I have had such rotten luck with hair stylists lately that I have decided I must be speaking in a foreign language.  I even bring pictures.  I think we have this nice conversation... then the stylist proceeds to cut my hair in a manner that in no way resembles the picture or conversation.  I end up at home with my scissors cutting it myself.  This last time I really needed help.  I decided to take Azur and Yelp up on the 25% discount for first time clients. I called and was able to get in that same day.  My hair is layered, chin length with some natural wave.  I color it myself.  My appointment was with Cesar.  I got there a little early because it sounded as if parking could be a problem (I found a parking space on the first floor). Everyone was very nice, would I like some water, yes... please have a seat, etc.  Cesar was prompt.  We had "the conversation" and I brought out my pictures.  He really looked at them and at my hair. Then he started cutting.  Not once did he pull out those thinning scissors or a razor that strip my hair and make it frizzy.  He is a precision cutter.  I couldn't be happier.  If you are as fussy as I am about how your hair is cut, then make an appointment with Cesar.

It has been a couple of weeks since I was there and I still haven't had to get the scissors out to even up my hair.  It still looks good and still has shape.  Thank you, Cesar!

Got a pretty drastic change of a men's cut and brought in a picture from a magazine for what I wanted. I got an appointment with Tad after reading another review. He did a great job and was very meticulous and precise. It was also 25% off with the mention of the first time customer Yelp discount!

While $40 may seem like a lot for a hair cut, it's totally worth it when you come out with exactly what you've asked for and had great, friendly service. I would definitely recommend Azur Salon, and especially Tad!

The perfect shade of blond is no joke.

It really can go a couple of ways:
You come out looking like a Oomph Loompa with Orange hair, which is especially bad if you spray tan.
You come out with a dull helmet of gray ashy blond looking like a River Oaks mom minus the Mercedes G wagon, and botox, and more like a newscaster.
You come out with a white blond shade like a 1990's Playboy model minus the huge fake knockers and hot body.

Or if you are REEEALLLY REEALLLY lucky once in your life you find the perfect shade of blond made for your skin, eye, and eyebrow color that makes you wanna dance around naked.

That's what happened when I visited Azur and Siyan.   I was really looking for someone close to my house, or at least inside the loop that did a perfect blond, and for a bit more of an edgy haircut.  Now, as you ladies now, changing hairdressers can be absolutely TERRIFYING, and can cause heartbreak.

After a recommendation from a friend of a friend, of Ted Gibson in DC, he recommended I call Azur, and speak to Nick (the manager)  I spoke to Nick for a bit about what I was looking for, what I was missing, the texture, color, and length of my hair and what I needed.   He recommended I see Siyan, who is an absolute genius when it comes to color.  No joke, this girl has some serious talent.

The day of my appointment, I easily found Azur West located in the second level of the new and very trendy West Ave, located off Kirby.  The salon itself is very modern, white, and is a certified Shu Uemura (which there is only three in the US)  I was immediately offered a beverage, and off to Siyan I went.  She took a good 15-20 minutes to analyze (no one has ever really did that!) and talk about what I wanted exactly, and what exactly she was going to do, and whether I was okay with it.   I immediately felt at ease.

Another thing, I really liked was that the owner was right next to us, working on color, cuts, and consults.  It's nice to see the owner right there in the salon to know what is going on, as well as working along side his employees. Shows he cared about his business. (I met him later, and he was very courteous, and informative)

Fast forward a couple of hours later, and I walked out of there with the best darn haircut I have had in a long time, and not to mention the perfect shade of blond I have been searching for for 15 years. Yes, you pay quite a bit more than most salons, but its worth it, if you can afford it.  You wear your hair every single day, and its an investment.  Worth every single penny.

Thanks to Azur, I in no way resemble a soccer mom, Playboy model, newscaster, or Oompa Loompa.  I look like a better version of myself.

After I, a straight, traditionally styled man had to fire my barber, I came across the Yelp promotion for Azur and decided to give them a shot.  Todd ended up cutting my hair and did a great job.  He took time and effort cutting my hair and his pride in his trade shows.  Todd gave me one of my better haircuts and I have pretty challenging curly hair.

