Summary: It's basically a fast food alternative for people not looking to make the sit-down-and-tip commitment, but still want something tasty.

I eat at b.good a lot. I mean, once a week during a workweek, minimum. And it's good if you're like me, a boring food person. I order almost everything plain. My typical meal would be: Turkey burger, cheddar cheese on a wheat bun, plain. Regular fries. Diet soda. I have been probably a hundred times and have only had one wrongly prepared order. They have a small menu relatively speaking but the  items can be prepared almost any which way so you can change it up.

It's a little pricey, but not for the neighborhood. Also they have a very nice rewards program; I seem to get a free sandwich every fourth or fifth visit.

The fries here vary. Because they are baked and not fried, they don't stay fresh for some reason that long. So sometimes you might have bad fries. They seem to understand and have given me new fries when I've let them know.

Staff is friendly. They remember my name and order, and are always smiling.

Why is there no good place to eat on Dartmouth Street?

While I was in the area, I stopped by this place and immediately noticed a sparse menu on the wall.  I decided on Buffalo Chicken Sandwhich with fries, a 16oz stawberry shake, and a bottle of water.  The Buffalo Chicken Sandwhich was good.  The chicken was fresh and tender on the inside.  However, the fries were the worst I have ever had.  They were rather stale, some of them were really hard, and it had to be salted up a lot.  The strawberry shake tasted more like a yogurt based smoothie than a real milkshake.  But that part of my meal was alright.  Overall, I was disappointed and for a minute I thought I was being punked.  The price of the my entire meal was $14.

Ouch!!! I can't imagine why they charge that much money for such a meal of ordinary size and subpar quality.  Can't take the family here.  A family of four could conceivably spend over $40 dollars here since I did not notice a kids meal, but I could be wrong.   Let me repeat that again...Ouch!!!

Delicious fast food, cheap prices, good customer service from a new local business.

I love the decor of the new Brookline location - I'm a big fan for converted old garages (see Diesel Cafe in Davis Sq) - and I love that B.Good provides a quick meal on the cheap.  It's so healthy they put the calories on their menu.

Their fries are excellent - better than McDonald's with all it's I-don't-know-what in it, so good they don't need ketchup.   Excellent seasoning. And the raspberry smoothie is to DIE for.  So so good.  I almost always get the SW veggie burger, but when I don't I get the "Adopted Luke" as a veggie burger.  Both are excellent.

Delicious! They are fast and friendly. Love how they source locally. Menu is awesome-especially for gluten free. I like the salads and seasonal sides. The decor their business model are fun to read about- they name their food after customers, etc. always clean. Have the no fry fries. Incredible!!

Not only do I love b.good, I think this is the best location (although the Harvard Square one is pretty nice).

I used to work down the street and they always (acted) pleased to get an obnoxious order from picky eaters. I think their service with a smile mixed with real locally grown food is the winner here.

I've tried half of the sandwiches they offer (West-Side, El Guapo, and Adopted Luke) and I've never been disappointed. Additionally, their veggie burger is great (but sometimes super messy, watch out!)

Imagine this: a perfectly toasted and potentially buttered bun with a tasty, not dry, veggie burger patty. Now, top it with some swiss cheese, mushrooms, and caramelized onions. Hold the BBQ sauce, please.

I am a french fry lover, I really am. These fries are DELICIOUS! These bad boys are freshly cut (or so they say) and ready for us to eat!

Let's talk about beverages: I love how they freshly brew their own iced tea. It's perfectly sweetened and delicious. Their milk shakes and smoothies are also DELICIOUS. They had this amazing pumpkin shake a year ago that I couldn't get enough of.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a quick and delicious bite to eat, go here. Watch out for the line around lunch time, though!

I love burgers but I do like this place
nope it wasn't my favorite joint ever, but surprisingly the burgers are very good and filling and the baked fries are amazing

I wish i can reply to some of the comments so here I go
for the comment about the calorie intake, 1. every calorie counts so there is no deception in that, 2. with the other joints i don't feel full and probably would eat two of those sandwiches just to satisfy me but with b.good even the sandwich is enough for me and the fries I would be sharing them!!!

