Azur Salon has saved my hair.  Until a few weeks ago, it had been literally about a year since I had had my hair cut.  This is pretty much 100% because I just hadn't found a decent stylist in town.

But now that I've been referred to Greg at Azur Salon, my life and locks have been seriously changed.  My hair cut was/is phenomonal.  I've gotten so many compliments and, best of all, I really really feel gorgeous in it.

Everyone at the salon is amazingly friendly - no attitude or typical receptionist semi-bitchiness in sight.  Their salon space is relaxing and full of natural light.  I loved the banter and camaraderie of all of the staff - I am hooked.  These guys are fabulous.

The only down side, Greg is probably the most expensive stylist there (he is the owner after all...), so I might only hit his skills up once every other haircut to save some cash.  $90 a cut is worth it for the quality, but sadly not regularly affordable.  I believe everyone else is in the $60 - 70 range?  Again, worth it!!

Well after some kicking and screaming and much much prodding, I dyed my hair to cover the gray.  Good grief.  I have colored my hair before by professionals and had mixed results.  Now, I'm sitting here looking at my fantastic newly found youth due to my new color obtained at Azur Salon.
I look at least 12 years younger (and apparently cuter) and I totally have to thank Azur Salon for it.  Great dye job and great service.
First:  The color specialist interview.  In depth and accurate.  Asking what my goal was in maintaining my color.  Works for me!
Second:  Excellent time management.  I was colored, processed and entertained.
Third:  The express facial.  What a joy.  My skin never looked so good.
End result:  I'm ready for the run way.  And believe me, I'm not a run way kinda guy but I'm feeling darn good given the time spent and talent encountered at Azur Salon.
I love this place.  Kudos to the business owners.  It's surely a place that demands respect in Houston.

I researched salons and found this one after discovering the product line, Shu Uemura. I thought this salon was wonderful! My hairdresser was Jo Adams and I thought she was very good. You see, my hair is VERY thick and coarse and so it can be hard to handle for stylists. Also, my hair is dry from highlighting it. Jo knew how to cut my hair so it appeared lighter and not so heavy around my face by putting a lot of texture on the ends. This is the first hair cut in a long time that I really like. I'm being totally honest here because so many hair dressers can't seem to cut my type of hair.

She also suggested that eventually I should get my hair toned and deep moisturized because of it's condition. It totally wasn't a ploy to get more money out of me and I'm really paranoid about things like that. So, I went back today and WOW. I LOVE IT. My hair is now back to a good natural color, doesn't look frizzy anymore and it is so soft. I believe the deep conditioning method they used was called Oleo-Fusion. It lasts 10 shampoos according to them. It was $30 for that and the toning was $60. I'm very happy with the outcome.

The receptionists were also very friendly. The whole salon looked very clean and modern. One thing I like very much is that Jo wasn't a snub-nosed hair stylist that I encounter all of the time. You know, the ones who think hair styling is God's gift to mankind and if your hair is slightly out of whack then you should be punished with witty quips and shot with looks of absolute disgust. Jo was totally friendly, talkative and knew hair very well. She also didn't pressure me to buy products like so many other stylists do. I hate it when I'm paying for my haircut and the next thing I know my stylist is placing 5 bottles of miracle hair care products that will give me the same "salon feel and look".

I really do recommend this place! :-) Thanks!

Sometimes a girl just needs to get back to basics.

I'm one of those people that gets highlights and lets them grow out for 6 months, so at the point re-highlighting actually takes place, I look like I've been living in a trailer.  This in addition to the fact that I've been living at threat level red on the tightwad scale for a while made me think that going back to being a brunette wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Prices for color on the Azur website ranged from $60-85, and the 25% discount for new customers that find them on Yelp made the price pretty darn reasonable.  The salon's gorgeous (albeit a little hard to find), and they have customer service down pat...plus, they serve white wine!  Serious bonus points.

As for the hair, they did a great job.  The color was a little darker than I expected, but it was rich and natural.  I elected not to get a blowdry, but they have styling products and a blowdryer available if you'd like to do it yourself.

The only drawback was that upon paying the cashier told me that it was going to be $105 instead of the website price because my stylist had to pull color all the way through the ends...seriously?!  That's not included in the price?  To me, if the price is going to be more than normal, it needs to be discussed beforehand.

There is nothing bad to say about this salon. The stylists have class, are excellent at what they do, and have a way of making you feel right at home from the time you walk in the door.

I use Greg, so I am partial in my review :). Love this guy! I have never had 100% confidence in anyone that has ever done my hair like I have in Greg. His cut and highlights are amazing. And, such a nice guy. a true gentleman.

