I could only wonder what this place was like back in the 70s.  It's antiquated to say the least.  You could take your grandparents here and even they'd say "Damn, this place is ancient."

The owner likes to overbook.  An overwhelming amount of the fairways are marked for repair.  Greens are hard with a lot of bald spots.  Fairways have a lot of "character".  The practice facility offers more than your average course, but everything is a tad run down or needs some serious upgrades/maintenance.  First 13 holes are just straight shots and quite narrow.

It does have some shining points.  Clubhouse is at least nice looking.  $5 got me a polish dog, bag of chips, bottle of gatorade and 2 sides of macaroni salad and beans.  http://Golfnow.com won't give you the best deal so go to their website for some 2for1 deals.

Bob in the proshop is an asshole.  But he's an asshole that gives it to you straight and fights FOR you when he can.  You gotta respect that.  Kudos to Bob because Bob rocks.

This Course should be called Azusa Browns, becuase you won't find a whole lot of green.  I remember playing this course a long time ago when I was 15 and boy was it a different course back then.  I am 27 and recently played here and holy crap has this course changed.  The fairways are a complete joke, you have a 50% chance on having your ball land in hard pan.  The greens are ok, but they do not make up for the conditions of the fairways.

Play was slow here! I dont understand why so many golfers would play this terrible course.. We started at 11:30am and barely finished...  I give 3 stars for the staff though, they all seemed polite,  I hadn't experienced anyone named bob or Art as mentioned in previous reviews.  So after our round I wanted to find out what happened to this course so naturally I went to the bar.  The bartender there had informed me that the previous owner of the course had died, and that his wife was now the current owner.  Apparantly this new owner focuses on the clubhouse and bar area, which she did a great job on. The pro shop, bar, and catering rooms look amazing.  Unfortunately she fails to pay any attention to the golf course itself.

This review is for the conditions I experienced on today's play.

Fees:  A fellow yelper booked for $26/ea.  This is pretty inexpensive for a weekend 18 hole rate with cart included.  Most places charge $12 per rider, so our effective green fee was $14.

Our tee time was 12:15.  The starter mistakenly thought we had left and failed to call us before sending out a gaggle of golfers right in front of us.  This resulted in a backup reminiscent of the 405 in rush hour on Halloween day.  It took us an hour to play #1 and #2.  It only got slightly better later in the round, and we doubled back after #9, to play the front again.

Course condition:  So Cal had record winds this past Thursday.  There were palm leaves, branches, pine cones and needles all over the fairway.  You could easily lose your ball in the middle of the fairway after a perfect drive.  A lot of the fairways had bare spots and were pretty hard pan lies.  I guess I have to blame my poor scoring on the course rather than my play.  The greens, however, were above average.  Putts rolled pretty true, and I was able to sink a good portion of my test 5 to 8 footers.  I was pretty happy about that.

Quite a few trees fell victim to the strong winds, and need to be hauled away.  I'm sure the course plays quite differently when you aren't backed up with golfers and also not expending your energy trying to locate your balls.

I will definitely write an update, when I play this course under better conditions.  I'm sure this was an anomaly.

Honestly, there are two ways to review this course. First is the course itself. The Golf course features generous, firm fairways and allows you to just swing as hard as you like and hit. This place is surprisingly long yet reachable. The greens are average and roll okay, you get the occasional bad bump here and there. It's really difficult to find trouble off the tee on this golf course. I enjoy the length and straightness of the fairways and the way the course meanders around neighborhoods of apartments, condos, and houses. The course has a park-like quality and the starters are always very courteous.

The second aspect of Azusa Greens to consider is the clubhouse guy named Art. Art is a complete jerk. I have been there on multiple occasions and every single time without fail Art has been nothing less than rude, condescending, and quite frankly just an ass. I've complained to a person named "Nancy" before who seemed disinterested in the fact that one of her front-line customer service employees was providing customer disservice on a consistent basis.

Things that will make Azusa Greens worth the money include their online e-club that gives you a free round on/around your birthday as well as two-for-one specials that make the course reasonable and affordable at $22.50 per player.

    Damn!
    I like Azusa!
It's tucked away and wrapped around this little neighborhood up near the base of the San Gabriel's.
The greens rarely come up beside each other.
The layout is fun and it's pretty and quiet there.
    Very relaxing.
    The best way to golf.
I definitely want to go back sometime real soon.

Wow I think the other reviewers have been mighty generous. This is the closest 18 hole course to my house. I have played it enough to know that its hands down the worst golf course I have ever played.

There's nothing like striping one deep down the center of the fairway and being rewarded with a second shot from a bare lie. Ridiculous! At least its crowded and very slow. Its not really even all that cheap because you have to take a cart or at least pay for one.

