this and ask for sweet peppers. Total is $8.50. You do the math. They charged me 5.75 for the sandwich, 1.50 for mozzarella and .50 for sweet peppers. I didn't complain. Got the food ....bread overcooked...2 breaded chicken tenders  in a s. rosen roll that you buy at jewel. Seriously??? 8.50?? Please do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Sorry Bacci, you lost a good customer.

Oh Bacci's, why do you do this to me??? I have been to the Bacci's on Montrose and Milwuakee and it is amazing. Since this one is closer to me we decided to go here. I was utterly disappointed. I was upset because I had been looking forward to the pizza and what we had fell below the bar. There were hardly any toppings on the pizza, (its ok I can get past that) but what really was horrid was the lack of sauce. My hubby had warned me but I thought there is no way you can go to the same restaurant at a different location and not have the same food. Next time I will listen to the hubby. :(

Mediocre pizza. I live nearby, and host travelers from all over the country and the world. Not one of them has been impressed with this pizza. It's really best for late night, post bar desperation when you don't care what it tastes like.

I love Bacci -- it's my favorite pizza in Chicago hands down.  Free Pop is awesome too.

They must have just gotten off-street parking for customers too.

If you are a vegaterian -- I'd recommend getting the Bacci special WITHOUT meat -- very good.

    Audible SIGH.

Me: "Hi, we'd like 1 XL pizza, and 9 cups for water."
Girl: "We don't have cups for water."
Me: "really, you don't have water?"
Girl: "Oh, we do...just not cups for it."
    Me: "Great, then."

Let me frame this for y'all...I brought in a group of hungry pre-teen softball girls, and in an effort to support their (very) lacking nutritional intake, I was trying to inch around mass consumption of pop/soda/sugary juice. This was not an effort to save money, really...as frankly, $9 doesn't really make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.

HOWEVER, it truly annoys me that a cashier/staff member, etc can't evaluate a situation and just...ya know, do the damn right thing. I ended up paying $9 for 9 cups, and STILL allowing them to just drink water. It's the principle of the matter...and we are paying customers who just want to drink water! Outrageous.

As for the pizza? It's huge and cheap and not necessarily good by any means, but its sufficient and kids like it because its simple and expected. The $5 pop/pizza deal is adequate, but I sprung for the huge pie...which fed all 12 attendees just fine, with a bit leftover.

But, you can bet I won't be back to Bacci. I'm too thirsty to deal with them and their ridiculous anti-hydration policies.

Whenever I walk by this place, I feel like there is a very sketchy element to it.  I don't know if it's the people that hang out there or what.

The first time I ate here, it was late and I was very desperate. I got a polish sausage that wanted to make me very sick before my first day of work (how bad would that have been?).  Basically, as I was falling asleep, I'd periodically wake up with an intense cramping feeling in my stomach.  Then I'd lie there in pain and it would eventually go away.  This repeated itself maybe about 4 times.  Not pleasant. Luckily I've eaten a lot of sketchy street food in a lot of sketchy countries, so my stomach was able to put up a good fight and win.

The second time I ate here, my experience was a little better.  Why on earth would I have eaten here a second time?  It's close and I was hardcore pmsing to the extent that I wanted something like "pizza fries" for dinner and that I didn't want to go far to get them.  I didn't know exactly what I expected pizza fries to be like, but I hoped that they'd be good.  They were pretty mediocre. The sauce and cheese really didn't work with the fries, even though I really wanted it to.  Plus, I strongly lamented the lack of greasy meat on it (remember, pms).  It was pretty eh, but at least no stomach cramping later on.  At the very least, it satisfied my craving for grease that night.

When the bf told me that there was a place that had pizza slices so big that I wouldn't be able to finish it, I scoffed at the idea.  This is me we're talking about here, affectionately named Kirby for the fact that I like to gobble everything up and also described as the Black Widow (a competitive eating champion) by some of my coworkers.

I got pwned by a slice of pizza.  But I'm okay with that because if I was going to get my butt kicked by one, I don't mind that it's Bacci's (See uploaded picture...you will see why I respect this pizza monster).  $5 is a bargain.  You could easily just get one slice and happily share it with someone.  This is definitely one of those places I'll be visiting time and time again when I'm craving some good cheap pizza.