I am so glad I found them!

WOW!  I just felt the need to write an update because it's been 2-3 weeks since I last got my hair cut (and lightened... for the summer), and I SERIOUSLY have not needed to straighten my hair since! I am absolutely in LOVE with this haircut!

For me this is amazing, because I like my hair super light (even lighter now than in my pictures) and super straight!  Thus, my hair could seriously file assault charges on me from the chronic abuse.... So, I got at most 2" trimmed, and my hair is SOOO happy!  I love James! He's a genius!

I heard about Azur through one of my friends when I complimented her on her haircut.  Since I work 5 minutes away, I decided to try it out during my lunch break one day.  I saw Breanne and I absolutely love her, the salon and my haircut.  I loved it so much that I told my cousin about Azur and she made an appointment with Breanne and now she's a fan!

Everyone there is so friendly and Breanne is so much fun to chat with.  I love the fact that they do an amazing job and I can get in and out during my break.

Um, this is SO much luck that the moment I go and actually pay for a haircut, there's a coupon posted on Yelp a few days later!  :)

Let me just say that it was worth the bucks.  And I'm a cheapie when it comes to hair.  Let's back up.

I get bored with my  hair.  Often.  Back in college, I would change the color so often that most people just got used to seeing me in any number of shades ranging from blue to pink.  Now, I've succumbed to working for "The Man" (which isn't actually all that bad), but that means no more adventurous hair.  Generally.

For over a year now I've been cutting my own hair.  I'm cheap and lazy (and very spontaneous), so this was the perfect solution for me to avoid having to make an appointment and pay for something disappointing.  Way too often I ended up leaving with a 'do that I could've done myself.  Therefore, a trip to Sally's meant a decent pair of scissors to cut and voila!  I've been a self stylist for many months.

Then, the inevitable happened.  I got bored.  With my hair.  I'd grown it out for a wedding and kept putting off the big plunge to chop it off.  I was at Ernie's (duh!) watching Hellboy and saw Selma Blair's haircut.  Yum.  That was it.  The next day, I tried to find a place that could squeeze me in the same day and I came up with Azur.

I ended up choosing Azur for a number of reasons.  1) They could fit me in that day.  2) Their low end haircuts had me hopeful that I wouldn't be charged an arm and a leg (umm, only halfway successful).  3) Monica Danna.  (If you've met her and seen her hair, you'd understand.)

I tried the online system to book my appointment (very convenient), but unfortunately you need to book in advance (something like 12 hours?) so that was a no go.  I give them a call and their receptionist was just so professional.  We chatted about my hair and what I was going for, what the texture was, etc and she recommended Tony.  So I set up my appointment and showed up about 10 minutes early (you can never tell with the traffic).

The reception area continued to impress with them offering wine and offering to take our coats.  I was soon seated by Tony (so adorable!) and we got started.  I showed him the picture I brought with me and after a few minutes agreed that my facial structure could pull it off.  We shampooed and conditioned in the back and got started.  He kinda paused and asked how short I was willing to go.  Since I'd shaved my head once (this was pre-Britney shaving hers!), I knew I was game for whatever.  So, with my permission he decided to do his own take on the Selma cut that would be easier to manage in the mornings, give me some more versatility, AND I wouldn't have to come back as often for trims.  WHAT?!  This man is a genius.

An hour later, he's putting the finishing touches on the hair and there's quite a crowd that keeps coming by to see.  It was 20% embarrassing and 95% flattering (yes, I did that on purpose).  I mean, I generally would say that they did this to give kudos to Tony and to suck up to the client, but they seems generally impressed by the cut and the major change that happened.  Way to put a smile on the customer's face!

Since then, I've received so many compliments, I can't even count them.  My cut (FYI) from my shoulder length hair to my short, short cut cost me $75.  I know that the cost depends on the type of hair and which stylish you go with and I'll make it clear that it was worth every penny.  And the best part?  He didn't pressure me into buying any products I didn't need!

I just got a card in the mail from Tony checking to see how much I liked my haircut and I'm more than excited to show him in person.  I've converted newbie Yelper Jay V. and he'll be getting a cut from Tony next week and I'll be there to watch the transformation!

I love Nadine!!!!  Fellow blondies, I ask you, why is it so difficult to find someone who does your highlights just right??  Well look no further.  Nadine at Azur loves to do blondes and it shows she is amazing at it.  After trying several stylists over the last year and a half I finally have my highlights perfect thanks to her.  They are a nice cool blonde that complement my skin tone and take my hair back to the way it looked when I was kid (and I actually was a natural blonde).  The only downside to Nadine?  She loves color but hates to cut.

