I'm pretty sure "Is This Love" (http://www.youtube.com...) was slowly playing in the background as our platter of Bruschetta came out. The BF and I came to B street for our date night  and being the carnivores we are, we ordered all of the meat choices (Salami, Fig + Proscuitto and Lox with Mascapone) and the apple and brie. I ate each one slowly with a sip of Opono wine just wishing the moment would never end. Luckily, each order of Bruschetta consisted of 4 crostinis and each  was cut into 4 equal pieces, giving me the opportunity  to have multiple "moments". You could imagine how happy I was.

The atmosphere is excellent and yes, I know it's strange, but I would compare it to a mullet: Business in the front, party in the back. Great for all types of parties, yet ideal for a romantic evening out. They have live jazz music in the front and the dim lighting provides a very amorous ambiance. It's heavenly and ridiculously addictive. Recommend. Recommend. Recommend!

I brought a friend here, recently from another area-- and I felt the urge to mention a few more things about this place--

If you're a local-- and you're looking for a wine bar that has somewhat of a variety of each kind of wine or a yummy dessert spot, it's great. Do you wanna make a special trip visiting here from the City or Santana Row area? Probably not. ;-)

There are rarely free tastes or samples here-- each taste begins at $4. The guy behind the counter is part owner-- he's behind the counter there, often, and will proceed to conversate with you if you address him. He isn't exactly trying to win you over or make a great tip. He's nice and wants you to buy his wine-- therefore, will talk.

So there ya go-- B street, I still love ya, but I had to let the truth be known!

Listed in: Downtown San Mateo, Wine Flights!

B Street is an awesome place to go with a group.  You can order a bunch of brushettas and share.  The wine is very well priced and the food is fairly yummy.

The service has a lot to be desired.  I have been to B Street several times.  I have never gotten great service and one waiter in particular is terrible.  He gets the order wrong every time!  We decided last time that we will have him read the order back to us and confirm (or write it down for him!).  And when he gets it wrong, he doesn't apologize or even acknowledge it!

And the noise level can get super loud.  A friend of mine's voice was hoarse after dining there.  You might not want to sit close to the live band if you want to hear your dining partners.

Overall, it is a fun restaurant that is extremely well priced.  We usually get out the door with wine for under $20 a person!  If they could only hire new servers, it would be excellent!  But the place is always packed so maybe they don't think they need to!

My awesome good friend got me take out one day for lunch since I work a bit far from B Street & Vine, and boy, the take out tasted awesome! I figure if the take out tasted awesome, it must be even better in person.

Anyways, I had the chance to try four of their bruschetta:

First off the bread was super toasted and buttery; I would prefer it a little bit less toasted because it kept scraping the roof of my mouth.

Fresh Mozarella, Tomato and Basil--very fresh, and they had a vinegrette on top of it which definitely add a little tangy-ness to the whole thing. Yum!

Prosciutto with Figs and Mascapone--My favorite one out of the four I'd tried. The saltiness of the prosciutto, the chewy and sweetness of the figs and the creamy mascapone...I love all these different flavor and texture together.

Brie with Apple--Interesting combo. I love the walnut crumbles on top..it adds that crunchy bite along with the apple.

Salmon with Mascapone--Smoked salmon, what else I can say besides delicious!

I can't wait to go back and try more of what they have to offer and of course, get some vino with it this time.

I come here for 2 things: Wine and Bruschetta.

I have to preface this with saying that I love bruschetta in general. I like to make my own with variations depending on my craving that day. You can sit me down in front of a glass of wine and a plate full of warm bruschetta and I'm a happy camper.

    On to the review.
I've been here for lunch/brunch and dinner and have stuck to the bruschetta part of the menu each time. The bread was nice and buttery with lots of fresh ingredients. The have many kinds to choose from and each is as delicious as the last. My favorite is the one with the cheese and apple. It sounded weird when i first ordered it but it was the best one I've had. The taste combination can't be beat!
They have a pretty extensive wine list with helpful staff if you can't make up your mind.

Lunch/Brunch: is easy to find a table. not crowded at all so its the perfect place to sit down and catch up with friends in a quiet setting.

Dinner: can get pretty busy and crowded. I recommend getting there as early as you can because it gets full pretty quickly. It's also a little harder to carry a conversation. They also usually have live music, so if you want a chill nite with good music, a nice bottle of wine, and some yummy bruschetta; this is the place to go.