The facility and staff were both nice, professional, and commensurate with an upscale salon.  My only point of caution to men not familiar with salons, is that the cost of the haircut can vary greatly depending on who cuts your hair.  This is a pretty common pricing system for salons, but you might want to ask how much your person costs.

Was charged $80 more than quoted. I was assigned a different colorist than hair cutter. Was an hour disparity between the two services. To waste time they gave me a deep condition which of course I was charge for without asking. My boyfriend ended up having to help with the cost because they quoted 130 and charged me 210. My hair is short and thin. Color processes quickly and dries unless than 5 minutes. Awful haircut and I left in tears and an empty pocketbook. Too bad because I really wanted this place to work.

This salon has some fantastic things going for it, which I will mention. The reason I can't give it more stars is because my overall satisfaction plays into the review. I frequented an Aveda salon in California, so I thought I would try my luck here.

    What I loved:
-Very nice, polite staff. They're "cool" but don't come off as snooty, even though it is a trendy salon in a good area of the city.
-Great looking salon, very clean and organized.
-I called and they were able to see me the same day. That was more convenient than you can ever imagine. I rarely have time for stuff like this during the day.
-My stylist was very nice and took his time. He didn't rush and he did discuss the hairstyle with me before doing anything.
    -They offer wine. :P

I still haven't decided if I will return. Reason being that I wasn't really feeling great about my hair. It isn't a bad haircut, it just isn't what I wanted.  I'm not the kind of person who walks in with a picture and expects to look like the model, but I do expect the hair to be at least somewhat similar to what I am requesting.
I've waited a couple of weeks before writing this, because I thought I needed to get comfortable in the haircut.

Honestly though, if you feel great with your new style, you shouldn't have to learn to live with it right? It should feel right immediately. I am fine paying $75 or more to get the style I want, but it should be just that.

Final word is, I recommend this salon. Just make sure you speak to the staff and get paired up with the person who can meet your needs.

I actually got my hair cut here a few months back and really didn't know what to make of it. it was not only very pricey ($100+), but i was informed after i showed up for my appointment that they do not honor the yelp discount for certain stylists! be sure you double check on their website and book with a junior stylist if you want the discount.

i left with the most gorgeous, natural looking blowout i've ever received in my life. (almost made a freudian slip there.) but seriously. i was getting compliments all day. from girls aND guys. and what straight guys notice hair? really.

the next day it was back to ho hum long. now to be fair, i had ho hum, uneven, split end-y long hair when i walked in there and had no direction whatsoever to give to the poor stylist as to what i wanted.  but he did a good job, cleaned up my layers, and did such an amazing job with the blowout (avoided my freudian slip this time) that i actually went out and bought me a round metal brush to learn his technique.

so why after all these months am i reviewing azure salon now?

because at half way down my back now, my hair STILL has amazing layers, balance, texture and movement. PLUS im getting pretty darn good with this brush.

some advice: go with an idea of what you want. i'm one of those "i'm bored with my long hair" but too conservative/chicken shit to chop it all off kind of people. i probably will go with a junior stylist next time until i muster up enough courage to get a real hair cut.

Went there today to get a trim and to get some bangs.  I got to my appointment about 15 min early and waited until 10 minutes after my appointment time until Angel came to get me.  The people at the door were nice and they offered me a drink while I waited.

Angel was nice but kind of seemed out of it or really depressed.  First, I got shampooed, also by Angel, but it was only after my hair was wet when I realized I didn't have a gown on or anything. Also the shampooing was really fast, I kind of wish he spent a little more time on it.  Then he sent me back to his chair station with me holding a wet towel which was wrapped around my hair.  I think it was only then that he realized I didn't have a gown on. Or maybe that's just their thing at Azur salon?  When I sat down he finally gave me a gown to wear.

So onto the cut, I've never had someone make me stand up so that he could cut the back of my hair evenly...

While I was standing he turned my gown around so that I wouldn't get any hair on my back, then when I sat back down he started cutting but we both didn't notice that my gown was not turned back around, so I got all this hair on my pants!

Then his next appointment had arrived while he was still in the middle of cutting my hair.....I was hoping he didn't feel rushed, but he probably did since no one wants the next customer to wait long.

