The Rib Shack has been around for generations. It's still a local favorite, and for good reason. The interior is very casual to say the least, but BBQ is supposed to be casual. The food is good and the portions are generous. The only issue is the BBQ sauce. I like a tangy sauce with a bit of a bite, this sauce is sweet with no bite whatsoever. That's probably why it does such a good business, as it will appeal to a wider audience that doesn't necessarily eat a lot of BBQ.
If you looking for a good BBQ meal that everyone can enjoy, at a reasonable price, the Rib Shack should fill your needs. -

The 5 stars are for the ribs themselves. The "Shack" is truly rustic but who cares about the atmosphere as long as it's clean and the ribs are great. For the amount and the quality of food you get the prices are very reasonable. Again, the ribs are great, the sides (baked beans, slaw, fries/baked potato) are excellent, and the onion rings are the best I've ever had. Also, a thumbs up to the wait staff who have never failed to deliver good service and a drink refill whenever you need it.

Stopped in over the weekend cause it looked like a great little hole in the way kind of joint. Busy as could be which speaks well for them. They have been open for over 50 years and from what I can tell, it is simply because they have good food. The place is not much to look at, picnic tables inside a little loud building. Food was pretty good, although not as good as I had hoped. The BBQ sauce was a bit plain and there was not much smoke flavor in the meat, but the quality of meat was very good.
The best thing there hands down was the onion rings. I could just put BBQ sauce over those and eat those all day long.
A bit expensive in my opinion for this little town, however I am from Chicago so I didn't mind. And....with the traffic they have going through this place, you can't argue with their success.
I also found their hours to be very limited, only open for dinner Tuesday-Sunday and closed on Mondays.
Again, you can't argue with success, but this place could make a killing if they opened up for lunch and also offered additional or possibly outdoor seating. -

I loved this place. The portions were ridiculously large, the prices were low, and the building was old and rustic--just the way a good barbecue joint should be. I had the pork and ribs combo plate. It was a mountain of food. I ate most of the meat, but didn't put much of a dent in the sides. If you're in the area and are craving a BBQ fix, come give this place a shot.

The B-Q Rib Shack has a great atmosphere. It is very "smalltownish". The service is quick and accurate. The food portions are good.
The ribs are very tender and taste great, however the 1/4 chicken was just ok. The sauce is above average.
You can get a sandwich for $5, and rib plates range from $12 up
I would definitely go back.