If you like the game of golf this place is not for you. If you like the Raiders and want to spend 5.5 hours drinking a case of Budweiser then this might be your place.

Let me start off by saying that I'm glad I only spent $23 to play on a Sunday (twilight). The fairways and tee boxes looked like they hadn't been worked on since the course first opened. The tee boxes were uneven and the fairways were pretty dry and unforgiving. And if you didnt hit it on the fairway, which I did most of my round, you either hit into someones backyard, into the street, or just lost it in one of the enchanted forests. The putting greens were in pretty good shape, surprisingly. The scenery outside the course was pretty nice at times. Overall, I still had a good time because I was playing with my friends and got a pretty cheap deal by booking online. Don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. By the way, the guy working the clubhouse was pretty nice. Think his name was Tom?

    Some pretty harsh reviews here.

The course is decent. It's a pretty busy public course so it is going to see a great deal of wear and tear. Everybody plays with a cart. Which, in theory should speed up play, but there is very little help from the course Marshall to keep things moving so play can be very slow. We had a 10:20 am Tee time with a foursome on Sunday and were over an hour late starting. The guy at the desk did give us free range tokens but I was already sore from "warming up" by the time we were finally called.

The course is pretty beat up but the greens, while rough, do have some challenging breaks and the overall course is pretty well laid out with some fun holes.

Hell, it ain't Pebble Beach but it works. $43 on a Sunday per person seemed high to me and the play was frustratingly slow but fortunately there's a roving snack/beer lady who will sell you a 6-pack in an ice bag for $16.50 so sweet liquor can ease the pain.

5 stars for value, 3 stars for the course itself.

The course is not that challenging, so it's a great course to learn on and sharpen up on different elements of your game.  There are no water hazards.  The sand traps are there, but don't really get in the way.

They have a super twilight rate that starts earlier than the super twilight rates of other courses.  Their green fees include the cart, so it's a great value.

The practice facilities are nice - there's a chipping area and sand trap area to practice.  They aren't the best maintained, but considering some other golf courses don't even have those, it's not bad.

Sign up for their online newsletter and they'll send you internet specials every week, which are pretty good (although i haven't been able to take advantage of any of them yet).

What a complete waste of time and money.  My wife and I decided to play this course a few weeks ago out of curiousity.  Around 25 bucks seemed too good to be true for a weekend rate including a cart for 18 regulation holes.    It was.  The course was a complete goat farm.   The fairways were more like dirt ways.  the greens were pot-marked like Edward James Olmos's face, and the guy at the front desk was so rude and condescending that it was almost funny.  Honestly, the best part about the this place was watching the kids from the local apartment buildings riding their BMX bikes around the fairways pulling jumps out of sand traps!   AVOID!

Nothing special about this place. It's a slow pace and the conditions can be better. A true golfer is willing to play anywhere. If you never played here, at least try it. I have played here a couple of times. Probably will not play here again. There is a lot of other courses that are better.

This course is OK at best. Greens are not well maintained, there are patches of dirt in the middle of the fairway, and play is slow. Took 6 hours to finish a round of golf last Saturday.

This course is decent for the person learning regulation courses and those people who don't wanna shell out a few extra bucks. Tee boxes aren't good. Many bare spots along the fairways. Sand is decent. Greens are challenging, as there is more break than appears. Course was slow today, Friday at 12:45. There were 2 5 somes in front of us, and behind us was a group of 7! Come for the cheap play, twilight starts at noon, and during the week is 26 bucks. Carts are always included.

The worst golf course I have played!!!  Is it much to ask to have grass on a golf course!  Tee Box:  Good Luck finding a flat spot and when you do its on dirt and almost off the tee box.  Hit a great drive down the middle, o crap more dirt.  I would say the fairways had only about 60-70% grass on them.  The rest was dirt and weeds.  I could not believe I paid $35 to play this crap hole.

Just an average golf course to play. But, golf is better than no golf. Some of the fairways are bare (I mean thin) and tee boxes are pretty beat up.
    Pace can be slow also.

Want to play some golf on quick notice? This not might be a place to play. Not the best place. Greens are poorly managed and the course has lots of brown dirt all over. Why do I say it might be OK to play a quick round. its cheep. You can get their email specials and play for $8 and 13 with cart. It is a great place to take beginners to play. They can mow lawn all day.

This public course has many opportunities for your driver.  The fairways are wide and forgiving.  The condition of the greens and fairways are average.  I got my first birdie on this course. The first few holes are always backed up but play usually clears up soon after. They remodeled the front clubhouse recently.  Overall, I'd highly recommend this course for the average rec golfer.