But that's where Joel comes in.  And in case you were wondering, that's pronounced "Joh-ell".  He finally gave me the courage to cut off my long hair and it has never looked better!

As for Azur the salon as a whole, its pretty much perfect.  They have online booking, which I LOVE because I'm always deciding I need highlights at like 10:30 pm and I can just get online, look at all the times they have available and book it.  They also carry a number of great product lines including kerastase and aveda.  And finally... they always offer me a drink (wine, tea, etc) as soon as I walk in the door.

Liz Cerean has done my hair the last two times (first, hi/lo light and cut; second, root touch-up). I left more than satisfied. Liz is not only quite delightful, she also boosted my hair's self-esteem from a 5 to I'd say a 9 at least. I love my cut and color and the salon is posh and everyone is very friendly, nothing pretentious. I will definitely be a returning client.

I, too, have traditionally been a cheapskate when it comes to hair. I figured it was time to change all that, and that I had earned a little treat for myself. So, I booked the first available appointment with Jim at Azur. Turns out I booked online (a great convenience, I might add) in the nick of time, as I snagged the last appointment for a Saturday and the next available appointment was not until over a week later.

Both Jim and the shampoo assistant (the name of whom I completely forgot) were so friendly that nobody around would have possibly suspected it was my first visit unless someone told them.

I left with a ton of good advice and a hairstyle that screamed "made of money" even if a foot below it, my T-shirt and cargo pants were uttering a demure "uh, maybe not."

Anyone knows me well knows that I'm not like most guys. I certainly would not (as Monica suggests in her review) drop $9,000 on a television (at least, not for one intended for 100% personal use). However, I have seen the light: in some cases, you truly do get what you pay for. My future budget permitting, I do intend to be a regular in Jim's chair at Azur.

I needed a blowout/style for a wedding I was attending, and searched for a salon that I could call with less than 24 hours notice. Azur got my attention with their online reservation system, and the sign up process was very easy and I completed it at night after business hours. However you need at least 17 hour notice so that didn't work for me, but the reviews I read were all very positive so I gave them a call in the morning.

I made a same day appointment with Breanne with less than 2 hours notice- great! I have driven past Azur at their location on Shepard many times, however when I arrived for my appointment I couldn't find the entrance at first. They are located on the 3rd floor, and the entrance is on the south side of the complex next to MW Cleaners. I took the elevator the 3rd floor, and the door is right in front of you as you get off the elevator.

I walked in, and the check-in process was seamless. Breanne was waiting for me, and I sat down for a consultation prior to starting. Breanne was very cute, perky and complimentary. I had asked for a wash, blow out, and styling, but she said my hair was 'too clean' and couldn't be washed otherwise the style wouldn't hold. Sweet, as this means I wouldn't be paying for an extra service I didn't need. Overall, the style was pretty tame (but what I asked for) so I can't really comment on Breanne's hair cutting skills. However, I'm willing to go back and try it out. They also use great products- Kerastase, Shu Uhmera, etc. My final price was $45, not bad for an hour long style.

3 words: GREG GREG GREG.  Katie L says it the best, the compliments i get are WELL worth the money spent. Girls, hair is EVERYTHING.  guys spend $9,000 on a television. we are entitled to spend money on a haircut.  albeit a haircut that makes you look and feel fabulous.

I heard about Greg through a friend, and i thank that friend on a weekly basis. no joke.

color, cut, everything.  i feel so at home at Azur, like they are my best friends.  what a fun place to spend an hour or 2. and what a great location. so convenient.

i've referred 3 friends who are all regulars. and now THEY thank ME weekly. :-)

Way overpriced - they are too proud of their cuts.

My husband goes to Azur, and he is happy with his stylist, Cion. He (my husband) has a luscious mane, and he has traditionally had a hard time finding a good stylist. So on his recommendation, I thought I would try it out, given the fact that I'd previously spent my lifetime looking for a stylist who understood Asian hair.

Well, not only did I leave the salon with the customary straight, flat, lifeless cut and style, it cost me $90 to boot. My stylist spent the entire time telling me how great the salon was and how they were expanding, but at the end of the cut, I was seriously underwhelmed.

He showed me how I could just pull it back into a ponytail if I wanted to get it out of my way. Umm, yeah, I think I could have handled that without shelling out the bucks. I think what happened was that I told him I wanted something easy to take care of, and he thought that meant I would want to wear it in a ponytail and needed help figuring out how to do that.

So, I never went back, and I never would, but my husband swears by his stylist and the men's cuts are less expensive.