Overall the result is average.  I used the 25% coupon which saved me $20, but without it, I'm not sure if I would return.  Not worth the mula.

I moved back to Houston from Seattle last spring and have been searching for a salon and hairdresser for months. While living in Seattle I received my most favorite haircut of all time, and I've been trying to re-create it since. It's been close, but not the same until....

    Angel Chapa!

My sister and brother-in-law both go to Angel for haircuts, and while their hair always looked awesome, Angel was at another salon far from me. My sis recently told me that Angel had moved to Azur off of Shepherd, and I booked an appointment immediatey.

He and the cut were both amazing. He's so laid back and funny, and knew exactly what to do... I love my cut and continue to get lots of compliments on it. I am so happy I found a stylist and salon in Houston!

You know why I love this place?

Because they listen. They're not in it for the posh, swank, facade of a salon. These guys know what they're doing, and they deliver.

Before I came here, I hated salons and anything that didn't end in "clips". I had but horrible experiences with non-chain stylists only because they didn't know how to work with my hair; or they just weren't meant for guys. Either that, or they charged me left lung for something that I could have had Fantastic Sam do for 1/10th of the price.

Thanks, but I can wash my own hair and blow dry it. Oh and Head & Shoulders is totally fine by me.

    Not here.

I have straight black hair. It's healthy and can be a pain to work with - but not for these guys.

I wanted to go for a new look. I come in with an appointment - sit down, the folks are just wholesome. I like their setup. Their style. The fashion forward sense that they all seem to share.

Most importantly. I loved how they delivered. It was exactly to the last follicle the way I wanted my hair to be cut. They thinned it out, and cropped to just the perfect length. You know how they achieved that. Experience, and the fact they see the entire subject, and not just copy/pasting something they did on someone else.

I've been here 3 times now, and it could very well be my final destination for as long as I live here.

Um, this is SO much luck that the moment I go and actually pay for a haircut, there's a coupon posted on Yelp a few days later!  :)

Let me just say that it was worth the bucks.  And I'm a cheapie when it comes to hair.  Let's back up.

I get bored with my  hair.  Often.  Back in college, I would change the color so often that most people just got used to seeing me in any number of shades ranging from blue to pink.  Now, I've succumbed to working for "The Man" (which isn't actually all that bad), but that means no more adventurous hair.  Generally.

For over a year now I've been cutting my own hair.  I'm cheap and lazy (and very spontaneous), so this was the perfect solution for me to avoid having to make an appointment and pay for something disappointing.  Way too often I ended up leaving with a 'do that I could've done myself.  Therefore, a trip to Sally's meant a decent pair of scissors to cut and voila!  I've been a self stylist for many months.

Then, the inevitable happened.  I got bored.  With my hair.  I'd grown it out for a wedding and kept putting off the big plunge to chop it off.  I was at Ernie's (duh!) watching Hellboy and saw Selma Blair's haircut.  Yum.  That was it.  The next day, I tried to find a place that could squeeze me in the same day and I came up with Azur.

I ended up choosing Azur for a number of reasons.  1) They could fit me in that day.  2) Their low end haircuts had me hopeful that I wouldn't be charged an arm and a leg (umm, only halfway successful).  3) Monica Danna.  (If you've met her and seen her hair, you'd understand.)

I tried the online system to book my appointment (very convenient), but unfortunately you need to book in advance (something like 12 hours?) so that was a no go.  I give them a call and their receptionist was just so professional.  We chatted about my hair and what I was going for, what the texture was, etc and she recommended Tony.  So I set up my appointment and showed up about 10 minutes early (you can never tell with the traffic).

The reception area continued to impress with them offering wine and offering to take our coats.  I was soon seated by Tony (so adorable!) and we got started.  I showed him the picture I brought with me and after a few minutes agreed that my facial structure could pull it off.  We shampooed and conditioned in the back and got started.  He kinda paused and asked how short I was willing to go.  Since I'd shaved my head once (this was pre-Britney shaving hers!), I knew I was game for whatever.  So, with my permission he decided to do his own take on the Selma cut that would be easier to manage in the mornings, give me some more versatility, AND I wouldn't have to come back as often for trims.  WHAT?!  This man is a genius.