For the cold reheated burger, have you ever confronted them? they did it once and you said nothing so why not doing it again? they thought you were their garbage disposal.

finally for the nice theory of the 80/20 ratio, umm yes that works well on an open barbeque grill, for the hot plate style cooking, I'm not sure that fat content is necessary also there are no real burger regulations LOL

I did hear bad comments about the other b.good joints and they're probably true but the one on Dartmouth st. was always good for the many visits i had 2 yrs ago and I hope they didn't change to worse

finally what do i think about flavor? I believe it's that great so I knocked 1 star away

Because of the name I expected the food to be good....on the contrary...

The best thing from that night was their peach ice tea and that's why they're getting the 1 extra star...

The burger was juicy but had no flavor, the fries, as well as the sweet potato fries, were nothing to rave about...

    (updated 6/10):

review based on the Newbury St location but thought i'd group it under here since the focus was still on food/price more than locale.

roaming on Newbury St. on a weekend lunch time after trying out some gowns w/a bride-to-be friend who had just eaten before the apointment, went into this place to grab a bite for myself.  had it to go since our meters were both running out as the clock ticked away.  ordered a burger w/fries (NOT on combo menu) and 2 smoothies/drinks; the bill came to a whopping $20!!!!  what the he!l.

having the food steam & soak in the bag during my walk/drive back, i mean, i could IMAGINE it not being that bad when it first came out.  but at the moment, the burger was cold and the fries were soggy.  i wish i had spent 1/3 of what i paid for on a chinese take-out order instead.

The only reason I'm giving b.good 2 stars is because of their milkshakes. They're awesome. Just make sure to go to the gym afterwards!

Otherwise, the food is 1 star. I appreciate that they use quality ingredients, but it just doesn't work for some reason. The burgers are very average and the fries were too soggy. I have never NOT liked french fries until I tried theirs.

    B. Good has many locations throughout Boston and Cambridge. I've frequented the Dartmouth Street and Newbury Street locations.

The food seems like a healthier alternative to most fast food locations and with full transparency, they list calories and nutritional information on their menu and website.

I am happy to frequent B.Good for their Turkey Burgers, seasonal shakes, and baked fries. I really enjoy their crispier fries, two versions sweet potato and regular. You can sub out fries for veggies and make it a combo with fruit or yogurt shakes for a $10 meal.

This is the buffalo turkey burger, which is juicy, the bleu cheese and buffalo has the right balance of heat and tang. The fries are crispy for baked fries. I would suggest El Guapo and there are great seasonal salads.

There are specials including the Goomba burger (swiss and mushrooms) which is to die for!

Last week I got a small milkshake that was warm and melted.  It was a total anomaly.  So I called to let them know and they manager said to come in any tmie for a free large one.  I did, and it was perfect.

I've been going to Bgood since they opened their first store on Dartmouth Street.  Best local chain, best fast food, and best value I have found in all of boston.  It's the only place i go to for a burger and fries because its healthy AND tastes good!!

The staff is always nice.  Service is always quick.

I don't know the last time i even went to McDonalds.  I like Bgood so much, i dont even crave McDonalds fries like i used to.   If you have a healthworks Membership, you even get a discount!!

I eat lunch at b.good 3 times a week because I work in the office building right next door. I just LOVE this place! I'm a vegetarian and their veggie burger is one of my favorites in the world. I'm full after one veggie burger but never have that gross, fast-food stomach achey feeling because the burger is actually healthy!

    Three things:
    1) Try the secret sauce on the Cousin Oliver - it's awesome!
    2) The Drunk Elvis shake is also awesome. It combines banana, peanut butter and chocolate and makes for a great afternoon snack.
    3) The staff here rocks - if you go often enough like I do, they will remember your name which I find pretty cool. :)

Their Mass Ave Location is by far the best. I go here at least once a week!

The West Side is my favorite. Patty, Guacamole, Cheddar Cheese, Caramelized Onions and a Chipotle Sauce on a wheat bun. Sounds very unhealthy but oh gaaahhh is soooooo delicious!! And the best part is you dont get that bloated, disgusting feeling after you eat it. It's usually all I get. Their sweet potatoes beat their regular potatoe fries. It just tastes so  fresh given it's fast food.

    I like burgers.
    REAL burgers.