Yeh so what's it mean when the price is reasonable?  It means that it's what you pay for.  You're not getting a deal or something that's uber awesome.  You get what you get.  The pizza here was ok, i probably wont order from this place again.  The cheese, toppings and crust were just blah.  Nothing special, nothing to look forward to.

The other items on the menu may be better but I'll never know.

If you want Pizza Slices as big as your head, this is the place. For less than $6 you can get a pop, A GIANT SLICE OF PIZZA, and that is enough to fill your greedy butt up! Never disappointed here, although due to watching what I eat, I go there once in a while. This place is about a block from where I work and the food is just so awesome. For old school pizza slices anyway. I've tried their salads also, NOT BAD. The "new place" is really nice, although its been here for a few years, it once stood across the street in a small spot but not its BIG and decorated really nice. Check them out, if you are in the area, the pizza slices can be cut (just ask) and can be shared with more than 2 people for sure.

You are gonna love this one! Just check the photos out, AS BIG AS YOUR HEAD PIZZA!

Pizza was solid, I guess a step above your Pizza Huts and Dominos.  I actually enjoyed the vegetarian pizza over my sausage pizza because there was a little more sauce in it.  I think what I enjoyed most was the novelty of eating a behemoth sized pizza.

BTW, the winner of this year's pizza eating contest entered the day of the contest with 3 jumbo slices to qualify.  Keep in mind, most of the contestants qualified a week or two before.  An hour later, he ate 5 more to win!  I couldn't even finish one slice.

A solid Bacci location, I believe the original (although it's in a nicer newer building than it was the last time I went here back in high school). If you've never been here, get the pizza. A good, huge slice of pizza (I get myne with a side of pizza sauce for dipping the crust in) with free pop for $5. Keep in mind all the locations charge a different price. The one by Wrigley is $7, the one by Curie on Archer and Pulaski is only $3.50.

If you've had the pizza, try branching out to beef sandwiches, fries, etc. It's all decent and a good value.

Are you interested in buying a piece of pizza bigger than your head with mere pennies?  This is the place to do it!

Thin, greasy, huge piece pizza (1 lb. each) with a big pop is exactly what you are gonna get here.  No thrills (besides some parmesan and pepper flakes to add).  But good.

They also have a contest once a year to see who can eat the most pizza and you can try to qualify at all their locations.

My options for delivery where I work are limited to pizza and chinese. I used to be able to get shrimp from Western Ave Shrimp House, but alas, they fired the delivery guy. I've eaten pizza from every joint in the neighborhood that delivers it and Bacci is the current pizza of choice.

The pizza is okay, nothing spectacular.

    My top non-pizza pick:
Steak Sandwich - Fresh, chewy bread, pounded steak, grilled onions, tomato, mayo and oil.

Other plusses: cheap, NO delivery minimum.

Minusses: If having it delivered, make sure to check the order. They consistently forget something (hence three stars.)  Not very hot when it arrives, even though we're only a half mile away.

EDIT: had to remove the polite phone service line because the woman who took our order today was very abrupt and when we asked about the free wings with our order, she told us it was too late and she'd already rung up the order on the card. She said that she'd remind us next time. What?

One of Bacci's five Chicagoland locations, this one on Taylor Street caters to the university and health care crowd around the west-side medical district.  There is also the usual smattering of Chicago's finest - which is worth another star right there!

Freshly prepared food at very reasonable prices, this place hops at lunchtime!  There's not a lot of dining space to plan on ordering "to go."

I live literally across the street from Bacci, and have found this to be both a wonderful and oh-so-terrible thing. Five dollar slices as big as your head make for a deliciously unhealthy convenience food!

As previously mentioned, their pizza is enormous --definitely the largest slice I've ever eaten. It is usually very tasty, but I've been oddly disappointed more than once. But you really can't beat the price - 5 bucks for the slice and a small soda (refillable if dining in). The staff at this location is very friendly and usually give me a piece from the new pie, rather than the old one that's been sitting out.