An hour later, he's putting the finishing touches on the hair and there's quite a crowd that keeps coming by to see.  It was 20% embarrassing and 95% flattering (yes, I did that on purpose).  I mean, I generally would say that they did this to give kudos to Tony and to suck up to the client, but they seems generally impressed by the cut and the major change that happened.  Way to put a smile on the customer's face!

Since then, I've received so many compliments, I can't even count them.  My cut (FYI) from my shoulder length hair to my short, short cut cost me $75.  I know that the cost depends on the type of hair and which stylish you go with and I'll make it clear that it was worth every penny.  And the best part?  He didn't pressure me into buying any products I didn't need!

I just got a card in the mail from Tony checking to see how much I liked my haircut and I'm more than excited to show him in person.  I've converted newbie Yelper Jay V. and he'll be getting a cut from Tony next week and I'll be there to watch the transformation!

Way overpriced - they are too proud of their cuts.

My husband goes to Azur, and he is happy with his stylist, Cion. He (my husband) has a luscious mane, and he has traditionally had a hard time finding a good stylist. So on his recommendation, I thought I would try it out, given the fact that I'd previously spent my lifetime looking for a stylist who understood Asian hair.

Well, not only did I leave the salon with the customary straight, flat, lifeless cut and style, it cost me $90 to boot. My stylist spent the entire time telling me how great the salon was and how they were expanding, but at the end of the cut, I was seriously underwhelmed.

He showed me how I could just pull it back into a ponytail if I wanted to get it out of my way. Umm, yeah, I think I could have handled that without shelling out the bucks. I think what happened was that I told him I wanted something easy to take care of, and he thought that meant I would want to wear it in a ponytail and needed help figuring out how to do that.

So, I never went back, and I never would, but my husband swears by his stylist and the men's cuts are less expensive.

All my recent haircuts in Houston have been at the Bellaire Barbershop but usually I get a haircut every 3-4 weeks. It has been over two months since my last haircut and I figured I needed to go the salon route. I saw Azur has a 25% off promotion for first time customers if you mention Yelp so I figured i'd give it a shot.

I managed to squeeze in an appointment on a Saturday around noon. Parking was a bit of a pain but finally I was able to find the parking garage in the back of the building. Azur's layout was pretty much your standard salon with Ikea-ish modern furniture and some sort of Euro beat music in the background. The receptionist was very nice and pleasant and I was offered a beverage while I waited for my appointment.

The receptionist booked me with Chris who's one of the junior stylists. As I said before I don't usually let my hair grow out but at this stage I was rocking the beginnings of a sweet mullet. I honestly didn't give Chris much direction, just told him to make it look neat but still have some style (I grew out the hair so might as well do something with it). He was quick with some suggestions and explained with good detail what he was aiming for. 45 minutes later (an eternity for a haircut as far as I'm concerned) and I was slightly panicked because I seemed to have gotten the Justin Bieber 'do. But once he styled it it looked much better.

I'm very happy with my haircut and with the 25% discount I ended up paying $19 + tip. Not too shabby for a high-end place like this. I think I'll keep coming back for this kind of haircut (but probably head back to barber once I go short again).

I went for the first time a month ago so this is slightly overdue, but you can't really judge a haircut until it's grown out some.

With that being said, I was extremely pleased with my hair. The layers were seemingly done right for the first time in ages and each side was actually even with the perfect amount of volume. A lot of places cut so it only looks good with a straight iron, but my naturally wavy hair doesn't look half bad either with this cut.
However, after two weeks or so, the uneven layering became extremely apparent - there was an enormous gap between layers and I ended up having to fix it elsewhere.  But for the shape my hair was in before, this was definitely a major improvement that was well worth it, even despite how much a haircut costs.

Stylists and front desk are extremely friendly and I felt like I was in capable hands the entire time.  Definitely worth checking out if you're not a broke college student like I am.

Executive summary:  Tremendous value and convenience.  Good looking staff.  Amazing customer service.

I have been looking for a new place to get my hair cut.  Obviously my hair is not complex but for some reason the places I've been going just haven't quite "gotten it".  I tried Azur after reading some great reviews by people with apparently great hair.