NOT freeze dried, loaded with hormones and zapped with the microwave look-alikes that you find in McDonald's and similar establishments.

I like burgers with real meat, lettuce, tomato, and bun.  Simple.

Lucky for me, that's what they sell here.  Real food.

As an added bonus, b.good buys all their meat and produce from local farmers.  Even the potatoes that they use to make the fries.

    I'm down with that.

Here's a tip: join their mailing list and you get all kinds of awesome freebee coupons (note: they used to be totally free which rocked, now it's more "buy one get one free", which is still good if you're headed over with a friend). This local mini-chain knows how to take care of their "family".

I'm a big fan of turkey burgers and have found their version to be pretty tasty for the price (and really, where else can you get "fast food" turkey burgers?). I was excited when they changed their menu so that you could choose what kind of toppings went on whatever kind of burger you ordered (non-beef burgers only used to come with one or two set of options), so you can mix it up and customize how you want.

Sweet potato fries are yummy, and they have this side order of veggies (carrots, brocolli, red peppers) stir-fried in some kind of sesame soy sauce that is such a great healthy and delicious snack, I stop by just for that as a pick-me-up sometimes (Back Bay location too- actually makes me not mind having to take the commuter rail). Fruit shakes are decent as well.

This location is particularly small and gets jammed at lunchtime, so just beware. But it's really nice to have a non-gross fast food option available; you don't feel like you've just eaten a ton of grease and fat after eating here, it's perfect for a quick cheap meal on the go. I'm really glad b. good exists.

(Borrowed from my review of the now-defunct Brookline location.)

Some people said that this was "healthy" fast food....FALSE. Got a veggie burger and fries with a pumpkin shake. The pumpkin shake was the highlight of the meal. The fries were just okay...they were really soggy. I happen to like soggy fries, but these were over-sogged. The veggie burger as The Monty had really good Vermont cheddar, tomatoes, and some giant pickles. The pickles were yummy. I was super hungry, but it was way too much food, I couldn't finish the burger and only ate about half the fries so I felt a little bit wasteful.

That being said, I wish they would get some quality condiments and soda to complement their food. The sodas and ketchup (and most likely the ice cream that went into my shake) all had high fructose corn syrup in them, which is an atrocity. So if b.good wants to come across as either healthy or environmentally conscious, go full out! Don't half-ass it :)

For someone who does not make a lot of money, I can be picky on how and where I will spend my money. I have chosen b.good as one of the places I actually will spend money because I'm always left feeling full and satisfied.

The burgers are always great! They are freshly made to order. The all-natural fresh cut fries are amazing. I am no the biggest fan of the sweet potato fries, but I'll eat them if friends order them.

I recommend any item on the menu. You will probably want to try a few to find what you think is the "best" burger because they all have different tastes. What I will say is that the burgers come out consistent and are always juicy.

    Mmmm, Mmmm!

The smoothies and shakes are always very well made and are so tasty. You MUST try them!

And, for some reason, they have really good soda. I'm unsure if the fountain drinks use more syrup rather than the carbonation, but the soda is just tastier compared to other places with fountain drinks. Seriously.

b.good is just good all around.

If you only eat one thing from b.good, make it the Cousin Oliver, with real hamburger meat, of course and top it with cheddar cheese. It  can only be described as childhood backyard barbeque burger euphoria in my mouth.

b.good is all about local - local meat, local veggies, all fresh, all organic, all grass roots. They make everything to order (no burgers sitting on a warmer, no bowls of salad waiting to be ordered) I love the concept because of two things:

    1. the food is fresher and it tastes a hell of a lot better
    2. we get to support our farmer neighbors

I've not been disappointed with b.good in the year+ I've been patronizing them. I've tried the Allston location as well, and they did not disappoint.

The staff is down to business and friendly as well. They get their job done with a smile. Service is extremely fast as well. Never waited more than 10 minutes for anything.

The shakes will blow your mind too - ice cream or fruit, you decide!

If you want quick, fresh, tasty and healthier-than-most food, do b.good. It will do you good.

Prices are extremely reasonable for quality and portions of food as well, never feels like I'm breaking the bank.

This rating is based purely on the sweet potato fries - flavor,  value, and speed are all winning factors here!!!

I fell in love with their BAKED (not fried!) sweet potato fries ever since the first time I ate them.