Bonus points for lots of seating, but negative points for the playlist of five Sinatra songs on repeat.

Excellent for bribing friends who just helped you move in.  After that fun experience, my wife and I bought a bunch of different kinds of $5 pizza slices as big as your head and we feasted.  Focus here is on cheese and ingredients as delivering the flavor, not the sauce (pretty tame), crust, or spices.   Their gelato is pretty good, though more like ice cream.

Also, some people might like it that they have free wi-fi.

Safety is not a concern when you go here.  Meaning that every time I go, the place is filled with cops, EMTs, and firemen, all with large waists and satisfied looks on their faces. So you won't be catching on fire or getting mugged while you're there.

Cheap, alright food. The pizza is usually tasty enough and with pieces the size of your head you can't go wrong. I've ordered cheese-less pizza (Vegan friends can be a pain) and it wasn't as good but better than I expected. Most of the people who work there are pretty nice and you only have to interact with them for about 10 secs so it is never a big deal. I've had their chicken fingers before as well and they were crispy and good.
I think the best thing they serve there is something you might not usually get but if you can do it. The brownies and the cookies are gooey (the way I like it) and sinfully chocolaty so if you're going to eat pizza anyway just break down and get a treat.
Overall it's good for the price and if you like fast food it's a good spot.

The pizza is very good. Be sure to get the garlic crust.

They have a delicious Cheezy Beef sandwich. The french fries are very delcious and have some garlic salt on them to bring out the flavor.

I was very impressed with their Panzerotti and Calzones. They are amazoing.

Um, fuck. Duh? Five stars for any pizzeria that instantly coughs up a man-sized slice and a soda for 5 bucks! Don't be a poof and analyze the pie. You get everything you need (and deserve) for the price and time commitment. Yes. The pizza's too doughy. Agreed. The CPD tactical officers take up a bunch of tables on the weekends. Sure. The kids working there will make "rape eyes" at your girlfriends/wives. But what can we expect for a five dollar meal? Surrender to Bacci; Frank Bruni you ain't.

Story time: "Alberto," a Taylor Street lifer I unfortunately made the acquaintance of, used to rave about a redheaded prostitute who purportedly lived on the same block as this Bacci's during the late 90s. Alberto says she's actually a "very nice girl in spite of things" and "would be about 31 or 32 years old right now, the right age to start a family."

Because, you know, when a guy wants to settle down, he chooses his buddy's favorite prostitute from the old days. Thanks Alberto.

I generally never write reviews, but this last experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Generally the pizza is good, however their cooks have a hard time reading the orders as by the repeated mistakes.

My wife is vegetarian and doesn't eat meat. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni and sausage on only half the pizza. The first time could have been an honest mistake. So we just took the pizza. The second time, the manager on staff states that pepperoni was not meat and that there was nothing wrong despite what was written on the receipt itself. I chalked that up to maybe the owner not being in at that time and give Bacci another break.

However, this third time, we checked with the driver prior to paying him. He does the honorable thing and calls the office saying that the order was wrong as written on the receipt. Some lady calls back saying mistakes can be made. They offer to replace the pizza and wait another hour to come. I say that is the best you can do, but she replies, "What more do you expect?" I figure that we've been a pretty loyal customer until now as well as pretty patient with all their mistakes, but honestly, this was the last straw.

As a business owner myself, I can understand that mistakes can happen, but repeated mistakes and half-hearted responses Bacci has lost my business with them.

That being said, if you eat in at the place, this is still some good grub, but be wary when placing phone or online orders as the employees don't understand what "half" means. For a place that charges $30-40 for a loaded pizza, their customer service must be at a higher standard.

I liked you in the old building, but the new building is going to have you set up on Taylor street just as well as the old one did, with any luck.  Believe it or not, I've never actually had the pizza here.  Looks like fun if you're in one of those competitive eating contests or if you're twelve, but as I am neither I can't quite take the plunge.  You'll break me down one of these days though when I'm hungry and I want to sit out on that upper patio and listen to the ballgame.

You're enough of an old school throwback (but in a shiny new suit) that your grill guy will still throw me down a pepper-n-egg sandwich with a side of giardinara.  Thanks for not selling out the neighborhood.  Seriously.  We appreciate you.