I was greeted warmly when I called and the appointment setter put me with Kim.  The shop is a little hard to get to given its location on Shepherd but once inside I found a uber-cool, sophisticated room with excellent energy.  The staff is super friendly.

Kim took a few minutes to listen to my tales of woe and performed amazing works of magic on my head.  She got it to look the way I have wanted it to for years.  She showed me how to keep it looking good (I assume she thinks it looks good) and so far it's been great!

I am so impressed with the customer service.  A few days later someone called me and asked if I was pleased with the service.  Wow.  I was shocked.  Now this is how you build clientele!

I also like the fact they have an online scheduling function.  I am not always at my desk and it's much easier to do this online.  So overall I am extremely happy and looking forward to not having to search any longer!

ok i think i just found my new hair home! i just moved to houston and needed a blowout for a wedding i'm going to. i booked online after i checked out the yelp reviews and it was quick and easy. they called me back to tell me that the stylist that had been chosen for me didn't honor the yelp coupon (prob should write that on the coupon to avoid confusion) but did tell me i could switch if i wanted to.
i ended up changing my appt time (which was quick and easy) and got Chris.
Now my hair is long, curly and can be a beast to blow out. My go-to stylist in chicago sometimes forgets my name but then she sees my hair and remembers exactly what a chore it is to straighten. Chris was awesome!! Shampoo, and blow out only took 45 min -- new record.
Very attentive, told me what he was doing and asked me upfront what i wanted.

great price, good service, easy to get an appt and most importantly they listen!!

Azur Salon has saved my hair.  Until a few weeks ago, it had been literally about a year since I had had my hair cut.  This is pretty much 100% because I just hadn't found a decent stylist in town.

But now that I've been referred to Greg at Azur Salon, my life and locks have been seriously changed.  My hair cut was/is phenomonal.  I've gotten so many compliments and, best of all, I really really feel gorgeous in it.

Everyone at the salon is amazingly friendly - no attitude or typical receptionist semi-bitchiness in sight.  Their salon space is relaxing and full of natural light.  I loved the banter and camaraderie of all of the staff - I am hooked.  These guys are fabulous.

The only down side, Greg is probably the most expensive stylist there (he is the owner after all...), so I might only hit his skills up once every other haircut to save some cash.  $90 a cut is worth it for the quality, but sadly not regularly affordable.  I believe everyone else is in the $60 - 70 range?  Again, worth it!!

    Amazing.....

Today, I went to Tony for a full foil and cut.  I cannot be happier.  Not only did he suggest breaking up the color of my hair (it was a solid shade of blonde), but the cut looks and feels fabulous.

I have not had a cut and color this good since I lived in New York City and Tony is right on par with many of the stylists in New York which would have charged $200.00 for the haircut alone.  I highly recommend this salon but Tony as well.

I also had my eyebrows waxed from Diane.  She did an excellent job with shape and style of my brows.  Let alone, her hands are quick as lightning.  I am also fair-skinned and had no pain or irritation.

Overall, I highly recommend Azur Salon, it is worth every penny!!!

WOW!  I just felt the need to write an update because it's been 2-3 weeks since I last got my hair cut (and lightened... for the summer), and I SERIOUSLY have not needed to straighten my hair since! I am absolutely in LOVE with this haircut!

For me this is amazing, because I like my hair super light (even lighter now than in my pictures) and super straight!  Thus, my hair could seriously file assault charges on me from the chronic abuse.... So, I got at most 2" trimmed, and my hair is SOOO happy!  I love James! He's a genius!

Just got my hair cut here for the first time and I loved it!  I've been shopping around for a good salon and this one has definitely made the initial cut. (no pun intended!)

I have naturally blonde, very fine, stick-straight hair that I usually get cut in layers; the longest layer reaches to the bottom of my shoulderblades.  My stylist, Tony, did an excellent job of giving me a layered cut that frames my face much better than any other cut I've ever had.  He was really great about listening to what I wanted, then making suggestions without making me feel pressured into trying something I wasn't comfortable with.