Went here on a Saturday night with a group of 4 after reading the reviews on Yelp. I called ahead around 6ish to book for 745. They informed me that he will make the booking, but that people tend to start to linger after 7 so it may take a little longer to seat us. We got there around 745 and it probably took around 20 mins to seat us. The place was completely packed.

While I was a little annoyed at having to wait, given that I had called ahead, I chalked it up to it being not really all that much of a booking place.

Once they seated us service was fairly prompt - we decided to order some bruschetta as per people's recommendation. I was completely blown away to the point of almost disbelief that you get to choose FOUR different ones for a platter and it only costs 12 bucks. The ingredients they use are pretty fancy for a 12 buck platter. Smoked salmon, gorgonzola, fig, etc.

The bruschettas were awesome and the wine we selected was great too and extremely well priced.

Our bill before tip for the four of us was just under  130 bucks.  That included 2 bottles of wine 3 bruschetta platters and desserts for everyone.

    Pluses:

The bruschettas came out so fast I almost thought they accidentally must have brought us someones else's order.
The prices are amazingly cheap for a wine bar.
The staff are friendly and generally very quick -- at one point our server forgot our wine order - once he realized his mistake he quickly fetched the bottle and gave us an additional glass of the same wine on the house to apologize.

    Minuses:

Very busy, so hard to book a table - easily offset by just getting there earlier
Servers seem to be spread just a little too thinly, occasionally hard to get their attention.

    Overall:

Just check this place out, you won't regret it! It's not the most fancy or high end place, but it does what it does amazingly well.

    I will return!

    EXCELLENT FOR LARGE PARTIES:
First of all, planning a birthday dinner party for a group of 18 is a monumental task.  I called around to a few different places in san mateo, but they were not as accommodating for our large group.  My fiance' and I coordinated with Steve via email for our dinner.  He was quick to respond and very helpful.  For parties of 16 or more, they have a pre-fixed menu which made planning and paying ridiculously easy!  The cost was $20/person which included assorted bruschetta, 2-3 types of salads (your choice), and 3-4 types of paninis (your choice) and tax and gratuity. When planning for this large group, this pre-fixed menu made things soooooo much easier!!  I highly recommend this place for large groups.

    SERVICE:
A superb restaurant is defined not only by the mark of the food, but also by the staff. The service couldn't be any better.  From the very beginning and our correspondence with Steve to the end of the dinner with Cal, we were extremely pleased.  They catered to my fiance's nut allergies and checked in frequently.

    FOOD & DRINKS:
The food was excellent.  I'm vegetarian and they had a wide selection of vegetarian bruschetta, which is what they're known for.  Most of my friends are meat lovers and they savored every morsel of the food.  The Spinach Salad was amazing.  The dressing had the right amount of tartness and sweetness. It was all sooo delicious!

I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely go back with a more intimate group.  It's got this cute, quaint vibe perfect for dates.  Thank you for everything B Street & Vine!!!

    This time-around, went for bunch!

    Dish (& its star ratings):
    - Shrimp ceviche salad (4): crisp & light, tons of shrimp, with delicious citrusy dressing
    - Bruschetta (4.5): Dates and pistachios with ricotta (this one was least tastey of the 3), prosciutto figs with mascarpone (still my fave), and apples walnuts with brie (yums).

Crowd: definitely more sparse during brunch - ambience more relaxed and quiet (versus vibrant scene at night)

Service: 4.5 stars, courteous and attentive.

After coming here several times. I pretty much love this place. I'd opt for the patio out back if you can because the dining room can get a bit stuffy and your clothing will smell like food after a good 20 minutes. Anyways, their bruschetta is REALLY good and I especially like the fig and the salmon w/ capers.

The last time I was here, I had a raspberry chicken salad. I think that was it, but the dressing was really good and when combined w/ the bleu cheese, it gets really good. During happy hour, the wine is 1/2 off so DRINK UP!

Tried B Street & Vine for the first time this week! We went for lunch, and I have to say the other reviewers are right! This is the best place to go for Bruschetta. We had a couple different varieties and they were all wonderful! I also had the Caprese Pannini and that was tasty, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have just ordered more Bruschetta!

