I bought the Groupon deal that they had for Brazilian waxes and it was a great experience. It was such a good experience, I decided to stay with the salon. They now give me a deal where I can pay for three Brazilian waxes for $99. Normally their Brazilian waxes are $65, but because I bought three they gave me a huge discount.
I've been all around the city searching for a good Brazilian waxer and this is by far the best experience I've ever had. I've been to quite a few salons that were not good at waxing. I've had experiences where they had to re-do the wax because they completely messed it up. All of the other places I've been to were extremely painful so for a while I assumed all Brazilian waxes were a horrible experience.
I then met Marta a few months ago at Bella Salon and she completely changed my perception on Brazilian waxing. It takes less her than 15 minutes to do it. Marta is not much of a talker, but I don't mind that at all. She's quick, it's painless, and I get a great deal. Nothing beats that in my book. -
Review from Robyn T.
I don't like to write 1-star reviews. I believe that for the most part businesses are doing their best to survive in a tough economic climate and will bend over backwards, but not necessarily so with B. Bella.
I like in the neighborhood and had passed the salon many times, but had no real reason to come in as I already have a great salon for my hair. I got saw an e-mail from Living Social for a spa manicure/pedicure deal - I believe it was $25 for the service which is normally $70. I figured it can't hurt right?
Of course I waited longer than I should have (the deal expires in early Feb) but booked a service for December. They let me know they would not accept the coupon any time around the holidays (this was not stated on the terms and conditions of the Living Social, but again I figured that was fine). The day of my appointment came near and feeling sick, I called the day before to cancel my appointment. The women on the phone said not a problem and I told her I'd call back to reschedule. The next day I get an anxious receptionist on the phone (I'm assuming someone different) saying I'm late for my appointment. Again I let them know I was sick, had called the day before and would reschedule.
In the new year I realized I needed to book my appt. before it got too close to the use by date. I was walking by the salon as it was closing and saw two people inside. They kindly let me know I explained I wanted to book an appointment. The receptionist logged into their computer and we made the appointment. She asked if I wanted a card and I kindly said "no" because I'd just logged it into my calendar. I called today to ask if I could by chance come in for a later appointment (this is again the day before my service) and they don't even have me in the system!
I can understand if there is one mess up. Two with no course of apology is just embarrassing. I spoke with who I believe was the owner and told him I probably won't use my Living Social coupon after all because this has been such a hassle and that in the future they should try to keep a more organized system at the reception desk. Needless to say there are enough other nail spots in the South Loop that I can take my business to. -

Sadly, I never experienced this spa despite trying to use my groupon for a mani-pedi. My first attempt at an appointment was rebuffed with "we don't honor it on weekends" although this was not mentioned in the fine print. My groupon expired and I called the spa to see if I could still use it. The receptionist said the manager would call me and took my name and number. He never returned my call.
I then visited the spa in person to plead my case to the manager. He was very nice but said "no" with some weird excuse about the barcode. It is my understanding that the merchants get the money from groupon whether the client uses the groupon or not. I contacted groupon and sure enough, I was right. As per groupon's contract, the merchants are supposed to honor the voucher for face value (what the buyer paid for it) even if it has expired.
B. Bella Salon potentially lost a good customer as I'll never use them nor recommend them, even though they're in my neighborhood. They need a lesson in good customer service. -

I had just moved to Chicago and was looking for a place to get a Brazilian wax. B Bella had a great deal running on Groupon, so I went and it was an ok experience. They sucked me in with the great price after that--3 Brazilians for only $99! Can't beat that. However, every time I went back it seems like it got more and more painful, which is the opposite of what is supposed to happen. I have been getting Brazilians since 2005, so I know what to expect. I have a high pain tolerance, normally I barely even wince during a wax, but I was jumping and gasping like a little baby! After my third wax I decided the pain wasn't worth it and I won't be going back.