Once Tony found out I was going on a concert-date that evening, he offered to curl my hair in gorgeous loose curls.  It looked so amazing when he was done!  My only complaint was that he swore up and down it would last all night, even though I've warned him my superfine hair has never been able to hold a curl longer than a few hours.  Sure enough, within about an hour or two my hair could be kindly described as "wavy" but it still looked nice - nicer than my normal, quick style - so I won't complain too loudly.

I had the 25% off yelp deal so it wasn't too bad, ~$65, but without that yelp deal this cut and style would've been pricey!  Obviously it didn't help that I got my hair styled, which isn't something I usually do, so really this was a fair price for the cut I got.  I will probably continue to shop around but Azur has earned a gold star in my book and I might just be back in the future!

I researched salons and found this one after discovering the product line, Shu Uemura. I thought this salon was wonderful! My hairdresser was Jo Adams and I thought she was very good. You see, my hair is VERY thick and coarse and so it can be hard to handle for stylists. Also, my hair is dry from highlighting it. Jo knew how to cut my hair so it appeared lighter and not so heavy around my face by putting a lot of texture on the ends. This is the first hair cut in a long time that I really like. I'm being totally honest here because so many hair dressers can't seem to cut my type of hair.

She also suggested that eventually I should get my hair toned and deep moisturized because of it's condition. It totally wasn't a ploy to get more money out of me and I'm really paranoid about things like that. So, I went back today and WOW. I LOVE IT. My hair is now back to a good natural color, doesn't look frizzy anymore and it is so soft. I believe the deep conditioning method they used was called Oleo-Fusion. It lasts 10 shampoos according to them. It was $30 for that and the toning was $60. I'm very happy with the outcome.

The receptionists were also very friendly. The whole salon looked very clean and modern. One thing I like very much is that Jo wasn't a snub-nosed hair stylist that I encounter all of the time. You know, the ones who think hair styling is God's gift to mankind and if your hair is slightly out of whack then you should be punished with witty quips and shot with looks of absolute disgust. Jo was totally friendly, talkative and knew hair very well. She also didn't pressure me to buy products like so many other stylists do. I hate it when I'm paying for my haircut and the next thing I know my stylist is placing 5 bottles of miracle hair care products that will give me the same "salon feel and look".

I really do recommend this place! :-) Thanks!

I, too, have traditionally been a cheapskate when it comes to hair. I figured it was time to change all that, and that I had earned a little treat for myself. So, I booked the first available appointment with Jim at Azur. Turns out I booked online (a great convenience, I might add) in the nick of time, as I snagged the last appointment for a Saturday and the next available appointment was not until over a week later.

Both Jim and the shampoo assistant (the name of whom I completely forgot) were so friendly that nobody around would have possibly suspected it was my first visit unless someone told them.

I left with a ton of good advice and a hairstyle that screamed "made of money" even if a foot below it, my T-shirt and cargo pants were uttering a demure "uh, maybe not."

Anyone knows me well knows that I'm not like most guys. I certainly would not (as Monica suggests in her review) drop $9,000 on a television (at least, not for one intended for 100% personal use). However, I have seen the light: in some cases, you truly do get what you pay for. My future budget permitting, I do intend to be a regular in Jim's chair at Azur.

Sometimes a girl just needs to get back to basics.

I'm one of those people that gets highlights and lets them grow out for 6 months, so at the point re-highlighting actually takes place, I look like I've been living in a trailer.  This in addition to the fact that I've been living at threat level red on the tightwad scale for a while made me think that going back to being a brunette wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Prices for color on the Azur website ranged from $60-85, and the 25% discount for new customers that find them on Yelp made the price pretty darn reasonable.  The salon's gorgeous (albeit a little hard to find), and they have customer service down pat...plus, they serve white wine!  Serious bonus points.

As for the hair, they did a great job.  The color was a little darker than I expected, but it was rich and natural.  I elected not to get a blowdry, but they have styling products and a blowdryer available if you'd like to do it yourself.

The only drawback was that upon paying the cashier told me that it was going to be $105 instead of the website price because my stylist had to pull color all the way through the ends...seriously?!  That's not included in the price?  To me, if the price is going to be more than normal, it needs to be discussed beforehand.

I am so happy to have found a salon like Azur. Yes, it is a little pricey - but you will definitely leave happy and beautiful!

