Review from Mike S.
New York, NY
This was the first restaurant that i visited while in KW. LOVED that it's really a shack. The people were super friendly, there was plenty of seating and the service was fast.
I had a conch sandwich, which was pretty good to me . But i really have nothing to base that against. But i did enjoy it. The fish of the day sandwhich ( mahi mahi that day ) was incredible. The prices were good and the whole restaurant was a pleasure to sit in. Would highly recommend. -

Not happy with this place, it was moderately buisy but we waiting about 30 min for our order. Very basic offerings, the price was bit high even for Key West. $30 for 2 sandwiches with no extras. 1 water and 1 key lime lemonade.
Grouper sand - the grouper is good, but there is a 4oz fillet with half a loaf of bread. Waaaaaay outta proportion. Ordered both with the works and got a tiny dab of sauce so the sandwich was very dry.
Soft shell crab sand - better on the crab portion (around 6oz) but still too much bread and dry dry dry.
yes, the place is "junky" and neato but I came for the food and the most enjoyable part was leaving. -

If you have trouble finding B O's Fish Wagon, just be on the lookout for something that looks like it belongs on the set of Sanford & Son. Seriously, it kinda looks like discarded trash/garbage dump. But that's kind of the charm......very laid back, very casual & very friendly staff.
Fried grouper sandwich was good, very fresh fish. (I wasn't that thrilled with the bread).
Key Limeade was great.
We stopped by here after spending the day at Fort Zachary beach so we were sweaty, salty and hungry. My son was nervous that he wouldn't be served because he had no shirt with him. No worries..........there is certainly no dress code at B O's lol -

We found this place via YELP recommendation for good fish. It was a very casual outdoor place, with reasonable prices and great fish. We had the fried grouper which was two decent sized pieces with a good amount of fries and also the broiled catch of the day which my husband really enjoyed. Service was speedy and we thought good fish for about ten bucks per person, which for the Keys was a great bargain.

Our 3 different bus drivers for the day did not lie when they recommended this eclectic joint for its fish sandwiches. I will admit, I was highly skeptical based on how run-down it looks, but the decor is very quirky/unique and a fun change of atmosphere from the places I'm used to.
First of all, this place is BUSY during lunch hour and packed with locals--that's how you know it's good. One woman I spotted was still in her wedding dress after leaving her ceremony...seemed like she ran right down to get her food!
Runs about $10-12 for a sandwich, but the portion size is generous and the fish is fresh, juicy, and tender. +$1 to get it grilled, but I can't complain too much. I love that everything is made to order and the fish is grilled or fried right in front of you. The bread could be a little more fresh, but again... not too much to complain about.
All-around fun place to eat at... glad we took the recommendations rather than eating at a more formal restaurant down the street. An authentic Key West experience :) -

It is a very fun restaurant. I was immediately attracted by its decorations, then after I tried the food, emm...I need to share this with friends, it is great.
I was passing the street, and noticed this restaurant. It has an old car as a decoration outside the restaurant. I immediately took my camera and caught the view. Then I wanted to see how's the inside look. The theme of the restaurant is "old", so you could see old ship stuff, like anchors, float balls.
They have fresh fish every day, so you can ask what kind of fish they have on that day, choose the fish of the day. I ordered grilled shrimp and rice and bean as the side. The shrimp is just so fresh, great taste. The rice and bean is amazing. I strongly recommend it. Besides I had Key lime maid, not very sweet, and tastes great.
I definitely recommend this place, fresh seafood, fun decorations, and good price! -

Impressively junky setting. Slaw dog was good. Grouper sandwich was a bit bland.

Review from Thom H.
Terrific fish sandwich, but buy were they slammed when we went for lunch. To be fair, it was Presidents' Day, which is probably one of their busiest days all year. Felt bad for the locals, they were obviously pissed by all the tourists!
If the kitchen were faster, it would be five stars. A Key West institution, don't miss it. -

Yes, as others have noted, the place looks like a dump. But it is everything you could hope for in a hole-in-the wall, un-touristy fish joint. The soft shell crab sandwich is now the only way I want to eat crab (none of the work and all of the enjoyment). The grouper sandwich (which is proudly only served fried) and conch fritters were great! And who doesn't love free refills on limeade?

