Can't say that I've tried the BBQ but I got the sauce and it's pretty good. The salisbury steak is actually tasty and I remember liking the fried chicken and really liking the mac n cheese.
Owner and or staff are very friendly and feels like a place that was probably around decades ago.
Good price for quality and quantity.

I live down the street and want to try this place, but the last time I walked in I was knocked back by a STRONG urine smell (not from people, it smelled like mouse/rat droppings). There was also a lot of junk stacked up inside the restaurant. I'm from the South and love soul food, but I'm not going to eat it in a restaurant that doesn't look or smell clean.

Tried this place yesterday. Since it's kind of a hole in the wall I was hoping the food would be bangin. We walked in and looked at the menu and while deciding, the owner gave us some grilled chicken and mac and cheese to try out. The BBQ sauce was on point so I got a chicken sandwich. I went with the mashed potatoes. A sandwich is $5 and a side is $2. Can't beat that. The sandwich didn't have much bbq sauce in it so that was disappointing. My friend got a roast beef and he said the same thing. Mashed potatoes weren't that great either. I'm from the south and I wanted some authentic comfort food but I didn't find it here. Service was incredibly friendly and it's been around forever. I'd come back but next time ask to put more sauce on the sandwich.

Great North Carolina style barbecue. Everyone in there is incredibly friendly, and, if you're not worried about your health but worried about your happiness, go there.
The Mac and Cheese is out of this world, the fried chicken is great, and the portions are incredible. Order one of the dinners (a meat and two sides for nine bucks) and you've got enough food for a full day.
As a native Jerseyan, I may not be a BBQ connoisseur, but it sure is good. -

This place is crawling distance from my apartment. Advertises North Carolina style BBQ but really can't deliver. The meats are generally okay even if they're not fresh. The mac and cheese I just had is probably the worst i've ever had. Its made with penne, was cold upon first touch and taste like it was made a month ago. Atrocious. Service is friendly and the meat is good. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way