Finally found a good Brazilian waxing place in the city - SO RELIEVED!
Good ol' Groupon led me here, and I am deeply indebted. Everybody is SO NICE here, and Marta, as previous reviewers can attest, is awesome at what she does.
I really like that she doesn't use gloves while she's doing the wax (I've had girls who have pulled out big leather gloves before, and it made me feel like I was filming an extra scene from "Hostel"). She's really friendly and efficient - if you want the details, message me.
The Groupon deal was a total steal - $35 for the Brazilian (plus the tip based on the original price of $55). She also gave me a coupon to come back again for $44, which is still an awesome price for Chicago.
This place is right in the South Loop at State & Balbo, near Columbia College. Super convenient for people working in the Loop - it was a 10-minute walk from my office and I definitely plan on coming back. -

Let me first start off by saying how much I loathe eyebrow threading. The pain is unbearable for me. I've always wondered why some call it painless while I liken it to child birth.
So I called at 9am looking for an early appt. the informed me they do both threading and waxing for eyebrowns. I opted for an eyebrow wax. My appt was for Ruby. I ran late but they saw me right away. She started with a painless wax and surprised me by following up with a painless quick shaping with the thread. My overall experience was painless and my eyebrows were perfect! Ruby did an incredible job and I believe I found my new eyebrow person! Yay!!!! -

Bought a Groupon Now! deal for a blowdry and straightening. Called them immediately and was able to secure an appointment within 1 hour. The salon is clean and relatively modern, although some of the decor looked a little tacky (ugly fake flowers in vases on the walls). But -- this is not about the decor, right? It's all about the service, and the service I got! First, this was probably one of the best hair washing jobs I've gotten so far: the lady (didn't get her name, alas) took almost 30 minutes to thoroughly wash my hair, massage the head, and untangle my very messy curly locks. It felt amazing! Then I was transfered into the hands of Kylee, who proceded with the blow-drying and flat-ironing portion. It took a little longer than I was planning, but she did a very nice job. So... why 4 stars? Because it states "Yay, I'm a fan!" -- and that's exactly how I'm feeling about the place. 5 stars takes an absolutely stellare everything, including the ambience.
Final verdict: definitely recommend. -

This is my very first Yelp review. I decided I needed to review this salon, not because I want to disparage this business, but I want customers to know what they are getting into before they go.
First, this is NOT a SPA and I DID NOT RECEIVE A SPA MANI/PEDI. The salon was overbooked, which meant that I was there for HOURS, and I didn't receive any quality service. There were no hot towels, no luxury. My manicure took 10 minutes.
Also, please know, this is a hair salon, with four nail stations (two manicure stations, two pedicure stations), and a tiny waxing room (which is right off the main hallway, so when Marta opens the door, whoever is walking by can get a glimpse at what you're waxing. The salon has about 20 Opi nail colors, many of the good fall/winter colors, but few spring colors yet. The owners were nice - offered me tea, and water, but in a styrofoam cup (who uses styrofoam anymore?).
My bikini wax was good. If you don't mind going in and out, and having standard nail service, go here. But if you are looking for luxury, go elsewhere. Even for a standard salon, I've experienced better. -

Well, this one star is for the girl who did my manicure and pedicure! I wish I could give them negative stars for the rest of the staff. I bought an on line deal for $35 for mani-pedi and called them to book my appointment. I told them about my voucher and took an appointment for Friday. When I reached there they denied receiving a call from me, in spite of me repeatedly telling them that I had confirmed a week back. They asked me to come back at a later time. Since I had no other option, I agreed. When I was finished with mani-pedi and I presented my voucher, they refused to accept it saying its not valid on Fridays!! I was so pissed by then because I had showed them the same damn thing in the morning and they didn't say a word then! They just refused to accept my voucher and I ended up paying $35 again! there was no point of buying the damn voucher in the first place and worse of all they were not remotely apologetic about the whole affair!
I would rather give $35 in charity rather than visit them again! -

I cam here to have my eyebrows threaded, something I've never done before, and I told the stylists explicitly that I DID NOT want them thinned out or reshaped just cleaned up.
I walked out with thinner, reshaped eyebrows and I'm really pissed about it.
To be fair, I guess I didn't spell it out for her. Maybe she thought trimming them down was cleaning them up? I don't know. But I like my eyebrows to look really natural and now they look really "perfect" and that is NOT what I was going for.
I'm just going to stick to home tweezing from now on. -

