I like kids, but babies scare me.  Not the medium to large sized babies, but the really small ones make me uncomfortable.  I don't mind looking at them or being around them, but I just don't want to hold them.  They just look way too fragile for a clumsy oaf like me.  Lots of folks I know are having kids lately, and this is one of the staple stores that  everyone registers at for the baby shower.  I've been in here quite a few times, and I still get somewhat lost and feel out of sorts.  Thank goodness for registries and gift receipts as it idiot proofs my forays into here.  Oh, and I did feel weird standing in line with a breast pump.  =P

It's probably been 15 years or so since I'd stepped foot in a Babies R Us.  I expected it to be as chaotic and disorganized as Toys R Us, but quite the opposite.  It was bright, spacious, and quiet.  There weren't too many kids there, mostly just moms and dads picking up supplies.

I couldn't find the piggy bank I wanted, so instead I picked up a few things from my sister's baby registry.  I was amazed by the amount of employees in purple shirts throughout the store.  The really amazing thing was that not one of them asked if they could help me.  I like that.  You do what you're doing, I'll do what I'm doing, and if I need assistance, I'll come to you.

When I went to check out, the poor girl at the register could not get her scanner to scan any of the ten boxes of formula that the guy in front of me had.   She had to call in for back up.  And then when it was my turn, she couldn't scan the registry UPC from my print out.  So I had to go over to the registry desk and have them manually take the items off.  The girl who helped me there was nice, quick, and I was out of there in a snap.

Oh, yeah, and to the mother who slapped her daughter at the gift wrap station and called her a brat: My guess is it's not her fault she's misbehaving.