You know, for a city having a reputation for great seafood, there aren't any GOOD, cheap seafood spots. Except the wagon. If you're lucky enough to catch them and there isn't a line, definately hit them up, they love their craft, and it shows. Definite stop anytime I'm in old key west.

Review from Glenn G.
Key West is an amazing place with beautiful landscaping and all sorts of attractions (each one more lovely than the last), but there are the typical not so attractive too; like the municipal parking lot on Caroline Street. As you walk across the lot there's this arrangement of trash and scrap wood that as you approach turn out to be an oasis of coolness. This run-down pile of rubble transformed into a very well arranged and comfortable restaurant. In the center of the "hole in the wall" is a trailer (kitchen on wheels) where they serve customers "fast casual" style (order/pay at counter and wait for food delivery to your table).
First time I was hesitant, after all the place is made up of trash, but as the old adage goes "one man's garbage is another man's treasure". And the vibe is happening, not to mention that there is a steady stream of customers every time I have been here.
Conch fritters are a highly recommended must have. First and only place that I had conch fritters with large, noticeable pieces of conch, great seasoned filler/breading and cooked perfectly. I also recommend the grilled fish of the day sandwich or soft shell crab sandwich. Mmmm getting that conch fritter craving just writing about it.
Food is a high four (close to a five) but rather expensive so no way could I give the hard-to-recieve five star, but don't hesitate to try this winner out.Listed in: Cayo Hueso (aka Key West), Between 2 Slices of Bread

MIDDLE VLG, NY
Love the atmosphere and the food. A fried grouper sandwich, fries, coleslaw, soft shell crab sandwich and two key limeades. OMG. Key limeades were amazing. I must note that I love limeade to being with. It's a nice change from lemonade. Fried grouper was so fresh and everything was made to order. Soft shell crab sandwich hit the spot. Fries were decent, coleslaw was great.
Make sure you order the drinks (alcoholic) from the bar up front, then stand in line to order your food. Then you sit down (approx 15 min) and they will call your name and bring you your food. -
Review from Marisol F.

From the outside you're hesitant to go in and order food because it looks like a sh*t hole at first glance, but once you go in it actually has a wonderful atmosphere and the place is full of character. The guys at the counter where you order were very friendly and made some great suggestions. They suggested conch fritters and glad we listened. They were amazing and we enjoyed every single bite. They didn't have much breading which made them so good. I also had a soft shell crab sandwich with key lime mayonnaise dressing that I shared with a friend and it was out of this world. I really wished I had my own because I enjoyed it so much.
Next time I am back in Key West I am definitely coming back but this time I AM NOT SHARING WITH ANYONE. -
Review from Forest R.

Hip place with good food. I said good, not great. The conch fritters were average, but the main dish I had was really good (grilled mahi mahi). The atmosphere is very hip and the place has a good vibe. Worth a visit if you are on that side of the island, but not worth a special trip.

Get over the birds everywhere, and dig in. Ice cold beer, friendly employees, and malt vinegar for the fries. Conch fritters are like a revved up hush puppy. I love hush puppies ask loved these. Would go back!