The sweet potatoes themselves are delivered daily from local farmers and cut into thick stubby pieces. The order is $2.65 total plus tax and baked in their speedy "oven" for a good 5 minutes or more. I love the fact that they are soft and moist on the inside but perhaps the outside COULD use a little more time to crisp up. However you get a variety of pieces, small to big, so there are textures from crunchy to smushy.

They're hot, sweet, only lightly salted and hits the spot every. single. time. I have since the 1st time I ate here gone to buy an entire bottle of organic ketchup JUST so I can come here and pick up sweet potato fries to bring home and eat.

Mmmmmm....if you're one who loves softer, thicker sweet potato fries, you will love these.

Stopped by the B Good near Back Bay T stop with Jenna C after we left the Yelp event at Pho. We had a couple drinks in us and wanted something to munch on before we drank some more.

Got a buffalo chicken sandwich and it wasn't bad at all. Wasn't AMAZINGLY ORGASMICALLY OMG I NEED TO WRITE ABOUT IT ON YELP type of sandwich, but it did the trick.

Nice staff, fast service, decent prices, good food. I would try it again and maybe I'd find a sandwich that I couldn't live without...but as of now, it was fine.

I do like that the things cooked here are grease-free. I like that they're fast and friendly. I'm not really the calorie-counting type and before some calorifically-obsessed friends in university decided to educate me, I didn't know the difference in how many calories was in a banana or a cheesecake. However, I do now appreciate that they at least tell you how many calories are in the foods you order here. Just remember, they are healthier because they're made without being grease-buckets, but some of their burgers are still 600-700 calories.

Anyway, whether it's "right" or "wrong", I'm more of the type to judge food by how good (or bad) it tastes rather than its caloric content. The stuff here is pretty good: It's tasty enough, and I do like the spiced baked fries (or baked potato chips as they would more accurately be called)! However, they're not the most amazingly deliciously scrumpalicious burgers and chips I've ever had, and I can't see myself getting cravings for this place. If I were in the area, I would stop by, and I wouldn't say no if someone suggested it. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here though, and food-taste-wise I'd categorize it as decent or 'just ok'.

Sure, it's gourmet burgers. Once a week, I don't have a problem shelling out $8 for a fancy, well-made, healthy burger-fries-drink combo.  At first I was addicted to the b.good burger (without mushrooms). Now I'm in love with the East Side (mmm...avocado). But really, I haven't had anything here I haven't liked. Well, sometimes the sauces are too zingy, but then I'm a wimp for spiciness. The fries are yummy, and the milkshakes are a real treat. The chicken sandwiches are also great.

It tends to get packed at lunchtime, but the servers are always friendly, and the music is good while you wait. I think they've added recycling bins recently, too. And the self-deprecating humor in the newsletters? Priceless.

UPDATE:  In the larf of the century, B-good has mysteriously "updated" all of their nutrition info based on new lab results.  Remember those amazing oven baked fries that only had 100 calories per serving. Well, turn out they have over twice that much.  I can't really figure how you are better off going here than Wendy's, now that it's not even HEALTHIER.

The burgers taste like crap, but the fries are pretty good. You just can't make a good burger out of extra lean sirloin. NEWSFLASH; the flavor comes from the fat. Burgers should be made out of 80/20 chuck at least. Yeah, you can slather lots of toppings on the burger and season the patty to try and mask the fact that the burger is dried out, tasteless, tragedy, but that just makes it an edible sandwich, not a good burger.

I also laugh at the fact that people think its healthy. What do you think has more calories, a b-good "cousin oliver" (the most basic burger) or a Wendy's classic single?

Answer: the b-good burger. Even the fat content is no big deal. A cousin oliver has 12 grams fat and 4 g. of saturated fat. A classic single has 20 grams of fat and 7 g of saturated fat. Whoop de do. the Wendy's tastes better.

    Let's do some more comparisons!

The B-Good adopted luke burger (mushroom swiss) vs. the dread BIG MAC!

Adotped Luke: 641 calories, 21 grams fat, 10 grams saturated fat

Big Mac: 540 calories, 29 grams fat, 10 grams saturated fat .

    The numbers don't lie folks.