This would be a great place to go after work for a drink and of course... some Bruschetta!!! :)

Bruschetta is lovely, and perfectly portioned to share among 3-4 people, even with an appetite. The ingredients are so fresh and the bread so crusty toasty... it's fantastic. I could eat this every day really. Top this with a taste of wine and this is my favorite summery meal.

Love how the back patio area has live music as well as old movies too. Parking is quick and easy - this was a great addition to downtown. Can't really imagine life without it now.

Let me start by saying I've never eaten in-house, we always order to go. I can't comment on the service, but the food is amazing. My man and I love the paninis...he either orders the autostrada (various meats) or the proscuitto and fig. I favor the salmon and goat cheese. Delicious, affordable, quick and served with either salad or chips.

    Must haves: Bruschetta and Wine

    Other entrees: Pass

This restaurant is really awesome.  To avoid waits during Friday or weekend nights, it's best to make a reservation.  The bruschetta is a must try.  One order of bruschetta is $12, and you can choose 4 different pairs of toppings.  This means that each pair of topping will come in 4 small loafs of bread cut into 4 pieces each, so 16 pieces total. Perfect for splitting amongst people.  My favorite pairs were the : prosciutto, fig, and mascarpone; and the salmon and mascarpone.  Wasn't a big fan of the mango and avocado (kind of sour), or the brie and apple.

They have a large selection of wines to choose from too which is awesome and they had moscato ( my favorite!).  There was a live band playing making this a great place to hang out and/or go on dates.  The only setback is that the entree menu is very limited.     There are only soups, paninis, and salads available. My friend and I split a shrimp ceviche salad and were not really happy with what they gave us.  The dressing was a little bit too sour, and shrimp didn't taste fresh.

I would definitely come back though, but next time, I would probably have one order of bruschetta all to myself as opposed to ordering an actual entree since they proved to be inadequate.

Parking here is also a little convenient as it is located by a few parking garages, although it may prove difficult to find a spot at first. Parking is around $0.50 /hr from 8am-6pm on weekdays.

Have driven by this place several times but finally had to the opportunity to go.  They have a very good wine list but the best part is that the prices are very FAIR!  $20-$30 dollar bottles!!  Even though I didn't order any food the prices seemed reasonable and the menu full of appetizing stuff. The place was packed when though they said they would be closing the kitchen soon (around 9:45pm is when we came in for a glass of wine.)

They also had live music on Saturday night.

Bruschetta plate was AWESOME. The sangria by the glass was meh (weak, only limes & lemons in the glass), but our red wines by the glass were good, our panini were tasty (got too full after all the bruschetta!) and the dessert list was tempting but we had no room. Got their early on a Saturday and the place was packed by 7pm when the live music was warming up.

Bottom line: great bruschetta, mediocre service, but i'll definitely come back.

Had tasting portion (4oz) of a sangiovese wine, a bruschetta platter ($12 for 16 pieces!!), spinach salad ($9?) and the soup of the day ($6), cream of artichoke.

Everything was tasty! My favorite bruschetta was the salmon mascarpone, but the salami pesto, hummus tomato avocado, and pepper remoulade with tomato and basil were also good. I love creamy soups, and the cream of artichoke was very nice, with just a hint of spice to liven it up. The spinach salad had a mustard dressing which was not overpowering, bacon crumbles, blue cheese, and lightly cooked red onion.

The ambiance was very nice, live music, warm atmosphere. Service could have been better: water was not refilled, slightly rude when informing us the kitchen would soon close for the night.

However I will definitely go back to make sure i've tried each of the bruschetta varieties.

Everyone was right about the bruschetta - so good! I love that you choose up to four different varieties per order, so that everyone at the table gets a little taste of something they like.

Came here for an "early bird" dinner Saturday night. Early Bird = 4 pm. Yeah, I like eating early, especially on the weekends. Restaurants are generally less crowded, parking is so much easier and there's time to relax and enjoy your meal. I never like feeling rushed through dinner 'cause there's a long line of people lurking by your table. Plus, I had a boatload of work to do and, luckily, my gal pals were willing to accommodate.