I used the Groupon I bought for a spa mani/pedi and was very disappointed. Here are the lowlights:
1. My service started 25 minutes late
2. The "spa" pedi water was cold, and she let me sit there for another 15 minutes before starting the service
3. The polish selection is very limited. About 20 polishes (half fluorescent) to choose from and when I picked them up, they were all greasy
4. The tech kept telling me she was a nail tech for "the stars" and how she has a patented nail system. Wtf? If this is patented, I'm a gorilla
5. The pedi was subpar at best. Weak.
6. I sat for another 10 minutes waiting for my mani to start
7. Mani was below average
8. The dryer she put my hands in was covered in hair. My palms were covered when I took my hands out
9. This place is dirty. I showered when I got home
10. The magazines are from 2009-2010 and are filthy
On a side note, I had come here once before for a quick eyebrow wax. I left with uneven arches and an itchy brow.
I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my home. I will not be back. -

Since I wrote my previous review, the owner contacted me to try change my mind. I went back in for a new mani+pedi and eyebrow waxing.
My nails lasted longer before I chipped them - I'm really hard on my nails - and I didn't have any of the peeling problems that I did before. Deborah was most definitely friendly and capable, and I enjoyed my time with her. I'm pleased with the job she did as well.
The only negative I have now about B Bella is their limited nail polish color selection. I generally avoid the traditional reds and pinks, and they don't have a lot of blues, greens, or purples to pick from. But I was able to pick a very nice emerald that I'm very fond of now.
I'd never had an eyebrow waxing before, and I'm quite pleased with the results. I was really worried I'd have this huge dramatic change to tiny pencil eyebrows, but the technician listened to me and shaped without making huge alterations. I'm sure she'd be just as happy and capable to make pencil-thin eyebrows if that's what you want.
The bottom line is that B Bella is a great addition to the neighborhood, they really care about their customers' satisfaction, and will go the distance to make sure you're happy with the care you receive.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Tonia O.
I followed the stylist Yasmin over to B. Bella Salon from 'Day's Salon & Spa,' mainly because she does an AMAZING eyebrow threading. I've gone through quite a few eyebrow stylists, and by far, I'm the most happiest with her work. I look like a NEW me after my threading.
I recently went to the salon for a trim. Yasmin gave me a CUT! I was initially mortified, but after being honest with myself (going almost 2 months + without any trim) I had lots of split ends and my hair started to thin. I must say the trim...errr...cut, was cute and suited my face. I didn't get a blow dry, but I could imagine that it would have looked mighty nice.
In the future I may consider getting my hair done at this salon.
Oh and on a special note, it really does seem like they care about hair at this salon. Yasmin really wanted me to have healthy hair, thus the chop. At other salons, when I refuse, they just let me leave out with my stringy hair. Thicker healthier hair always trumps long thin hair (that's what I keep telling myself :o) ). -

I had a TERRIBLE experience at B Bella Salon and don't even know where to start. I had gotten a Gel-ish nail polish from another salon a couple weeks earlier and was meeting a friend in the area so I came here to get the Gel-ish taken off and have a fresh one put on. Wish I would have come to YELP first...
B Bella does a No Chip manicure and said it wouldn't be a problem to change out the polishes when I called. I am typically a regular manicure kind of person and didn't know all the ins-and-outs of the Gel-ish as far as removal goes. I had asked when I got it done originally and the woman said that you soak it for 5-10 minutes in a high strength Acetone and the stuff just comes right off... Well the woman at B Bella starts off by asking if I want my manicure "pulled off or drilled off?"... Uhhh... neither - Both sound painful?! When I explain what I was told by the other technician, Nelly at B Bella huffs off to the back of the store and begrudgingly gets stuff to soak the Gel-ish off. I sat forever in 10 make shift things that I can only describe as tinfoil-finger-nobs not understanding how loosely wrapped cotton and foil was going to provide any of the necessary elements to get the polish off. Tons of Acetone evaporation combined with no friction and no pressure left me with nails that only looked slightly worse than when I had come in 40 minutes earlier.
Nelly then takes one of the coarsest grade nail files I've ever encountered and starts going over the TOP of my nails. At this point in time, I'm fighting a bit of a panic but rationalize that obviously this stuff needs to be filed off since sitting for 40 minutes did nothing. I also rationalize that a person who has been doing nails for as long as she said she has been wouldn't do anything that would eff up my nails. This MUST be some sort of magic nail file... NOPE!!! I have nails that are as thin and razor sharp as a new born baby's with all these thin spots across the top that a week later are still unbelievably sensitive whenever I pick something up or brush against anything.
I was heading out of town on vacation two days after coming into B Bella and basically decided that the best course of action was to cover up my nails and continue on with the No-Chip because I had at least seen the comparable Gel-ish in action and knew that it looked good.... I deserve to be slapped up-side the head for having that thought after witnessing what I had already been through at this salon. The No-Chip was a mess (color me shocked on that one) so I finally tucked my tail between my legs, paid, and ran away from B Bella after 2.5 hours of stupidity on my part and walked IMMEDIATELY to the salon where I got my Gel-ish done (Salon Vision) to have them take everything off. The nice woman at Salon Vision gently took the stuff off in 10 minutes using the same amount of time and same process she told me the Gel-ish would be. She then looked at my nails and told me she would buff out as many of the deep scratches as possible but because my nails were so thin, she could only do so much...
I know this was a long rant but sometimes you read these reviews and people give 1 star after complaining that 1 thing was wrong and I always think that they may be blowing things out of proportion if only 1 thing was bad. 1) painful nails 2) thin nails 3) scratched nails 4) terrible quality 5) 2.5 hours long 6) stupid me. -