B-Good is a sham. They serve tasteless garbage burgers and have convinced idiots that they are healthy. The one thing that might be worth it are the fries, which are baked and significantly less caloric than regular fries. But,  If you're going to eat a burger, and you should!, please get one that you might actually enjoy.  I'm off to R.F. O'Sullivans!

Where do I even start?  This place is my most recent lunch obsession.  I started to feel super guilty about all the turkey burgers I was eating, but after visiting the website and checking the nutrition info I discovered that my loaded up burger and sweet poatato fries combined still had less calories than some of the salads and sandwiches at Au Bon Pain and Paradise Bakery.

The food is awesome and I love that they support local agriculture.

Wow! This is awesome! The atmosphere was neat (felt more like a cafe than a fast food joint), the service was pretty good (they were helpful in trying to figure out if the cheese had rennet-- it does), and the food was DELICIOUS! The prices are pretty good, too.

This is no 39 cent burger place-- my White Bean Veggie Burger with sun dried tomatoes, spinach and pesto was around $6, and my side of crisp veggies was around $2 (though you can get the veggies for free if you get them instead of the bun). It was the best veggie burger I've had in my 14 years of vegetarianism. No joke.

My friend Chris ordered the fries, which are baked (not fried), and they were VERY delicious. Just don't let them get cold. Once they're cold they suck. Chris also had the mango fruit shake, which he noted tastes much like an Orange Julius, for those of you who know what that is. In short, it was great.

I e-mailed the owners to ask about vegan and veggie options, and they were very receptive, responsive, and promised to improve their selection.

I will most certainly come back here (and to the Harvard Sq. location) often.

Thanks, Yelp, for helping me discover B. Good!

Eh. I think the idea is a good one. But there's not much about burgers and fries that you can make that healthy. You could substitute turkey for beef, or use lean beef, or whatever. But I wasn't a fan.

And this place is wicked expensive. I paid for my boyfriend's meal and it was over $25 bucks for both our meals. I was shocked. Sorry but I'm a college student, ok?

The fries? I thought they were gross. My boyfriend liked them though. And the milkshakes? Double gross. The stuff that was "healthy" was bland, and there's plenty of ways to make healthy food taste good.

What I love most about B Good is their marketing.  I know that sounds strange, but these guys do a great job making you feel a part of the family.  I recommend signing up on their website.  They send monthly updates with offers of free fries, shakes, and the newest menu items.   They have contests to name items and offers to make burgers for your friends or shakes for your co-workers.  They support local talent by inviting musicians to play in their restaurant and sponsoring BUFF and the Boston Derby Dames.

    Now for the food:
Simple, healthy, tasty!  What more can I say?  I love the burgers and salads.  I'm not a fan of the fries (a bit soggy usually), but I love that you can order veggies instead.

My health lunch option: Turkey burger ($5.95)
house-ground turkey burger with crisp lettuce, tomato, red onion, and whole-grain mustard on a toasted whole wheat, sesame seed bun

with a side of crisp veggies ($2.57)
broccoli, carrot, and red pepper stir-fried with garlic and olive oil, topped with sesame-soy dressing

Stepping up your fast food to b.good is like stepping up your discount shopping from Wal-Mart to Target.  Classy.

I don't know what everyone is dissing on the fries for, I think they're addictive and delicious.  But, that said, I do love my fries a little dry and burnt.

Everything here tastes good, but it'll cost ya.  Be prepared to shell out some cash, especially because they charge you for "extras" like cheese.  It all adds up and *BAM!*, you've spent $20.

But I'd rather take this pristine, cheerful, happy-english-speaking-employees place anyday over the dirty, depressing, miserable-overworked-employee'd place most OTHER fast food joints have become.

Love this place! I wish there was one in CT where I live!

Both times I've gotten a chicken sandwich, I don't know how they do it, it is "breaded" but baked and not fried and still comes out nice and crispy! Wheat buns are good, and whatever veggies I've gotten on it have been fresh. And the new sweet potato fries...amazing. Portions are generous, I wasn't able to finish fries and a sandwich either time. I like that the nutrition info is available on a little card to take with you.

It's a little pricey, but not that much different than Subway or another sandwich place if you get a sandwich, side, and drink. Well worth it. Speaking of Subway, B. Good is a nice alternative for lunch when you want something a little different but still healthier than say, McDonalds.