I personally go to James for my cut. I have thick hair and he knows just how to shape it so my hair doesn't feel heavy in a week. On the contrary, my best friend with fine / thin hair goes to him too. James makes it look effortless to give her body and volume. Did I mention James is super fun??

Ambiance is relaxing with light blue walls and white paper lights hanging from the ceiling.

The front desk is always welcoming.

Second best part (James being the best): you can book appointments online! So convenient. Azur will still call and email you to remind you 24 hours before your visit.

You may spend a lil more at Azur, but you WILL be pleased with the after!

I love Nadine!!!!  Fellow blondies, I ask you, why is it so difficult to find someone who does your highlights just right??  Well look no further.  Nadine at Azur loves to do blondes and it shows she is amazing at it.  After trying several stylists over the last year and a half I finally have my highlights perfect thanks to her.  They are a nice cool blonde that complement my skin tone and take my hair back to the way it looked when I was kid (and I actually was a natural blonde).  The only downside to Nadine?  She loves color but hates to cut.

But that's where Joel comes in.  And in case you were wondering, that's pronounced "Joh-ell".  He finally gave me the courage to cut off my long hair and it has never looked better!

As for Azur the salon as a whole, its pretty much perfect.  They have online booking, which I LOVE because I'm always deciding I need highlights at like 10:30 pm and I can just get online, look at all the times they have available and book it.  They also carry a number of great product lines including kerastase and aveda.  And finally... they always offer me a drink (wine, tea, etc) as soon as I walk in the door.

I heard about Azur through one of my friends when I complimented her on her haircut.  Since I work 5 minutes away, I decided to try it out during my lunch break one day.  I saw Breanne and I absolutely love her, the salon and my haircut.  I loved it so much that I told my cousin about Azur and she made an appointment with Breanne and now she's a fan!

Everyone there is so friendly and Breanne is so much fun to chat with.  I love the fact that they do an amazing job and I can get in and out during my break.

i am giving them a 1 star simple for the fact that i dont go to salons for the people, i go to get a good hair cut and at 65.00 i expect at least that. I dont think the stylist understood how to cut think hair and i ended up looking like a mushroom. i had to go somewhere else to get it fixed, since i dont see the point in going back to the same persone who messed it up the first time. Needless to say i wont be coming back!

We were looking fir a spot to get my husband's hair cut. We found this place on yelp.

The place is on the third floor of it's building. It looks nice and professional inside. Nice seating area, products from aveda, kerastase, shu uemura are available for purchase.

They offer coffee, tea, water, or white wine while you wait. I can tell you that the coffee is gross. It tastes like instant coffee and has almost no flavor. I'm from Seattle so this hurts my sensibilities a bit, but people don't really come here for the coffee so I won't dock any points.

Anyway, hubby's hair came out fine, and it was surprisingly only about $30 for the cut.

I needed a blowout/style for a wedding I was attending, and searched for a salon that I could call with less than 24 hours notice. Azur got my attention with their online reservation system, and the sign up process was very easy and I completed it at night after business hours. However you need at least 17 hour notice so that didn't work for me, but the reviews I read were all very positive so I gave them a call in the morning.

I made a same day appointment with Breanne with less than 2 hours notice- great! I have driven past Azur at their location on Shepard many times, however when I arrived for my appointment I couldn't find the entrance at first. They are located on the 3rd floor, and the entrance is on the south side of the complex next to MW Cleaners. I took the elevator the 3rd floor, and the door is right in front of you as you get off the elevator.

I walked in, and the check-in process was seamless. Breanne was waiting for me, and I sat down for a consultation prior to starting. Breanne was very cute, perky and complimentary. I had asked for a wash, blow out, and styling, but she said my hair was 'too clean' and couldn't be washed otherwise the style wouldn't hold. Sweet, as this means I wouldn't be paying for an extra service I didn't need. Overall, the style was pretty tame (but what I asked for) so I can't really comment on Breanne's hair cutting skills. However, I'm willing to go back and try it out. They also use great products- Kerastase, Shu Uhmera, etc. My final price was $45, not bad for an hour long style.

I visited azur for the first time today and had a wonderful experience!