What else is good about B Street? Decent wine list with affordable prices. We split a litre of sangria, which was just enough for each of us to have a full glass, plus a top off. Fresh fruit, not too sweet - a winner for sure. I also ordered a raspberry vinaigrette salad to go with the bruschetta, and it was HUGE! OMG, two people could have split this and been satisfied. Wish I could have taken the leftovers home, but salad isn't known for holding up too well.

Overall, a 4-star experience. There are so many delicious downtown San Mateo restaurants and I still haven't tried them all, but I'd come back to B Street for sure.

I went here with a friend of mine Sunday night, and it wasn't busy at all, which was nice. He had the bruschetta, and it's cool because they have quite the list of options that you can choose from, and you can pick 4 kinds from that list.

I had the Panini Caprese with pesto? I don't remember what it was called, but it was a really yummy sandwich. I was a little concerned about the pesto spread because I'm typically anti pesto. I can't stand the taste, but it was a very yummy sandwich. It also came with a salad, and the dressing was good. I will definitely go back.

It was a laid back atmosphere. Nice. Relaxing. Cute.

I heart bread and their fancy bruschetta is TO DIE for. I give them 4 stars just for their bruschetta! Other than that, their food is just okay.  If you come here on a rainy day, try to get a seat inside and not in the tent area because it gets a bit cold and the random leaks along the sides of the tent is distracting.

If this place was on survivor it would have been sent to redemption island (as per my last review), killed on all the duels and made its way back into the game!  I still think it's unbelievable how much of a 180 turn around my experiences here have been.

This is what should be highlighted if presented in front of the eliminated jury:
    - Bruschetta = yummy...well the ones I picked.
    - The large selection of wine = yummy
    - The flight of wine = $
    - The patio = lovely
    - The fact that I've had a great second and third experience here = worth it.

P.S. I'm glad my friends dragged me back here, I love writing updates!

My bestie first took me here almost a year ago and I instantly fell in love.

We ordered a dozen different bruschetta and each one was a new yummy surprise. Even though I do love certain types of humus, the one on their bruschetta probably wasn't one of my faves. But pretty much all the cheeses and meats and fruits were so so guud!! The one negative thing I'd have to say about the bruschetta is that the bread itself was a bit too hard so it was seriously killing the roofs of our mouth!

Their sangria is tasty but for the price not worth it since it doesn't give you a buzz.

Verdict: Would love to come back and try some of their main dishes and desserts! Very quaint place to go with your gf's or significant other. =)

Met up here with Eric, Edgar, Eve and Theo to grab some drinks and try this place out. Overall, the place was good. The bruschetta was good... with some being amazing and others being ok. I'd say stick to the wine over the sangria.

They have a pretty big selection of wine, and why wouldn't you if you were marketed as a wine bar. Not sure what Eric ordered, but it was a decent bottle of red wine that was very drinkable, with a decent alcohol content.

Sangria - This was OK. A little on the sour side, as it seemed like there was TONS of citrus. This mixed with the acidity of the red wine made it a bit tart than most sangria I've had. Maybe it was a bad batch? I'd say add more sugar, or fruits with more sugar.

Bruschetta - all of their bruschetta are served on Acme Breads... which is the same bread Rolli Roti uses for their porchetta sandwiches.. We ordered 2 samplers.

    - Mango Avocado - the most interesting of the bruschetta... slightly sour/underripe mangos and creamy avocado made this take an interesting spin of a roughly chopped guac.

    - Salmon Mascarpone - your Italian version of a bagel with lox.  Pretty standard... slightly sweet and creamy mascarpone with a good helping of smoked salmon that wasn't overly salted.

    - Proscuitto with figs/mascarpone - the saltiness of the proscuitto was heavily contrasted with the sweetness of the figs and the creaminess of the mascarpone. This had a nice flavor amalgamation of salty/sweet.

    - Brie with Apples - think of it as the fast way to do a baked brie... or an openfaced grilled cheese sandwich. A good creamy/salty/tart sandwich as they used granny smith apples.

    - Mushroom, Sweet Pepper, and Feta - Surprisingly refreshing, as the sweet peppers were perfectly roasted to bring out the sugars. The mushrooms were also surprisingly juicy, and the feta added a nice bite to the dish.

    - Salami with Pesto - another sandwich like bruschetta... though not as much meat compared to the others... maybe the same amount of meat as the proscuitto. The pesto was good, but I've had better. The salami was overshadowed by the proscuitto from the other bruschetta.