I could walk here for lunch from my old job in Back Bay and it was a nice way to satisfy a burger craving without going to Wendy's and feeling like you need to jog home to work off the grease you just ate. The burgers are great (for the most part), but the sweet potato fries and veggies left something to be desired. The milkshakes are also surprisingly healthy, but then once you taste them you realize that cutting out the fat really cuts out the flavor.

5 stars for the burger (avoid the garlic greens if you plan to talk to another human after eating lunch)

4 stars for the vanilla shake

2 stars for the soggy mushy excuse for sweet potato fries

b.good...My 1st visit to the Newbury St. location was 5 STAR!
BUT...My 2nd trip to the other Back Bay location was 2 STAR?

The 1st place gave me a perfectly cooked burger, with a crispy side of sweet potato fries and a flavorful fruit smoothie.

The 2nd place gave me a RED, RAW BURGER, with a side of mushed, greasy fries...smoothie was still great though.  If you read the Yelp reviews, noone knocks their 5 STAR DRINKS...*smile*.

I was going to the 1st place weekly, but now I'm put off.  I don't want another McDonalds...that's for SURE.  (No paper hats, pressed meat and scented bags...thank you.)  Yet, a little consistency would be more than welcome.

Many Yelpers have whined about raw burgers from b.good.  Perhaps the other Back Bay chef may be colorblind...so he can't see the burger is red on the inside.  Cut him some slack...he could have a disability!  Of course, if he IS disabled, and they did fire him for serving raw burgers...he'd just end up collecting unemployment.  Unless he didn't know he was fired because he couldn't tell his Pink Slip was...well...you know.

I stopped here to grab lunch to bring back to the office, and enjoyed it.  Why the three star rating, you ask?  It was almost $10 for a veggie burger, a diet coke, and fries!  That is a little bit of a hefty price tag for lunch in my book.  Enough complaining about the price, and on to the food:

I went with the Southwestern Veggie burger, and it was tasty.  The burger itself was very bean-laden, and not a run of the mill, out of the package sort of veggie burger.  It was slathered in guacamole, and I added a slice of cheddar to it for added deliciousness.  Word to those who don't love cilantro: THIS IS NOT THE BURGER FOR YOU.  There was a ton in my guacamole, and while I love it, I realize others don't always.  My only complaint is that on an 85 degree day, my burger was just barely warm by the time I got it back to the office and the cheese wasn't really melted at all.

The fries: pretty much my perfect idea of what fries should always be.  The fries were crisp with a little crunch, prefectly cooked, well salted and flavored, and perfect for dipping.  I would absolutely consider coming here just for an order of fries at some point.  They were great.

The service was okay.  Nothing to write home about, but relatively pleasant.  The speed was good, but I would have rather had my burger be a little more heated and waited an extra few minutes.

See my review on Delux, and you will know why I had to venture out at 9:30pm on a Friday, after I already ate dinner, for a burger.

I was craving, literally DIEING  for a burger. Luckily my Girlfriend is clever and resourceful and found B.Good on my iphone Yelp app. So  we debated for several minutes to venture out on a cold March night for a burger. I was very glad we did, as it was excellent.

I ordered the Oliver, just a cheese burger with lettuce, tomato and pickles. It came on a whole wheat bun, (score) and the veggies were so fresh. I decide to just get the meal deal and got the sweet potato fries and a diet coke, all for under 10$.

It was a great burger experience and my belly was finally satisfied. I went home and enjoyed my burger infused haze and felt at peace with the world.

The best thing about B.Good is it's local, and is very healthy. Their menu has turkey burgers, veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, and 3 different type of fries, that are baked not fried.  It's just the perfect burger joint for the health conscious individual.

Bring your craving for meat, they will serve it a nice big healthy burger :)

I love the idea of getting a good veggie burger and getting it quick. It was pretty good actually. And I love any place that supplies its nutrition information. Gotta watch the weight.

I opted for the veggies instead of the sweet potato fries that I really wanted. They were okay, nothing special. Next time I will get the fries though, and suffer the extra calories.

FYI - (an update) I was just told that BGoods veggie burgers are NOT vegan.
