Car breaks down on the 101 at 10 o'clock at night. AAA to the rescue. Car is towed to B&G and thank goodness there's a parking spot right out front....its like they were expecting me. Keys and a note deposited in drop slot. Car is diagnosed and repaired the next day. Besides the frustration of the car breaking down, I couldn't have asked for better or faster service.

I was hanging out in Marin with an hour to spare and needed to get both my front headlights replaced as they were burnt out.
B&G is simply the best auto-repair place I have come across! As a woman, I was concerned I might get ripped off and I almost did.....until I found B&G.
I first stopped at a European auto-body shop on Camino Alto and got a quote of 1 hour labor @ $134/hr plus parts @ about $30 - yowzer! $164+ to replace two lights on my VW Beetle? I said a very quick, "Thank you and good-bye!!!"
So, I found an auto-parts store on Miller Ave (also great guys) and they recommended Bill at B&G.
I pulled up at 3:08, Saralynn took my information, Bill quoted me 1/2 hour @ $115/hr and having bought both bulbs at the auto part store for $13.99, I was getting the whole job done for $71.49.
I love saving over $90 just for asking around. :)
Oh, and best part, they had my car back to me by 3:48 - just in time for me to drive to my 4:00 meeting! Awesome! -

What a great feeling knowing your not getting ripped off from you auto shop. I know the owner/head mechanic Bill, from the shop he worked at before he bought B and G. Knowing what a great mechanic he is, I had to take my car to him.
Great repairs every time, no followup problems with any of the work he has done to my cars, and best of all I know that I'm getting a fair price for parts and labor. what more can you ask for out of an auto shop? -

First I do have to say I know Bill and Saralyn, they are old friends of my family. Regardless he is one of the best mechanics in this area and deserves more than 5 stars!
My car was blowing hot air for months, literally since December, and he got the AC to work on it again!!! He had to work on it a bit longer than he thought, but part of that was waiting for Sonnen to call him back. (feel free to check out Sonnen VW's yelp record) Then after parking my car at the airport for a week the check engine light went on and got all flashy with me. I called him and dropped it off. he called a few hours later to tell me the problem and to let me know it would be done in less than an hour! Bam!
Bill is honest about what he does and is fast and good at it too, bonus point for Griffin the cutest shop dog ever!! Also a local family owned business, which is one of the best things about giving him my 5 stars~! Also they have a fun website!!

Great auto repair shop. Saralyn and Bill are wonderful to work with; communicative, understanding, reasonably priced, and so nice. I highly recommend for anyone with auto issues; they've worked with me on everything from getting my antenna fixed, to figuring out how to turn my check engine light off, to fixing a broken tailgate.

I just took my car into B & G and had a wonderful experience. The only problem they could find with the car was a battery terminal device causing a no-start, so I was charged only for an hour of labor - which is much less rate wise than other shops - even the one on Miller. The BMW dealership on the other hand wanted to install a really expensive part and charge a huge hourly rate - without even knowing what was causing the problem. I love fast, honest and reliable service, so I'm rating B & G with 5 stars and recommending them to my friends.

My experience with B&G was short, so take that into consideration as you look at my rating.
My story is that I researched, on yelp no less, for a good auto shop to do a routine oil change and B&G came up shining. However, when I dropped my car off first thing in the morning (when I was told to bring it by), no one was there. When someone did show up he looked disheveled with food stains all over his shirt.
Then when I saw the estimate for the work it was double the price I had historically paid anywhere else ($40 is normal in my experience). When I asked why that was the case he told me that its because other places pay their workers less, and so they can charge less.
That may be true, but its not really relevant to an oil change. Perhaps I'd be willing to pay more for more serious work. It certainly stands to reason that better skilled workers can demand better pay. But this is a routine oil change. And if someone is going to hand me a bill for double the customary cost, he'd better be on time and have a more professional appearance.Comment from Heather G. of B & G Automotive Repair 7/28/2010

Brought my car in recently to repair a squeeky steering column and replace headlight. Bill discovered a leaky oil filter. The total bill was reasonable as well as the estimate for brake work. I took my car to Autohaus schulman months ago and their estimates were extremely high. It's nice to know there is an honest mechanic you can take your vehicle to. I can recommend them without hesitation.

These folks have always given me straight up advice and service when it comes to my car. Its so hard to find a mechanic that you can trust, but Bill and Saralyn have always dealt with me honestly and efficiently. They are always flexible with my schedule. In the 6+ years that I have been taking my car there, only once have they had to keep it more than a day and usually the repairs are complete within a couple of hours. Saralyn is always prompt in contacting me regarding estimates and Bill is really good and explaining what he's fixed and how to maintain it. The prices are reasonable and in fact, when they know that money is an issue, they will go out of their way to reduce costs wherever possible. I have always recommended B&G to anyone looking for a mechanic.

This is the place for car repairs. They provide excellent service at very reasonable prices. I was shocked the first time I took my care in for a repair. After paying dealer repair prices for years, I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were. And the service is great and people are friendly. They are trustworthy and will answer as many questions as you ask. I highly recommend B&G for auto repairs.

What a gem! I have finally found an auto repair shop I can trust. Bill does great work at a fair price. I'll refer him to everyone I know. I love the great customer service too! They've got the whole family involved in the business and the quality really shows.