My roommate suggested this place and said I would like it, so we went and I was so happy we did. This place is known for it's bruschetta (don't pronounce it wrong, they will correct you!), so we got to choose 4 different varieties to taste.

They were way bigger than I had imagined them to be. We got smoked salmon & marscapone, gorgonzola & honey, salumi & pesto, and prosciutto with figs and marscapone. They were all delicious. My favorites were the prosciutto and the smoked salmon. They were so delicious. Even as leftovers they were delicious. Being the fools that we are, we decided to also get paninis.

Not only did we get those paninis, but we decided that we ALSO wanted dessert (you would have too if you would have seen the dessert menu!): Coconut Bread Pudding and Nutella and Marshmallow creme dessert panini. I never had a dessert panini before, but I want more of them. So so delicious, but SO filling! All we had there was bread!

So freaking good, I would definitely go back to this place.

This is THE PERFECT place for afterwork chit-chats with bruschetta and a glass of wine.

Parking is plentiful since it's close to two different parking structures.

If you come here, I would highly recommend getting the bruschetta 4 for $12 (16 pieces total, 4 each).
At first glance, you want to order EVERYTHING. It probably took me and my friend a good 15 minutes to decide. In the end, we ordered the Prosciutto with figs and mascarpone, Salmon and Mascarpone, Hummus, Tomato and Avocado, and the Gorgonzola and Honey.

I LOVED the Prosciutto with figs and mascarpone, people on yelp DEFINITELY are recommending the right things.. I really can't explain why I like it, but the combination is just heavenly!

For the Salmon and Mascarpone, we mostly ordered it because we both LOVE salmon. The smoked salmon was surprisingly fresh and melted in our mouths, add that with the mascarpone and it is simply perfection!

As for the hummus, tomato, and avocado.. all the ingredients were fresh, but the combination was not GREAT.. it definitely wasn't bad, but compared to all the other choices, I would say pick something else

Gorgonzola and Honey.. OMY HOW I LOVED YOU. Definitely eat this one last because it's sweet.. I just LOVED how it ended my bruschetta platter because it was like a bruschetta dessert. At first I thought it was weird that they would put honey into a savory food item, but trust me.. you won't regret getting this one!

Also, if you are in the mood..definitely order a glass or pitcher of sangria... it's really yummy!! Actually, any glass of wine would do since the pricing for them are not that bad..

It really shouldn't be called a wine bar. It's more like a restaurant, and for that, I have not ever had their food...hear it's great. However as for the wine selection...really bad. It's great that everything is on the lower end price wise, but in general just not good choices. My other qualm is that it's super smoky every time we go there. They really need a better ventilation system especially since they do crank that much food out. I stink every time I leave. It's really packed in there too. They've jammed the tables in as much as possible to allow more customers but if they are going for the wine bar feel it's not working. A real space where people can lounge and then a separate place for people to eat would be great.

I been here twice, I like this place. The first time been here was Friday night and they played Jazz music. Think they play Jazz and Blue in the weekends.
They have different kind of wine on the menu, I like the French Carbernet. First time been here had Salmon Salad, Second time had Mediterranean Salad,hmm...YUM !(Fresh and Healthy always my favorite). Next time I must try the BRUSCHETTA ! hmm...

    Bruschetta lovers rejoice!

This was the best restaurant meal I've had in a while, and there really weren't any entrees, per se.  They have a large selection of bruschettas, sandwiches and salads, and our party of four had (mostly) just bruschetta and salads.  Except The Wife, who had a starter with her bruschetta.  It was plenty of food.

When you order the bruschetta, you order four pieces per order, mixing and matching in any way you like.  Goat cheese and roasted red pepper, brie and apple slices, all kinds of goodies.  Every one was fabulous.

The best thing about B Street and Vine is the bruschetta. My first time here, I think I ordered a salad. That was a mistake.

You get to select 4 different types of bruschetta from a list of 12 choices. They have some interesting options. I often get the brie with apples; hummus, tomato and avocado; gorgonzola and honey; and the salmon.

The worst thing about B Street and Vine is the service. It's notoriously slow. If you come for lunch, be prepared to spend at least an hour here (usually more). Take-out at night, however, is a good alternative. The staff themselves are pretty friendly overall.