So they had a Groupon for hair extensions - $199. What they didn't include is that you have to buy your own hair - another $250ish. I got them done less than a month ago (told they'd last 3-4 months) and am now wearing a bandana for the 4th day in a row because some of them are falling out. I was supposed to go in today to get them fixed but, despite what we planned, the woman who does them "thought she was working today, but isn't." Alas, another day of hiding my head... Perhaps it's my fault - you get what you pay for, right?! I'm now rapidly calling various salons to just find anyone to take this mess off my head! Ugh!

two months ago i happened by the salon, thought it looked cute, and went for an impulse trim. George (the owner) was trying to force his salon door closed for the day (it was caught on a nail) and when i stopped, he gestured me inside even though he was "closing for the day" he told me he was the owner is his broken English and that my haircut would be $20.
so cheap??? why?????? (i usually pay 50 to 70) i thought, fine, quick trim. He consulted with me, washed my hair himself (one star for the scalp massage) and i thought, this will be great!
OH MY SWEET BABY JESUS.
HE BUTCHERED THE SHIT OUT OF MY HAIR. HE CUT IT IN FIVE MINUTES AND WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING AT HIS FRIEND HE WAS CHATTING WITH WHILE CUTTING.
i am in the business and i was watching his inconsistent angles, the poor way he held his scissors, and the fact that my cut was THREE INCHES SHORTER ON THE LEFT THAN THE RIGHT. i had this confirmed for me by Maggie at Hairitics salon when she beautifully cut the bullshit damage out of my hair. it took her ten minutes to figure out how to save it, as random chunks were out everywhere.
George, if you read this, you should be deeply ashamed of yourself for being more interested in making a quick buck than of helping people look and feel better WHICH IS THE BUSINESS YOU ARE IN, YOU INCOMPETENT LITTLE MAN. PLEASE NEVER CUT HAIR AGAIN. LEAVE IT TO YOUR OTHER (SEEMINGLY BETTER STYLISTS) -

My husband bought a Groupon deal for me. I called on Mon and got a appointment for the time I wanted on Tuesday. I arrived a few minutes early & waited till Lily finished with her client. She took my coat and I followed her to the back where the pedicure stations were. There are 2. She asked how I liked the water, hot or cold? I said hot, and it was. But, it felt great. She need a great job, spent more time on my toes than any one else had ever done. I had some polish with me, cuz I read the reviews prior to going & someone said their selections were limited. We then went to the front where Lily has a station. My nails look great. I am going to go back. The price is right and I really thought Lily was great. On the way out, I was handed some info on hair cuts and color. Also offered a discount. I am not sure I will take them up on this, but, we review them again if I do.