I also did some research some time ago, looking for places with the "local" go. Was getting tired of the Duval tourist food, even though, that is good too. Most locals choose this place to eat, and to stay off the "beaten path" of Duval St.
What a find. As far a my wife and I are concerned, this is the Best Grouper sandwich place. Period!!!! Read up on the story of the "old truck" out in front. But, inside is where all the good stuff is. Sure, conch fritters a good, but, that grouper is something else. Their batter is much different than most places. We think that adds to the taste. Check it out. Don't be afraid of the stuff out front. It only emphaisis the good stuff inside. Only wish they were a little larger, to accomadate large crowds.
We always go as we leave Key West, or just arrive. You'll be glad you did. -

Fellow Yelpers nailed this one. It's a dive. Not much for atmosphere, comfortable seating, etc. That said, the food is off the charts. We both opted for fish and chips with ice cold beer. Also, made our first foray into the world of conch fritters. Loved it all!
Seems the secret is out as the line was long the entire time we were seated. Prices are right and the food an exceptional value. Just for grins...they throw in very friendly and helpful service. -

I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere. Such a cool/Funky clam shack. Essentially all outdoor seating. Conch fritters VERY different than Cracked Conch- The conch fritter were very good with big pieces of conch. Staff was extremely friendly and energetic - gave us great recommendations. I'd say this place is an excellent find until sadly we were surrounded by smokers! No way to get away from them ... really put a huge damper on the experience - had to get out of there.

Great atmosphere for an eclectic hole-in-the-wall fish joint. Grouper sandwich could have benefited from more key lime mayo and less or even no bread. Grilled fish of the day sandwich (mahi) also needed more mayo. Generally good but wasn't amazing. Didn't get to try the conch fritters. Maybe next time.

This is just the kind of place I love.
Over the top kitschy, tacky 'decor'? CHECK!
Walk up order window? CHECK!
Friendly staff who are not afraid to joke around? CHECK!
Great food! CHECK!
My friend and I scoped this place out before they opened one morning after hitting up the Cuban Coffee Queen for the first time. Our spidey senses went off about this place so we came back the next day. Given that 'FISH WAGON' is in the name, we both shyed away from the 'land' based meals and both went for fish. I had the fish of the day sandwich with a side of cole slaw. The fish was Mahi Mahi and was delicious.
The sandwiches are simple; Light fluffy bread, freshly fried fish, tartar, lettuce, tomatoes & onions (all freshly sliced...I saw them prepping earlier). The fish is breaded not battered and was not greasy in the least. With a splash of hot sauce it was just divine. The cole slaw was crispy, creamy and not soupy at all. A couple of beers and I was golden.
Stop by B.O.'s, you don't need to be brave. You just need to like a good fish sandwich! -

A staple in the streets of Old Town, no trip to KW is complete without a visit to B O's Fish Wagon. It's busy most of the time so just accept it, get in line and pop a squat.
On our latest visit, DW went with the soft shell crab snagwich (their signature item) and I went with the fried shrimp. We shared a fries (hand cut) and a lime aid.
All the food is cooked fresh so if it takes a few minutes for your food to arrive, just sit back and relax, your in Key West after all. They'll call your name, bring your food to your table and you'll be munching in no time.
They only take cash, learned this the hard way on my last visit. Definitely put this place on your "to-do" list if you are visiting KW. -

A Key West local told me to check out this place. He also warned that it was definitely a dive. Being the brave eater that I am, I had to check it out. I'm so glad that I did.
We had an order of conch fritters for the table (after all, this was the conch fritter tour of Key West), I had the cracked conch sandwich all the way, with a side of slaw and everyone else had fried grouper sandwiches. The food is cooked to order, so there is always a wait. Fortunately, we got there at a good time and our food came out relatively quickly.
When the food finally came out, it smelled delicious. This has to be the BEST cracked conch I've ever had! Add the key lime mayo to it and the sandwich was heaven on a plate! The conch fritters were the best ones we had all weekend. They were a little spicy and had big chunks of conch inside. The slaw was nothing amazing, but I was so happy with my conch that I didn't care. If you're not afraid of sticky tables and little dives, this place is perfect.
BO's only takes cash, but have no fear, there are ATMs all around. Be prepared to pay a $3.25 fee at the ATM at the quick stop down the street. -

This place is amazing! Stopped in one night to try some fried sea food and it did not disappoint. I had 2 fried soft shell crab with coleslaw and fries. The crabs were perfectly cooked and very delicious. If you are ever in Key West you have to get off Duval St and try this place!