I had not cut my hair for over a year and was desperate for a change.  For years I have gone to another highly-rated Houston salon, but I never quite loved the results; I decided on a whim to try azur.  I called on a Wednesday, talked to the receptionist about my hair and what I wanted, and had an appointment set up for the next afternoon with Tony.  He performed a complete transformation for me - took my hair from mid-back length to a chic bob in the span of an hour, without chiding me for not cutting my hair or for trimming my own bangs.

The best part of the whole appointment was that Tony concretely expressed what he thought were the best options for my hair, but ultimately left the decision completely up to me, and listened to my concerns about the change.

The cost of the cut ($85 for my 12-inch chop and precision cut) was completely worth it, and I'll definitely be back.

I really like this place. For first time customers, they give you a mini phone consultation and recommend the best stylist for your hair type, length and price range.

I get my hair cut by Van and he does an excellent job. He also did an amazing job coloring my hair, but it was way expensive--double what a regular cut costs me.

Azur Salon is wonderful.  Great location, outstanding service, and great stylist.  Amy Morgan does my hair.  She is simply amazing.  I never know what I want to do but she works patiently with me and offers suggestions and always comes up with something I am so excited to show off when I leave the salon.  She is wonderful with color, cuts, styling, and up-dos.  She also cuts my husbands super curly hair quite perfectly.  LOVE LOVE LOVE AMY MORGAN AND AZUR SALON!!!!

I have been going to this saloon for over an year now,

I have had all the cuts from Chris, who is an amazing stylist. He is patient and creative and very hard working. For a men's hair cut he spends the forty five minutes detailing my hair and honestly it looks amazing, it looks better after just about a week after the cut.  That is why i though i would write this review.

The whole appeal of the place is amazing. Highly recommend.

I vowed to never write a negative review on Yelp-- then I had a haircut at Azur.

I was only in Houston for Xmas week, visiting my parents, and was in desperate need of a haircut.  Did all the research online, and due to all the good feedback on Yelp decided to give Azur a try.  Now, I know everyone says to go to Greg, but he was all booked on the one day I had available to get my hair cut before too many people saw me in my sad state.  So I went and saw Joel, and have never been so angry while walking out of a salon.

First of all, it was like I didn't even exist-- He could not have noticed that he was actually cutting hair on a living human being...he was too busy acting like a catty child with all of the other stylists around.  Honestly, I almost got up and left after watching him stop doing my hair for a good five minutes while he and a female stylist played the "let me hand you my brush only to pull it away at the last second when you reach for it" game.  How old are these people?

So, yeah, I would've gotten over this if my hair had come out halfway decent-- My mother (who has never noticed differences in my hair, well, ever...) actually said "Oh no, what happened?!"  when I got home-- Joel had proceeded to give me shaggy bangs (honestly?!), some of which were actually standing on end.  I'm actually thankful that I'm sick and bedridden right now so that my hair has time to grow out before I go back out into the real world.

I'm so glad I live thousands of miles away from this place.

Well after some kicking and screaming and much much prodding, I dyed my hair to cover the gray.  Good grief.  I have colored my hair before by professionals and had mixed results.  Now, I'm sitting here looking at my fantastic newly found youth due to my new color obtained at Azur Salon.
I look at least 12 years younger (and apparently cuter) and I totally have to thank Azur Salon for it.  Great dye job and great service.
First:  The color specialist interview.  In depth and accurate.  Asking what my goal was in maintaining my color.  Works for me!
Second:  Excellent time management.  I was colored, processed and entertained.
Third:  The express facial.  What a joy.  My skin never looked so good.
End result:  I'm ready for the run way.  And believe me, I'm not a run way kinda guy but I'm feeling darn good given the time spent and talent encountered at Azur Salon.
I love this place.  Kudos to the business owners.  It's surely a place that demands respect in Houston.

Liz Cerean has done my hair the last two times (first, hi/lo light and cut; second, root touch-up). I left more than satisfied. Liz is not only quite delightful, she also boosted my hair's self-esteem from a 5 to I'd say a 9 at least. I love my cut and color and the salon is posh and everyone is very friendly, nothing pretentious. I will definitely be a returning client.