Bad Experience! I came in for a bikini wax purchased through Lifebooker Loot for the price of 29.25. Marta did the service. She was not friendly and handled my area in a very rough manner. She pulled on the wax as if she was pulling weeds off the ground! I've had many waxes for 10 + years and this one was one of the most painful ones. She kept reapplying wax to the same area which led me to believe she was not pulling the right way to begin with. Once it was finally over, I was ready to run out of there, but when I got to the counter and told them about the lifebooker deal, they called the manager because no one had heard about this deal being on the internet. The manager who didn't as much as look up at me proceeded to get on the phone and yell at someone for not having the right dollar amount on the website. After about 15 minutes of waiting by the counter he said I can go ahead and pay that amount and walked away. They were all very rude. Needless to say, I will not be coming back.

I really wanted to get my hair cut one day and I called them up and they got me in that same day. I forget the name of the stylist who cut my hair, but she did a great job. She cut it exactly how I wanted it and then styled it really nicely for me because I was going out to a party that night. She threw in an eyebrow thread for free. It was a great experience. I definitely recommend this place.

I bought a coupon for a brazilian wax and mani/pedi thru living social. I called and was told I could come the very next day. When I arrived I was greeted by the staff but after this it got fuzzy. Somehow they had my name misspelled etc IDK, and the girl told me I didn't have a pedicure appt. AFter we got that resolved Marta escorted me to the back. She wasn't friendly seem agitated and did a rush job. I gave her a tip anyway despite her attitude she did ok. She somehow become more energetic when I handed her the tip. I did receive my mani/pedi by Jeanette and I must say she did an awesome job!!! I will go back for a pedicure, but I'll pass on the wax services. I've received better!

I used a groupon for a Vitamin C Facial the other day at B Bella. The overall experience was pretty positive. It was easy to get an appointment. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facial itself was really good! I forgot the name of the woman who did the facial, but she was very professional. It has been a couple of days and my skin looks and feels great! I think there are some small changes that the salon as a whole could make to improve their salon. It was really loud in the salon. Even inside the facial room I could hear people talking loudly and lots of hair dryers going. The door to the room was a thin sliding door. The lighting in the salon was really abrasive fluorescent type lighting. The walls in the facial room had black marks on them. The towels used during the facial smelled like bleach. I think if the salon put a little bit more effort into creating a calming environment, they might have more success. Right now it feels like the place used to be a Fantastic Sam's that they are now trying to make into a pseudo-upscale salon. I'll still give 4 stars though because the quality of the actual service was pretty good. .

I called and made an appointment with this highly recommended Yasmin lady for last night to get my eyebrows done. The appointment was for 5:40pm. I got there 5 minutes early and at 5:50pm I look over at Yasmin still finsihing up her last client and it didn't seem like she was going to be finished any time soon. I ask how much longer she'll be and she says 30 more minutes. Um...Why didn't she say that in the first place! I had an appointment! I wasn't just a walk-in! She didn't even apologize or anything. She was soo incredibly rude. I will not go back to that salon every again.

as you can see...i am not a big fan of this hair salon. I was a walk in because i live nearby the neighborhood. The salon it self is real clean and trendy looking...nothing bad to say about that.
I had Yasmin as stylist and she was fine...she didn't really ask me much what i want from my hairstyle and just cut as she see please. I don't really mind but a week after my haircut, my hair is still not flowing correctly.
The most annoying thing about my experience in this hair salon is that Yasmin was constantly interrupted by her friend trying to talk to her. The friend doesn't have much manners and clearly doesn't understand that she is servicing others ...can't she wait? Yasmin just kept on being dragged away into the conversation! I don't know why she can't tell her friend to wait...that she has a client to take care of first. I really find that Unprofessional!
I was nice and waited patiently but sometimes i wish i could just speak up. -

It's past my bedtime so I'll get straight to the point. Yesterday between errands I spied B. Bella and despite the mixed reviews from my fellow yelpers, I decided to chance it. If only life had a rewind button. Normally I'd venture further north to Sonya's where I'm never disappointed for eyebrow threading, but B. Bella's convenient location lured me in like a siren's song. Now, I will say that the salon is nicely decorated with a favorable ambience and the staff was very friendly. The lady that threaded my brows, a pretty and amiable brunette, named Ruby created a signature Cruella Deville-ish look for me while I was only seeking a "clean up". She also threaded parts of my eyelid void of hair follicles resulting in a puffy scar on the crease of my left eyelid that irritates me at this very moment. Perhaps the mutilation of my lid explains the closed eyeball massage that I've never experienced in my 4 years as an eyebrow threading customer. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