Review from John D.
Personally, we think that it's over-rated. We both got the Grouper sandwiches, and they were incredibly simple and flavorless. It was unseasoned (from what we could tell) fried Grouper fillets on some flavorless white bread buns, with a little sauce. That's it. Maybe if you lived in the Midwest or something, this would be phenomenal.
The Conch fritters were OK, but we found ourselves wondering where the conch was. The limeade was actually quite good, though. But $42 for two sandwiches, one coleslaw, one 6pc Conch fritters, and two limeades?
It really is a shack, so it's not like there's a lot of overhead. The whole point of going to a shack is to get great food at a bargain price. Not mediocre food at the same prices as traditional restaurants. -

Had to come two days in a row!
Seriously delicious fried shrimp $12 and conch fritters abou $1.25 each. The cole slaw was a wee bit dry, my a bit of their key lime mayo jazzed it right up. Also my first deep fried hot dog $5. All their sandwiches are on cuban bread.
Buy their key lime mayo to go...$5 for a pint. -

Don't judge a book by it's cover - from the outside B O's Fish Wagon looks un-inviting. It looks dirty and like it was constructed of beach debris. But the service was excellent and the Grouper sandwich, chicken sandwich, fries and the Key Limeaide was fantastic! Really looking forward to going back.

I'm not a fried fish connoisseur by any means, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But from the reviews I thought something amazing was about to enter my face.
Yeah, it's a pretty good fried grouper sandwich, if that's what you're looking for. But that's about it. It's white fish, fried, stuffed between bread. MMmm? Ok. But for all the amazing food we found in Key West, this place disappointed in comparison.
The sandwich came out pretty quick, looking like nothing special. "This," I thought, "must be a disguise." Bread, untoasted, squishy white roll smothering the fried fish filet with lettuce, tomato and some mild sauces.
I was just generally unimpressed. The atmosphere is hipster-tchotchke-chic with writing on the walls, license plates from various states, picnic tables in the dirt, tent-like walls and that not-so-clean feeling people seem to love.
I was just sad I'd wasted a meal on a rather mundane fishwich. When I was done, I wanted to hop in the DeLorean and find some place more delicious to spend my stomach space. -
Review from Megan M.

This place is solid for basic fried seafood and a few cold ones in a fun, ramshackle atmosphere.
Both times I've gotten the fried grouper, and it's tasty with some french fries on the side. The last time, the bf got fried mahi mahi, which was also good. I don't love conch fritters, but the batter here was well seasoned.
It's super chill with random stuff on the walls and bare-bones picnic tables for eating. Stop in one afternoon and kick back with some simple, down-home seafood!Listed in: Key West Fun

Neat freaks need not apply. Let's just saw BO's has the decor of an underwater gas station. That is, of course, part of it's undeniable charm.
I had 6 conch fritters, fries and fried grouper. The fish was fresh - and considering it was steps away from the dock, I expected as much. At risk of looking like a peasant, I'll admit this was my first experience with conch fritters. Without basis for adequate comparison, let's just say they seemed like an islands interpretation of hush puppies. Not that that's a bad thing.
Overall, tasty. But if you drop a French fry as you strain to read the assorted graffiti scrawled on the cielings... Remember that the five-second-rule isn't enforced on the premisis -

This place reminded me of a food truck that broke down and built a mini restaurant around it. Loved it!
Best hot dog ever! It is deep fried. Wow! Not breaded, just fried and served on Cuban bread. Wow is all I can say. Recommend this place! -

My friends and I came for lunch because of a friend's referral. This place is a dive. The diviest. It's as casual as you can get as atmosphere goes. That being said, the food is pretty darned good. It is a bit pricey, however, what isn't in Key West! Loved the conch fritters! They were off the charts. Also, my grouper sammie was excellent. Grab a cold beer and have a grouper sandwich and fries. Try the Texas Pete pepper sauce! Hot and Yum! The 2 roosters hanging out at our feet loved the fries too! I will happily return!