As amazing as the bruschetta is, when there's only one great dish at a restaurant, it makes visiting on a frequent basis a little difficult. I enjoy B Street and Vine as a treat every once in a while.

B Street and Vine is a great staple of downtown San Mateo, i'm really glad it's close to home.

It's a great place to chill with friends over some wine and food and hang out for a while.

    Service has always bee great.

I love getting a bunch of the sandwiches and sharing them with friends.

any place that serve's cured meats and cheeses is on my good list.

Quaint, intimate and romantic wine bar in San Mateo.  Had a glass of malbec and shrimp ceviche  salad and it was delish! Great spot for a date or dinner with your best friends. Only downfall is that they close early.

WOW - who would've though bruschetta's can be this yummy? They took the idea of bruschetta and just went crazy with it. It's like taking a peanut butter sandwich and turning it into a delux italian sandwich - ok, maybe that's not the best metaphor, but WOW, just wow.

My favorite was the salami with pesto. Everyone at the table loved it too. I think we got like 4 orders of them (4 in each!!) between the 4 of us, haha.  My next favorites were Brie with apples, Prosciutto with figs and mascarpone, and Hummus, Tomato and Avocado (if you don't like hummus, then don't get this). We also got a salad which was just ok - we barely finished half of it.

And oh yeah - $15 for a bottle of red wine? Cha chingggg!! :)

The only thing I know from B Street and Vine is the fantastic, unbeatable 4 piece bruschetta for $12.
there's so many sweet and savory options to choose from! the bread they use is awesome, and a platter of 4 is dinner enough for me, bring friends, 2 orders of bruschetta, (drink water,) and walk out for under $30.
everytime I've gone, the music is jazzy, lighting is dim, and it's a LOT of wine junkies, primarily for the classy 25+/professional people kind of crew.
as a younger person, the ambience is a bit "mature" and I kinda feel like the only reason I'm allowed in is because I meet the alcohol consumption age requirement.
I havent had any of their other food, just the bruschetta because I'm obsessed and you don't feel greased up after eating it.
ordered a glass of sangria, and it was good! I'm not a huge wine person, mainly because I don't think I've found the right one, but their selection is vast looking and I'm sure at some point I'll go there for recommendations, etc.
you can call in and pick up! which is great, because on occasion I've shown up and only been able to glance inside because they're bursting at the seams (probably a good sign!).
they also occassionally close for extended weekends, or they shut down completely for private/business parties, would definitely call ahead of time to make sure they're up and functioning for the public.

The bruschetta are super yummy!!!!!! My friends liked the grilled cheese too!!!  this place is great for people who wants to share food.  One order gives you four small loafs and all the variety has great taste.  Whish they can expand the menu to do more offering without cheese options

Wine and bread do I really need to say more??? Two of my guilty pleasures all under one roof. I love this place! I would advise to stick to the bruschetta though. I don't care for the panini's or salads I've tried but oh bruschetta how I love you! Some of my fav's are the salami with pesto and feta, gorgonzola with honey, brie with apple and pecans & the mascarpone cheese with fig and prosciutto just t name a few. I also love the wine choices. Some of my fav's on the wine list are the Opolo Zin and the Moscato d'Asti dessert wine!

One of my besties and I decided to have a total girls day filled with relaxing by the pool, reading trashy magazines, working out, wearing heels, and of course going to a wine bar for drinks and salads. The whole day would've made me happy enough, but this place made it extra perfect!

We got a little table near the window, and took a look at their menu. Immediately I noticed that they had my favorite white wine- Vouvray. I don't usually see it at wine bars, so I was thrilled to find it here. We also ordered their plate of 4 brushettas:

    Brie w/ Apples
Fresh Mozzarella w/ tomato and basil
    Prosciutto w/ figs and mascarpone
    and Wild mushroom

They were all super tasty, but my favorite was the Prosciutto w/ figs, yummmy....the flavor combos were a beautiful mixture of sweet, salty and creamy.

We also ordered 2 of their salads, which were quite large. I had the Spinach Salad, which was really tasty, and my friend had the Raspberry Chicken salad w/out chicken, which she really enjoyed as well.

To top off the experience, they had a live jazz band playing behind us.

    Definitely coming back!