My first apartment was across the street from Bacci's and at that time it was $2 for a slice and a soda.  For the first two months, I must have eaten there twice a week.

Now (10 years later) it's more then doubled in price to $5, and nothing's changed. The pizza wasn't the greatest to begin with, and now that it's $5, I think my Bacci eating days are over.

For nostalgia's sake though, I recently decided to do a taste comparison with the local pizzerias.

The pizza does have an interesting crust.  I describe it as a potato crust, and I do really like it.  The cheese however seems very artificial.  Even fresh out of the oven the cheese layer is thick and rubbery.  That's a big turn off.

The thing that bothers me the most, and I know many places do it; if you order a slice of pepperoni, 19 out of 20 times they will grab a slice of cheese, layer on the pepperoni, and dump it back in the oven for a bit.  This makes the crust nice and crispy, but since the cheese is on the rubbery side, it doesn't do much to fix the pepperoni to the slice.

Now the sandwiches are pretty decent too.  I love the cheesy beef on garlic bread with hot peppers.  I still think it's over priced though. Feels like they passed the price of the new building and some legal fees on to the customers, and that's just not right.

I also think there are much better places to eat in the neighboorhood.

It's true.  And when I can get a piece of pizza and a drink for five bucks, I like to reward that by throwing money at them.  The flavor of the pizza isn't anything to write home about, but it's perfect for those nights when you've been drinking a little too much and want to stave off a hangover with a greasy meal.

Listen this pizza is the general, run-of-the-mill greasy pizza shop.

I love this place because the pizza is larger than my torso.

They have a box shaped just for this torso pizza slice.

You get more pizza than imagine for hardly any money.

They give you a pop with your pizza! Now that is service!

They also have a variety of other food, although I have never eaten anything else, nor have I seen anyone eating any other kind.

This particular location has moved across the street in a bigger, better place. The new store is very clean and charming.

My OMFG review wasn't good enough so........

You get the hugest slice of pizza in the world for $5 with a drink.  Superb.  I hope this is a decent enough review, yelp.  Seriously this place is very cheap and good after say a concert and you are tired and don't want to wait for food to be cooked at a sit down.  So filling.

I used to work on Taylor, and I would occasionally drop by here for lunch. The pizza is all right, although I wouldn't say it's anything particularly special. As a part of Little Italy, I would think it'd be better, but it's passable if you're looking for a quick, cheap lunch.

I used to go to bacci's all the time back when the one on Archer was still open. Tried this bacci's today not as great as my old one but pretty decent, a little dry but soda and pizza for 5 bucks well worth it. I love over-sized pizza! I'm not sure when Ill hit this place up again but if I'm in the neighborhood and have 5 bucks I probably will think about doing so.

the pizza here is just alright.. they aint great and they aint bad.. but for a big slice of pizza with free pop for 5 dollars, you cant beat it. i will come back here again if i just need a quik pizza fix.. other then that i would much rather have deep dish pizza from pequods or something.

Seriously, I love Bacci Pizza but this is beyond ridiculous.  I got a gift card for Christmas and it can only be used in person, not for delivery.  So for this same delivery order where my gift card was rejected, they decide to only deliver 2/5ths of my order.  When my pizza was delivered, it was cold which clearly shows I was last on the delivery run and the total cost for my delivery was just over $40.  It should also be noted that I order at least 3x per month and tip the drivers at least $4 cash per order (which the total normally falls between $18-25).

For the Taylor St Bacci Pizza to claim they were the first Bacci Pizza, they suck with customer service.  They never credit customers for their mess ups and when they mess up, they refuse to admit their mess ups.

Also, if you get delivery and use the coupon on their menu sheet, never give it to the driver as instructed by the girl who takes your order on the phone.  The driver doesn't care and just keep the coupon for future reference.

I have the honor of living across the street from this magical place.  The pizza and pop for a five spot is remarkable.  Imagine a pizza slice the length of your arm and as big as your head... Yea.... everything else i've had there is a 10 out of 10 too. GO TO BACCI's if you have an opportunity. Seriously.
